A NOTE FROM
THE
PUBLISHER
DONNA JACOB PUBLISHER
Congratulations on your engagement! The Knoxville Pink Bride magazine is here to help as you plan your big day. The real wedding pages, articles, and numerous ideas are to assist you in visualizing ideas and details. Please notice the new pages and changes to the magazine. • Spotlight pages highlight the experts so you get to know them a little better. Haven’t you wondered how they developed their business and why they’re so passionate about YOUR big day? • Theme pages are part of our real weddings but they focus on the details. It’s the small things that can set your day apart from every other ceremony this year. • Our table of contents is a super easy way for you to search specific categories and get the facts about a business. If you’re looking for your first or that last wedding pro, we have grouped them together for you. • The Venue Guide is organized in a way for brides to quickly find the wedding and reception facilities that fit your needs by location, capacity, etc. With a few quick turns of the page you can decide who meets your criteria for the appropriate setting of your dream day. Did you know you can electronically look through the magazine from our website, ThePinkBride.com? As you browse the pages, click the ads to go directly to that professional’s website. It doesn’t get much easier to connect with wedding experts. See all of our products at ThePinkBride.com
Want to meet and talk with the wedding specialists in person all in one day? Attend our Pink Bridal Show! We gather the elite professionals together so you can chat, compare, and get advice on the spot. See our fashion shows, get Pink Bride t-shirts for your entire bridal party, taste the delicious samples from the caterers and cake bakers, listen to the playlists of the DJ’s, win prizes, and take advantage of show specials only offered to the brides attending. See the latest trends, unique ideas, and book your wedding experts at the show. So much excitement in one place – just for you! Our best advice to a newly engaged couple is to hire a planner. Because of the time, money, and expectations involved, a professional wedding planner can guide you through the decisions and details with grace and ease. Having someone else with experience to ensure everything runs smoothly will help you enjoy the day stress free. If you don’t want to hire a planner, then a day of coordinator will be your go to person so you and your family can relax and enjoy all the festivities of your wedding day. And please, as you talk and meet with the wedding experts listed throughout this magazine and from our bridal show mention you saw them in the Knoxville Pink Bride!

I’ve always loved that the very best photographs are the ones that we could never have planned for. And this got me to thinking - what is it about weddings that cause so much emotion? And in the end I have decided that it is simply because family is important. Relationships are important. Love is important. Memories - life changing, crazy fun, heartfelt memories - they are important!

The world has not always chosen to look at the lives of individuals with depth, as you often do. They focus on what lives well-lived look like, without living that life themselves. WHAT TYPE OF
BRIDE ARE YOU?
+
THE BOHO BRIDE The Bohemian bride is carefree but relaxed. She is definitely an outdoor girl and reflects that in her wedding favors. This kind of bride usually tends to choose organic, locally produced food to serve at her wedding. If you’re looking to have a bohemian type of wedding, then definitely consider having your wedding outdoors. This will create a vibe that cannot be reproduced inside while also giving your photographer a chance to use natural light for photos. Also, from all of the examples I have seen, bohemian brides go for a more “natural” look when preparing their outfits for the big day. Hair is usually loose and flowing, dresses are lace and not as styled, and flowers are looser and not as structured.
THE MODERN BRIDE The Modern Bride is all about crisp, clean, and contemporary style. She would favor a monochromatic theme over a wild, brightly colored wedding concept. If this fits your style, keep the design simple but beautiful. If you are a modern bride then definitely keep things chic! I know some think white is boring, but the modern bride does not. Try to include white with accents of grey and black to create a more sophisticated atmosphere. Flowers are a major part of the modern wedding. Keep to simple lilacs or succulents for your floral arrangements. These will give your wedding a modern edge.
THE CLASSIC BRIDE The Classic bride honors tradition. She typically wants to pull out all of the stops for the wedding, though she doesn’t want to go over the top. Brides usually favor simple elegance. She also will prefer not to see the groom before the wedding. If you are a classic bride go for the simple sophistication of gold accents. It makes everything look so much richer and more extravagant. Also, these brides look for the traditional wedding gown; a ball gown that goes to the floor. This is the perfect look for the classic bride, considering princess ball gowns are usually the type of dress you dream about wearing when you are a child.

WHAT SHOULD YOU INCLUDE
IN YOUR WEDDING? THE OFF-BEAT BRIDE The Off-Beat Bride does not want her wedding to be too “wedding-y.” She likes to put a twist on the traditional wedding by including non-traditional things into their big day. Sometimes these brides are called “whimsical” or even “creative” given that they tend to choose unconventional elements in their décor. If you are an off-beat bride try to incorporate different ideas into your wedding. Instead of simple paper Save the Date’s create a video Save the Date that is unique to you and your fiancé. If you’re really trying to stay away from a traditional wedding, opt for a short or tea length wedding dress. These dresses are becoming a trend right now and for the off-beat bride, they are definitely a must!
THE VINTAGE BRIDE The Vintage Bride is the complete opposite of the modern bride! They are quirky and love to include an antique style into their wedding theme. This bride is definitely not afraid to do a bit of DIY for their wedding day. They favor handmade, beautiful decorations and will definitely put in a bit of elbow grease in order to include historic elements into their wedding. If you are a vintage bride then definitely try to make your wedding stand out from everyone else’s. Think about a handmade chandelier that hangs in the middle of the dance floor or old books as centerpieces for your tables. For your wedding style be sure to include some type of item from the past; maybe wedding gloves or even a lace shawl.

Q: DETAIL WHAT YOUR SERVICES BRING TO A WEDDING CELEBRATION. Melissa personally meets with each bride throughout the planning process to determine individual needs. On wedding day Melissa and her team provide full floral and decor set up services with attention to detail.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CURRENT TREND IN WEDDINGS OR A PREDICTION FOR UPCOMING TRENDS? My favorite trend is the return to organic design and materials including berries, moss, mixed greens and elements of nature.
Q: WHAT ADVICE OR TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES AS THEY PLAN THEIR BIG DAY? I advise the brides to skip the hydrangea during the hottest months of the year when possible. Some blooms do not hold up well in the summer heat. I also advise against any stem dyed blooms for the bride. The dress is too important to stain with flora dye

MEGAN PIERCE AND AARON HEATON | 05.25.14 VENUE: Crescent Bend FLORAL DESIGN: To create and elegant, garden wedding setting, Megan chose soft shades of pink for her wedding flowers. Romantic, traditional table centerpieces were a mix of fresh flowers, silver and candles.

Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS We have a wedding venue that is located on 75 acres of beautiful rolling hills. We make every wedding very personal. We give our brides a blank canvas so they can create their own picture of how they want their “special day.” We love the boutique style where brides can add their own style. Every wedding and reception is different.
Q: TELL US ABOUT ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE DETAILS OR TOUCHING MOMENTS YOU WERE EVER A PART OF AT A WEDDING. I had a bride that booked her wedding in January for the fall. She brought some of her relatives in the spring to see Bluebird Hill. When she walked into the garden adjacent to the building she burst into tears. I asked if she was okay and she said, “the garden is amazing. You said there would be flowers but I never imagined anything this beautiful.” Every wedding is so special, I am known to get teary when I get the bride ready to go down the aisle. The first look really gets to me!
Q: WHAT ADVICE OR TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES AS THEY PLAN THEIR BIG DAY? Make a budget and if it is tight keep the number of guests down. I had a bride and her mother that were always giggling, happy and full of joy. I asked them how they did it for such a huge wedding. They said they made a promise that it was going to be fun and they did indeed have fun and they made it fun for everyone else. Biggest advice is HAVE FUN! It is your day.

MARLOWE WHITTAKER, DEAD END BBQ WWW.DEADENDBBQ.COM
Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS Weddings with Dead End BBQ Catering are the perfect blend of hearty, southern food
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CURRENT TREND IN WEDDINGS OR A PREDICTION FOR UPCOMING TRENDS? l absolutely love the personalized party favor trend. Many brides are choosing to provide guests with usable party favors that highlight the wedding theme. For instance, one of our brides gave out bottles of Dead End BBQ barbecue sauce and spice rub as party favors. That way every time the guests cook bbq at home, not only will it be delicious but it will remind them of the amazing wedding. Its such a unique and memorable gift.
Q: WHAT ADVICE OR TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES AS THEY PLAN THEIR BIG DAY? If there’s one thing l would recommend to brides while they are planning their special day is do not DIY the food for your reception. I have met with so many brides who originally wanted Mom and Grandma to cook all of the food for the reception. However, after consulting with me, they realize there is so much more that goes into catering than just cooking food. Caterers know portion sizes, food safety, and event setup. So please, let Mom and Grandma enjoy your special day WITH you. They should not be focused on if there is enough food, if the food is hot, or if there are enough plates. All they need to focus on is their baby girl walking down the isle.

SHOULD YOUR GROOM WEAR A
TUXEDO
OR A
SUIT? By Pink Lady Andrea
When I think of tuxedos, two things immediately come to mind. First, I think of James Bond: seated near his arch nemesis in a casino, tossing poker chips across the table with a devilmay-care expression on his face. He could be sweating up a storm and still look amazing, all because of that stunning tuxedo. The second thing I think about with regard to tuxedos, and more to the point of this article, is an upscale wedding. It’s no secret that today’s bride is presented with a wide array of options when it comes to formalwear for the men at her wedding. With fancy suits hitting the bridal scene full force, tuxedos certainly aren’t the only option on the board for grooms to choose from these days. Whether you’ve got your mind set already, or you’re still on the fence over which option to choose, three main questions likely have popped into your mind while considering. Read on for answers!
1. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TUXEDO AND A SUIT? The biggest difference is that a tuxedo has the presence of satin on it, while a suit does not. You will see satin on the lapels, buttons, and pocket lining of the tuxedo jacket, as well as a strip of satin down each pant leg. In contrast, suits have plastic or cloth-covered buttons and no satin parts. Tuxedos may also have additional components like a cummerbund or vest, while a suit may or may not be accompanied by a vest or suspenders. Some formalwear shops have a relatively new type of formalwear that bridges the gap between traditional tuxedos and suits. It’s actually a hybrid of them both! Conversationally referred to as a “suit-tux,” this newer option might be the compromise brides and grooms are looking for when planning the formalwear for their Tennessee weddings. It has a thin piece of satin on the lapels and cloth-covered buttons.
2. IS IT INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE GROOM TO WEAR A SUIT TO THE WEDDING? Definitely not, according to today’s fashion trends! However, keep in mind that a great deal of difference exists with regard to the symbolism between a tuxedo and a suit. Whereas a suit is traditionally worn to the office, at job interviews, and at casual weddings as a guest, a tuxedo stands alone as something only worn on very important occasions. Think of it this way: the bride will likely be wearing the most expensive, most amazing dress she’s ever worn on the wedding day. It’s up to the bride and groom to decide whether the groom should dress “up” to match her efforts with a tuxedo or “down” to make the wedding more casual with a suit. Your decision between a tuxedo and a suit should encompass other details about your wedding as well, including the time of day you’re getting married and your venue. While wearing a suit to the wedding can make the groom harder to single out in the crowds (unless the girl in the big white dress is by his side), there are times when wearing a suit is simply more appropriate. Chat with your local formalwear professional for his or her opinion on the matter.
3. WHAT IS THE PRICE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TUXEDO AND A SUIT? Not surprisingly, this varies depending on whom you’re asking, although you’re very likely to find competitive rates between local providers. At retail, of course, a tuxedo is more expensive than a suit. When considering rental costs, however, which is definitely a more popular option at this time, you’ll likely find that tuxedo rentals start at a lower price point than suits. What’s the best way to find out? Give your local provider a call and check. In the end, be sure to keep the big picture in mind. Everything should fit together like a puzzle piece when it comes to wedding attire, so don’t focus too hard on the little details without taking a step back to see the big picture!

TIPS ON ATTENDING THE PINK BRIDAL SHOWS PINK BRIDAL SHOW
Checklist!
CREATE A WEDDING EMAIL ADDRESS:
This is a must do. Do not use your personal email address. You will receive lots of emails about your wedding and you want them all in one central place. Plus, after the wedding you simply never check your wedding email address again.
WHAT DO YOU STILL NEED FOR YOUR WEDDING?
Go online to www.ThePinkBride.com and under the SHOWS tab click on your city. Then scroll down the category listings and review the exhibitors who will be showcasing at the show and link to their sites. Doing your homework prior to the show and having questions to ask exhibitors can help you be efficient and less stressful while at the show.
SHOW SPECIALS:
Many of the show exhibitors offer show specials the day of the show for brides ready to book. If you have done your research you may just snag a savings. Keep in mind vendors are not as busy during the fashions shows, so if you have your dress, use this time to talk one-on-one.
COME TO THE SHOW READY TO BOOK OR AT LEAST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT:
The Pink Bridal Show is like a wedding mall for the day. This allows you the chance to see lots of exhibitors without having to drive all over town. If you are not sure about signing a contract at the show, at least book an appointment. Why? You are not the only bride getting married and if you have decided on an exhibitor better secure your date before it’s taken by another bride. You do not want to be disappointed.
CAN MY GROOM COME?
YES – YES – YES. It is a great time to start making some decisions and clearly you want him to be part.
BRING A SHEET OF PEEL ‘N STICK MAILING LABELS:
Many of the exhibitors will have in- booth registrations. On your label include your wedding date, your name and wedding email address. This will save you time!!
WHAT TO WEAR?
Comfortable shoes and layers of clothes in case it is too hot or too cold.
HOW LONG WILL I BE AT THE SHOW?
Assuming you still have needs, you can plan on 2-3 hours easily. There is so much to see and so many great ideas. Taking notes is a good idea so you can remember the important thoughts from the vendors you connected with at the bridal show.
Be sure to check out the next pink bridal show in your area. Tickets are available online or at the door. www.ThePinkBride.com

Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CURRENT TREND IN WEDDINGS OR A PREDICTION FOR UPCOMING TRENDS? Weddings that are focused on the couple, not the stuff or the party. Two people in love is quite awesome.
Q: TELL US ABOUT ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE DETAILS OR TOUCHING MOMENTS YOU WERE EVER A PART OF AT A WEDDING. I love watching people for reactions. I caught an incredible photo of the bride’s sister as she saw the bride for the first time on the wedding day, in their mother’s gown. That sister sadly passed away about a month later.

5WAYS DRAMA TO AVOID
SIMPLE BRIDAL PARTY
The cake appointment is tomorrow, Final tastings with the caterer are at 4pm, Trial run for makeup and hair (also bridal portraits) are this evening, Oh-my-goodness, where are my heels?! …being a bride can get a little bit stressful. So it’s a good thing you’ll be surrounded by your nearest and dearest friends on wedding day. Right? Maybe…maybe not. The fact is, who you choose to be in your bridal party can either make or break your bridal experience. Here are five ways to keep drama at bay for your nuptials!
1. CHOOSE YOUR MAIDS WISELY TO BEGIN WITH. Understand that your most recent office BFF might not be the best choice as a bridesmaid – honorary or official. You might chum it up at the water cooler on breaks. You may even have oh-so-much in common and go out to lunch practically every single day together. But does that really mean your newest pal is bridesmaid material? While it’s true that she could be your next forever-friend, it’s also true that you could lose touch when one of you gets a promotion or opts for a new job elsewhere. Who you choose to be your bridesmaid should be attached to your life in more than one way – running partners, craft explorers, church buddies, family, etc. In fact, your bridesmaids should be people you’d have to include if you did an autobiography detailing the last five years of your life. You may laugh, but I actually received a letter from a bride who’d done just this, and now is stuck with a not-so-nice bridesmaid who seems utterly focused on making the groom’s brother – her now exfiancé – miserable at the wedding. By extension, the bride, the groom, and the parents are now involved in a bit of a dramatic spat. What happened? She picked the wrong gal to be her bridesmaid out of some skewed sense of obligation. Instead of asking people you’re expected to ask or feel like you should ask, opt for only the people you know – and love – to be your bridesmaids. This stands true for the guest list at many prebridal functions, too. And for the record: asking someone to be your bridesmaid is certainly not the best way to get to know her.
4. STAY IN TOUCH. 2. CONSIDER GROUP DYNAMICS, AND BE A PROACTIVE RINGLEADER (ALONG WITH YOUR MOH). Have all your bridesmaid candidates met before? Are their personalities similar? While it ultimately matters how you feel about each lady, keep in mind that they’ll be working a lot together over the next few months to pamper you. If there’s even a chance that one or more of them could end up fighting or sulking, you may need to adjust your roster – or address issues that could arise up front.
3. THE PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH SHOULD NEVER BE BASED ON OBLIGATION. “My groom’s future stepsister-in-law is around my age. Since my groom’s stepbrother is bringing her to the wedding, I thought it’d be nice to make her a bridesmaid and try to form a friendship.” Wait a minute. What?
Schedules will get jumbled around. Life will get busy. So make sure you schedule time out to hang with each of your bridesmaids either individually or as a group! Letting lots of time go by with little to no contact can start to make any bride nervous. It’s important to stay in tune with what’s going on in your bridesmaids’ lives before the wedding – and vice versa.
5. GIVE YOUR OPINION AND BE TRANSPARENT, BUT DON’T BE AFRAID TO TAKE ADVICE. One of the best ways to avoid drama is to establish rock-star communication from the very beginning. Be honest with your bridesmaids about what your expectations are (this helps you avoid disappointment), and welcome them to tell you what they think. Keeping the door open for communication at every step will help reduce the amount of pent-up stress and issues sure to come to light the week of the wedding!

Wedding
Celebration
If you dream of throwing the wedding of the decade, plan an event that focuses on honoring your guests throughout the evening. Follow the ten great tips below to planning a celebration your guests with thank you for later – and talk about for years to come! BY PINK LADY ANDREA
WELCOME YOUR GUESTS IN STYLE.
LET YOUR GUESTS MAKE A GRAND ENTRANCE.
Besides stepping into a cozy, clean hotel room after a long day driving or flying to your wedding location, give your guests fashionable treats to make them feel more at home – and welcome! Include everything from local snacks and bottled water to area maps and information on local attractions. They’ll love relaxing with these treats before the festivities!
Treat them to a rock-star arrival by having each guest ushered into the reception hall with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and lively music. This makes them feel like a true part of the celebration and sets a vibrant tone for the rest of the evening!
CHOOSE AN INTERESTING LOCALE. Get expressive with where you tie the knot. This can be anywhere from your local zoo to even a museum or gallery nearby. Don’t limit your celebration to traditional venues! Guests will love the unique characteristics of your day because of the one-of-a-kind feel of the location.
KEEP GUESTS COMFORTABLE.
KEEP THEM INTERESTED WITH A FULL ITINERARY. The party should never hit a lull where guests sneakily start checking their watches. Make sure you’ve got plenty lined up for their entertainment by dispersing special dances, speeches, and toasts throughout the evening. Also consider having a photo booth near for guests to enjoy! Constantly change things up, rather than having long stretches of time with the same activity.
FOOD AND BEVERAGES ARE THE KEY TO A GREAT CELEBRATION.
If you’re having an outdoor celebration during summer months, install fans to keep guests cool, and consider fan programs as wedding favors. If it’s during the winter, install heaters to keep the space warm and serve warm drinks. Rest rooms should be nearby no matter where your event is, and you should keep a check on the air conditioning and heat if your venue is indoors. The point is to never let your guests become uncomfortable!
People tend to chat more and feel more comfortable when food and drinks are involved, so make sure you foster that great sense of welcome and hospitality by ensuring that they always have something to snack on and drink throughout the evening. Ask your caterer to provide servers who will mingle with the guests, refreshing plates and drinks regularly.
INVOLVE THEM IN THE CEREMONY.
DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY WITH GREAT ENTERTAINMENT.
Kick off the ceremony with a signature beverage as guests arrive, and allow them to sip and chat before the processional begins. This is a surefire way to break the ice and drum up conversations that will last throughout the evening. Not sure what to serve? A cool, refreshing cocktail (or mocktail) during warm months would be great, and good, old-fashioned hot chocolate would be wonderful during the cooler months. You can also ask guests to give you advice for wedded bliss as you start your new life together.
One of the biggest details of throwing the celebration of a lifetime depends upon your entertainment choice – meaning your band or DJ. This is so much more than just playing music! A professional band or DJ will be able to read the crowd and play music that will either get them up and dancing or relax them. If you want your guests talking about your celebration for years, put some work into finding the perfect entertainment choice!
TRANSITION FROM CEREMONY TO RECEPTION SHOULD BE QUICK. Let’s face it: if guests have to travel more than 30 minutes between your ceremony and reception site, or if they have to wait that long for your arrival to begin celebrating, they won’t really be in the partying mood by the time the reception starts. Choose venues that are near each other for your ceremony and reception, and cater your timeline to making sure your guests are entertained.
PLAN THE AFTER-PARTY! Give your more party-friendly crowd somewhere to take their dancing shoes after the big exit at the reception. Plan an after-party! This can be at a nearby locale, and food, beverages, and entertainment should be in ample supply. Just make sure that you have important numbers handy in case you need to call someone a cab or need to get in touch with someone fast!

PATRICK & MICHAEL DURHAM, PATRICKMICHAEL WEDDINGS WWW.PATRICKMICHAELWEDDINGS.COM
Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS PatrickMichael Weddings is an exclusive “weddings only” DJ entertainment service, based in Knoxville. Our attention to detail and passion for entertaining drives us to exceed every couple’s expectations. This is precisely why, so many couples tell us, their celebration was more fun & memorable than they thought possible.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CURRENT TREND IN WEDDINGS OR A PREDICTION FOR UPCOMING TRENDS? Couples today expect DJs to provide reception entertainment and complete wedding ceremony support, perhaps due to the popularity of venues that provide areas for both. This requires a DJ that is skilled in all things “wedding”.
Q: TELL US ABOUT ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE DETAILS OR TOUCHING MOMENTS YOU WERE EVER A PART OF AT A WEDDING. Our August 3, 2013 couple met while in the “Pride Of The Southland Band,” as did her parents and her grandparents. Additionally, the couple’s wedding rings were exactly like the wedding rings his parents and his grandparents exchanged on their wedding day. Six (6) cakes were made for their celebration; each designed to represent special moments in their relationship. Sharing fine points like these makes wedding celebrations more memorable.
Q: WHAT ADVICE OR TIPS DO YOU HAVE FOR BRIDES AS THEY PLAN THEIR BIG DAY? When hiring a wedding DJ (meet with several), be sure you get a signed contract, describing in detail the services being provided to you, along with a guarantee that assures you, the DJ you hire will be the DJ on your wedding day or, your money back. Also, ask the DJ to provide proof of liability insurance.

Trends This year’s wedding trends are bound to make a statement. From elegant candelabras to crop top wedding dresses, 2014 is meant to be the year of WOW. After tapping into the world of weddings, I found a few trends that will definitely help you make your day an unforgettable event. GREAT GATSBY: Following last year’s return to formality, this year is all about creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere. Brides are seeking inspiration from the movie The Great Gatsby with its over the top glamour. However, you don’t need to go all the way Gatsby in order to have a tasteful wedding. If it’s the 1920s feel you’re going for, think about using candelabras which can add a bit of metallic (which is a MUST this season) to your color scheme and add height to any table. Beading is also a great way to accent anything from garlands to your own wedding dress in order to add softness and sparkle. Also look into including lace. It has its own form of elegance, especially when paired with a white tablecloth. If you’re really looking to be formal, consider serving a multiple course meal to your guests.

ROMANTIC COLORS: When thinking about romance, one color comes to mind: pink. Lucky for brides this year, pink is in! Though, I’m really only talking about the blush tones. As seen in recent bridal fashion shows, major designers like Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang have incorporated tasteful, blushes and nudes into their designs. If you want to include this color scheme into your wedding but want a traditional white gown, think about having your bridesmaids wear varying shades of blush or nude, it’s a great compromise and very camera-friendly. FLOWERS: Though most weddings include flowers, this year they are getting a major upgrade. Oversized and asymmetrical bridal bouquets are becoming very popular. Quick tip, if you decide to do an asymmetrical bouquet, keep your bridesmaids bouquets small and tight in order to create contrast. Also be sure to include the peony! It’s this years go-to-flower for every bride because of its versatile look and various colors. Flower installations are also a must this year and can be a perfect focal point for your wedding. Consider creating a garland that could hang over the dance floor or create a wall for people to hang up well wishes.

The 90’s are also back! ...If you’re into this trend, think about using temporary tattoos in your favors or including break-dancers when the band is taking a break or even having a crop top wedding dress! THE 90’S are also back! Since the 90’s were all about the parties, it’s not that surprising. If you’re into this trend, think about using temporary tattoos in your favors or including break-dancers when the band is taking a break or even having a crop top wedding dress! There are endless, fun possibilities; but remember to do this trend in small doses or you may over do it. Forever Images

FOREST THEME: The forest wedding is also growing in popularity. This does not particularly mean you need to have your wedding in the woods, per se, but brides are starting to include earthy elements into their décor this year. Sunlight is the best kind of décor to have, it is great for pictures and is the best way to create a warm atmosphere. Some fun accessories to include would be: branches covered in lights, moss decorations, and wildflowers. If you’re thinking about having a woodland wedding, also really think about your color scheme. Include warm neutral colors with accents of dark purple and green. Consider having your wedding at a woodland locale to create a mystical feeling that cannot be recreated at an indoor venue. FORMAL PHOTOS: Remember your grandparent’s or even your parent’s wedding photos and how formal they were? Well, surprisingly they are coming back into style. Think Prince William and Kate Middleton’s family wedding photo and that is what every modern bride is doing this year—some even going sans smile! SUPER CHARGED WEDDING: Keeping with the photography trend, #supercharged weddings are taking hold. This trend is all about the guest’s point of view. Brides are creating custom hashtags for Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. These hashtags are a great idea for people at home to view the wedding and even for the bride and groom, who can then check out how much fun their guests had. If you are just not interested in using social media at your wedding, think about having a photo booth where guests can build you a scrapbook with their personal comments. Another aspect of the #supercharged wedding is the charging stations. Now, I’m not talking about those boring stations we see in restaurants and stores, I’m talking classy, sophisticated flower arrangements that just happen to have charge cords coming out of it. Or, if that’s not your style, use hollowed out books or an old locker storage unit for a bit of vintage flair.
Oh So Haute Photography
Whether you decide to include these trends or not, I truly hope your day is unforgettable for you and your guests!

FORMALWEAR
S PO T L I G H T The perfect setting for your downtown wedding... BEN DOBSON, SAVVI FORMALWEAR SAVVIFORMALWEAR.COM
Q: TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS Savvi Formalwear helps brides and grooms create their perfect wedding day by offering exceptional customer service and professional advice and guidance concerning the look, style and coloring of the groomsmens tuxedos and suits. Many times the bride will come to Savvi with very specific ideas about how she wants the men in the party to be dressed. It is our responsibility to deliver exactely what the bride and groom wants. On the otherhand, sometimes the bride and groom are not so specific and need professional guidance. Savvi Formalwear offers that guidance with 30 years of experience behind us.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE CURRENT TREND IN WEDDINGS OR A PREDICTION FOR UPCOMING TRENDS? The vintage look has, over the last several years, become a popular style choice. Light grey suits, charcole grey and tan are often common selections for this style and theme. However, we at Savvi have noticed a desire in some wedding couples to return to a more classic and traditional style for their big day. Elegant gowns alongside sleek well fitted black tuxedos have made a comeback and gives the bride and groom the ageless, timeless look that they can look back on and cherish forever.
Q: DETAIL WHAT YOUR SERVICES BRING TO A WEDDING CELEBRATION. As a locally family run and opperated business, helping the bridal couple is not just a job, it is a passion and commitment. There is not a color, style or fit that we at Savvi can not accomodate. Savvi Formalwear’s tuxedos are in stock and ready for the groom to try on, giving the bride and groom a preview of how the men in the wedding will look.

MAKE YOUR HAIR
HIRE A PROFESSIONAL. We know some of you are very good at styling hair but hiring a professional is the way to go; especially for your wedding day.
DO YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR? Make sure you talk to your stylist at least 6 months prior to your wedding. This will allow you and your stylist to achieve the perfect color on your big day.
VEIL OR NO VEIL? This seems to be the big question facing the modern bride. This is your wedding day and only opportunity to wear a veil so why not wear one for the ceremony and switch to a beautiful hair piece or hair jewelry for the reception.
OUTDOOR WEDDING? Be sure to choose a hair style that can take the heat. Also be sure to use lots of hair spray (Maybe have one of your bridesmaids keep some hair spray with them at all times to fix any hair that might be falling).
BE SURE TO BRING ALL YOUR HAIR ACCESSORIES TO YOUR TRIAL RUN. This includes your veil and jewelry! You will want to see how this compliments your hair style.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT HAIRSTYLE FOR YOU! You want to look naturally beautiful on your wedding day. If you don’t wear you hair up then DO NOT wear it up on your wedding day! Start with your favorite everyday look and let your stylist take charge!
PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. Be sure to set an appointment with your stylist a few weeks before your wedding. Use this time to share hair ideas with your stylist. This will help you see what you will look like on your wedding day and allows the hair stylist a little practice before the big day!
WANT TO BE SURE YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING ON YOUR WEDDING DAY? Be sure to start using a deep conditioner at least three months before your wedding. Ask your stylist for tips on which conditioner is best for your hair.
KEEP IT DIRTY. Many times hair stylists like to work with dirty hair when styling. Dirty hair can often help the hair style last longer.
HAIR CHOICES. Having trouble settling on one hair style? Try one for your wedding day and another for bridal shots or day after wedding shots.

Questions Every Bride Asks
2. My mom is acting like this is her wedding; how do I handle this? Momzilla is probably the worst thing for any bride. Most brides dream about the day they can include their mom when dress shopping, but sometimes the reality is mom hates everything you’ve chosen. How do you deal with that?
1. How do I determine who to ask to be in my wedding? In theory this should be an exciting task for any bride because you are asking your favorite people to share a very important moment with you. But, in reality this can be one of the most stressful parts of planning! Here are a few tips to keep in mind: Don’t choose because of obligation If you feel the need to include a friend because you were involved in her wedding, don’t be compelled to include him or her. This is your day and the people chosen will be with you throughout the entire process, so choose wisely. No guilt trips! Is mom begging you to include your distant cousin “Peggy” because you never see her? Definitely don’t let your mom include someone you hardly know because she is simply your cousin. Your bridal party should be full of people who care about your special day, not someone who doesn’t even know your favorite color. Limit the bridal party to only close family and friends If you’re on the fence about someone, just invite them as a guest. Only choose the people you know would want to be by your side the entire time. Don’t feel required to have an even number! So your fiancé has five groomsmen and you only have three bridesmaids. How can your day be perfect if the pictures don’t have an even number of people? Do not agonize or feel forced to include people who do not matter to you in the bridal party just for the sake of photos. It’s the people in the photos that matter, not the number! Make sure it is a good support system Wedding planning can be stressful and emotional. Make sure the girls around you will be there when you need help and want some much needed girl time!
If your mom doesn’t like a trend you’ve decided to include and she is making her opinion very clear, think about showing her how other brides have done it in the past. Show her ideas online and give her a clear picture of the concept in your head. Sometimes your vision may not make sense to her until she sees it. Remember visuals are key when dealing with others. Does your mom constantly worry you about the wedding? Give her a project. If she is good at putting together floral arrangements, consider having her design the boutonnieres for the groomsmen. Or if she is good at putting together videos, have her build a photo montage for the reception. She will appreciate being useful. Remember when dealing with your momzilla that she is just your mother and she cares about you. She may be acting like this because she is concerned about the decisions you’re making and how you will look back on them in the long run. So remember to appreciate her love!
3. My parents are paying for the majority of my wedding; do they have the final say? This situation should be considered a compromise. Your parents are willing to pay for your wedding so their opinion should be respected when making decisions. But they should think about your thoughts when they decide on something instead of making it “their” day. Never disrespect the budget, you cannot hold someone hostage simply because they are paying for the wedding. You must be willing to work with them when it comes to budgeting or the entire situation will become burdensome for them. Remember to appreciate your wonderful parents who are willing to help!
4. How do I decide whom to invite to the wedding and reception? This can be a tricky situation, especially if your wedding will be an intimate affair. Here is a list of ways to start: First, with your fiancé come up with a total number of guests you would like to include. (Think about your budget and the size of the venue!) Second, make four lists. The first list should include close people who you could not imagine the day without them in attendance. The second list should include aunts, uncles, and cousins whom you have stayed in touch. The third list should include coworkers and your parent’s friends you have known forever. The last list should contain distant cousins and friends whom you have lost contact. When you’ve decided on the number, start with the last list and work backward to eliminate people. It may sound careless, but it is a great strategy when you want to have a small wedding. Another thing a couple needs to decide is whether their single friends can bring a guest. Any guest who is in a long-term relationship should definitely be allowed to invite their significant other. If one of your single friends asks to bring an extra person, simply tell them that due to budget or size of the venue you cannot extend an invitation to them. Ultimately, this is you and your fiancés day so you should have the final say in who will attend your wedding. Invite who is important and leave out all the rest!
5. Should we do a “first look” or should I have my fiancé see me for the first time as I walk down the aisle? This moment is considered to be one of the most emotional and special parts of the ceremony. It is essentially up to the couple on whether they want to share it with their guests or not. For some, the tradition of seeing the bride as they walk down the aisle is sacred and should not be changed. If you’re not in this category of people then a first look is perfect for you. The first look is a great time to get the formal pictures out of the way, leaving the couple with fewer pictures to take between the ceremony and the reception. Also, if you decide on the first look your makeup and hair will be perfect for those photos.
