MONTHLY ISSUE Look out for Division & Club Updates!

Hello Hello Purple Penguins! I hope you are all having a good time adjusting back to school virtually! For seniors, the dreaded college application season has begun, and from a fellow senior to another, I wish everyone the BEST of luck. If you are ever feeling overwhelmed, make sure to communicate effectively so that you are not stressed. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can always count on me! With the beginning of a new school year, it is also the time to start thinking about member recruitment. This term, I highly encourage everyone to promote Key Club on social media, as well as introduce prospective members to events online. Your division leadership team is currently working on various materials for recruitment, including events, social media filter, and more! Make sure to be on the lookout for those. This month, get ready for our very exciting escape room social, division-wide service events, as well as Region Training Conference 2020/September DCM! Although school may be back in full swing, service never stops and I hope that you will be able to join us at all of these events. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Read on in DNE Alayna Lee's newsletter to learn about club updates, monthly recognition, and more!

Waddling in Service,

CHERYL BAI

Hello Key-ute Penguins! Thanks for being here to read the September Newsletter! I hope all of you are well! :) I know that all of us are in school at the moment and it may be difficult to go back into the swing of things. That's alright though! Always remember to prioritize, take breaks, ask for help, and remember that there will always be room for improvement. As a DNE, I know how stressful life can get especially since school only adds up to the amount of tasks you have to work on. I totally understand the feeling of burnout and stress where it can feel completely overwhelming. It is not something easy to overcome. Fortunately, there are ways to deal with it. A good way to deal with this by continuing to persevere and take time off for yourself to find that spark of inspiration again. Everyone is different though, so just take the time for yourself to reflect and find peace. It's always great to vent about it too, and you always have people to talk to. I will always be here for you guys no matter what,, so if you want to chat about anything, I'll be here for you! :D

Waddling in Service,

ALAYNA LEE

OUR CLUBS CUPERTINO

This month, we held four officer meetings mainly to discuss the new year, the creation of our website, and the process of recruiting members. We are planning on holding an informational meeting for anyone interested in learning more about Key Club and since this is the first major time we are recruiting members, we are going to utilize every single platform we have to promote this meeting. This includes our Facebook group, Instagram, email, and even the group chats from our key club families last year. We have also started a partnership with a group called COVID Networks which connects high school students with seniors from local seniors centers and they can have weekly zoom sessions of yoga, art classes, or even just chatting to bond with each other and ease any loneliness seniors may be feeling during this time.

FREMONT

We are excited to welcome two new officers; Gaby Coker and Joey Yama! This past month we’ve gained new members and are very excited to start holding virtual club meetings.

GUNN -----

HOMESTEAD

Our club is preparing for the next school year by keeping a close bond between the newly appointed officers, encouraging members to attend division-wide events, and making a presentation for our club fair. We will be creating a video and description showing the different aspects of our club to advertise to the freshmen.

LOS ALTOS

During the month of August, our club has been able to find a treasurer and hosted an officer meeting. We talked about member retention at our meeting, and we were thinking about implementing penguin popsicle points or some other type of reward system. In previous years, we had this reward system, but we just never executed it well. This year we hope to fully utilize this incentive system to gain members.

LYNBROOK

We have started to update our website for the next term and we are trying to start this year off early. We have started Miles for Charity service event and that seems to be very popular among our members. We have also started other service events such as color a smile and we are continuing freerice. We are getting in contact with ASB to see if we can start fundraising for our club and for charity.

MENLO-ATHERTON

Menlo Atherton Key Club spent has been pretty busy this month. Our officers have been tirelessly planning events and fundraisers for the upcoming school year. We have also been attending the division’s week of service and making face masks. We officially reached our goal of 100+ face masks!

MONTA VISTA

Monta Vista Key Club is working on fundraisers, upcoming meetings, as well as new plans for member retention. We have also been brainstorming ways to attract new members, especially freshman.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

We have been enthusiastically partaking in all monthly division events such as the DLT Bingo Dares and Service Week, with our Vice President Sami Frehner leading the Freerice event. Additionally, as the school year rapidly approaches, we are discussing and formulating plans for remote member recruitment and promotion of our club.

PALO ALTO -----

Presidents: please submit your monthly newsletter summaries!

CUPERTINO

Promoted this month' s DCM with a graphic. This has been posted on our Facebook and Instagram. The caption for both also includes the option for speeches.

SERVICE WEEK

LYNBROOK

Members participated in a week-long event of daily service opportunities. Our Lynbrook club worked with Menlo to host Saturday' s plarning event. Overall, it was a very fun and engaging way to meet other Key Clubbers from across the division and volunteer together from the safety of our own homes.
