When it comes to the 2012 Primary Election the issue most concerned with women’s rights is abortion. However this is a topic that should not be battled out only between feminists and conservatives because any issue of gender equality concerns the entire nation. The importance of this equality boils down to the fact that we all come from women. A point best quoted by Tupac; “And since we all came from a woman, got our name from a woman and our game from a woman, I wonder why we take from our women Why we rape our women, do we hate our women?” Women’s rights can no longer be viewed as a gender specific issue. We have all come from a woman and should therefore be concerned about women’s rights. However our involvement in women’s equality is not just for our own personal relationships to our mothers, sisters, or daughters but also for the hope of our nation’s future. How can we even begin to solve the other issues of economy, war or healthcare if our future is born from a being of inequality? If our women are in distress so is our future.

“Women’s rights can no longer be viewed as a gender specific issue.” 2

There is no beauty in ending a life before it has started. However this does not address the issues of rape or lack of education. This is not only about a woman’s right over her body but it is a matter of dealing with the bigger picture; preventing a woman from even having to make the choice of abortion. Whether abortion is legalized or prohibited the issues of inadequate sexual education, access to contraception, rape prevention and more are not addressed. However, nearly every republican running in the primaries does not support these programs such as Planned Parenthood. One candidate to take a second look at would be Fred Karger of California. Jewish, gay, and pro choice Karger is not your typical Republican. Karger states; “I believe in the Republican philosophy of less government, keep government out of our lives. That is a very personal, private choice between a woman, her doctor, her family and her faith.” Of all the candidates running Karger has shown the most support for these rights. He is also one of the few candidates who support equality for all, which comes from his own experiences. One the other hand he has shown no support for prevention programs which are just as valuable as having a right to your body. Furthermore just because he supports equality does not mean he is addressing women’s issues in particular. The primaries are just the beginning and Karger is certainly a candidate to look out for. As the 2012 primaries approach us we must ask; “So will the real men get up? I know you're fed up ladies, but keep our head up…”

Untitled When you love a feather Hold onto it When you love a bird Set it free The colors of the ocean vary The colors of the sky blend in When you want something You keep it When you feel a feel And you already have a love You let that feeling go When you want two things It’s not right to have both You set things straight So everyone knows What you have And what is being offered Hold two different values Know your self worth And know the greater value -of what you already have There’s a wrong way And there’s a right Don’t mess up the good in your life For something that might not be right Don’t have a love -and dig a whole Don’t have a whole -to burry your love It’s better to say Nothing happened When actually Nothing did.

“ 50 Shades of Grey” Bianca Q. “Mom I’m bored” then all of a sudden your mom hits you with the “Go read a book” phrase. At that moment your thinking, a book? Really mom you want me to read? LOL Hey if you can get on the internet , phone and watch T.V all day then you might as well read a book. I mean why not? Books are really interesting. You’re in your own zone reading a story, using your imagination and getting into character. You just have to COVER. I use to love reading books when I was younger but I stopped because I got caught in the social network hype like Facebook and Twitter. But I have set a summer goal for myself, which is to read 12 books by the end of the summer. Basically that’s one book every week. For week one I read “ 50 Shades of Grey” by E.L. James. OMG this book! For starters no one under fourteen should read this book because of its erotic scenes. The main character Anastasia weird “DOMINATRIX” relationship with a young business man name Christian Grey. Grey is this perfect , handsome , rich guy who has a very mysterious way of doing things. He will catch your attention throughout the whole book. Grey leaves you wanting to read more, wanting to know more about his character. Since James knew that he left his readers thinking “What’s next”? , there are two parts to this book. The next one is “ Fifty Shades Darker” and then“ Fifty Shades Freed”. Mhmm guess its going to be a grey summer LOL Go grab a book and read. You can download books to your computer , phone , or eReader. Go out and buy a EBOOK if its easier for you! Just pick up a book and use your imagination.
