happy february Valentine’s Day (February 14) isn’t widely celebrated here. In fact, the day of love didn't arrive until the 1990s. To us, that’s a good thing. Only a few restaurants are fully booked with fixed menus, and there’s no heavy marketing pressure to proclaim your undying love to your significant other with the expected Valentine’s gift. Instead, Prague offers what it always does… an invariably endless supply of romantic

adventures down it’s cobblestoned streets. This month, we look at some of the more romantic ways you could spend your time in Prague. We also bypass the romantic wine bars and head straight for some of our favorite craft beer pubs (after all, what more would you expect in a country that consumes more liters of beer per person than anyone else on the planet?). In 10 Things, find our picks of the not-to-miss
events this month. Among our favorites are concerts from Thievery Corporation and Ginfest, a festival at the end of the month dedicated to all things gin. If you don’t find enough to do there be sure and check out our daily calendar in the Night & Day section. Follow us on Facebook for even more things to do (and to win stuff), and we hope you have a great February!

ROMANTIC THINGS TO DO THIS MONTH
By Tatiana Cirisano Although it's not a Czech thing, celebrating Valentine’s Day in Prague isn’t hard. The city is a living fairytale, and it only takes a glance at its stunning castles, charming cobbled streets, and baroque gardens to understand why. But if you’re head-over-heels and looking to amp up the romance even further this Valentine’s Day, we’re here to help. Whether your game is fancy wine bars, relaxing spa days or horse-drawn carriage rides, here’s how to kick your romantic side into high gear in Prague.
Have a cocktail
Alright, we’ll be the first to admit it—the best love stories often start with a little alcohol. But we’re not talking drunken hook-ups at the dive bar. Kick off the night with a handcrafted cocktail at Parlour, a classy, hidden, hushed mixology bar just a few steps from Wenceslas Square with a cozy interior, locals-only feel and no menu. There’s a reason these bartenders call themselves “cocktail artists.” Take a seat at one of the comfy armchairs, and you’ll be served a personalized drink based on your mood. Plus, Parlour is one of those rare finds that are quiet enough to chat, but loud enough to still hear the jazz tunes playing on the bar’s antique record player. Cheers. Romance meter says: ❤
Have a glass of vino (or two)
If wine is your thing, you’re in luck. Prague is home to a number of quality wine bars like Vinograf, a tried-and-true venue with three locations and one of the largest selections of Moravian and Bohemian wines in the city (we’re talking up to 350 options). For a more casual setting, head to Na brehu Rhony, a cafe-like spot that focuses on Cotes du Rhone wines and is close to the Vysehrad fortress, another stop on our romance guide. Or, make a night out of your wine tasting with a visit to Bokovka, a hidden gem of a wine bar co-owned by a group of Czech filmmakers, which means it also offers—you guessed it—a private cinema. Romance meter says: ❤
Horse-drawn carriage ride through Old Town
Romance means there’s no limit on the cheesiness factor. Take advantage of this chance with a horsedrawn carriage ride through Old Town (come on, you know you’ve always wanted to). Just be prepared to pony up the cash, no pun intended. Head to the carriages lined up near St. Nicholas Church for a 20-minute ride that’ll set you back 800 to 1,000 CZK. Thankfully, each carriage seats four—make it a double date to half the cost. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Take a spa day
You deserve it. We recommend the Corinthia Hotel, where the upscale Apollo Day Spa on the top floor offers a panoramic view of Prague from an indoor pool. But there are also a number of salt caves in Prague that both locals and visitors swear by for relaxation. For a traditional experience, you’ll find one of the city’s many mineral salt caves inside a 19th-century former brewery complex in the trendy Holešovice district. If you’re looking for something more...unusual...head to the beer spa located in Vinohradsky Dum. Yes, this actually does exist—here, you’ll bathe in in a special beer rich with microelements and vitamin B in a treatment known as balneotherapy. Finally, Aqua Palace is the spot for a more family-friendly venture. Drop the kids off at the water park and head to the “sauna world” and spa for a couple’s treatment. Lastly, nothing says Valentine's Day more than chocolate (don't worry - your New Year's resolution
is safe). Tawan Massage Centers has three upscale locations in Prague and offers the "Hot Chocolate" massage, a theraputic massage in a hot chocolate wrap. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤
Go to the opera or symphony
You can’t go wrong with a night at the National Theatre, one of the most stunning destinations in the city. The more than 130-year-old venue is home to opera, drama, ballet and laterna magika, a multimedia style that combines digital technologies with live performance. This February, the program includes classic operas Aida and Macbeth, drama Pride and Prejudice, and on the ballet side, “Solo for Three” a performance inspired by three singer-poets of the 1960s and ‘70s. Can’t get a ticket to the National Theatre? No worries. The theatre is also connected to the equallyromantic State Opera, Estates Theatre, Karlin Music Theatre, and New Stage, where laterna magika performances are held. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤

Get inspired by art
Prague may be home to a wealth of interesting museums and exhibits, but we wouldn’t exactly call the Museum of Communism or the National Museum prime date spots. Instead, our pick is Galerie La Femme, an intimate space on Bilkova street that showcases contemporary Czech art. The gallery recently opened their New Year’s exhibition, which runs through the end of February. For a larger selection in a romantic setting, head to Museum Kampa, a modern gallery on the charming Kampa Island with various hidden nooks, winding staircases, and rooftop terraces. Romance meter says: ❤
Send flowers
Love Locks are a great idea, but authorities remove them every few weeks.
Prague Zoo
Trips to the zoo shouldn’t be reserved for just kids. Especially in Prague, where the city’s zoo has been listed among the best in the world by the likes of Forbes and TripAdvisor. The Prague Zoo hosts nearly 5,000 animals and 650 species, so you won’t run out of things to see. Not only is the zoo a fun destination to marvel at penguins, tigers, giraffes, and other animals, but its location a few kilometers outside the city makes it a charming countryside getaway. Plus, we bet you didn’t know the zoo was originally intended to mark the marriage of the Crown Prince of Austria and the Princess of Belgium back in 1881. How romantic is that? Romance meter says: ❤
Take an afternoon (shopping) trip to Paris (Street)
If the romantic, tree-lined paths of Paris Street don’t lure you in, the amazing shopping will. On this quiet Jewish Quarter street, you’ll find the likes of Prada, Cartier, and Dior. The high-end atmosphere makes Paris Street also a perfect setting for people-watching from one of its many restaurants and cafes. It’s hard not to feel glamorous and exclusive here, whether you make a purchase or just window-shop. Romance meter says: ❤
Dine on a night cruise
Upgrade your dinner date with a cruise along the Vltava. With River Boats Prague, guests will enjoy a four-course meal and a free glass of prosecco alongside live music, not to mention breathtaking views of the Charles Bridge, Rudolfinum, National Theatre, Vysehrad, and the Dancing House. The all-inclusive cruise will set groups of two back 2390CZK for a two-and-a-half hour ride, but let’s be honest—an effortless, pre-planned night like this is worth it. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤ 10
Upgrade your room
You’re already on vacation—why not go all out? A quick hotel room upgrade is possibly the easiest way to make Valentine’s Day feel special. If you're spending your stay in a hostel or AirBnb, why not upgrade? There's several Valentine's Day options, including the Dancing House hotel, a swanky building overlooking the Prague Castle that was inspired by iconic dance duo Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. (You can’t get more romantic than that.) Our tip—get a drink at the Glass Bar on the top floor, where you can gaze at epic views of the Prague skyline from wall-to-wall windows, or brave the cold on the bar’s terrace. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤
Have dinner with a view
Don’t let Prague’s breathtaking views go to waste. Splurge on one of Prague’s many rooftop dining options, like the Dancing House hotel’s stylish Ginger and Fred, where you can enjoy adventurous dishes on the seventh floor of the building with views of the Prague Castle, Vltava River and Charles Bridge. Though it isn’t technically too far above ground, Manes is another restaurant with gorgeous views of Petrin Hill and Old Town. Romance meter says: ❤
Take a walk
Going back to basics doesn’t have to be boring. Going for a walk in Prague is a romantic venture in itself, whether you’re hitting the historic Vysehrad fortress, panoramic Letna park, or the charming Naplavka river bank, where you can marvel at the white swans that dot the Vltava. For an extra dose of romance (or two), take a trip to Petrin Hill, where a miniature Eiffel Tower is surrounded by cherry tree gardens and a statue of romantic poet Karel Hynek Mácha. Let’s just say there’s a reason couples line up to kiss in this park on May 1, Prague’s unofficial Love Day. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤
THE PRAGUE VISITOR | February 2017
Don't let the fact you're not at home stop you from sending a bouquet of roses (or whatever you desire). Our favorite florist is a small boutique shop called Lifestyle Boutique & Atelier. Designs are thoughtfully created by their staff and best of all, they speak our language (English, not love). Call Hany at :+420 607 908 369 for English orders. Tell 'em we sent you. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤
Seal your love with a lock on the Charles Bridge...but not forever
Fastening “love locks” along bridge railings has become a traditional in cities from Rome to Paris, and Prague’s Charles Bridge is no exception. Just be warned—your grand gesture may be a wasted effort, as more than 30 kg of locks are removed every week by a group aiming to protect and restore the bridge. Hey, it’s the thought that counts. But if you are looking to make a more lasting mark, take some paint to the John Lennon Wall, where visitors and citizens alike have been leaving messages since before the Velvet Revolution. While your work will likely be painted over, it’s a less wasteful way to profess your love. Romance meter says: ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Thrill Seek
For those adrenaline seeking couples, Active Czech has an ice climbing adventure for you. A frozen waterfall outside of Prague in the mountain town of Liberec provides the backdrop for your adventure. A qualified instructor takes you through the process of becoming an ice climber in this three hour climbing course. You can also climb at night – which is a bit colder, but worth the view on a clear night. Equipment is provided. Check out activeczech.com to sign up. Romance meter says: ❤

Wine bars always make for a romantic date night, but Prague is the land of beer. And in the land of beer, you don’t spend Valentine’s Day sipping vino with your loved one—you drink beer. But we’re not talking about hitting the dive bar to pound a couple pints (sorry, V-Day can’t be that easy). Instead, read on for eight craft breweries that make beer romantic, from a guided beer tasting in Prague’s second-oldest building to an intimate, Prohibition-themed bar, so you can celebrate your love with a beer in hand. Let’s face it, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day—or any day in Prague, really—without it.
20 PIP Craft Pub
Slezska 1357/1 If you’re looking for a casual spot that still packs in the charm, this Vinohrady pub is your place. 20 PIP offers, you guessed it, 20 Czech craft beers in a two-story, cozy setting. Just be sure to fill up on dinner before coming, unless you’ll be content with bar snacks. Our tip? Grab a table upstairs for charming views of the nearby Church of Ludmila.
Zlý časy
Čestmírova 390/5 Known for its vast selection of Czech craft beers, this low-key, tri-level pub also offers pub food (translation: you won’t be left fiending for drunk eats after a couple drinks). Take a break from Czech Pilsners and Lagers with great burgers and beer from across Europe in all styles, from IPA to Saison and Stout. You’ll find that many of the staff members don’t speak English, but hey, that’s the price of a real-deal Czech pub. Plus, the selection of over 40 beers and classic pub grub are sure to make up for it. Just be sure to make a reservation— Zlý časy may be located way out in Prague 4, but unfortunately it isn’t a secret.
BeerGeek
Vinohradská 988/62 If the name doesn’t give it already, BeerGeek is built for beer fanatics. The basement bar’s 30 taps change weekly, including both Czech craft breweries like Matuška and Kout na Šumavé as well as international brewers. Prices are a bit above average, but we wouldn’t recommend BeerGeek if it wasn’t worth the splurge. Also: Try the chicken wings. Trust us.
Pivotéka Illegal Beer
Ve Smečkách 590/16 Illegal’s selection may be on the smaller end, offering six beers on tap, but the ever-rotating selection means it’s a place you can return to again and again. The hole-in-the-wall New Town pub is tiny for a reason—it’s meant to capture the days of prohibition, Czech style, hence the name.
Pivovarský klub
Krizikova 17 If you’re looking for a spot that’s equally known for its food as its beer selection, head to Pivovarský klub, a restaurant offering more than 240 (yep, not a typo) bottled beers and a hearty Czech menu. Close to Old Town Square but still off the beaten path, the cozy underground vibe and extensive menu makes Pivovarský klub a favorite of locals and visitors alike. The only issue you’ll have here is trying to decide what to order. Need another reason to go, or just a way to impress your date? The pub was featured by none other than Anthony Bourdain in his Prague episode of No Reservations
Craft House Prague
Navrátilova 1421/11 For a more upscale experience, the stylish Craft House Prague is our pick. This multi-tap craft beer bar serves up 27 draft beers and more than 100
bottled beers, plus a selection of Danish open sandwiches for when the drunchies hit. New to the beer game? Opt for one of the bar’s tasting menus, which include a set of six, 100-ml beers with a choice of international, world, or imperial themes.
Prague Beer Museum
Dlouhá 720/46 Czechs have a habit of calling everything a “museum,” but Prague Beer Museum merits its title. The bar offers 30 different beers, available in sets of 150-ml tasting sizes or by the glass. It’s the perfect spot to try a variety of beers, without feeling overwhelmed by the selection. This bar doesn’t offer food, but it does serve snacks (we hear the fried brie is to die for).
Beer Club U Kunstatu
Řetězová 222/3 If a beer tasting is your goal, we recommend this underground spot, where guests are served tastings of up to 11 beers from small breweries (you won’t find Pilsner or Budvar here). Plus, tastings include an “education” from a personal host on the brewing process, differences between lagers, the history of brewing, and other facts. Also included are a plate of meats and cheeses and a tour of the building—which is actually the second-oldest in Prague.
Pivovar U Dobřanských
U Dobřenských 268/3 Pivovar U Dobřanských has a rich history of beermaking - starting around the mid 1600s. The small and well respected Staré Město pivovar always has several of their own beers on tap, including three speciality beers - Tribulus Beer 14°, Salvia Stout 14° or whatever seasonal Ale 11° is pouring at the time. The food menu is also amazing.

TRAM & METRO MAP Helpful Hint for Visitors: To look like a local on the Metro, wear your headphones. If you don’t have headphones, then play with your phone instead, or read a book or this magazine. If you’ve been drinking, just don’t act like an idiot.
Hipster Crossing
COCKTAIL GUIDE Cocktail bars in Prague get pretty busy, even during the week. It's always good to make a reservation just to make sure you get a seat (even at the bar).
TrETTER’S
8@
V kolkovne 3, Praha 1 +420 224 811 165 www.tretters.cz
The Tretter family has been in the bar business for more than 90 years. So it’s no wonder this place feels like walking into a 1930’s Paris or New York cocktail bar. With soft lighting, classic decor and bartenders dressed the part in vintage cocktail jackets, the bar has become an institution. The drinks are incredible – custom cocktails and meticulously made classics, some with a new twist. Tretter’s gets absolutely packed, sometimes out of nowhere. The trick is a reservation, so you’ll want to call ahead.
PARLOUR
8$
Krakovská 15, Praha 1 +420 777 200 015 www.parlour.cz Maybe Parlour doesn’t want to be found – and that’s fine with us. The tiny little bar at the top of Wenceslas Square near the National Museum has a delightful speakeasy vibe to it, though it’s quickly becoming a popular secret. If you should luck out and discover the nearly unmarked entry, inside you’ll find an intimate, dimly lit bar with old jazz and R&B records playing and amazing craft cocktails served in antique glassware. The good news is you don’t have to worry about finding a menu in English—there is no menu. Instead, your bartender will ask what you like and offer suggestions from there.
L'flEUR
9$
V Kolkovně 920/5, 1, Praha +420 734 255 665 www.lfleur.cz L’Fleur is just a few doors down from Tretter’s. Even before our first drink, we fell in love with 1920’s feel of the interior, complete with a Mucha-inspired stained glass window towards the back of the bar. The signature drinks all come with their own history, which your bartender is always happy to explain. If you’re feeling a bit more bubbly, try a selection from L’Fleur’s expansive champagne list.
ANONYMOUS BAR
9#
Michalská 432/12, Praha 1 +420 608 280 069 www.anonymousbar.cz It’s nearly impossible to go into the AnonymouS Bar and not smile. The bar is clever at every turn. You can tell the bartender your likes and they’ll make suggestions, or choose from the secret drink menu printed in UV ink and read with a small blacklight. Reservations are taken only until 9pm.
PROLOG
8*
Nádražní 57/108, Praha 5 +420 775 005 007 www.prologbar.cz
Prolog is about attention to detail, and they’ve clearly put thought into every aspect of their work. Take the drink menu. An American Physician weighed patients just before and after death in 1907, concluding the weight of the soul to be 21 grams—a moment that inspired Prolog’s 21-drink menu, which serves a reminder to patrons to celebrate life. Seven of those 21 drinks are named after the Seven Deadly Sins.
LE VALMONT
9)
Uhelný trh 414/9, Praha 1 +420 224 267 266 www.levalmont.cz
Le Valmont is a newcomer, just opened in Spring 2016. The Michael Van Cleef Ault concept was inspired by the Milos Forman movie of the same name, and is decorated in 18th-century French fashion with aubusson carpets, antique sofas, and massive crystal chandeliers. Just take note of the strict dress code at Le Valmont— no hats, hoodies, shorts, tank tops or sandals. Reservations are all but required, since the 100-capacity lounge fills up fairly quickly.
BLACK ANGEL’S
8#
Nestled in a cozy cellar just across from the Old Town astronomical clock, Black Angel’s will put you in sensory overload. With high cellar ceilings, chandeliers, and ornate decor, it’s a lot to take in. The only downside to Black Angels is the influx of tourists which can pack the place, especially groups.
OBLACA
9@
Žižkov Television Tower Mahlerovy sady 2699/1, Praha 3 + 420 210 320 086 www.oblaca.cz
Bugsy’s is another bar with a great history, popping up just after the Velvet Revolution. Their one constant has been their attention to detail and passion for good cocktails. Bugsy’s also loves their bubbly, and boasts over 130 brands in stock, as well as over 90 single malt whiskeys and 100 types of rum.
High atop the Žižkov Television Tower, Oblaca is making better cocktails through science. Oblaca’s Aleš J. Števlík, genius mixologist gone mad scientist (maybe that explains the drink served in a test tube). Števlík deploys molecular mixology in his cocktail designs, exploring the physical and chemical transformations of ingredients that occur when making a cocktail. And what better laboratory for Števlík to create his unconventional concoctions than high above Prague in one of the most unconventional buildings in Europe.

BUGSY’S

9!
Kaprova 19/5, Praha 1 +420 224 813 922 www.labodeguitadelmedio.cz
Chances are, if you’ve asked around, you’ve already been recommended to Hemingway’s Bar. The Old Town hotspot just made the “World’s Top 50 Bars” for the third time, and with good reason. The bar’s philosophy is that every customer must have a seat, so you won’t feel overcrowded here. So reservations are recommended.
CASH ONLY BAR

With it's colonial-style interior straight from Old Havana, La Bodeguita is on point. In addition to great food, bar staff have perfected their craft with regional drinks, from the Cuba Libre to the Mojito. There's a live Cuban band several nights of the week and an amazing cigar selection as well (La Bodeguita was one of the first cigar bars in Prague). Bodeguita is synonymous with great entertainment, Mojitos, wild parties, dancing, original gastronomy and unforgettable experiences.
Just around the corner from its older sibling Hemingway’s, this little gem is making its own name with cocktails like Pin-Up Martini, made with passion fruit, vanilla and champagne. It’s an intimate bar, and they don’t take reservations. There’s also no smoking and, you guessed it— the bar doesn’t take credit cards. Oh, and by the way, they do serve amazing hot dogs..

Bar & Books is the first overseas extension of the famous New York family of bars, with two locations in Prague (the more casual in Manisova and slightly more formal in Týnská). The bar evokes the feeling of a gentleman’s library. Dim lighting, heavy woods, ornately framed paintings, and of course books (though mostly for visual aesthetics). The cocktails here are serious business, and if you’re looking for a nice Cuban to go with your drink, this is the place to be.

Gin, lime, sugar, lemon marmalade and a touch of lemongrass.

CLUB GUIDE
Our Quick Guide to where all the cool kids go AFTER MIDNIGHT
Roxy 6%
Dlouhá 33, Prague 1
The Roxy is one of Prague’s oldest and bestknown clubs. The venue was a popular theatre and ballroom in the 1920’s, but now you’ll find drum and bass, house, techno, and other modern styles on the dancefloor. When the club isn’t hosting a live DJ, it’s the spot for concerts and music festivals.
Lucerna 6^ Vodičkova 36
One of the largest and most popular music clubs in Prague, Lucerna is known for its weekly concerts and events. But it’s maybe most popular on Friday and Saturday nights, when the club’s huge projection screens come alive with 80’s and 90’s music videos. Partygoers of every age and all walks of life can be seen here, getting down to oldie hits from Blondie to Nirvana.
Cross Club 6& Plynární 23, Prague 7 www.crossclub.cz
Cross Club is a labyrinth of small bars and dancefloors pumping music from dubstep and techno to reggae. The club’s psychedelic, industrial décor is a sight to see in itself—every piece of the building, from the walls to the ceiling, is constructed to move and pulsate with the music. It’s one of the most unique experiences you’ll have with nightlife in Praha, but you might want to grab an Uber. Cross Club is a bit out of the city’s center, but worth the trek.
Meet Factory 6* Ke Sklárně 3213/15 www.meetfactory.cz
This music club, art gallery, theater and cinema is the brainchild of David Černý, the artist responsible for some of Prague’s most famous (and controversial) modern art. A refurbished warehouse stuffed between a motorway and railroad tracks in Smíchov, Meet Factory transforms by night into a hip bar and music venue, where you’ll find local singers and international tours alike.
M1 Lounge 6( Masná 1, Prague 1 www.m1lounge.com
M1 Lounge is a favorite of locals, expats and even passing-through celebrities, and it’s not
hard to see why. The club’s well-known team of skilled DJs keep the place pumping with a mixture of R&B, hip-hop, electro and dance music until the wee hours of morning, and the upscale, luxurious atmosphere makes every night feel like a celebration. As an added plus, M1 is also conveniently located in the very center of the city.
hip hop, punk, psychobilly and more can be heard on a weekly basis. This is one of the oldest functioning clubs in Prague and if you’re into it take bus no. 176 up to the Strahov hill and enjoy the vibe...
James Dean 7)
One for the curious bored or brave. Retro has become the Czech home of hard house. Their club nights are full to the rafters until the small hours while go-go dancers whip the energetic clubbers into a house driven frenzy. A very friendly atmosphere with smiling faces and sweating brows as far as the eye can see, there are more locals and fewer tourists here than some of the other large clubs with amazing DJ’s, lasers, and vibes. Dress code is free and easy, flamboyant if you’re feeling daring.
V kolkovně 922/1 www.jamesdean.cz/
Okay, we admit that this one’s kind of kitschy— but only in the best way. Named for the iconic rebel and actor, the bar has a classic 1950’s American diner feel, complete with checkered floors, red vinyl upholstery and lots of chrome. Famous for its larger-than-life statue of James Dean, it also serves some of the best burgers, milkshakes, and French fries in town.
NEONE 7@
Bubenská 1 www.lunchmeat.cz/

Radost FX 7# Bělehradská 120, Prague 2 radostfx.cz
First opened in the early ‘90s just a few years after the Velvet Revolution, Radost FX is open Thursday to Saturday and offers the best of house, R&B and hip hop music—Rihanna even filmed one of her music videos there. Above the club is the venue’s restaurant and cafe, well-known as one of the best brunch spots in all of Prague.

Chapeau Rouge is a music clubs that ranks among the biggest in Prague with 3 floors, 4 bars & 3 stages. Chapeau truly has something for everyone! You may even stumble upon it all on your own: it’s in the center right behind Old Town Square and usually has some cool kids smoking a joint right outside its doors. The ground floor of Chapeau is a chill place to meet people from all over the world: travelers and expats alike. Go down one more floor and you’ll come across the dance club where international and local DJs blast out their beats playing pretty much 7 days a week with music in the main bar area being truly eclectic: everything from Balkan rhythms to drum & bass.

bar upstairs and an underground, cave-like labyrinth downstairs. When you walk in, don’t stop on the top level. All that is up here is a normal looking bar. Keep walking until you hit the stairs that descend into one of the coolest places to drink on Earth... It is indeed smoky, but get past that and the place is just mythic.
Chic, fashionable and a whole lotta fun! One of the very first smoke-free establishments in Prague entertains the crowds all day every day. The night is the time when true party colours of La Loca show. International vibes mixed with a scrumptious selection of sizzling drinks are a guarantee of a big night-out. Add a carefully selected music program - karaoke, 80s & 90s retro parties, DJ performances, live concerts and rooftop gatherings in the summer - and you can rest assured knowing you'll very likely to create memories to remember for a lifetime. Also, some of the most iconic pieces of art in Prague are situated at La Loca.
Café 80's 8)
You can't go wrong with 80's music. Whether you're nostaligic or just appreciative of all things "totally awesome", the two-story venue does features an 80's themed café restaurant on the first floor. But, the real story here is the basement. A nicely sized music club with an illuminated dance floor, plus a large bar and VIP lounge make it a night worthy of the MTV generation.

Medieval Art in Bohemia and Central Europe
Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia U Milosrdnych 17, Prague 1 Permanent Exhibition
A newly conceived exhibition of medieval and early Renaissance art was opened in November 2000 in the authentic environment of the first convent of the Poor Clares in Bohemia, probably founded in 1231 by St Agnes of Bohemia, the daughter of Přemysl Otakar I. The first part of the exhibition on the first floor traces the development of Czech art from the panel paintings and sculptures of the mid-14th century. Bohemian and Moravian works from the 15th and early 16th centuries are confronted with works from other Central European regions with which Bohemia enjoyed close cultural ties at that time. The venerable Master of the Lamentation of Christ from Žebrák is represented at the exhibition with key works documenting the high standard of carving in Southern Bohemia, whilst the influence of the Danube school (for example, the painting by Albrecht Altdorfer) is reflected in the work of Master IP. 70 to 100 CZK Exhibition, Bohemia, Painting, Classic

The world’s best Staropramen is served in the same building where it’s made. It doesn’t get any better than the Staropramen that we serve. Twice a week, the brewmasters from the Staropramen brewery come by and assure that it’s of the upmost quality and standards. In fact, we even have an emergency hotline straight to the brewmaster. How did we get so lucky? It’s based on our history. Na Verandách has been around since nearly the inception of the brewery, and our longstanding friendship shows in everything we do. From our recent renovation which showcases brewery elements in our design, to our thoughtfully crafted menu which perfectly pairs the highest quality Czech cuisine with it’s beer counterpart, Na Verandách is proud of what we do. We invite you to come and see for yourself. Stop by for a pint and a great meal. We hope to see you soon.
