WEDDING 101
YOU’RE ENGAGED! NOW, WHERE TO START? By: Chelsey Gatlin After you’re done showing off that beautiful ring, it’s time to get to work on your wedding planning! While some brides are ecstatic and others are a bit overwhelmed already, everyone’s curious as to where to start. See our simple timeline to give you the rundown on the basics below! Psst. We have a more detailed checklist on page 95 for you!
1 SET THE BUDGET Sit down with your fiancé to determine how much you both are comfortable with spending and who else might be contributing.
2
3 SET THE DATE Once your venue is solid, an actual wedding date is now possible! It’s falling into place!
4
5 HIRE YOUR #DREAMTEAM Research different wedding professionals who fit your taste, style, and budget. If it’s a must-have person that you cannot live without, book ASAP.
SMILE FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS One of the fun parts of wedding planning where you can dress up, hang out with your fiancé, and get wonderful photos taken. It’s also a great opportunity to get comfortable with your photographer before the big day. FINISH BOOKING YOUR WEDDING PROS This includes vendors like for your photo booth, makeup, hair, and transportation. GET THE LICENSE! Found in the state registrar’s office in the county where you will wed. Don’t forget the obligatory marriage license selfie!
DECIDE ON YOUR THEME Rustic, boho, glam, picking a theme will help narrow down your vendor search and keep your planning more streamlined for a cohesive look.
CHOOSE YOUR CREW Ask your group of besties, siblings, and future in-laws who will be so excited to stand next to you on your big day.
8
9
ATTEND A WEDDING SHOW You’ll be able to get tons of inspiration and get to meet potential wedding pros face-to-face without numerous meetings. Who knows, you might even book multiple vendors for your day!
10
11
SEND OUT INVITATIONS Get those in the mail! Your guests are eagerly anticipating theirs as they’ve been seeing your engagement photos all over social media.
12
13
BUY RINGS Start shopping for the wedding bands! While you may have had a ring on for a few months now, this gives your hubby a chance to choose his!
14
15
T | W · 16
BOOK YOUR VENUE Whether it’s a local barn venue that you have your eye on or a tropical beach 1,000 miles away, start to look for a venue and book early. Don’t forget to keep your budget and estimated guest count in mind. For local venues, check out the Venue section on pages ####.
6
7 SAY YES TO THE DRESS ...tuxedo, suit, jumpsuit, or whatever attire fits your wedding theme!
CHEERS! Pop the champagne! You’re spending the rest of your life with your honey! If that’s not a cause for a celebration, we don’t know what is!
SAY I DO! Now is the time to really celebrate and enjoy all your hard work. Welcome to the married life!

Whether it’s in your city or a quick weekend trip, hit up a local spa! There is no better time than to recharge and relax especially with all of the stress of wedding planning! I’m sure your crew would love the excuse to pamper themselves too! Massages, facials, soaks, yes, please!
Get the mimosas pouring because a babes brunch is exactly where it’s at! Perfect for the group of girls who love a leisurely time surrounded by breakfast noms, delicious mimosas, and each other!
Pack your flannels! A mountain getaway is ideal for an outdoorsy bach party! Hit the slopes, go on a hike, or be a little adventurous with some white water rafting, this is a great way to bond with your bridesmaids! However, this can also be super cozy too by renting a cabin for you and your closest few!

I don’t think a good girls night in could ever not be a good idea! Grab your besties, your cutest pair of pajamas, some great movies, and ALL the snacks! Take it back to your teen years of staying up all night gossiping about boys and the future, and honestly what better guy to gush about than your new hubby-to-be!
If you’re close to a coast, consider having a low key beach weekend! I’m definitely partial to this one. Imagine getting to catch some sun, eat all the delicious seafood, and catching an epic sunset with your girls for a few days. That’s paradise!
V I N E YA R D P I C N I C S Your besties, some delectable wine, and a tasty charcuterie board with the best cheeses and fruit, who wouldn’t want that?! Plus, the Instagrammable backdrops are on point!

WEDDING 101
YOUR GUEST LIST:
WHO & WHO NOT TO INVITE by Ashleigh Haney Time and time again, we hear the many struggles of couples while wedding planning because it is HARD! One of the most common responses when asked of the more uncomfortable parts of planning is the guest list. When a once-in-a-lifetime celebration comes around, of course you want to invite everyone that means something to you or once did! It’s totally understandable. However, due to budget or location concerns, and recently some venue COVID restrictions, that is just not always possible. Whether you are having 20 or 200 guests, below are our key tips in creating your guest list with little stress!
CUTTING GUESTS A quick guide on cutting guests:
DON’T INVITE THEM IF • You and your spouse-to-be haven’t met them or spoken to them. • Either of you haven’t spoken to them in 3-5 years.
OT H E R T H I N G S TO C O N S I D E R : You may have been invited to a friend’s wedding 6 years ago, but don’t feel obligated to invite him or her to yours, especially if you aren’t close anymore. It is okay to say no to kids for an all adult wedding. Remember to be fair! Sometimes when making cuts, the topic gets a little tense. You can’t trim off all of your groom’s distant relatives to make room for more friends of yours.
T | W · 28
REMINDERS Don’t forget that each chair, plate, napkin, etc. will cost you, so your budget and guest list count are tied together. When you’re thinking of your final cost and capacity limit, don’t forget to include yourselves, too! If your family members or future in-laws are contributing heavily to your wedding, it is custom for them to get a say in the guest list. It’s best to have a conversation early on about how many guests they are wanting to invite to prevent potential confusion and going over your limit later on.

YOUR GO-TO GUIDE FOR
WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING by Ashleigh Haney
T | W · 34
Charisse Kenion on Unsplash
Shopping for your wedding dress is one of the most fun parts of planning, but can also very easily turn into a stressful experience. It’s totally understandable to feel overwhelmed when trying to find a wedding dress that not only works for your theme and budget, but also works for your body too. No fear! We have created a straightforward wedding dress shopping guide, so you are totally informed before you plan to say yes to the dress!
STYLE
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
WHAT TO BRING
Dress shopping may look different during COVID-19 and will require some more prep time. When you call the store to make your appointment, make sure you ask about their COVID restrictions and preventative safety measures. Some stores may have a guest limit during this time so be sure to figure out this information before extending the invite to all your friends and family. Although you may have a smaller entourage, the day will still be filled with love and excited as you find your perfect dress!
Now, that you have who you’re bringing, there are some things that will help make the shopping process a bit easier. You’ll definitely want shoes that are similar to the height that you are wearing on the actual day, skin-colored undergarments, a strapless bra, possible shapewear you might wear, and any photos or inspiration of what you’re considering! Last but not least, don’t forget your mask! Add some fun to the experience by ordering some matching bridal masks for you and your crew and show up in style!
WHEN TO SHOP
WHAT TO DO DURING SHOPPING
We advise waiting until you have booked your venue (or at least have some idea of the type of venue you are wanting) and until you’ve set a budget with your partner. That will help narrow down your choices. Trust me, it will be much harder going in with every dress in the store up for availability compared to having a defined range that will work for you. With that being said, start shopping 7-9 months out from your wedding date. If you’re envisioning a total custom gown, definitely start early as that will take more time and consultations in order to create.
Be vocal about you do and don’t like. You’re not going to hurt the stylists’ feelings, and it will better help them to pull dresses that are more of what you’re envisioning! However, stay firm about only seeing dresses that are within your budget! It’s a one way trip to heartbreak when you fall in love with a $10k dress and can’t afford it. Also, don’t feel pressured to have the big waterworks moment either! If you’re not a big crier, that’s okay! It’s totally normal to not find the perfect dress the first time around too. Don’t get discouraged! Your perfect dress is out there!
WHO TO BRING This question really depends on you honestly. You should only surround yourself with a crew that will bring joy to the occasion and be helpful, but not overwhelm you. So if you know going in that you might feel that way or feel a bit insecure, stick to maybe just three or four people like your mom, MOH, or a few other key players that really know you and your tastes. You could also make it a very special moment between just you and your mom.
Pro tip: Eat lunch before shopping! This will help you power through all those gowns without feeling a bit light-headed, but steer clear of heavy and salty foods that will make you bloat before your appointment.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
MEN’S WEDDING ATTIRE By: Chelsey Gatlin Despite popular belief, women are not the only ones who stress and ponder about what to wear to an event, especially one this important. And sometimes, it’s even more confusing for the guys when it comes to what attire is technically appropriate. We’ve broken down each dress code below, so you will know exactly how to dress for every occasion!
Details Nashville
BLACK TIE A tuxedo is a must! This includes the black dinner jacket, matching pants, a white formal shirt, and a black bow tie or long black tie. You may also choose to either wear a black cummerbund or vest. Both are not required, but at least one is. A tuxedo is not just for the groom either at a black tie wedding. All men in attendance are expected to don the classic tux. Even though this isn’t the average look for weddings anymore, it is totally classic and oh so handsome! BLACK TIE OPTIONAL While a tuxedo is still appropriate and preferred, a formal dark suit will suffice here as well! Keep it in the colors of black or dark gray with clean, sharp lines. Basically, a suit that resembles a tux, but isn’t. When the majority of the guest count is wearing a tuxedo, you definitely don’t want to be the one standing out. We would also still keep a tie for a totally dapper look.
COCKTAIL/SEMI-FORMAL With this style, you can be more relaxed! No tuxedos necessary. However, let’s not go overboard. It’s still a wedding at the end of the day! You can now veer into different colors like navy or a lighter gray for your chosen color of suit. Bow-ties and bold dress socks can be fun additions to an otherwise simple look and for a pop of personality too! To create a seamless look for the entire wedding party, a good rule of thumb is if the bridesmaids are in a more formal dress, it’s best to also have the groomsmen match the quality. You don’t want one more formal than the other especially looking back in your photos! CASUAL While this doesn’t mean show up in your old jeans, it is a more laid-back look! We’ve seen guys in suspenders (hello vintage inspired soirees!), khakis with a loose flowing white shirts for destination weddings, and even tan suits for spring affairs. With a casual dress code, you have more liberty to play towards your wedding theme too! For guests, we say take a cue from the location of the wedding to get the best idea of what is more appropriate. What necessarily is great for a barn wedding may not work for a tropical wedding.

15 WEDDING DAY
MORNING OF ESSENTIALS by: Chelsey Gatlin Wedding days can be stressful. It’s a big day, emotions are running high, lots of people coming and going, and most importantly, getting ready to say “I Do!” With all of that going on, of course there are things that get overlooked. This list of 15 wedding day morning of essentials will help be sure that even the smallest bobby pin is available for your special day! POSITIVE VIBES First and foremost, positive vibes only! From you, your squad, and your hired pros. It’s understandable to be a little nervous or have a freak out moment or two, but don’t let that take over for the whole morning. Remember, the whole day is about you getting to marry the love of your life and spending forever with them. The wedding is a celebration of you two, and as long as you’re together, that’s all that matters! THE TRUSTY TIMELINE Not necessarily something you need to have handy all morning long, but to at least know the basic rundown of your timeline (either from your personal planning or from your wedding planner) is a must! That way you and your girls can be on time and ready, and you don’t have to stress. If this is something you don’t want to deal with day of, pass to your MOH. CELL PHONE CHARGERS When the festivities start early and you’re bound to take photos getting ready, a cell phone charger is a necessity with a capital N! DELICIOUS SNACKS Speaking of early days, your wedding day will also be a long one. You’ll need to fuel up long before the reception, so be sure to have a light lunch and include some of your favorite snacks! Extra points for a tasty charcuterie board for everyone! WATER! WATER! WATER! Along with your fav snacks, be sure to drink water! You would be surprised how exhausting weddings are, and how much you’ll be talking and smiling all day long. MINTS After all, you will be kissing a little later in the day, so pop a mint or two after those snacks and drinks! TISSUES An obvious choice huh? Tissues are of course on this list because, well, ugly crying. EXTRA MAKEUP & REMOVER After your makeup is done and you’ve taken a few photos, having extra makeup for touch ups and some makeup remover just in case is good to have on hand!

THE RIGHT UNDERGARMENTS In a rush, you may forget that you’ll be wearing white all day long, so bright pink undergarments that you grabbed the morning of, may not be entirely appropriate. Be sure to pack these beforehand and to include any shapewear you’ll need too! Pro tip: Ladies, if you’re wearing a strapless or open back dress, try not to wear a bra the morning of to avoid those harsh, red lines in photos after you change. SHOES (AND EXTRA SHOES) Of course, you’ll need your pretty wedding day shoes, but don’t forget maybe another pair that’s more comfortable for the dance floor! EMERGENCY ITEMS Including band-aids, safety pins, double stick tape, lint roller, bobby pins, scissors, tampons, stain remover, wipes, and anything else you can think of. You would be surprised how often these are needed. If you have a wedding planner, they should have their own too!
JEWELRY & MEMENTOS Your jewelry and any other special mementos like brooches, hair clips, and bouquet charms should definitely be brought along, but be sure to keep them in a safe place the morning of! YOUR SIGNATURE SCENT We love the idea of a signature wedding day scent. It’s a smell that will always transport you back to this special day, and will help you feel totally put together when you walk down the aisle. GIFTS The morning of is a wonderful time to give gifts to your closest people. Typical gifts given the morning of the wedding day is one for your future spouse, your parents, in-laws, and of course your wedding party! A BIG OL’ TOTE BAG Last but not least, a big tote bag to carry it all!

ENGAGEMENT
CREATING THE PERFECT
ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS UNIQUELY FOR YOU By Chelsey Gatlin Your engagement photos are one of the more exciting aspects of preparing for your wedding! You get to dress up, hang out with your soon-to-bespouse, and have professional photos taken that you can treasure forever. This is also a wonderful chance to show off either your wedding theme or, my favorite, the personality of your relationship. Creating the perfect engagement photos that fit you as a couple is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1. PICK A THEME OR LOCATION You could re-enact your favorite movie with full blown costumes or if there is a sport you both play, grab some props and head over to the ballpark for your session. Favorite vacation spot? Use that as the setting for your photos! Recreating your first date, or perhaps just an at-home session with your photographer are such intimate ways to capture your relationship and tell your love story, too! With your theme or location feeling natural for you, it will definitely show in your photos!
2. HIRE THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER Whether it’s the photographer who is also capturing your wedding or someone hired solely for the engagement photos, be sure to communicate what you are envisioning for your session including locations, props, and outfits you have in mind. Ask questions on if they’ve shot anything similar and their photography style. If you’re imagining your session without a lot of fixed poses and with more of a relaxed vibe, let them know up front, so they can be prepared and you won’t be disappointed later on!
3. RELAX!
Images by Tara Kneiser Photography
The whole point of creating your engagement photos to reflect who you are as a couple is letting your personalities and love story shine! So, relax, have fun, and let your photographer take the reins to capture who you are! You’ll love the result!

BUDGET
7 WAYS TO TACKLE THE
WEDDING BUDGET By Chelsey Gatlin
The dreaded budget! One of the top complaints we hear from engaged couples is dealing with their budget. Here are our top 7 tips for navigating the financial seas of wedding planning!
MAKE IT SIMPLE
Budgets don’t have to be hard, but they can definitely be intimidating at first. Break it down until it feels manageable, and then take it piece-by-piece.
BE ACCOUNTABLE
Have a physical or e-version of a budget sheet and actively mark your expenses and prices. It will help you keep a good number in your head of where you stand while planning, and make sure to not overspend and blow your budget!
START WITH YOUR MUST-HAVES
Find real prices in your area and include them at the top of your budget, so you’ll know the important things are accounted for right out of the bat.
BE REALISTIC
We all love Pinterest weddings, but some of those ideas are worth thousands of dollars! Be realistic in your price ideas to avoid heartbreak later on.
ANY HELP?
Know who all is contributing and how much they are planning to add early on if it is going to play a major factor in your budget or booking your vendors.
SAVE WHERE YOU CAN
If you’re getting to a point where your budget is running a little low, consider cutting out unnecessary expenses or DIY them if you can!
Bridget Flohe on Unsplash
DON’T FORGET THE SNEAKY EXPENSES
T | W · 56
Sometimes certain costs are hidden until you get the final bill, and then you see that you’ve gone way over budget. Keep these in mind when calculating your initial budget plan and in your meetings with potential vendors: tips, gifts, service charges, overbooking charges, and seasonal fees.
Remember what your wedding day is really about marrying the love of your life!

HOW TO INCORPORATE
YOUR PET IN YOUR WEDDING by Chelsey Gatlin
T | W · 62
WEDDING 101 If you’re a pet person (and since you’re reading this, I’m going to guess you are), I’m going to go ahead and guess you’re 100% obsessed with them. Right?! Trust me, I TOTALLY get it. I am beyond proud of the title “dog mom” and completely spoil my two pooches. So if you’re anything like me, you’re trying to find a way to include your fur children into your special day. Well you’re in luck. Check out our 4 easy ways below!
SWEETEST SIGNS & STATIONERY One of the easiest ways to include your pet is to have them displayed on signs! We absolutely love the watercolor sign trend right now, and that furry face would be adorable in it! Whether it’s for your signature cocktail or your guestbook, it’s sure to get an “Awww!” reaction from all of your guests. Another trend we’re also seeing is having them included in your invitation suite as well!
PURRFECT GUEST FAVORS See what we did there? Favors are always a hit with guests and to add something for their furry pals too? Sold! I also think the idea of human “doggy bags” of things like cookies or desserts to go is such fun! You can even say that it’s from your pet!
CUTE CAKE TOPPERS So sweet both in idea and literally! Having your furry pal as a little cake topper is such an adorable nod to not only your pet, but your personality too!
HAVE THEM THERE! This may not work in all cases, so be sure to check with your venue before your bring your pet on the day of! However, when the stars align and your pup can be apart of your big day, it makes for a sweet surprise! And adorable photos! Just make sure you have a person, whether it’s a family member or your planning staff, to be in charge of them on the day of! You’ll be so busy taking photos, having your hair and makeup done, and you know, getting married, to worry about making sure Baxter has gone potty, is fed, and is safely awaiting for his entrance!

10 Tips for Creating Your
WEDDING WEBSITE By Chelsey Gatlin 1. CARRY ON THE THEME
This is a wonderful opportunity to expand the theme of your wedding and give your guests a little sneak peak into the celebrations!
2. DON’T INCLUDE EVENTS NOT EVERYONE IS PRIVY TO Such as your bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, etc. Your guests are excited to be there for you, so there isn’t a need to include events they may not be invited to.
6. DON’T RELY ON GUESTS TO RSVP ONLINE
Some guests might RSVP online, however, a majority probably won’t, especially if they are an older crowd. It’s better to be safe than sorry and stick with the good ol’ formal paper RSVPs.
7. GIVE THEM THE DETAILS
Think of this as the who, what, and where section. Be sure to include a basic timeline, the dress code, and any pertinent info from the venue like parking.
3. PERSONALIZE IT
This is your chance to brag about your proposal or how we met story! Even if everyone’s heard it already, they are excited about the wedding and on your website to learn more about celebrating you! So, give them what they want — that being a sweet love story!
4. KEEP IT SIMPLE
However, don’t have them reading a novel either. Guests do want to read all about your relationship, your wedding party, and the info, but too much will bog them down. Keep it short and sweet as much as you can. You can run a little longer in your “About Us” section, but when introducing your wedding party stick to a couple of quick facts.
5. INCLUDE DIRECTIONS & TRAVEL
For any destination wedding or when your guest list has a lot of out of towners, you need to include some details on where to go and how to get there! Nothing is worse than being in a new city for an event, and not having a clue about where you’re going! Relieve some of the stress for your out of town guests by being a local travel guide via your wedding website. Include directions, whether that is step by step or a Google map link set straight to your venue, and any necessary travel info such as road closures or busy traffic times. Don’t forget to add some cool things they can check out and do while in town, too!
T | W · 66
8. INCLUDE SOCIAL MEDIA
This is a great chance to include your wedding hashtag! Or let your guests know that your ceremony is unplugged.
9. CREATE A WEDDING EMAIL FOR ALL QUESTIONS TO BE DIRECTED TO This is a must when wedding planning in general! However, creating a wedding email that is included on your website is great for when you don’t want your personal inbox full from wedding questions!
10. SHOW OFF THOSE BEAUTIFUL ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!
You both look great, so show them off! This is the perfect place to relieve your social media feed from an influx of engagement photos, and be able to share them with your closest loved ones!

Vintage glasses are an easy way to add a pop of color and character to your place setting.
Your napkins are also a way to add personality and color to your table. Layer your plates or chargers with a napkin in a matching palette or add a fun design.

THE SIMPLE PLACE SETTING Want to wow your guests with an amazing place setting when they arrive at your reception? Here are some fun and easy tips to create a beautiful table while keeping it simple.
Go sans tablecloth! Your guests will fall in love with this natural look that lets your decor and table settings shine!
Back to basics! Instead of a full table setting, most couples are leaning towards a more minimal approach by just having a fork and knife. Add a touch of unexpected elegance to a rustic look with copper flatware!

WEDDING 101
IS A MICRO WEDDING FOR YOU? by Ashleigh Haney
Complete Weddings + Events
Never heard of a micro wedding? Well I’m here to give you the lowdown. Let’s get to it! A micro wedding is defined as a small and intimate wedding involving a much smaller invite list of close family and a few friends. This type of wedding can often be confused with an elopement, but elopements typically only involve the couple getting married and the officiant. Micro weddings usually include a guest list between 20 and 50 people. Think of it as a step up from an elopement and not quite a traditional wedding. Wanting the intimacy of an elopement and the comfort of your closest friends and family? Then this may be the perfect choice!
IT’S YOUR DAY
MORE FREEDOM
You may find that this wedding style allows you to focus on what your special day is all about, the love shared between you and your future spouse. A micro wedding gives you the space to enjoy and soak up the moment. It also allows you to spend more quality time with the people closest to you and depending on how many are near and dear to you, you may even be able to fit all of your guests at one table!
Micro weddings allow you to run with your creativity. This gives couples the opportunity to choose a unique space that may not be accessible for those planning a larger wedding. Think parks, galleries, gardens, or even your favorite restaurant. The list goes on and on. Choosing a nontraditional space or venue can also be cost efficient allowing you to eliminate some items off your checklist. For example, some spaces may hold enough beauty without any additional décor giving you the chance to splurge on a different area.
NOW TRENDING Micro weddings have become more popular over the past year due to the global pandemic and is now trending in the wedding world. Even though these times have come with a lot of unknowns, there are still ways you can say yes to love while staying safe and healthy. Your love deserves to be celebrated and planning a micro wedding is a way you can do it in a more intimate and affordable way.
KEEP THE TRADITIONS Some couples preferred this type of celebration for their special day over a large traditional wedding even before COVID-19. Though the guest list may be smaller, you can still incorporate the popular wedding traditions and make the most of your day. The ceremony. The cake cutting. The first dance. It all can still happen. Just because your wedding will be on a smaller scale does not mean you can’t still incorporate the traditions that you’ve always dreamed of having.
T | W · 76
FREE FROM STRESS Let’s talk planning. This process will most likely be the most stressful part of your engagement. However, planning a micro wedding may make it less time consuming or demanding and give you and your soon to be spouse a more relaxed time leading up to the big day. A limited guest list will save you time and money during your planning journey as well as minimize those day of nerves. A smaller setting allows for more interactions with those attending, creating more intimate moments and memories with all of your favorite people. Micro weddings also get rid any expectations that come with larger weddings. Change it up, make it your day and unique to your relationship. This is a day to be remembered forever. Make it represent you and the love you share.

LIVE STREAM OPTIONS FOR YOUR WEDDING GUEST THAT CANNOT ATTEND by Ashleigh Haney
T | W · 86
Nathan Dumlao on Unsplash
Thanks to technology, there’s a way you can share your big day with your loved ones that cannon physically make it to your wedding. Live streaming is becoming more and more popular in the wedding industry due to the pandemic and restrictions on large gatherings. Whether you have guests who are unwell, unable to travel, or living across the country, streaming your wedding gives your guest list a backup option to still share the memorable moments of your day with you.
Marc A Sporys on Unsplash
COST Live streaming your wedding varies in cost depending on the route you are wanting to take. You can choose to do it yourself or hire a professional. This decision may be based on how many guests you think will be logging on and watching. Most couples choose a free platform as it is the simplest and most cost-efficient way to have your guests watch from home. If you have the extra money in your budget there are also streaming services you can consider like mystreamingwedding.com or Eventlive.pro. Other small costs may include tools to enhance the quality and sound of your video. To ensure your audio can be clearly heard by your online guests, you may need to purchase a mobile microphone for the device you plan to use. You also may want to consider a tripod so you can properly place your device where your guests can get the best view.
CHOOSE A PLATFORM Some common live streaming platforms couples have been using are social media applications like Facebook live, Youtube Live or Instagram TV. These are all free options and can be accessed on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Other options you can choose from include Zoom,
Skype, Facetime, and Google Hangout. Before choosing the right platform, make sure you do your research on the limitations when it comes to time length and the amount of people who can join. It’s important to evaluate all your options to see which platform’s benefits will give you the outcome you are looking for and to make your live streaming journey a success. Facebook Live and Zoom are highly recommended as most people already have accounts and are already familiar with accessing them.
CHOOSING WHAT TO STREAM This is completely up to the couple on what parts of your wedding you want viewed by your online guests. You may choose to just video your ceremony as it is the most intimate portion of your day and that’s okay. Want to capture all your special moments? You can choose this option too! Make sure your designated live stream videographer knows when and where to place the tripod to catch it all. Let your guests enjoy the whole day from the first dance, toasts, cake cutting, and even the grand exit.
SAVE AND WATCH LATER Some platforms and live stream services will allow you to save your recording after your day is over. This way you can watch your wedding on
repeat and cherish the moments forever. This also gives your guests an opportunity to view your wedding if they are not available the exact day and time you are streaming. If you choose Facebook Live as your platform of choice, you will be able to save your live stream and upload it in your private Facebook group for your online guests to view when they please.
CLOSING TIPS In order to protect your privacy, make sure only your invited guests have access to your livestream link. Send this link in a private Facebook group, email, or formal invite. It is recommended not to post the streaming link publicly. Test the platform you chose for your live stream ahead of time to ensure the camera, sound, and internet connection are all working properly and ready to go. It is better to take care of any hiccups now rather than mid wedding so your guests watching at home don’t miss any special moments. Have a plan on where you are going to place your camera to make sure the device is able to clearly pick up sound and is out of the way of the guests who are physically in attendance.

OUR TOP
WEDDING PLANNING MISTAKES
TO AVOID
By Chelsey Gatlin
Mistakes are going to happen in any aspect of your life, including your wedding day, unfortunately. Be on the lookout for these top 10 wedding planning blunders that past couples have fallen into!
1. NOT DOING RESEARCH BEFOREHAND
Doing your research is key to wedding planning! Without doing a little homework before the big day, you can run into wedding day nightmares like underestimating costs and blowing your budget or not reading a contract thoroughly and having your caterer head out leaving a huge mess for you. Uh-oh!
2. BOOKING BEFORE YOU BUDGET
I know you’ve probably heard time and time again, “Your budget is so important!” Well, it’s true. Without having a budget set, you run the risk of spending way too much! You may think that there’s no harm in booking a few vendors before the budget is set. However, usually those first few bookings are your venue, photographer, and caterer, and those are also the most investment typically. If you use a large portion of your budget then, what’s left for decor, your dress, or anything else? Trust us, no one wants to be stressed about money on the day of!
3. NO RAIN PLAN
Mother Nature has a plan all her own, and no one can 100% predict it. No matter what season you’re getting married in or what type of venue, it’s always a good idea to have a Plan B in case something goes awry with the weather.
4. TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYONE
Your wedding day is not only important to you and your soon-tobe hubby, but also members of your family and friends as well. While it is nice to get opinions and ideas from your circle, don’t let it become too demanding. You can’t have everyone’s dream wedding and yours all-in-one, so take what ideas you genuinely like and thank the others for their input.
5. NOT BEING CONSIDERATE
While some brides try to please everyone, others tend to forget about the ones who are helping make their dream a reality. Take into consideration your wedding party and guests when making some decisions. For example, don’t ask your bridesmaids to go on an expensive bachelorette party and then to buy a $700 bridesmaids dress and pricey wedding gift.
T | W · 90
6. HANDLING THE DAY OF DUTIES
Hiring a wedding planner or a day of coordinator is a good idea, but if it’s not in your budget, please don’t consider doing it yourself. Whether it’s your MOH, mom, or sister, have someone available to be a point of contact for the day of. There will most likely be some sort of question or event that needs addressing, and you don’t want those concerns coming to you when getting ready.
7. GETTING ATTACHED TO CERTAIN ASPECTS
Try to avoid getting too attached to a certain idea, flower, piece of decor, or venue, until the contract is signed or the plans are in process. It may not be available or in season, and then your other choices look a little less than. Latching on to something that’s not guaranteed is a recipe for heartbreak.
8. TRYING TO CONTROL EVERYTHING (AND EVERYONE!)
While a lot of wedding planning is being focused and organized, you also have to go with the flow! Things are bound to happen that aren’t in your plans, and instead of stressing, you have to move forward. Also, remember that your wedding professionals are just that, wedding professionals. They have experience in executing events and do it all the time. Express your concerns or problems, but let the pros handle it.
9. DIY EVERYTHING
We love a good DIY! Who doesn’t? It saves money and can look just as good! However, don’t overwhelm yourself with trying to DIY every aspect of your wedding! It will just lead to more stress and more to-do’s before the big day.
10. FORGETTING ABOUT WHAT THE DAY MEANS
When planning something as important and massive as your wedding day, you can lose sight on what it’s all about. Through all the ups and downs, it boils down to you and your spouse-to-be celebrating your commitment and future together.

BEAUTY
7 DRUGSTORE BEAUTY HACKS LEADING UP TO THE BIG DAY By: Chelsey Gatlin On such a big day of your life, of course you want to look your best! While the beauty and health industry has countless ways to prep for your special day, you don’t always have to spend the big bucks to achieve that bridal glow. Try these 7 drugstore beauty products leading up to your celebrations for a beautiful look with a reasonable price! PS. Keep in mind that any new treatment or product should NOT be tried within 6 weeks of your wedding day!
TEETH WHITENING STRIPS, TRAYS, & GELS Of course, our smiles are a big concern when it comes to weddings. It is easily one of the most photographed days of your life, so a dazzling smile is a must! It is so easy to achieve a whiter smile with the many products on the market. From Crest White Strips and the numerous whitening toothpastes to a deluxe whitening light, you won’t have to break the bank for a gorgeous smile! FACE MASKS I have to admit, face masks are my thing! They are my number one go-to for a little R&R, and I love that I can do them sitting on my couch while binging Real Housewives. Plus, there’s a face mask for every skin concern! I personally keep going back to L’Oreal’s clay masks and the Yes To brand depending on what I need.
T | W · 102
SKINCARE Skincare is a very popular topic these days, especially when it comes to bridal beauty! We all want clear, glowing skin and there are so many routes to get there! From holy grail moisturizers and new retinol serums to quick acne treatments, your local drugstore has it. It’s also the perfect opportunity to try a few different methods to see what works for you without breaking the bank. Check out tried-andtrue products like CeraVe Facial Cleanser and Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 for a smoother, healthier complexion! LIP SCRUBS Flaky, dry lips with patchy looking lipstick? A definite no-no for your nuptials! Try a low-cost lip scrub to get your lips in tip top shape! Or better yet, grab the ingredients and make your own!
CUTICLE OILS Along with photos of your skin and smile, your hands are going to be photographed and looked at a lot. No one wants jagged, peeling cuticles around that fab manicure and sparkling ring! Grab some quick cuticle oil from your local drugstore to keep your cuticles hydrated and in great shape before your big day. Sally Hansen, Essie, and Burt’s Bees all have great options! JADE ROLLERS This handheld massage tool is really making a name for itself within the beauty industry! If you’ve not heard of this yet, the jade roller is known for plumping the skin and improving circulation. It also reduces redness, inflammation, dark circles, and wrinkles! Paired with your favorite oil or cream, this is a perfect way to relax before bed and your big day!
HAIR MASKS We can’t forget about giving your strands some love too! Hair masks are so easy to do! Whether it’s a quick 5 minute in-shower mask or a longer split end treatment, this is wonderful keeping your ends and dryness in check! Say hello to healthy, shiny hair! My favorite is definitely Kristin Ess’s daily scalp mask from Target!

NEWLYWED
12 DATE IDEAS
FOR YOUR FIRST YEAR OF MARRIAGE by Ashleigh Haney Date nights are crucial to any relationship whether you’re in your first few dates and getting to know one another or if you’ve just celebrated your 50th anniversary! Here are some of our favorite date night ideas that all couples can enjoy!
1. MINI ROAD TRIP Road trips are great for bonding, reconnecting, and just getting back to basics. While a drive across the country may not work for you, take a short trip to a nearby city. Load up on snacks from your childhood, blare some music, and relax!
2. VOLUNTEERING Nothing feels better than helping someone, plain and simple. Well, helping out with your S.O., that is a little better! Go to a local animal shelter and love on some furry friends, take donations to a local homeless shelter, or better yet donate your time by helping out!
3. ADVENTURE OUT Hiking, kayaking, or even skydiving, adding a bit of adventure is a sure fire way to put the spark back in a relationship!
4. LET YOUR LOVE GO WILD Hit up an aquarium or zoo to take in the many different animals from all over the world. It’s not only fun, but you might get ideas for your next vacation, too!
5. TAKE IT BACK Recreate your first date or take a stroll to the spot where he proposed and changed your life forever. It’s super romantic, and makes you remember the reason behind all the wedding planning chaos you went through.
T | W · 110
6. CREATE SOME HEAT IN THE KITCHEN Cook together! With new boxed meals delivered right to your door, it’s easier than ever before and so easy. This is a great way to spend time together and maybe find a new hobby you both enjoy. If you’re not Gordon Ramsey in the kitchen, it’s also a fun way to laugh at the mess you made together.
7. TAKE A CLASS Pottery, dancing, cooking, whatever it may be, learning a new skill together is fun and exciting! Plus, it could even come in handy for your newlywed nest!
8. LAUGH! Belly laughs are great for the soul, and great for your relationship, too! Whether it’s your favorite comedian or a local stand-up show, you’ll both appreciate the light heartedness of just laughing together.
9. BE A TOURIST Go to all the tourist spots in your city, take photos, and even ride a bike downtown! It makes you appreciate your hometown a little better and is tons of fun to do with one another!
10. PHOTOSHOOT FOR TWO Whip out the old camera or even your iPhone for a one-on-one photoshoot! You’ll love to have the photos of one another when you’re old and gray, and it’s great to get dressed up (or down!) and create some art!
11. DIY PROJECT Whether it’s the dresser from IKEA you’ve been meaning to put together for months or a completely new idea from Pinterest, tackle the project together! You’ll feel amazing once it’s done, and you have a new memory of the two of you working as a team!
12. GAME NIGHT Put your game face on! Playing board games and trivia with one another is such a simple way of checking out of real life for a moment to have fun! No sore losers allowed though!

“BRIDGERTON” INSPIRED WEDDINGS IN 2021
Alessia Cocconi on Unsplash
by Ashleigh Haney
The hit Netflix series, “Bridgerton”, has made its way in the real life wedding world. Haven’t seen the show? Log into Netflix now and get up to speed on this popular romance. Soon-to-be brides have been inspired by this series and are planning their weddings around a 19th century British ball theme. There are many elements couples can choose to incorporate in their big day to bring their “Bridgerton” inspired vision to fruition.
THE VENUE Brides wanting the overall “Bridgerton” look may be on the hunt for a ballroom type setting. Locations with a garden feel may also do the trick. Royalty and elegance will fill the room with floral arrangements and chandeliers.
THE DRESS The costumes of the “Bridgerton” cast is what most viewers are falling in love with. The dresses give off a sense of innocence and femininity. The wedding market has already picked up on this new craze as Regency-era inspired gowns are already on the racks. Plan to see square necklines, empire waistlines, puff sleeves and even some corset detailing. Complete your look with some long, white gloves and eye catching jewelry like Daphne Bridgerton herself. If you’re feeling bold, add a tiara to truly emulate this era.
FLORALS White roses are repetitively seen throughout the first “Bridgerton” season and will make the perfect wedding bouquet. This flower represents innocence and purity and will simply add to the overall beauty of the day.
MUSIC
Joice Kelly on Unsplash
Your choice of music has the chance to really set the scene. Choose some modern day songs of the show’s soundtrack like Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” or take it to the next level by hiring a string quartet. This will definitely be the cherry on top of this unforgettable night.
SOMETHING BLUE The Bridgertons have you covered with this one! Wedgewood blue dominated the scene of the final ball with all the florals, decor, and costumes. Here’s your chance to take the monochromatic route and fill your venue with the most prominent shades of blue. Recreate the soft and elegant night of the Duke and Duchess’ ball.

A WEDDING PLANNING VOCAB LIST EVERY BRIDE NEEDS TO KNOW By: Chelsey Gatlin
Madeline Trent Photography
When it comes to wedding planning, there are so many things to consider like your budget, the perfect dress, who to invite, and more. One way to feel more confident and plan like a boss is to know exactly what you’re talking about! With a quick glance at this list, you’ll be a pro at planning and will impress your vendor dream team in no time!
DECOR
FLOWERS
VENDORS
CHARGER - Large, decorative plate that is not meant to be eaten off of. It is the base setting for the other course plates.
POMANDER - A type of bouquet that is a perfectly round ball of flowers that is usually carried by a ribbon. Ideal for flower girls to carry instead of a basket and petals!
VENUE COORDINATOR - Different than a wedding planner, a venue coordinator works for the venue solely and acts as a liaison between you and the location. Usually has the responsibilities of during site tours, giving vendors access on the day-of, helping coordinate in-house operations like catering, and processing invoices.
TEA LIGHT - A small, short candle wrapped in a metal case used mainly for decoration and for keeping food/ drink warm. VOTIVE - While similar to a tea light in decor purposes, these candles can be taller and have a longer burn time. These can be placed in vases or candle holders depending on the style and theme of the wedding. HEAD TABLE - The primary table at a wedding reception where the bride & groom sit with the wedding party. Dates of the bridesmaids and groomsmen can be seated here as well. SWEETHEART TABLE - The reception table specifically for the bride & groom only.
T | W · 124
TOSS BOUQUET - A smaller bouquet used for the bouquet toss instead of the bride’s actual bouquet. This will sometimes be complimentary from your florist too! BOUTONNIERE - The floral decoration worn on the lapel of a tuxedo or suit jacket. This is typically a single flower that matches the bride’s bouquet or theme of the wedding. Usually worn by the groom, groomsmen, fathers, grandfathers, ring bearers, and sometimes ushers. FILLER - Flowers & greenery used to create a more lush, full bouquet or to add texture. Think baby’s breath, delphiniums, tracheliums, dusty miller, and eucalyptus leaves.
VENDOR MEAL - This is a meal that is specifically for your day-of vendors like your photographer, wedding planner, & DJ/band. It is usually a stripped-down version of your menu that consists of an entree and a couple of sides. Some vendors include this as a requirement in their contract, so be sure to double check! PLUS PLUS - A catering term meaning that the price for each person does not include service charges or gratuity/tax. Usually seen as $45 ++. $45 would then be your base price with service charges and taxes added to it.
WEDDING 101
INVITATIONS
CAKE & FOOD
EMBOSSING - Used to define designs and headings in your invitations. The wording or design looks raised adding more dimension to the look.
GANACHE - Pronounced like “gahnahsh,” ganache is a pastry element made up of melted chocolate and cream that is used for glazes, cake icings, sauces, or fillings.
LETTERPRESS - Normally used for a traditional look, the letters are indented on the front of the invitation and slightly raised on the back. FOIL STAMPING - Using thin foil leaves to create a metallic design for a bit of sparkle. Can be more expensive and have a longer turnaround time though than more traditional methods. STATIONERY SUITE - This includes your invitation, reception card (if having a separate reception site than your ceremony), RSVP card, directions, accommodations card, inner and outer envelopes, and the band or wrapper that holds all the pieces together.
ATTIRE TULLE - A popular type of fabric used in wedding dresses and veils. It is a very fine, lightweight netting that can be in multiple colors and materials. BLACK TIE OPTIONAL - A dress code for guests consisting of guys wearing either a tuxedo or a formal dark suit and women wearing a full-length gown or a nicer cocktail dress. Dresses should not be too short or revealing. BUSTLE - The process of converting the wedding dress to look as if it had no train. Involving buttons, hooks, or ribbons, the train is either lifted or tucked for easier movement during the reception.
ORDER OF EVENTS PRELUDE - The music playing while guests are entering the ceremony site. This starts 20-30 min before the wedding. PROCESSIONAL - The order in which the wedding party enters the wedding. This includes the officiant, groom & groomsmen, family members, bridesmaids, ring bearers, flower girls, and finishes with the bride and her chosen escort. RECESSIONAL - The exit by the wedding party down the aisle at the end of the ceremony. The order is reversed from the processional with the officiant remaining at the altar.
PIPING - A type of cake decorating that involves using a pastry bag & tips for intricate designs. BUTTERCREAM - A form of cake icing and/or filling consisting of a soft mixture of butter and powdered sugar. There are different forms like Italian buttercream that also incorporates egg whites. FONDANT - Another sort of cake icing that is usually thicker. It is rolled and placed on the cake for a smoother look. HAND PASSED APPETIZERS - Can also be referred to as tray service or tray passing, your catering staff will present bite-size appetizers or hors d’oeuvre on a tray to your guests during cocktail hour. CANAPÉ - Perfect for your cocktail hour menu, a canapé (pronounced “can-a-pay”) is an hors d’oeuvre that is small and easy to eat in one bite and great for being a hand passed appetizer. Usually a cracker, bread, or toast with savory toppings.
GUESTS ESCORT CARD - A card used to tell guests at which table they are seated at. Usually displayed during cocktail hour. PLACE CARD - Another card used to tell a wedding guest at which specific seat they are at. This will be placed at the table setting.
LIGHTING GOBO - A small disc or template inserted in a GOBO projector light to show a design, monogram, or names in lights on the dance floor, wall, or exterior. UPLIGHTING - A light used to highlight the architecture of your venue space or add color to the reception site. Sometimes will be sold by DJs, rental companies, or lighting companies.

STYLE
SAY YES TO THE VEIL By Julie Hancock Understanding the different lengths and styles of veils is important when trying to choose the perfect veil for your special day!
BALLET VEIL
A ballet veil falls somewhere between midthigh and calf length. They are a great choice for outdoor weddings, allowing the look of a long veil without it dragging in the dirt!
CHAPEL VEIL
A chapel veil is one of the longest veils available. Ideal for formal weddings, these veils are long enough to touch the ground and are very romantic! Juan Gomez on Unsplash
BIRDCAGE VEIL
The birdcage veil is ideal for vintage style weddings. These veils are about mid-nose length, often drape down over one or both eyes, and are made of a wider mesh so they can be easily seen through.
Samantha Gades on Unsplash
DOUBLE TIERED VEIL
Veil Lengths
The double tiered veil is probably what comes to mind when you think of a traditional wedding veil. These veils have two panels, with the shorter one often being draped over the brides face as she walks down the aisle.
FINGERTIP LENGTH VEIL
As the name suggests, this popular veil reaches fingertip length. It’s a flattering style that works well for any type of ceremony!
POUF VEILS
ELBOW LENGTH VEIL
Again, as the name suggests, this veil goes down to around elbow length. The elbow length veil doesn’t cover as much, making it ideal for pairing with gowns that have intricate detailing on the back.
Fernanda Prado on Unsplash
CATHEDRAL VEIL
A cathedral veil is the ultimate statement veil! They are often 8 feet long, meaning they are even longer than the train of most wedding gowns. These are generally reserved for the most elegant and formal weddings.
A pouf veil is just that: poofy! The tulle is gathered to make a voluminous hairpiece to bring some 60’s-esque flair to your wedding look.
JULIET CAP
The Juliet Cap style is starting to make a resurgence, and we absolutely love it! A Juliet Cap can come in various lengths, but the top of
the veil has an extra piece of fabric to make a sort of cap over the crown of your head and is often embellished with lace and beading.
Luobolinka on Unsplash
Veil Styles MANTILLA VEIL Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash
A Mantilla veil, also known as a Spanish lace veil, is one that features lace all around the edge of the veil. It’s the ultimate romantic veil!
