Pinot’s Palette is a “paint and sip” studio where groups of friends gather for date night, girls’ night, and corporate events, bring wine and snacks, and enjoy an interactive art experience. Everyone attending the event re-creates a featured painting of the night, like a version of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night,” with the help of local artists. Pinot’s Palette supplies all of the art materials, wine glasses and plates to enjoy the evening. Some call it entertainment art, others call it a painting party, but everyone agrees -- no experience is necessary to have a great time at the nightly two- or three-hour events.

Six Steps to
Choosing the Wedding Cake Dig in to the perfect wedding cake on your big day by following these simple steps! by Pink Lady Andrea
1
Always, always, always do cake tastings!
2
Look around at different styles and designs, and have an idea of how you want your cake to look before you meet with your baker to nail down a design.
A cake can look beautiful and still taste horrible. Taste each baker’s cake prior to placing a deposit!
Have two or three ideas available to discuss, and see what his or her opinion is on the best style and design for your guest count.
3
Be aware of food allergies.
4
Know how many guests are planning to attend.
5
Choose the shape of each tier next or decide upon a design from step two.
Do you or your future hubby have a food allergy of some sort? Be sure to tell your baker about any allergies or dietary restrictions you may have before going further.
Once you have your guest count, your baker can tell you how many tiers your cake should have. If you want to save the top tier, you may need an additional or larger tier.
Your baker may provide multiple options for tier shapes if you would like to build a custom look, or you can begin discussing what you love about the designs you found.
6
Choose your cake flavors, fillings, and icing! Keep in mind that your baker may suggest using fondant for certain cake designs or outdoor weddings. This could change how much your cake costs as well as the way your cake tastes, so be aware of this before moving forward. Once that is settled, choose which flavor, filling, and icing combo is just perfect for you!

Sand + I Do at Henderson Park Inn
Dreaming of saying “I do” with the sand between your toes and the sounds of seagulls applauding your first kiss? Destin offers the picture-perfect venue option for couples planning a destination wedding in Florida. wedding planning
do’s + don’ts
assume you will save money Not all DIY projects will put your wedding budget in the black. Project costs can quickly add up as mistakes and miscalculations have you purchasing extra supplies and especially if you end up throwing in the towel and hiring a pro at the last minute. In the end, it can be cheaper and easier to work with a professional from the get-go, saving you the hassle, time and wasted money.
be realistic about your craftiness keep in mind you are responsible for set-up (and clean-up) After spending weeks creating personal favors, programs and menu cards, these items must move from living room to wedding venue. I can’t tell you how many exhausted DIYers come wedding week are stuck setting out and cleaning up these projects on wedding day. But you don’t have to be. Give yourself a break, and see if your wedding planner, caterer or venue staff can take over the set-up (and clean up!). Most will be more than happy to help, leaving you to sit back and enjoy your wedding.
I have a love/hate relationship with Martha Stewart. With ethereal precision, she makes even the most tedious and complicated of crafts appear effortlessly mundane and obvious. I have learned that I am no Martha... none of us are. Find DIY success by being realistic about your crafting skills (and available time). With so many other things to worry about on wedding day, aspiring to be a professional shouldn’t be one of them.
try something for the first time Procrastinate The second most common mistake (after assuming you’re a crafting goddess) is waiting until the last minute. Case and point, it took me almost 8 months to stop thinking about refinishing my desk and getting to it. And I am still contemplating changing out the drawer pulls. Decoupaging hundreds of tiny votives placecards seems easy enough. Until you are wrist-deep in white goop, pulling all-nighters leading up to wedding day while you second guess the finished look. Assume all wedding-related crafting will take much longer than expected. Worse-case scenario, you can still hand things off to the pros if finishing looks unlikely.
I catch myself saying all the time, “Well, that looks easy enough!” Of course I needed 40 grit sandpaper, not 80! Yeah... so I don’t even know the real difference between 40, 80 or under what circumstances they are most appropriate. While I have no problem bumbling through trial-and-error projects, likely never to see the light of day, weddings are different. Under immense stress to figure out how all this wedding planning works, learning a new skill within the same timeline can be overwhelming. Save yourself the stress and hand off first-time projects to professionals.

Q: Tell us about your company. A Garden Secret Unlimited has been in existence since 2004. After years of being a full service florist, I decided to downsize and work from my home studio specializing in wedding and event flower design. I still retain a business license, carry insurance and pay taxes. Now I have more time to concentrate on the next event or wedding. I’m working with passion and loving every day.
Q: Detail what your services bring to a wedding celebration. Being a romantic, it has been very easy to listen to brides and feel their excitement. I pour my efforts into designing flowers that reflect their style, accent their wedding gown, or enhance the beauty of a church or venue. It is also my priority to guide a bride through colors, flowers, designs, and work within her budget. This is more than a business for me; it’s an opportunity to aid brides in creating one of the most important days of her life.
Q: What advice or tips do you have for brides as they plan their big day? -Plan and book early to secure your choice of vendors and venue. -Use time lines for all phases of planning. -Most importantly, during the week of the wedding, DELEGATE EVERYTHING -Relax and enjoy family, friends, and your labor of love.
You bring your friends and cocktails we provide the paints and canvases! Leave with a masterpiece. Perfect for Bridesmaid Parties, Bachelorette Parties or just a great Girls Night and Date Night! Use code PINOTBRIDE when you book a party and the bride paints for free!!

Q: Detail what your services bring to a wedding celebration. Paradox believes that every bride is unique and has their own way of reflecting their style and imagination. The client is able to develop a menu that is specified to their tastes, whether they are wanting Southern to Asian or maybe even a variety of foods. This is what sets us apart from the competition, no set menus, no set pricing; it’s your day so make it what you want. We can also assist with other details of the wedding. Sometimes it may get overwhelming for a bride and their families, so we try to help them “relieve the pressure” of finding that venue or flower company. We want to make it as smooth as possible for them and want them to enjoy the process of planning rather than running from it.
Q: Do you have a favorite current trend in weddings or a prediction for up-and-coming trends? The rustic chic look is still IN!!! From the table cloths, cakes, lighting, etc. I believe it gives a calmer sense for the event and feels homier with warm candle lights that glow, earth tones, antiqued, and distressed items can be used year around. In my opinion, a very cost friendly idea that can look and feel elegant.

Q: What advice or tips do you have for brides as they plan their big day? As they say it’s NEVER too early to start planning! We encourage brides and their families to make the decisions on the big things as far as catering, dress, cakes, venues, flowers, etc. Once those have been put into place it seems you can BREATHE a little easier and small changes can be made later on. Also as far as the menu, never be afraid to step out of the box with your selections and give your guests that WOW factor and maybe even challenge their palates.

Five Fun
Bridal Shower Themes These unique shower ideas offer tons of fun, laughter, and gifts for the bride!
1. Alphabet Bridal Shower
4. Pajama Spa Shower
Assign each guest a letter in the bride-to-be’s full (married!) name. Then, have the guests purchase items from her registry, wrap the gift, and decorate it with the letter they were assigned. As gifts arrive, spell out the bride’s name! Let her new monogram be your decorating inspiration. If guests are really creative, they can try to find a gift on her registry that corresponds with their letter. Guest favors could be hanging initial ornaments with the first initial of each guest’s name.
Have guests wear their pajamas, put a bunch of pillows on the floor, and shower the bride-to-be with spa-related items! Then put on a good chick flick and indulge in giving each other manicures, pedicures, and facials well into the evening while you snack on comfort foods. Guest favors could be nail polish in the bride’s wedding colors!
2. Around-the-House Shower
Guests can write their favorite recipes on cards and give to the bride along with gifts of non-perishable foods needed to prepare the recipe in a (reusable!) gift basket. Alternatively, guests can give an appliance used in the dish’s creation. Another favorite way of conducting this shower is to have guests prepare each dish to bring to the shower for everyone to eat! Guest favors could be cute cookie-cutters or mini whisks.
Assign each guest a room in the house to purchase an item for from her registry. Decorations should be in the bride’s favorite color to accent her home. Serve foods she loves! Guest favors could be little key necklaces.
3. Honeymoon Shower Encourage guests to purchase gifts for the bride and groom via their honeymoon registry. Alternatively, give guests the option of purchasing a gift that would celebrate their honeymoon location, like flip-flops, sunglasses, or signature drink mixes. Wrapping paper and decorations could follow the honeymoon destination theme! Guest favors could be a keychain with the destination theme – like a mini Eiffel Tower or sand in a bottle.
5. Stock the Pantry Shower

for Your Bridal Portrait Session
by Pink Lady Andrea [ Show off your dress and your attitude with our advice! ]
1. Take inspiration from other bridal sessions you have seen, but never attempt to copy them. The whole idea is to express who you are at an important time in your life. Do something that is uniquely you!
2. It is fun to be trendy, but it is safest to shoot for timeless. Consider subtle additions, like vibrant shoes in a color you have always loved or a location you used to play in as a child.
3. Hold your breath – you do not have to wear your dress! If jeans and a t-shirt define you much more than your wedding dress, incorporate them in the bridal session.
4. Incorporate only things you love. If you do not ride a motorcycle, fix cars, or go sailing, why would you have your photos taken on a bike, under a greasy car, or on a boat? Again, each bride is unique. Let your portrait capture that! Never do something merely to make a point or because others may like it. Satisfy yourself above all!
Christen Jones, Christen Jones Photography www.christenjones.com
Q: Tell us about your company. I started Christen Jones Photography in December of 2006. After several years of shooting under my friend & colleague, Jamie Fender of Little Rock, I was certain it was the right time for me to take my shooting to the next level. It has been such a wonderful 7 years of watching my business grow from shooting just 5 weddings my first year in business to shooting 37 beautiful weddings in 2008! I pride myself on not only capturing once in a lifetime moments for my couples but truly being a part of their special day as well. I help plan, coordinate, organize, and de-stress with my brides and I love every minute of it! I am so thankful for each and every couple that has blessed me with the opportunity to play such a wonderful part in their wedding day!
Q: Do you have a favorite current trend in weddings or a prediction for up-and-coming trends? There’s absolutely nothing new about my favorite wedding trend ... the First Look. People have been doing it for years now and more and more it’s becoming the norm for a Bride & Groom to see each other before their ceremony and I couldn’t be happier about that! The First Look is my favorite part of the wedding day. It’s this moment that reminds me why I do what I do. I’m a hopeless romantic and truly believe EVERY girl deserves to find the man that will spend the rest of his life looking at her as she is the only woman in the world!
Q: What advice or tips do you have for brides as they plan their big day? My number one piece of advice is simple ... meet your vendors. Especially your photographer. I can tell in the first 15 minutes of meeting a couple whether or not we have the same vision for their wedding. Your photographer plays such a huge part of your lasting moments that it’s key to make sure you’re on the same page. Not just about your shot list but about who you really are as a couple. You should feel comfortable with your photographer. Totally comfortable.

Mike Huey, American Tuxedo americantuxedos.com
Q: Tell us about your company. American Tuxedo has been in business since 1990. We have 2 locations: one at 4722 Poplar Ave in East Memphis and the second at 4730 Riverdale Road in Southeast Memphis. Our stores are open 7 days a week with an owner on the premises at each location. Tuxedos and accessories are available for both rental or sale with inventory warehoused right here in Memphis. Special orders are available. We’re affiliated with stores all over the country to fit any out-of-town groomsmen. Our staff has over 50 years of combined experience in the tuxedo industry.
Q: Detail what your services bring to a wedding celebration. Most wedding couples are looking for a great product, excellent service, and a fair price. With over 200 styles of tuxedos and accessories available, our style selection is second to none. Having inventory warehoused in Memphis allows us to do several things the larger “chain stores” can’t do. First of all, the groom can actually “try on” in advance, the tuxedo and accessories he’ll wear on his wedding day. And when the groomsmen pick up and try on their tuxedos before the wedding, our experienced staff can do on-thespot alterations or even change out sizes if necessary. Our goal is to make sure every man in the wedding party looks perfect. American Tuxedo will be happy to match any local competitor’s pricing on the same or similar merchandise.
Q: What advice or tips do you have for brides as they plan their big day? Please come in with you fiance’ 3 to 6 months prior to your wedding after you’ve chosen the wedding gown and bridesmaids’ dresses. If you’re wanting to coordinate the men’s accessories with the bridesmaids’ dresses, try to bring a swatch of the fabric or one of the dresses with you. Before you come in, discuss with the groom what he’d like to wear, as well as any distinctions you’d like to make between the groom and the rest of the men in the wedding party. Set aside at least 45 minutes to an hour, to have the groom try on several combinations and to allow us to answer any and all questions you may have. And finally, relax and leave the tuxedos to us. We’ve done thousands of weddings over the last 20+ years.

TIPS TO MAKE YOUR
Hair Sparkle ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!
1 HIRE A PROFESSIONAL.
We know some of your are very good at styling hair but hiring a professional is the way to go; especially for your wedding day.
2 DO YOU COLOR YOUR HAIR?
Make sure you talk to your stylist at least 6 months prior to your wedding. This will allow you and your stylist to achieve the perfect color on your big day.
3 OUTDOOR WEDDING?
Be sure to choose a hair style that can take the heat. Also be sure to use lots of hair spray (Maybe have one of your bridesmaids keep some hair spray with them at all times to fix any hair that might be falling).
4 PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
Be sure to set an appointment with your stylist a few weeks before your wedding. Use this time to share hair ideas with your stylist. This will help you see what you will look like on your wedding day and allows the hair stylist a little practice before the big day!
5 WANT TO BE SURE YOUR HAIR LOOKS AMAZING ON YOUR WEDDING DAY?
Be sure to start using a deep conditioner at least three months before your wedding. Ask your stylist for tips on which conditioner is best for your hair.
6 KEEP IT DIRTY.
Many times hair stylists like to work with dirty hair when styling. Dirty hair can often help the hair style last longer.
7 HAIR CHOICES.
Having trouble settling on one hair style? Try one for your wedding day and another for bridal shots or day after wedding shots.
8 VEIL OR NO VEIL?
This seems to be the big question facing the modern bride. This is your wedding day and only opportunity to wear a veil so why not wear one of the ceremony and switch to a beautiful hair piece or hair jewelry for the reception.
9 BE SURE TO BRING ALL YOUR HAIR ACCESSORIES TO YOUR TRIAL RUN.
This includes your veil and jewelry! You will want to see how this compliments your hair style.
10 CHOOSING THE RIGHT HAIRSTYLE FOR YOU!
You want to look naturally beautiful on your wedding day. If you don't wear you hair up then DO NOT wear it up on your wedding day! Start with your favorite everyday look and let your stylist take charge! Adapted from somethingturquoise.com
Entertainment
S p o t l i g ht
Jay Ford, Funn Entertainment www.djfunn.com
Q: Tell us about your company. At Funn Entertainment, we understand that a wedding can be fun yet still remain elegant at the same time, and we know how to make that happen. Our goal is to provide quality entertainment, the best music selection and can help coordinate your special day. We make brides feel comfortable by paying close attention to detail, from the first phone call to the last dance!
Q: Detail what your services bring to a wedding celebration. Our desire is to be the glue to your celebration, to hold all your hard planning together and help create amazing memories from the arrival of the first guest to your departure. From pre-ceremony music to fun party songs at the reception, we know how important the right music at the right time can be. When planning your wedding we work with you to pick the music you like, the music that fits you, and to have those songs played at the right moments.
Q: What advice or tips do you have for brides as they plan their big day? I think it’s very important for brides to work with a company they feel comfortable with and to obtain knowledgeable DJs. Initial meetings with your DJ can give you a feeling of comfort or let you know it’s time to look further. If you feel it’s not the company or personality you want for your celebration, don’t book with them. Understand that your entertainment will be a vital part and is responsible for starting the celebration and ending it your way. Be certain your DJ has a sense of attention to detail, works well with planners/coordinators and more importantly - they are versatile enough to fit your style and not asking you to fit theirs!
