When did you realize you had a story that needed to be shared?

After finishing my first book, I realized I am a mental abuse survivor From there, I wanted to share my book and my struggles and help one person know that you can reach out to get help without judgment My goal is to break or bend the stigma that asking for help is not cool You are not weak; it’s the opposite You are stronger for reaching out for help

Tell us about your book, Is This Me? Am I Her? What message are you hoping readers take away from your work? My book covers me being a survivor of mental abuse I was a functioning alcoholic from middle school through college Because I didn’t know how my mother would react from one moment to the next, I made some decisions based on how I thought my mother would react, which still to this day bothers me There is one thing that I stress in the book: I still cry every Mother’s Day You know how you see the daughters or mothers posting photos of their Mothers day outings? That was the one thing I always wanted I always wanted to go out with my mother or stay home and have fun with her, but that never happened

I would love for my readers to take from the book that they are stronger than they think They can make it through some of the worst things in life and turn them into something that can help someone else There’s plenty of room in this world for stories to be shared If you help one person, your effort counts for something.

You have traveled around the US sharing your book’s message. Where do you hope to see your work next?

I would love to see my books selling internationally To get a request to come to another country to participate in a book festival would be amazing

You are a writer and entrepreneur How do you balance the day-to-day demands of both passions?

Wow, that is a good question I have a full-time job with one of our high schools and work the sporting events I think the thing that keeps me on task is my planner I have the old-school planner; I have all events color coded When I open the book, I know what needs to be addressed for the week

When Friday comes, I write down a to-do list for the weekend I must be diligent about keeping up with everything I need to do One day I hope to have a personal assistant
