TOUR DE CURE

On Sunday June 23rd, we had KEY-uties come and volunteer at June's division wide service event, Tour De Cure! Silicon Valley's Tour de Cure is a series of cycling events sponsored by the American Diabetes Association to raise funds for diabetes research. Our volunteers were tasked with a variety of tasks to makes sure the riders had a successful and fun event. Volunteers helped with volunteer registration, flagging the course, and cheering at the finish line. Thank you for all volunteers who attended the event! Hope to see you at July's service event!

Los Altos - Katherine Lai

ERUC ED RUOT

Tour de Cure was a really fun experience! I signed up for a shift that started at 5:00 AM, so although it was tiring and I got maybe 3 hours of sleep, we got to see a really pretty sunrise and help out with setting up cones! I helped out with directing people into parking lots or on their way and it was really rewarding to get to know the race and aid the bikers/volunteers in getting to the right spot. Overall, it was a super fun experience and I will definitely try to do it again next year!

Monta Vista Tour de Cure is a fundraising cycle event that was held to benefit the American Diabetes Association. Some of our volunteers went to the starting location at Foothill College and helped with registration and recognition. Other volunteers went to Redwood City (one of the rest stops) and helped hand out and prepare snacks and breakfast items for bikers.

VISUALS & ARTICLES HOPES CORNER

Mountain View Hopes Corner is a non-profit organization that provides many services, including breakfast on Saturday mornings, to people in need. Key clubbers were able to sign up for two ships at Hopes Corner on Saturday, June 29th. In the first shift, people helped prepare salads and bagged lunches for the guests to take home. Halfway through the shift, members served food to guests. During the second shift, members continued to serve food and finished their shift by helping to clean up the event.

Mountain View plans to continue to be active over July, with volunteer events such as helping out at the Community Garden at Goodwill, Paul Muir Park Cleanup, and “Shopping for a Disadvantaged Child event.

RELAY FOR LIFE

Menlo Atherton Relay for Life was on May 31st at Hillview Middle School raising money for cancer research. We helped with the setup for the event, putting up twinkle lights and signs! About half our members care to help, we all had a fun time!

JULY DCM & NIGHT MARKET

On August 28th, we had our July DCM and night market! At the event, clubs sold delicious food, members made cards for the service project, and as a result we raised funds for PTP. Thank you to all the members and officers that came to make this event successful!Â

Roderick Sou, Homestead VP It was really cool! 9 out of 10 clubs completely sold out including Homestead's churro booth. Everyone was hustling to get their products bought while having a good time and getting to know members from other clubs!

Micaela Pennebaker, Spirit Coord I thought the night market was fun because we got to bond as a division. Even though the turnout was not as high as we'd (DLT) hoped, I believe that it was still successful because we still had a lot of fun, raised money for PTP, and even wrote cards for hospitalized children.

DIVISION LEADERSHIP TEAM Rebecca Pan, Lieutenant Govenor This month, we had a few meetings and concluded the school year with a few service events! We had one meeting where we had an informal "senior send-off" and thanked our advisor, as well as finished off our school year. We also volunteered at an event at Shoreline Lake where we helped kids with disabilities have fun on boats and paddle boards! Excited for next month and what is to come! I am super excited to serve this term at Lieutenant Governor so that even more individuals and especially underclassmen can be able to gain the same experiences, iif not even more impact ones, that I, and so many others, were able to gain through joining Key Club. I am confident that together, we can truly S.H.I.N.E. (Serve, Help, Illuminate, Nurture, and Educate) and reach new heights this term–through learning about truly the impacts of Key Club, service, and leadership to build our Division 34 South Ohana. Beyond Key Club, you can find me researching business ideas, having intense political debates and conversations, studying til I drop, getting Peach Oolong Milk Tea with Pearls at any boba place (like almost every week :D), and much more! I love meeting new people, so please don't hesitate to talk to me at any of our Division events or contact me!

William Cui, Fundraising Coord. KEYCLUBBERSS!! My name is William Cui and I am going to be a senior at Lynbrook. I love to play badminton, basketball and all kinds of sports. I am excited to be serving as your fundraising coordinator for the 2019-2020 term!

My name is Selina Zhang and I am honored to be serving as one of your Executive Assistants in the DLT for the 20192020 Key Club term. I will be a junior this year at Los Altos High School, and I'm excited to see this division grow through my third year in it! I love all the aspects of Key Club, whether it be caroling for cans through pouring rain and still enjoying every moment of it, cheering our hearts out at FRN, seeing how much money we were able to raise for charities at the end of the year, or a simple service project that impacts our community in a big way. Besides Key Club, I love boba, my dog (and all other dogs, of course), painting, playing and listening to music, volunteering, and more! I'm super excited for this term and I hope we will be able to serve you all to the fullest and do as much service as we can!

Cheryl Bai Hello hello purple penguins!! My name is Cheryl Bai and I have the honor of serving as your executive assistant this term. I am a junior from Monta Vista, and I have been in Key Club since freshmen year. I'm super excited to help our division reach the best that it can be! Letter from DNE Hey Key-uties! Can you believe we're already past halfway through the summer? Neither can I! Although the summer is ending, some exciting events are coming along your war! There's the July DCM & Night Market, volunteering events, Club Rush, and the START OF SCHOOL! I always find the start of school a little nerve wrecking, but also exciting. There are so many opportunities for you to meet new people, join new clubs, and see friends again. As we all graduate from the previous school year, think about how you want to welcome the new class of freshmen. I challenge you to talk to them and get to know them, welcoming them to your school and your respective Key Club. A simple act such as sparking a conversation could make their day. If you read this far into the newsletter, thank you for reading my work. I appreciate you going the extra mile <3

Waddling in Service, ANNABELLE LAW
