MONTHLY ISSUE Look out for Division & Club Updates!

Hello Hello Purple Penguins! Happy holidays! Can you believe it's already nearly the end of 2020? While it's been a crazy year, I am so proud of each and everyone's service, and fundraising efforts, as well as your dedication to Key Club. Let's make 2021 a year with even more service! We have officially reached the early bird and on-time deadline for dues payment! While the deadline has passed, you can still submit any additional dues at any time this term! I highly encourage any new members to pay dues, as they bring incredible benefits such as awards, scholarships, and more! Although our holiday activities may be a little different this year, Division 34 South will be bustling with many festive activities! At the start of this month, don't miss our on our joint December DCM with Division 34 North: A Charlie Brown Holidaya-Thon! In this second annual event, participate in fun workshops, join the raffle for the Pediatric Trauma Program, and share your holiday spirit with penguins and aqua apes from all over the Bay Area! Later on this month, be on the look out for more service projects, fundraisers, and training conferences! As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns. I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and remember to stay safe!

Hello Key-ute Penguins! Happy Holidays!! Wooo! I can't believe it's already December! Let me not be the first to say that I'm super excited for the holidays :'D That finally means we get a break to chill out especially after all the hard work we had to deal with this past several months. Chill... haha... get it? Okay, anyway... Thank you to the people who continue to read through these letters. I don't know who or how many people read these but I always hope it brightens at least one person's day. You all mean a lot to me, especially for all the work you put it, to school, to Key Club, to full on responsibilities- it's crazy how productive a lot of you are! Even if you don't think so, even being here today, so far to where you are here to read this letter, means a lot. Key Club to me is a family of people who care. A family that wants to actually make a difference. That's what you are to me. I know you care, and you are willing to help out others. Yes YOU. YOU MATTER. You are such a wonderful human being to continue to support our community even during times where it may not seem necessary. It all means so much to me and makes me more passionate about creating these letters. Thank you for that. And as per usual, feel free to contact me any time :) I really hope you enjoy reading through the rest of this newsletter, and have a happy holidays! Yayyyyyy!

Waddling in Service,

ALAYNA LEE

CUPERTINO This month, we’ve had two member meetings and nearly 80

members attended. We've mostly just been teaching members how to do and get credit for service along with playing games like Among Us and Scribbl.io to make our meetings more fun. We also split into our families which were sorted based on common interests where we got to know each other and played games together to bond. We started holding weekly Zoom service sessions where members get together and do service together as a way to motivate our members to do service! We have held a service session three weeks in a row now and hope to continue doing so. In these service sessions, we have done Freerice, Bean Bean Bean, and Color-of-a-Smile.

FREMONT

-----

GUNN

This month we haven't been as active considering school holidays and we took a break so seniors could catch up on apps. We are, however, scheduled to start a new service project writing letters to isolated seniors at our next meeting, and so far we're proud of the work our club has done on FreeRice. We are also continuing to collect dues through the end of the month.

LOS ALTOS

LYNBROOK

In the month of October, Lynbrook Key Club heavily advertised for dues and have collected 60 dues so far! We also collaborated with a local nonprofit called Home of Hope where we donated 430 books for a book drive. In addition, we hosted a Mod Pizza fundraiser and another bottles drive where we collaborated with two other service clubs at our school.

MENLO-ATHERTON

Menlo Atherton Key Club held a Halloween fundraiser this month to raise money for PTP! On top of that, we've been holding successful meetings every week with service projects at each one. We wrote letters that encouraged people to vote in the election.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Our club participated in the virtual Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF event all month long. We also partnered with a few other clubs at our school this month to pack boxes full of gifts and essentials for children in need around the world.

PALO ALTO

We started off the month of October with a towel and blanket drive for Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. During our weekly meetings, we worked on writing letters to seniors at the Victorian Senior Care and thank you notes to frontline healthcare workers. We helped to publicize events and fundraisers from YCS and Rise Together and worked on planning our own club fundraiser.

Presidents: please submit your monthly newsletter summaries! 13

BOOK DRIVE

LYNBROOK

We hosted a book drive in partnership with a local non-profit at our school. The purpose of this drive was to collect old, children's books that our members longer needed, so that we could donate them to underfunded schools in India. Members dropped off their books during designated times, then we collected and sanitized them, all while staying safe and social distancing! :)

14

DUCK POND PROJECT

CUPERTINO

The September Division-Wide Service event was as its name suggests, a service event for the entire division. We used a website called Amara Editor to create subtitles for online videos. I' d never done anything like it before, and it was super fun!

15

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

MOUNTAIN VIEW

The event was one of the biggest MVHS club collabs. It was between M1820, Disney, and Key Club. It was a virtual packing event in which officers and members packed specific boxes with items for children in need. Additionally, they added a little note to send to the child it would be sent to.
