Suhay Gonzalez strives to be a motivational Latina entrepreneur Growing up in The Bronx, New York, she was fascinated by graffiti and soon found ways to express her artistry through makeup She obtained her degree in Business Administration and Accounting and continued her education by attending Yale University’s School of Management to enhance her leadership and management skills, followed by executive education courses at Harvard Business School She earned her position as Chief Financial Officer; her professional career with the federal government has been instrumental Managing significant transformational changes and unprecedented challenges brought forth by the pandemic has been a positive contribution as a servant leader

Suhay Gonzalez, the sixth child of her Dominican father, found serenity after losing her mother to Glioblastoma Brain Cancer by launching her own company, Seis Cosmetics

As the founder and CEO, Ms Gonzalez merged her passion for finance and her love for makeup As a woman of color, it was important for her to be diverse by sharing inclusive creativity with everyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, or gender. Seis Cosmetics offers a variety of products from Sugar Lip Scrub and overnight Rose Lip Mask to exfoliate, nourish and hydrate your lips

The brand is 100% funded and owned by Ms Gonzalez Seis Cosmetics is a bootstrapped Latina-owned company founded by a woman who aims to create an opportunity for makeup enthusiasts to wear proudly Seis Cosmetics has been featured in NBC 6 in the Mix, Univision’s Despierta America, Shout Out Miami, People en Español, Business Journal, and Florida Trends and received a beauty award from Hola! USA Ms Gonzalez is an indie brand owner with a philanthropist soul who is proud to make her impact on this world while making people feel beautiful

If you could use five words to describe yourself outside of entrepreneurship, what would they be and why?

You have spent many years working as a Chief Financial Officer How did this role groom you to become your own boss?

I sincerely believe that my mother’s love for cosmetics was instrumental Everyone’s relationship with makeup is a personal and unique experience

Tell us about life growing up in the Bronx. How did your childhood prepare you for who you are today?

Growing up in New York prepared me to deal with a variety of individuals regardless of ethnicity It’s provided me the capability to expand my mindset bandwidth New York prepared me to work hard, be proud of what I do, overcome obstacles, and preserver in the face of adversity It also set me up to collaborate with others, which is an essential perspective as an entrepreneur My upbringing made me resourceful and flexible and geared me to continuously seek improvement while remaining true to myself

My role as Chief Financial Officer groomed me to ensure the foundation of my business was financially established, and my business plan embraced the values of my mission My education has been instrumental to my development. Leadership, skillset, and strategic planning led to the successful development and launch of Seis Cosmetics I never shy away from hard work, regardless of how much I achieve The insight into a complex integrated world has been instrumental, especially when it comes to maintaining integrity

When did you realize you had a passion for Makeup?

My passion for makeup started early on For me, I realized makeup was a way to express my creativity With lots of patience, I taught myself how to apply my own and have always played around with lipstick shades

Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years?

I want to get involved with more organizations conducting research studies on Glioblastoma brain tumors. Seis Cosmetics was inspired by my mother after she lost her battle to cancer My mother loved makeup, and creating this business was my way of converting sadness into something exceptionally beautiful; there is pride in saying we are “Superior Cosmetics with a Cause ”

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?

My meaning of Pretty Woman Who Hustles is an educated, independent, determined woman who can walk into any situation because she is a driven, ambitious individual who works hard to achieve their goals and create success for themselves
