JAI COOK, CPRW ENTREPRENEUR SPOTLIGHT It was through my forgiveness and empathy that I wanted to help others... Jai Cook was born in Kentucky, where she was raised in foster care due to her biological parents not being able to properly care for her. Jai’s environment while in foster care wasn’t the best, as she was bullied in school, suffered from selfloathing, and was a victim of unspeakable abuse. Jai reveals at a pivotal point in her life, when she was ready to give up, she became a mother and vowed to be a better mother to her child than her foster mother was to her. Unfortunately, coming from an environment of hardships, Jai didn’t know what she wanted to be when she grew up until she became a College Career Advisor in 2013. As a College Career Advisor, Jai counseled students from marginalized communities and was able to relate to their situations. Jai helped students overcome obstacles by helping them reach their educational and career goals. In 2013, Jai found her true calling in Career Development and obtained her certification as a Professional Resume Writer and Certified Career Coach from the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches. With a clear vision for her life and helping others reach their true potential through social, economic, and career empowerment, Jai founded Jai Consulting LLC in Charlotte, NC, in 2017. Jai Consulting LLC’s mission is “Connecting People to Their Purpose.” Clients of Jai Consulting LLC can navigate through life’s hardships, identify obstacles in their way, and create realistic goals to live a better life. Jai is known nationally and internationally as Jai The Resume Doctor.

With every success story, there is a great person who has endured some pain. On December 18, 2019, seven days before Christmas, Jai was let go from her generous salaried Corporate job. It was on that day Jai decided to take her years of treating her business like a “side hustle” and do her own Career-Pulse check and she has never looked back. To date, clients of Jai The Resume Doctor have earned six-figure salaries without having a college degree. As the CEO of Jai The Resume Doctor, Jai can connect with clients who feel undervalued at work and underappreciated. She took the pain of her job loss and turned it into her full-time calling of Resume Writing and Career Development. Jai The Resume Doctor is celebrating her 10th anniversary as a Certified Professional Resume Writer. Along with her CPRW credentials, Jai holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from her alma mater, The University of Kentucky, is a Motivational Speaker and has been featured on several media and print outlets. Jai has been aiding people with their career burdens through resume writing and connecting people with jobs that are the best fit for them. Her business is thriving like never before, and she is exceeding her expectations. Jai’s advice to any job seeker or entrepreneur reading this article, life is meant to be lived, not merely exist. Schedule your Career-Pulse check today!

Outside of business and entrepreneurship, who is Jai Cook? I am a Christian, and I give thanks to my Heavenly Father for not giving up on me when I wanted to give up on myself. A voice for the voiceless who have suffered unimaginable societal obstacles in life and who never gave up. My proudest achievement in life is raising a strong, compassionate daughter who is effortlessly graceful and humble. I am an avid college basketball enthusiast. Go UK Wildcats! I am a friend to those in need of a listening ear and a confidant to those who feel lost. Take us to the very beginning. When did you first discover your interest in entrepreneurship, specifically your niche in helping connect others to their purpose?

I first realized entrepreneurship was for me in 2009 when I started AyresVoice Motivational Speaking Company. The mission of my company is Always Yearning Reaching for Excellence and Success, in which the first letter of each word spells out the name of my company. Although I used to stutter when I spoke and had a speech impediment, many people often told me there was healing in my voice and that my story was relatable to many. After I began telling my story of overcoming child abuse, bullying, self-loathing, and selfdoubt to audiences nationwide, I realized that my story was relatable to my audience, and they trusted me enough to share similar experiences. Once I was able to help my speaking audience understand how to heal from past hurts in their personal lives, they were now ready to heal from career hurts. You began your journey as a College Career Advisor. How did that journey prepare you for where you are today with Jai Consulting LLC? As a Career Advisor, I counseled students from marginalized communities and was able to help them upskill themselves in the trade, technology, and medical industries without having a college degree. In 2013, I found my true calling in Career Development and obtained my certification as a Professional Resume Writer and Certified Career Coach from the Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches. As a Certified Professional Resume Writer, I am the CEO of Jai Consulting LLC helping clients get the careers they deserve, and earn respectable wages without having a college degree. In 2013, 10 years ago, I advised students from different socioeconomic backgrounds on career development and used that compassion and work ethic in 2023 for my current clients. What impact have you witnessed on your clients? My clients have made an average of $4000 - $60,000 more annually by utilizing my career coaching, resume writing services, and job interview etiquette. I help my clients leverage all new skills learned, certifications obtained, and additional job responsibilities performed into salary negotiation strategies.

Can you share with us your journey, starting from your challenging childhood in foster care to becoming the successful CEO of Jai The Resume Doctor? I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, and have one daughter. The birth of my daughter gave my life purpose. At a pivotal point in my life, when I was ready to give up, I became a mother, and my daughter’s birth gave me my voice back. I am the youngest of six children in my biological family. Born from a mentally ill mother and a poorly educated father, my biological mother befriended my foster mother, and I was placed with the Cook family at age 6 months. Unfortunately, my foster mother was battling alcoholism, and I was the victim of unfortunate circumstances. I was bullied in school by my peers for how I dressed, spoke, and walked. I wasn’t the cool kid and wore the clothes of my foster brothers because my foster mother used government funds on her biological kids. Growing up, I suffered from depression and self-loathing. I used to be angry at my foster mother for many years until I understood she had an illness. With professional help from counselors and support from family and friends, I learned to cope with my circumstances and forgive. It was through my forgiveness and empathy that I wanted to help others and career coaching became my calling. From my pain, Jai The Resume Doctor was born to serve others. Why the Resume Doctor? Think about the last time you booked an appointment with a primary care physician. Often, people talk about their physical and mental health being essential to living a stress-free life and visit their doctor to achieve this. While on the other hand, their career health is usually neglected. According to an article by NBC News, half of Americans are not happy and less engaged with their job. A doctor is defined as a qualified practitioner of medicine. Jai The Resume Doctor is a qualified practitioner of career coaching! Jai The Resume Doctor will check your CareerPulse and give a career diagnosis based on the symptoms found. The common career symptoms clients of Jai The Resume Doctor experience, which cause unhappiness at work, are low wages, a hostile workplace environment, code-switching, and poor leadership. When was the last time you did a Career-Pulse check?

What sets Jai The Resume Doctor apart in the field of career coaching? I am just like my client sitting in the chair getting career advice. I don’t tell clients what they want to hear; some sessions are uncomfortable, but I genuinely care. I have coached on Thanksgiving because I wanted to make sure my client was prepared for their job interview on Monday; the turkey can wait. I coach with empathy and help my clients discover the skills they never knew they had. My coaching sessions are like talking to a trusted friend on the phone about your dreams and aspirations and coming up with realistic goals. I share my personal experiences of layoffs, low-paying jobs, and hostile work environments and how these unfortunate circumstances developed my confidence as both a job seeker and entrepreneur. While these sessions can be emotional for my clients, they understand I am trying to prepare them for this competitive job market. I have been laid off! I have been paid low wages based on my gender! I have had managers who were less qualified than I was! I have witnessed nepotism and bias, but I never gave up. I coach from a glassis-half-full mentality, and by the end of the session, my clients are thankful that I saw their potential past their doubts. How do you inspire and motivate individuals to pursue their career goals, especially in the face of adversity? My advice is to pivot your career into a skill you have always wanted to do. Do your research on that industry, read books, find a mentor who is in that profession, and ask for advice. If you are unable to work in the industry you want right now, it is ok to work as a delivery driver for companies such as Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats. Why, you may ask? These jobs will help you sharpen your customer service, problemsolving, and communication skills, which are needed in any industry. Also, you can make money while you are in your career transition. When I lost my salaried job in 2019, I was an Instacart Driver and made $700 in one week. I was able to pay my bills, network, pass out my resumes to my deliveries, and not allow depression to take over. The key to success is to keep moving, just keep moving. www.jaiconsultingllc.com @JaiTheResumeDoctor

AMBER

NICHOLE

STULTZ Amber Nichole Stultz, known as @AmberNicholeMedia on Instagram, is a Spring 2017 initiate of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a member of Alpha Phi Omega Co-ed Service Fraternity, a higher education professional, and a social media influencer. www.AmberNicholeMedia.com

In 2018, Amber Nichole became a social media entrepreneur inspired by Amber Nichole’s membership in Zeta for social media advertising and promotion services. In recent years, Amber Nichole expanded the social media business to include content creation and IG Live segments. Amber Nichole created and currently hosts IG Lives on @PhiBetaNation as a way to promote culture, educate our community, and highlight various members of Zeta and our constitutionally bounded brothers of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. from all industries. Amber Nichole has a Pentecostal upbringing and chose to become a Zeta as the sorority has a faithbased foundation with an impact at a global level. Becoming a Zeta meant that Amber Nichole has the opportunity to personally grow in alignment with Amber Nichole’s core value of service to others, and Amber Nichole is honored to be able to use Amber Nichole’s talents to showcase Black excellence along with the history that members of Zeta Phi Beta and Phi Beta Sigma are making today.

Amber Nichole holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from The Ohio State University and a Master of Science degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Purdue University Global.

Take us back to the very beginning of your journey, which begins with joining your sorority. Can you tell us about that experience and how it prepared you for leadership today? The reasons I joined my sorority were to grow professionally, to extend my professional network, and to serve the community. I enjoyed the members as well as the different initiatives that Zeta has to offer, from local levels to international impact. Members of my sorority are trailblazers and created with the support of constitutionally bound brothers in Sigma. As a graduate member, I enjoyed that I had a great foundation of who I was and what my personal values were, and I was an emerging professional.

Joining Zeta not only taught me how to set goals but also how to pivot as needed rather than giving up when presented with different challenges in what was a newer level of adulthood for me as lessons. I still carry these lessons with me today. Being a Zeta has provided me with a network of resources from our Sigma brothers to our extended Divine Nine network, which I personally like to refer to other organizations as cousins, to support each other both personally and professionally as we support our communities. As a leader, Zeta has prepared me to work collaboratively with others and to understand the common goals despite personal differences and approaches to getting the work done. I used this to transform a committee within a professional association within Higher Education and grew in leadership from a programming role to the leader of this professional association committee. What inspired you to tap into the world of social media and become an influencer? What would you say is your niche? My niche is that @PhiBetaNation provides a platform to highlight the various journeys of Zetas and Sigmas beyond our letters and get to the core of who we are as people. Although I joined Zeta as a graduate member, I was only a couple of years removed from undergraduate studies and a paraprofessional. Being at a younger age in a graduate chapter, I felt I was sometimes in an awkward middle where I had more commonalities in life with the undergraduate members or recent graduate members who faced the challenges, as well as the excitement, of emerging into the next level of adulthood. Yet, I was inspired by the work of more mature Sorors who not only put in time to have an active role with the chapter but were wives, mothers, and careeroriented women as well. Social media provided me with an outlet to unify the Blue and White (referring to both Zeta and Sigma) experience as well as highlight the organizations beyond the popularity of stepping and strolling. My goal at first was to have the blog serve as a digital version of family portraits so that I could share various Blue and White stories with the world. As the blog grew, I learned I could convert this passion into a formal business. By hosting IG Live segments, I could combine my background in Higher Education and Communications to use social media as a way to educate, empower, and inspire the extended Greek community, the Black community, and supporters through our journeys.

Your social media platform, @PhiBetaNation (revised from @AmberNicholeMedia), has evolved from advertising/promotion services to content creation and IG Live segments. Can you tell us about the motivation behind this expansion and the impact you aim to create with your content? I received comments on the page implying that Greek members basically danced and would just like to party. I found myself often replying to such comments by highlighting the work, resources, and national initiatives that members of both organizations engage in. Although we often go viral for stepping and strolling, these comments inspired me to cultivate the narrative that Zetas and Sigmas are educators, leaders, and innovators. I love being able to showcase the current history of members in our organizations. Regarding Blue and White, we tend to be underrepresented in other Greek platforms in comparison to other organizations. I am glad to have created a platform from a Blue and White member not only to connect other Blue and White members, but to showcase our stories more broadly. As an influencer and being known for promoting culture and education, how do you balance entertainment with providing valuable insights and information on your platforms? I often repost chapter events, chapter anniversaries (referred to as Charter Days), and other major milestone events (i.e., graduation, job promotions, etc.) of the members. Members and supporters have the opportunity to participate in polls, nominate members or chapters, and submit topics for our lG Live Segments. Additionally, we have conducted giveaways, discount codes, etc. I am also very intentional about sending voice messages to members who follow our pages and going to events to build relationships with the community and vendors. What’s next for you? Where do you hope to see your platform in the next 3-5 years? Expansion of social media platforms. My first social media platform of choice was Instagram as the major trend in 2018. I have expanded to TikTok and would like to host Live sessions on TikTok as well and eventually YouTube. Additionally, expanding to provide more representation of Blue and White Members to outlets that include all D9 and Black Leaders, more generally speaking. Disclaimer: The views, opinions, and experiences expressed in this @prettywomenhustle magazine publication are shared by the individual and are not connected to the National headquarters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated or official business involving the sorority.

ENTREPRENEUR SPOTLIGHT

CLARICE N I X O N Clarice is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She’s a wife, mother of 5, and grandmother of 2. Clarice has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and has worked in financial management for 21 years, with the majority of her experience being in the private sector.

Her most recent career path was with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as the Budget Analyst, and after 4 years, she moved on to the United States Coast Guard as the Chief of Finance and Accounting. She has since retired from her job and is a full-time entrepreneur.

Clarice also serves as the Executive Director for her non-profit organization, At The Well. It is tailored to helping youth discover a path to success through various trades with hands-on teaching and also spreading the love of Jesus to all whom she encounters.

She realized she had a passion for teaching financial literacy and was doing so in many different capacities and, in 2021 decided to do it full time. She is the proud owner of JCN Financial Solutions, where she teaches individuals about all things finance related. By becoming a Certified Financial Literacy Instructor, she has developed a course where she teaches her clients unique ways to look at their finances and the best ways to build a legacy of wealth.

She has been a faithful volunteer with her church for about 15 years in the Sunday School Ministry, Youth & Young Adult Ministry, and Marriage Ministry. This is where she discovered her love for teaching and speaking about the word of God.

She also has a passion for Real Estate and has started investing in 2022. Clarice has found that she has a passion and desire to restore old homes in her city and bring the neighborhood where she grew up back to life. She’s currently working on a historic property and has plans to revitalize her old neighborhood one property at a time.

Her favorite phrase that she believes describes her best is:

She has also formed an online community with over 42K followers (and growing). Clarice is passionate about encouraging people to discover who they are in God’s eyes.

“I love the person I’ve become because I fought to become her.” - Kaci Diane.

Your career has spanned 21 years in Financial Management, culminating in positions with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the United States Coast Guard. How has your extensive experience in the private sector shaped your approach to teaching Financial Literacy with JCN Financial Solutions? I gained invaluable insights into the practical aspects of finance and the challenges individuals face in managing their money effectively. Working in diverse roles, including as a Budget Analyst for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and later as the Chief of Finance and Accounting for the United States Coast Guard, provided me with a comprehensive understanding of financial systems, budgeting processes, and the intricate workings of financial decision-making within organizations. This hands-on experience has allowed me to translate complex financial concepts into practical, real-world applications for individuals seeking to enhance their financial literacy. I draw upon the lessons learned in the private sector to create content and courses that address the everyday financial concerns and goals of my clients. Ultimately, my journey in the private sector has infused a practical and results-oriented approach into JCN Financial Solutions. I am dedicated to helping individuals not only understand financial principles but also apply them effectively to improve their financial well-being and build a lasting legacy of financial success. In 2021, you made the transition to full-time entrepreneurship, focusing on teaching Financial Literacy. What inspired you to pursue this passion, and how has becoming a Certified Financial Literacy Instructor influenced your teaching approach? I was inspired by the lack of financial literacy information that’s available in underserved areas. Growing up in an underserved area, I wasn’t taught financial literacy, and i had to learn it by way of education and some mistakes i made as a young adult. I witnessed firsthand the empowerment that comes with understanding and mastering financial principles. Becoming a Certified Financial Literacy Instructor was a pivotal moment in my journey. It represented a deliberate commitment to share my expertise and contribute to the financial education landscape.

This certification not only validated my knowledge but also provided me with additional tools and resources to enhance my teaching approach. One of the key influences of obtaining this certification has been the ability to structure and deliver content in a way that caters to diverse learning styles. It has allowed me to create targeted and comprehensive courses that break down complex financial concepts into digestible, practical lessons. By integrating various teaching methods, I aim to reach a broader audience and make financial education accessible and engaging for everyone. JCN Financial Solutions aims to teach unique ways of looking at finances and building a legacy of wealth. Can you share some key principles or strategies you emphasize in your courses? I emphasize several key principles and strategies to empower individuals in their financial journeys. Here are some of the core aspects I focus on: Budgeting Basics: I stress the importance of creating and maintaining a realistic budget as the foundation of sound financial management. This includes tracking income and expenses and identifying areas for potential savings. Emergency Fund Planning: I emphasize the significance of building and maintaining an emergency fund to provide a financial safety net. This helps individuals navigate unexpected expenses without derailing their overall financial stability. Debt Management: I guide participants in understanding different types of debt, prioritizing debt repayment, and developing strategies to manage and reduce debt effectively. This includes exploring debt consolidation options and negotiating with creditors. Legacy Building: I encourage individuals to consider their long-term financial legacy. This involves estate planning, creating wills, and making decisions that contribute to the financial well-being of future generations. Credit Management: I provide insights into understanding credit scores, improving credit history, and using credit responsibly. This knowledge is crucial for obtaining favorable interest rates and accessing financial opportunities.

Behavioral Finance: I integrate principles of behavioral finance, helping participants understand their own financial behaviors and biases. Recognizing and addressing these behaviors is crucial for making informed and rational financial decisions. Apart from financial literacy, you’ve ventured into Real Estate investing, starting in 2022. What sparked your interest in Real Estate, and how do you envision revitalizing your old neighborhood through this venture? My interest in Real Estate was sparked by a combination of personal connection and a desire to contribute to the revitalization of my old neighborhood. Growing up in the community, I witnessed firsthand the changes it underwent over the years, and I developed a deep sense of attachment to its history and potential. The decision to venture into Real Estate in 2022 was driven by a passion for restoring old homes and a vision to breathe new life into the neighborhood where I spent my formative years. Real Estate, for me, is not just an investment opportunity; it’s a means to preserve the character of my community and contribute to its positive transformation. Through thoughtful property investments, community engagement, and a focus on holistic development, I aspire to contribute to the creation of a neighborhood that residents are proud to call home—a place that honors its past while embracing a sustainable and vibrant future. You are the Executive Director of the non-profit organization At The Well, focused on helping youth transition out of foster care and giving them the tools needed to navigate life. How did the idea for this organization come about, and what impact has it had on the community? The idea for “At The Well” emerged from a deep concern for the challenges faced by youth transitioning out of foster care and a commitment to providing them with essential tools for navigating life successfully. Witnessing the struggles and limited resources available to these young individuals, I felt a strong calling to create an organization that would address the unique needs of this vulnerable population.

The inspiration stemmed from recognizing the critical juncture these young people face as they age out of foster care, often lacking a support system to guide them through the complexities of adulthood. The vision for “At The Well” was born out of a desire to be a wellspring of support, offering not just immediate assistance but empowering them with skills and knowledge that would foster longterm resilience. “At The Well” focuses on three core pillars— careers/trades, life coaching, and financial literacy. Recognizing that a well-rounded approach is essential, the organization aims to equip these young individuals with practical skills for the workforce, hands-on training in trades, and a solid foundation in financial literacy. By addressing these aspects comprehensively, we strive to enhance their employability, self-sufficiency, and overall wellbeing. As a new organization, the impact “At The Well” intends to have in the community will be profound. Through targeted programs and initiatives, we plan to witness positive transformations in the lives of the youth we serve. Key outcomes we expect include: Employability and Career Development: By providing career guidance, resume building, and interview preparation, we aim to see young individuals secure meaningful employment opportunities. Trades and Hands-On Training: Through partnering with another organization, the inclusion of trades in our programs will allow participants to explore practical skills and foster a sense of accomplishment and self-efficacy. This exposure to various trades empowers them to pursue alternative career paths and provides a foundation for future success. Financial Literacy and Independence: The emphasis on financial literacy will equip youth and young adults with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions. This includes budgeting, understanding credit, and planning for their futures. Empowering them with financial literacy skills contributes to their overall independence and stability. Community Engagement and Support: “At The Well” will become a hub for community engagement, creating a supportive network for young individuals transitioning out of foster care.

The sense of belonging and encouragement will positively impact their mental and emotional wellbeing. Long-Term Empowerment: The organization’s holistic approach aims to instill a sense of empowerment that extends beyond immediate assistance. By providing tools for long-term success, “At The Well” is making a lasting impact on the lives of these youth, breaking the cycle of dependency and fostering a path toward independence and fulfillment. With over 42K followers in your online community, you’ve created a significant platform. What inspired you to start this community, and how do you use it to encourage people to discover their identity in God’s eyes? The inspiration to start my online community was fueled by a deep-seated passion for creating a space where individuals could come together, share experiences, and embark on a journey of selfdiscovery through the lens of faith. The desire to provide a platform for encouragement, inspiration, and spiritual growth prompted the inception of this community. Several factors inspired the creation of this digital space: Connecting with a Wider Audience: Recognizing the power and reach of online platforms, I saw an opportunity to connect with individuals globally. The online community allows me to transcend geographical boundaries and reach people from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. Encouraging Spiritual Growth: The core motivation behind the community is to create an environment where individuals can explore and deepen their spiritual journey. By sharing insights, reflections, and resources, the community serves as a virtual sanctuary for those seeking spiritual growth and a deeper connection with their faith. Fostering a Supportive Community: Many people crave a sense of community and belonging, especially in the digital age. The online platform provides a space where individuals can share their joys, challenges, and prayers.

The sense of community fosters a supportive environment where everyone is encouraged on their unique spiritual paths. Empowering Personal Growth: The community serves as a catalyst for personal growth and self-discovery. By sharing messages of encouragement, empowerment, and faith, I aim to inspire individuals to explore their identity in the context of their relationship with God, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Utilizing the Power of Testimonies: Personal testimonies are powerful tools for inspiration and connection. The community encourages individuals to share their stories, struggles, and triumphs, creating a tapestry of diverse experiences that resonate with others and demonstrate the transformative power of faith. In using this platform to encourage people to discover their identity in God’s eyes, I employ several strategies: Scriptural Reflections: Regularly sharing scriptural reflections and passages that highlight the unconditional love and acceptance offered by God. This serves as a foundation for individuals to anchor their identity in their divine connection. Interactive Discussions: Fostering interactive discussions where community members can share their perspectives, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations about faith, identity, and purpose. Positive Affirmations: Incorporating positive affirmations and messages that reinforce the inherent worth and value individuals have in God’s eyes. This serves as a daily reminder of their identity as cherished and unique beings. Ultimately, the online community is a dynamic and evolving space dedicated to fostering spiritual exploration, connection, and empowerment. By combining the power of digital connectivity with faith-based messages, the platform seeks to inspire individuals on their journey to discover their identity in the loving embrace of God. About Veritas Body & Wellness: Veritas Body & Wellness is a pioneering health and wellness company founded by Carina Gittens (RN) and ShiCara Holiday, a chiropractic assistant. By merging their expertise, the company offers a comprehensive range of services and products aimed at promoting holistic well-being. Their commitment to empowering individuals to take control of their health makes them a transformative force in the industry. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind Veritas Body & Wellness and how your background as a nurse and a chiropractic assistant led to its start? We did not understand that Veritas has been in the making for over ten years, and one day a simple conversation about health turned into a business plan. In six months, we opened our doors. Carina: For the past thirteen years, my career in healthcare has been a journey spanning various facets, from community health and women's services to my current role in addiction recovery. Throughout this journey, my unwavering passion has centered around empowering individuals through education. During my tenure working directly with patients, I witnessed a pervasive lack of awareness regarding the relationship between their health, lifestyle choices, and their current health circumstances. It became evident that many individuals found themselves in healthcare settings without a clear understanding of how their daily choices impacted their well-being. I observed a significant absence of advocacy within the healthcare industry. Patients lacked the guidance and support they needed to navigate their healthcare journey effectively. This realization fueled my desire to establish an environment where individuals could feel assured in asking questions, confident in receiving accurate information and supported in their quest for understanding. My aspiration was to create a safe space where individuals could openly inquire about their health concerns without fear or hesitation. I aimed to bridge the gap between healthcare providers and patients, advocating for a system where individuals felt empowered to engage in their healthcare decisions and had access to comprehensive information and support. This commitment to patient education and advocacy continues to drive my efforts in fostering an environment where knowledge, understanding, and empowerment converge, ensuring that individuals are equipped to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.

ShiCara: Chiropractic care transformed my life in profound ways! Not only did it play a pivotal role in enhancing my overall health, leading to my reduced reliance on medications, but it also served as a gateway to exploring the expansive realm of holistic healing methodologies. My journey into this holistic approach began at the front desk of a chiropractic office, where I initially dipped my toes into this transformative field. Within six months, I felt compelled to delve deeper into the workings of the entire office, broadening my understanding of the principles and practices behind chiropractic care. Motivated by an insatiable curiosity and a growing passion for alternative health and wellness, I immersed myself in various chiropractic conferences and pursued multiple certifications within a year. These experiences solidified my conviction that my future lies in contributing to alternative health and wellness on a more extensive and impactful level. Recognizing the profound impact that holistic healing had on my life, I was determined to play a larger role in this field, aspiring to be an advocate and active participant in promoting alternative health practices for the betterment of individuals' well-being. What sets Veritas Body & Wellness apart in the health and wellness industry? What distinguishes us at Veritas Body & Wellness is our firm belief in the interconnectedness of health, wellness, and beauty. We reject the notion that individuals should have to choose between prioritizing their healthcare needs and embracing self-care practices. Our philosophy revolves around the understanding that true health encompasses not only the physical function of the body but also the emotional and psychological well-being that is reflected in one's self-perception. We acknowledge that an individual's sense of confidence and satisfaction when they look in the mirror significantly impacts their overall health. Discontent with one's appearance can induce stress, affecting both the nervous and immune systems. Additionally, the mental toll of such feelings should not be underestimated. Our approach extends beyond solely addressing the immediate health concerns presented to us. We take pride in our holistic approach, focusing on the complete individual rather than solely treating the specific ailment prompting their visit to our facility. We strive to provide comprehensive care that nurtures not just the physical ailment but also supports mental well-being and boosts self-confidence. At Veritas, we are dedicated to treating each person as a whole entity, understanding that their health and happiness are interconnected. By addressing both the physical and emotional aspects, we aim to foster a sense of holistic well-being, empowering our clients to thrive in every aspect of their lives.

You mention a focus on bridging the gap between traditional healthcare practices and holistic wellness approaches. Can you elaborate on how Veritas Body & Wellness achieves this balance? Traditional healthcare practices often focus on addressing the immediate symptoms or concerns that lead an individual to seek medical attention. In contrast, holistic wellness approaches delve deeper into the underlying causes of these symptoms, aiming to identify and resolve the root issues contributing to the condition. Take, for instance, chiropractic care, which operates on the principle that many bodily ailments originate from interference within the nervous system. While a patient may initially seek chiropractic treatment for back pain, the approach extends beyond simply alleviating the pain. By examining the spine's alignment and function, chiropractors often uncover related symptoms or dysfunctions that preceded the pain, recognizing that pain is the body's final signal of an underlying issue. At Veritas, a similar philosophy guides our approach. While clients may approach us seeking fat reduction, our focus extends beyond mere cosmetic concerns. We specialize in uncovering the underlying factors contributing to the issue at hand. We explore potential vitamin deficiencies, evaluate dietary choices based on individual blood or hormone types, assess the proper functioning of the lymphatic system, and consider other relevant aspects of health. By asking pertinent questions and delving into various aspects of an individual's health, we aim to comprehensively understand the core problem a client is experiencing. This holistic evaluation enables us to offer tailored solutions that go beyond temporary fixes, facilitating lifestyle changes that promote lasting wellness. Moreover, this approach fosters a sense of being heard and understood, encouraging individuals to actively engage in and commit to the necessary changes that optimize their treatments and overall well-being. What are some of the specific services and products that Veritas Body & Wellness provides? Our area of expertise lies in providing comprehensive Lymphatic Support, employing a range of specialized therapies and services aimed at enhancing lymphatic function and overall well-being. Our offerings encompass a variety of treatments designed to promote lymphatic health, including lymphatic massages incorporating trigger point therapy, body contouring techniques, Infrared light therapy, Ionic Foot Detox, vibration therapy, and specialized VSteams (Yoni Steams). In addition to these therapies, we provide a holistic approach to wellness, offering services such as IV hydration, IM Vitamin Support, Body Compression, Weight Loss Support, Sound Therapy, and access to our dedicated Pilates studio. Each of these services synergistically complements our core offerings, contributing to a comprehensive wellness experience for our clients.

Furthermore, we take pride in our partnership with Olbali products, featuring a range of organic and cruelty-free items. This partnership allows us to offer products like Cranberry Gummies, Libido Gummies, Detox Support, Herbal Teas, Coffee, and Cotton sanitary napkins, among others, which align with our commitment to natural, wholesome solutions. As an exclusive retailer of Mable & Mary's Aromatherapy line, we bring our clients access to handmade soy wax candles, body butters, soaps, and an array of nourishing products, further enhancing the holistic experience we aim to provide. What is next for you? Where do you hope to see your brand in the next 3-5 years? Since opening our doors, our dedication to excellence has propelled us to continuously enhance our expertise and broaden our services. We have body obtained additional certifications and pursued further education, solidifying our commitment to expanding the scope of our offerings at Veritas Body & Wellness. As we embrace a phase of substantial development, we are excited to announce the expansion of our team to include skilled estheticians and cosmetologists, enriching the Veritas family. Our recent relocation to a spacious 2800 sq ft facility marks a pivotal step towards accommodating our growing clientele, and we're enthusiastic about the limitless possibilities for advancement and evolution in this larger space. Looking ahead, we are poised to introduce new services within the next 18 months, specifically hydro colon therapy and GYN Services. These additions will elevate Veritas into a comprehensive hub, encompassing health, wellness, and beauty services under one roof. Sydnie B. Honeywood Sydnie B. Honeywood was born in Atlanta, GA. Her family moved to Baltimore, MD, where she attended the Bryn Mawr School for Girls from sixth to twelfth grade. Her family was blessed to receive a scholarship from the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust for all 7 years. Sydnie then went on to graduate from Hampton University in Hampton, VA, in 2014, where she earned a dual degree in public relations and Spanish. Sydnie began her design career in 2011 after taking design courses at Hampton University. She has designed promotional materials for the National Federation for the Blind, Mileu de la Moda, Inc., The Way Youth Program, Maryland Hunger Solutions, The River Church Baltimore, and The Knew Network. Most of Sydnie’s post-graduate work was in non-profit environmental justice before transitioning to Education. She earned a Master of Education degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2020. Sydnie also worked as an Emergency Management Specialist for the federal government before transitioning to a full-time entrepreneur. She serves as Managing Director of LJLP Investments, a communications consulting firm that promotes books, media, and design. Sydnie is also Managing Partner of The Honeywood Haven, a wellness shop that features education and products within wellness, nutrition, and skincare.

Her first book, Masterpiece, was published in 2022. The book discusses how a relationship with Jesus Christ helps us to overcome adversity, and through relationship, He can take the broken pieces of our lives and turn them into a Masterpiece. It’s available on Amazon, Target.com, and BarnesandNoble.com. Sydnie is also a mom of two boys. She currently resides in Pikesville, MD.

Can you tell us more about your early life and upbringing in Atlanta and Baltimore? I moved around a lot during my childhood and spent time between my mother’s and father’s homes, as they were divorced when I was two. Both of my parents met in Atlanta at Clark Atlanta University but were from Baltimore, so we traveled back and forth between the two until moving before sixth grade. Both of my parents were supportive in exposing me to new activities, which helped me try new things and experience many different environments and cultures. I spent a lot of time in dance classes at the Spelman Children’s Dance Theatre and later the Decatur School of Ballet. I loved performing and eventually moved into acting, where I performed at the historic Arena Playhouse in Baltimore, MD. I also spent much of my time in church at Morning Star Baptist Church.

I served in the Daughters of Imani youth ministry, women’s ministry, and the broadcast ministry, where I filmed on air as one of our church news anchors. I also wrote articles for our expanded church bulletin. How did your time at Hampton University contribute to your passion for design? I had a wonderful time at Hampton University, where I explored so many different interests. I was an intern for an environmental organization where I helped organize events and even a trip to a national conference in Pittsburgh, PA. I learned and practiced design to promote causes I cared about throughout my time at Hampton. As a public relations student, I was able to take courses in design where I used Adobe Suites and programs like Photoshop and InDesign. I loved learning about what made a good design and how to promote causes that needed more attention through magazine covers, flyers, social media posts, and more. Could you elaborate on your decision to pursue a dual degree in Public Relations and Spanish? As a child, I wanted to be in entertainment as an actress or TV personality. As I became older, that love shifted to writing, which is what I loved to do when I was younger but never shared with others. In high school, I wanted to go into fashion design or merchandising and considered going to Parsons School of Design in New York. I also loved the idea of planning events where I could design and learn about Public Relations, which required my writing skills. It seemed like the best of both worlds with design, writing, events, and even performing/ broadcasts, depending on the client. After learning more about environmental justice during my freshman year, I knew I had to use all of my gifts and skills for good. I wanted to be a voice for the voiceless and not just major fashion brands. I started Spanish in Decatur Public Schools in the second grade and studied all the way through university. I decided to double major because I tested out of the first two years of Spanish and could finish the amount of credits in the same amount of time it took to get my degree in PR. I loved the culture, the language, and travel, so it aligned well with my passions and goals. Could you discuss some of the notable projects you’ve worked on, such as those for the National Federation for the Blind and Mileu de la Moda, Inc.? Milieu de la Moda, Inc. was my very first business, where we provided scholarships for students of color to study abroad by selling thrift and vintage finds. We were able to partner with the African Diaspora Alliance and help send over ten students from Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, MD, to Cuba. We also sponsored passports for students to travel to London with A Looking Glass Project and Hardly Home. We partnered with Savers, a national brand, with two clothing drives where we collected and donated over 600 pounds of clothing to raise funds. We also funded extracurricular projects in Costa Rica for a student traveling with Las Olas Travels.

How has your background in design influenced your current roles in communications consulting and entrepreneurship? My background in design inspired me to share my love for it with more people. I have always loved designing for others, and this allowed me to gain skills and a network to build my own platform. I am so grateful for all the wonderful projects and partnerships that I’ve had because they encouraged me to dream beyond what I could see and have faith in God to create business to impact Kingdom culture. As a full-time entrepreneur, what challenges did you face during the transition from being an Emergency Management Specialist for the federal government? The transition was one of my biggest struggles. I think that working for someone else is playing it safe, and stepping out on my own was a huge leap of faith. I also learned why a lot of people choose to work for someone else their entire lives. It is a lot easier in some ways to work for a system and business that is already in place. Entrepreneurship requires a vision to build systems that aren’t in place and continue perfecting them with time and growth. I have had to rewire how I think in order to approach the business, systems, and foundation in new ways. Can you tell us more about LJLP Investments and its focus on books, media, and design? LJLP Investments really encompasses my gifts and love within books, media, & design. It is a Communications Consulting firm that focuses on promoting Kingdom culture within those industries. This includes promoting Christian authors, Christians on Social Media platforms, and Christian businesses. What led you to establish The Honeywood Haven, and how does it contribute to wellness, nutrition, and skincare education? I love skincare and wellness products. I personally used them before becoming a partner. The products are the best of the best, and from the ingredients to the messaging, they are created to provide healthier options to clients that really make a difference. How has your faith and relationship with Jesus Christ influenced your perspective on overcoming adversity, as discussed in Masterpiece? My faith and relationship with Jesus Christ is everything. I was only able to overcome the challenges and adversity through the redeeming and steadfast love of Jesus. His Word changed my heart and healed my brokenness. Through my relationship with Jesus, He changed my identity, made me whole, and gave me a desire to please him. With everything I have, I will share His love with others in order to honor and glorify Him. What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? A Pretty Woman Who Hustles is a Holy Spirit-filled woman living in her God-given purpose.

Myrical, you had a remarkable career as a pediatric nurse before transitioning into entrepreneurship. Can you share with us what inspired this significant career shift and your journey into the world of entrepreneurship? Entrepreneurship is in my DNA – my parents and grandparents were entrepreneurs as well. I’ve always had entrepreneurial ventures on the side; however, it wasn’t until the birth of my first grandchild that I felt it was time to make it a full-time thing. It allows me the freedom and flexibility to spend time with my grandbabies while also leaving a legacy for them. You’ve ventured into various business ventures, from handcrafted candles to natural and herbal products. What drives your passion for providing others with ways to improve their quality of living? I’m not sure how else to say it other than it’s in my nature. I’m a natural-born nurturer who remains solution-focused. Working in the medical field has taught me a lot, but my faith helps me to see that there is always another way. It’s not always the medicine, you know? There are other ways to improve one’s quality of life.

As a grandmother of three, you’ve clearly embraced a multi-faceted role in life. How do you balance your entrepreneurial pursuits and home family life? I keep God first and allow everything else to fall into place. My family is also extremely supportive and heavily involved in what I do. And, of course, there’s the herbal products. Your debut book, Honey, is making waves on the literary scene. Can you tell us more about the inspiration behind this captivating story and what readers can expect when holding your project? I would say my inspiration comes from my life and the things I’ve observed in this ever-changing world over the years. Social media makes a lot of things available at your fingertips, and I look at how open and proud people are of things that previous generations had to do in secret. I look at the path I’ve taken and sometimes wonder what I would have done had I been dealt a different hand. Honey offers readers a journey through the life of a homemaker, uncovering that everything is not always as it seems. What message do you hope women take away from this book? Empowerment and survival. I hope that women can see the story of survival and empowerment that is here. I also hope that they are able to get a level of understanding and compassion for others because we never know what someone is dealing with and what their real story is. What can we expect next from Myrical Alexander, the best-selling author? Are there any upcoming projects we should know about? This book is just the beginning. LEAH ROSE Meet Leah Rose, a compassionate and dedicated spiritual medium and mentor, wife, and mom of three boys. Leah specializes in mediumship, meditation, breathwork, astrology, and energy healing as a means to support clients in healing emotional trauma, regulating the nervous system, and navigating life’s challenges.

Drawing from her transformative healing journey through divorce, Leah has created “The Goddess in You” program—a transformative 12-week divorce recovery and wellness program designed to empower women to heal and rebuild their lives with confidence and clarity. In this unique program, Leah blends the power of meditation, somatic healing, mindset, belief work, and intuition development to guide women through selfdiscovery and empowerment. Inspired by her own experiences, Leah’s passion is to share the tools and wisdom that enabled her to navigate the challenges of divorce, allowing women to tap into their inner strength and knowing so they may create the lives they truly desire.

Can you share with us your personal journey that led you to become a spiritual medium and mentor and how your experiences have shaped your approach to supporting others in their healing journeys? After my divorce, I went through a profound spiritual shift.

I began purging a lifetime of emotional trauma and questioning everything I had been taught, my decisions, my beliefs, and how they had shaped my life. My spiritual gifts came to the forefront when I began practicing breathwork. Breathwork not only allowed me to continue purging unwanted emotions but also catapulted me into the state of presence and allowed me to connect with my higher self and the spirit world. Fueling my curiosity, I delved into intuition development, meditation, reiki, somatic healing, shamanism, and astrology. Each exploration became a stepping stone toward self-discovery and healing. It wasn’t just about what society or my family and friends expected anymore but about cultivating my true desires. This exploration freed me from societal norms and expectations, empowering me to develop my passions. Because of my divorce and the incredible tools I discovered, I can now help others in their healing journeys. The “Goddess in You” program is a 12-week divorce recovery and wellness program. What inspired you to create this program, and how does it uniquely empower women going through divorce?

My divorce marked a profound turning point, influencing my journey and personal growth in powerful ways. Recognizing it as a tremendous opportunity for reinvention, I delved into rediscovering my true self, understanding my capabilities, and rewriting my life story. My passion lies in empowering women to live with confidence and clarity, liberating themselves from stress and overwhelm. In the Goddess in You program, women experience a process of healing, self-discovery, and transformation internally and externally. This unique program equips them with tools and strategies to thrive post-divorce, allowing them to rewrite their stories and live on their terms. The key is choosing this path for themselves. I help to inspire women to step into their power and create the lives they truly desire. In your program, you incorporate meditation, somatic healing, mindset work, and intuition development. How do these elements work together to guide women through self-discovery and empowerment, particularly in the context of recovering from divorce? In the aftermath of divorce, women face profound challenges like feeling lost, stripped of their individuality, financial uncertainty, and navigating a spectrum of overwhelming emotions while trying to rebuild their lives. For those who are parents, there’s the added pressure of being present for their children, taking care of them, and building a new, stable, and healthy lifestyle. The Goddess in You program comprehensively addresses these challenges by guiding women in establishing emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Meditation is a powerful tool for deep emotional healing, cultivating gratitude and abundance. Somatic healing and breathwork techniques are crucial in calming the nervous system and maintaining emotional stability during challenging times. They contribute to emotional wellness and overall physical health by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, boosting immune health, and regulating hormones. Mindset work fosters self-efficacy, confidence, self-worth, and manifestation. It tackles unconscious barriers hindering us from achieving goals, healthy relationships, and experiences. Intuitive development becomes a vital compass for clarity and guidance in navigating the path ahead and cultivating lasting inner peace and joy. Women embark on self-discovery by integrating mind, body, and spiritual tools. They release old behavioral patterns, relationships, and limitations, rewriting their stories. This holistic approach empowers them emotionally, mentally, and physically, providing the knowledge to sustain their well-being. The result is a profound sense of empowerment as they no longer rely on others for guidance—they possess the tools within themselves.

Your focus on healing emotional trauma and regulating the nervous system is intriguing. Can you elaborate on the role of these aspects in the overall well-being of individuals, especially during challenging life transitions? So often, when going through a healing process, we try to heal through the mind alone. We’ll go to therapy to map out the feelings, the patterns, and all the ways we need to adjust our behaviors. We understand all this, but the problem is that we still feel resentment, loneliness, or a lack of self-worth. That’s because healing needs to happen analytically, emotionally, and physically. The reason is that the nervous system records all our experiences, the good, the bad, and the ugly, and stores them within the body and the subconscious mind. So, the emotional trauma we experience is held within our body, and you can’t just think it away. This is where breathwork, meditation, and somatic healing techniques come into play. They are all powerful tools for releasing these emotions from the nervous system. Furthermore, when we’re experiencing situational stress or anxiety, and we feel out of control, the mind will often perpetuate these catastrophizing thoughts. Then, the brain will respond with complimentary stress chemicals. This then triggers us to go even more into a state of fight or flight, and it becomes a positive feedback loop, repeating itself over and over. In these situations, it is helpful to have tools and strategies for mind-body connection to regain control over your emotions and regulate your nervous system. As a wife and mom of three boys, how do you balance your roles as a spiritual medium, mentor, and family woman? How has being a mother influenced your approach to your work? I’ve learned that staying present throughout my day and devoted to my daily spiritual practice keeps me on track. I carve out time for self-care, meditation, journaling and infuse playfulness and creativity whenever possible. It’s important to me that I unplug from work when I’m with my family and just be with them, like really enjoy the moments with them. My kids help me to find balance. They’re my mirrors, always nudging me back to the present moment. Can you share a success story or a memorable moment from your work where you witnessed a significant positive transformation in a client’s life through the tools and wisdom you provide? One standout moment involves a client who initially joined as a shell of a human, grappling with hopelessness, insecurity, and a profound sense of loss post-divorce. Throughout our journey together, I witnessed her release emotional trauma, reshape her belief systems, and nurture self-worth and confidence. Witnessing such profound change reinforces the power of the program’s tools and the incredible resilience within each person.
