MONTHLY ISSUE Look out for Division & Club Updates!

Salutations, Penguins! Hope you all had a Totoro-lly terrific time at Key Club Training Conference! The other Region 17 LTGs and I worked very hard to provide the best virtual KCTC experience we could manage, and we are very open to your feedback. If you have any suggestions for how next year’s LTGs can make the next KCTC even better, or if you have any ideas that will help us better plan future large-scale events like this, please do not hesitate to reach out. We have an extremely exciting virtual event planned for July that has never been done before. Be on the lookout for more updates on that, especially on our Instagram @d34south. It would mean the world to me if you could make it! It will involve service, bonding, potentially fundraising, and a thrillingly engaging story experience throughout it all—stay tuned for more info coming very soon. As always, please feel free reach out to me if you ever need anything. I’m available via email, text, Instagram DM, Facebook Messenger, Zoom, FaceTime— whatever you need, really. I’m excited to be able to share more information on dues payments, Fall Rally North, and Region Training Conference coming up soon!

Hello Key-ute Penguins! Happy July!! I'm 'so relieved to finally be done with school and take some time for myself to relax on summer break, i'm sure all of you are too!! Before getting into the newsletter, I just wanted to thank each and every one of YOU members for your participation this entire year, because this was definitely a tough year for each an every single one of us. It brings me so much joy to be able to be the one who gets to write about each and every one of YOUR amazing accomplishments during these difficult times. I really hope that these newsletters can bring a little joy to all of you as well, and makes your day just a little better. I'mi incredibly excited to be able to meet some of you in person next year at some of the n person events after being able to write about y'all! It's been such a successful year for all of us, and it's so amazing to see everything that we were able to accomplish so much despite the difficulty of everything being online. In celebration of the ending of the school year, I have decided to design a fun activity for y'all in this newsletter. I've hidden purple penguins throughout all the pages of this newsletter for you to find. Count up the number of penguins you find and DM me on Instagram (@adithri.sharma) to see if you found all the purple penguins (hint: the first penguin is on page one of this newsletter:) ) As always, feel free to reach out to me at any time through email, Instagram, or Messenger:)

Waddling in Service,

ADITHRI SHARMA

OUR CLUBS CUPERTINO This month, we held two officer meetings and two member meetings. In our first member meeting, we had an introduction to our new board, announced our Event of the Month, had our usual club updates, and took our yearbook photo! Our second meeting of the month was also our last meeting of the school year, and there, we announced our Member of the Year, said farewell to our seniors, and had one last family time with the option of hopping around breakout rooms to meet other Key Clubbers. Throughout the month, we held our final four service sessions of the school year. The service projects we did were Bookmark Making, Free Rice, Bean Bean Bean, and UNICEF Math Quizzes.

FREMONT

We didn't have too much going on this month, we wrapped up the year with a final member meeting. We distributed spirit gear and bracelets from a previous fundraiser before the school year ended. Right now we are planning service events during the summer.

GUNN

We started doing the regular Gunn Key Club Trainings last week. Most of will still be going to KCTC, but we started regular training with the individual positions and old officers. Currently, our VP and publicity officers have finished training, and us presidents and project chairs plan to do ours next week.

HOMESTEAD In May, Homestead held its last general meeting of the 2020-2021 school year! We promoted division events as well as new club volunteering opportunities such as Chalk Walk, Pause for Productivity, and Paper Bridges. The officer team has started to plan for the new term and contribute ideas surrounding member recruitment, tracking service hours, and increasing participation in service events. This summer, we hope to continue planning for next school year while maintaining attendance at Key Club events!

LOS ALTOS

We held a Zooniverse service event where members and officers got to help research for the site on various different topics. We did this for about an hour and it was really fun! We had a chance to chat about our respective research topics and also about everyday things while helping Zooniverse with their research!

LYNBROOK This month, we worked with Superposition's Create an Impact where members created TikToks and writing pieces for the organization, Zooniverse where volunteers helped researchers throughout various projects, and Letters of Love where members created cute cards for their friends. From our Panda Express fundraiser in March, we raised $45.02 for PTP.

MOUNTAIN VIEW In May, Mountain View continued to offer our ongoing service projects - volunteering with the Second Harvest Food Bank and Charity Miles - as well as our weekend service events. This month, we did Amara editor, UNICEF Math, and letters to kids at St. Jude's. We also had our last meeting of the school year, which we celebrated with a bonding weekend where we played games on backyard.co.

PALO ALTO We increased social media engagement, and trained our officers more. We also got to know our officers and fellow key club members better.
