THE MISTRESS OF SEXUALITY

ANGELA CONNER

Angela Conner, a pivotal voice in the ever-emerging world of Sexology, speaks of Tantra, Intimate Relationships, and Sexual Wellness! You can find her on a list of podcasts as she spills the tea on ORGASMS, how to get them, how to elevate them, and how to have more of them.

Angela is the founder of The Wifey Life, based in Atlanta, Georgia, and she is known through several communities as Angela the Mistress of Sexuality. Her candor on everything related to sexuality instantly eases any shyness a person may have on the topic. Angela has also been a long-time advocate on issues such as “my body my choice” & awareness of human trafficking. Mistress Angela has spent her life studying & working in the science & spiritual aspects of intimacy, sex & human relationships. She can often be found educating, coaching, or creating Intimacy Urgent Care Road Maps (IUC-RM) for individuals & couples that desire to deepen their intimate relationships. Her passion for supporting others through their most intimate experiences can be seen easily when she smiles in excitement as clients get excited about their “bonus fun work.” Angela is enthusiastic about living out her God-given purpose of helping people enjoy their sexual connections (with others or with themselves) as much as humanly possible.

How did you get your start in the world of Sexology? I grew up in the South, which is known as the bible belt by many. Growing up as a young black female in a conservative part of the country, we often heard, “Don’t have sex until you are married,” “Good girls don’t do those things, and if you do, people will think you are “fast and nasty,” and finally, “Don’t get pregnant.” The conversation about sexuality and our bodies was not a conversation that was had…It was expected that you would know when the time comes. It was that line of thinking that made me curious about sexuality and its impact on our society beyond procreation. Since a very young age, I studied everything I could on the topic of how we deal with sex, intimacy, relationships, and our spirituality. I have trained and worked in a variety of modalities over the years and continue to receive ongoing training in my area of expertise. I often advocated for breaking the cycles of sexual abuse, sex trafficking and rape. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons, intimacy, and sexuality have been used as a source of power and not pleasure. I speak and educate on this subject to break the cycle of misuse and to elevate the benefits of a healthy sexual life, especially for women of color.

How do you see Tantra fitting into the modern landscape of sexual wellness, and what inspired you to become an advocate for its integration into people’s lives? Years ago, I was not handling my stress levels very well. I was talking with one of my physicians, and we were talking about sexual health and the benefits. My first prescription - go home and have an orgasm. I often laugh about how orgasms saved my life, but it is very true! Managing my intimate life is a huge key to relieving stress; it was a game-changer for me over 25 years ago. Since that day, I dove into the health benefits of a vibrant sex life. Liberating yourself from limiting beliefs is one of the most empowering things we can do for ourselves. I am no different than most women in our society. In our modern world, women tend to hold so many hats. We manage work, aging parents, raising kids, and the list goes on. We often don’t think about the benefits of our intimate lives. We typically put it on the back burner until it no longer crosses our lives. Tantra assisted me in bringing balance back into my life. My advocacy for sexual wellness is my way of paying it forward. It has aided me in relieving stress, reconnecting with myself, connecting with my partner, and managing menopause, to name of few benefits. What are some of the common misconceptions that you hear about the topic of orgasms? The biggest misconception is, “ I can’t have an orgasm.” The majority of women can have a variety of orgasms! Often, it is the technique that hinders a woman’s orgasms. Poor technique comes from a lack of training in reaching your pleasure or your partner’s pleasure. Tell us about your brand, “The Wifey Life,” and your mission. The Wifey Life is dedicated to improving intimate relationships with you and your partner. We educate so you can elevate your personal relationships.

ANGELA THE MISTRESS OF SEXUALITY

Outside of entrepreneurship and business, who is Angela Conner? I am a motivated and joyful member of my community. I frequently volunteer `with a wide range of organizations in the metro Atlanta area. I am a proud mother of two teens. I also have an amazing bonus daughter and grandkids from my first marriage. I am known as Auntie Sunshine to my nieces, nephews, and god-kids. I am frequently spotted with a tambourine in hand and dancing to music. I have experienced many things in life; however, my top five fun things are traveling, writing, performing, laughing, and spending time with the people I love. My motto in life: “Love the life you live & live the life you love” – Bob Marley

Reflecting on your platform as a whole, what message would you say you hope women take away from your platform? Intimacy and sexuality are not something that we often speak of. However, we expect people to just know how to receive and give pleasure. It is a skill that is learned just like any other life skill we were taught. Don’t let your past traumas limit your intimacy and sexuality. Give yourself permission to learn and experience more about pleasure, intimacy, and sexuality in and out of the bedroom. Living out your “God-given purpose” of enhancing people’s sexual connections is truly unique and impactful. Could you elaborate on how you merge the science and spiritual aspects of intimacy and how your approach helps individuals and couples fully embrace and enjoy their intimate lives? My purpose is unique and much needed in our communities. Often, couples forget about the joy of their intimate spaces and assume that the other person will just know what to do. My approach to sexuality and intimacy starts with a person’s history, what they have been told, and what they believe about your intimacy, sexuality, and relationships. Before you can begin to improve this area, we begin by unpacking who you are as a person, not just what you do in life but what your aspirations are. Utilizing science, spirituality, and emotional aspects provides a variety of tools that my clients use to reconnect with their partners and with themselves. We are one of the few species that have sexual experiences for pleasure; therefore, using this gift to enhance our living experience is a gift that truly lasts a lifetime! What is next for you and The Wifey Life? Where do you hope to see your platform in the next 2-3 years? In the next 2-3 years, I see The Wifey Life becoming a household name in the homes of the communities I serve. I want families to know that we are a resource for their questions and challenges in their intimate relationships. I also see The Wifey Life expanding into opening its first Tantric Healing Center in the US Virgin Islands.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN SCHOOLS, OH MY! Written By: Gloria from Amani Upendo Wellness

Artificial Intelligence (AI), described as the most transformative technology of the 21st century, is reshaping every industry and field of human activity, including education. With its ability to process large amounts of data, learn from it, and make predictions, AI is revolutionizing how we teach and learn in the classroom. One of the primary ways AI is being implemented in schools is through smart tutoring systems. Traditional tutoring relies on human educators to provide one-on-one instruction to students. However, this approach is limited by the availability of qualified tutors and the cost associated with hiring them. AI-powered tutoring systems can provide personalized and adaptive learning experiences to students, allowing them to progress at their own pace and receive individualized support. These systems can analyze students’ strengths and weaknesses, track their progress, and provide targeted feedback, enhancing their learning outcomes.

PAGE FOUR| JOURNEY

Another area where AI is making its mark is in the assessment and grading process. Traditional assessments often rely on multiple-choice tests or subjective grading by teachers, which can be time-consuming and subjective. AIpowered systems can automate the grading process by analyzing students’ responses and comparing them to predefined criteria. This not only saves teachers’ time but also provides more consistent and objective grading, ensuring fairness in the assessment process. AI is also being utilized to enhance the efficiency of administrative tasks in schools. Chatbots can provide instant responses to frequently asked questions, reducing the burden on school staff and allowing them to focus on more complex tasks. Additionally, AI algorithms can analyze vast amounts of data to identify patterns and trends, helping schools make data-driven decisions and improve overall performance. Everywhere we look, AI is being used, so why not try adding this controversial tool throughout the school year from pre-K to post-secondary. Stay Pretty!

She has been named a Women in Business Networking Woman of Impact 2022 and Dayton’s Third Perk SheRoe of Spirituality. Pamela was the inaugural Director of Aviatra Accelerators Dayton. She is a member of the American Business Women Association (ABWA) Gem City Chapter.

She has hosted several broadcasts, including her most recent podcast, Curated Conversations with Pamela Cone. Her new podcast, Sunday Mornings with Pamela Cone, is scheduled for January 2024. The entrepreneur recently added to her Curated Spaces brand. Curated Spaces, LLC is the fusion of the art of communication and the principles and elements of design to provide content, style, and décor products and services with purposeful intention. The CEO just added products and services under each category. Pamela wholeheartedly believes being a minister is what she was ‘predestined’ to be! She is extremely humbled by this God-given assignment to “feed HIS sheep.” She is a published author of Curated Spiritual Content and Curated Spiritual Growth, Unapologetically Phenomenal, Wisdom Seekers Weekly Devotional, and Destiny Chaser.

She is married to Pastor Steven Cone, who she works alongside as his Assistant Pastor at Dominion, CLGI, located in Dayton, Ohio. The couple has been in ministry for over 25 years. She is the mother of three beautiful children and Mimi to two adorable grandchildren (for now). Pamela is currently pursuing her Master of Arts in Ministry – Biblical Studies at Indiana Wesleyan University and has an undergraduate degree in Communication Studies with a minor in African-American Studies and an associate degree in interior design. Outside of business and faith, who is Pamela Cone? I’m a wife, mother/mother-in-love, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and community leader. I’m a creative dreamer! I’m passionate! I love to create! I believe it’s the designer and curator in me. It doesn’t matter if it’s words, style, or an interior space. No matter the space, it’s all about the principles and elements of design to me. This even includes the list I started my response with. To me, those relationships have to be designed, structured, and maintained with love. Tell us about your brand, Curated Spaces, LLC. I believe your brand is you! You don’t have to make it up. Whatever you do best stems from the gifts and talents you have been given, whether that is one gift or five. It is my desire to use every gift and talent I possess. I started Curated Spaces with this purpose. Curated Spaces, LLC fuses the art of communication and the principles and elements of design to provide content, style, and décor with purposeful intention. Our mission is to intentionally design and provide euphonious content and aesthetically pleasing structured, functional spaces that evoke inspiration. Everything occupies space! And a curated space makes you feel at home in the world!

How has your role in development management prepared you for the role you are in today? I have worked in many spaces, and all have contributed to who I am professionally. My role in Business Development has increased my understanding of “industry.” I’ve learned that all skills are transferable, and if utilized properly in the space you’re occupying, they allow you to have a vantage point that is different from what may be normal in that particular space. Business Development gives me an aerial view of industry. This perspective enhances my ability to view my business in the same manner. Therefore, as a Founder & CEO, I’m not only considering Curated Spaces from the vantage point of the owner, but I’m also viewing it through the lenses of consumers, community members, and community leaders. I even consider how it intersects or aligns with other businesses. Doing so increases the impact Curated Spaces will have. You are heavily involved in your local Christian community. How do you currently balance faith and entrepreneurship? I don’t think there’s a separation. This is one of the aspects I love most about entrepreneurship. I don’t have to be anyone different. I’m Pamela Cone all day long! I pray about my business plans and goals. I seek wise counsel. I commit my works to God that my thoughts may be established (Proverbs 16:3). My ministry is a part of my brand. Entrepreneurship is in the Bible! Individuals had skills and trades that allowed them to live and earn a living for their families. These skills were passed down from generation to generation. It was expected for them to possess a skill to be self-sufficient. It was also expected for them to deal fairly and justly in trade and commerce. They sold their goods and conducted their business in the marketplace or at the gate of the city.

Tell us about the work you are doing through your local faith-based community. I’ve been in ministry for over 30 years. My husband and I have planted three churches and numerous Bible Studies. We are currently building our church, Dominion, CLGI, in the Dayton area. I serve as the District Elect Ladies Representative and District Missions Representative for our area as well. In each of these roles, I work to support women in ministry and in their spiritual growth journeys. I have a ministry and online platform called Wisdom & Grace. Wisdom & Grace, a Christian virtual community for women, is a safe space that fosters spiritual, interpersonal, and professional growth and empowerment. On this platform, I conduct a bi-annual 10week cohort. I’ve hosted an additional cohort called The Prayer Room, and last year, we hosted a successful conference called Wisdom Seekers. We are in the planning phase of our in-person Wisdom is Life Event Series. Our next Wisdom & Grace Cohort is scheduled for September 14th - November 16th, 2023. For more information, check out our event page: WisdomandGraceFall23.eventbrite.com. Tell us about your recent podcast, “Curated Conversations with Pamela Cone.” What message do you hope women take away from this show? Curated Conversations with Pamela Cone wasn’t necessarily for women only. Although I discussed women’s self-empowerment and other women-specific issues, I also addressed issues such as period poverty, police brutality, marriage, and raising children in interracial spaces. My hope for any of the content I share is that it is given in a way that the hearer can receive it. That’s what I mean by euphonious. My desire is to be led by the Holy Spirit. If I am, the Word will accomplish what it was sent out to do, no matter the subject.

You are a published author. Can you tell us about your publications? I have published two Curated Journals, two Poetry & Prose Coffee Table Books, and a Christian Self-help book. Curated Christian Journals Curated Christian Journals are designed tools that help support and measure personal spiritual growth, develop spiritual content, and support personal success. They also encourage the curation of a dedicated space and commitment to spiritual and personal growth. Curated Spiritual Content - This journal was designed with the speaker/preacher/teacher in mind. Professionalism: Got to start somewhere

Don’t let yourself look overworked. Maintain the upkeep with yourself.

Written By: Akilah Roberts

Doing something you love and getting paid for it is the goal we all have. We want to choose who we do business with and surround ourselves with positive influences. There are days when you will be the happiest person on the planet, and everybody you meet is bubbly. Then there will be days where it feels like you fell off the planet. Learning about your happy place is essential. Try looking at life from a place of joy and not greed. Sometimes, it will feel like the days are running together. When you are developing a dream come true business, there will be many sleepless nights. Days that seem super long and some that seem short.

The ultimate goal is to work smarter and not harder. This doesn’t mean slack off from your work. This means always finding new and easy ways to do things. You can start by researching and networking. Availability is key to becoming a business owner. However, you have to keep your schedule realistic. You can’t allow time to slip away from you and be late to business apps for work. You also can’t put off personal appts or things planned with your family and friends. All work and no play is not healthy. Plan accordingly.

Competition can wear you down. But don’t lose faith. Power is in your beliefs. Manifest worldwide support and stop being dependent on community uplifting. Always remember there are good and bad days that come with any lifestyle. Your power has to be placed in a spiritual realm. If you build it, they will come. Tips for Professionals Tip #1: “Stay ahead of the game.” The world is always evolving, and change happens rapidly. It’s always best to research online to learn new things and ways to develop your skills. Tip #2: “Stay up to date.” A lot of times, we change our phone numbers (very common), move, and now have a different address, a new email, and a different website or social media page. But your day 1 supporters never got the memo and have now lost touch with you and what you are doing now. Always stay up to date with your fan base and inform them of new contacts and addresses. Tip #3: “Maintain a portfolio.” A portfolio consists of copies of your work, reviews, pictures, business cards, and background information. When you are in business, you sometimes come across legal documents and contracts, and having this information handy will help business flow better. Tip #4: “Create a separate social page.” Customers love to be able to interact with business owners, especially after a purchase is made. It makes them feel like the money was well spent and worth it. A page dedicated to this purpose will help keep your existing customers and fan base. Tip #5: “Stay pretty.” A very simple rule that applies to every girl, lady, and woman. Don’t let yourself look overworked. Maintain the upkeep with yourself. You never know who you will run into at the most convenient places.

The world is always evolving, and change happens rapidly. Stay ahead of the game.

CHANEL DICKERSON Allow me to introduce you to the Phenomenal Chanel Dickerson. Retired DC Assistant police chief turned entrepreneur and best-selling author.

Tell us a little bit about your childhood Chanel. Where are you from? Where did you grow up? What are your hobbies? During my childhood, I had the privilege of experiencing two different cities and cultures that greatly influenced my upbringing. I was born in Danville, VA, but eventually, my family relocated to Washington, DC, when I was young. Growing up, I was the only girl in a household with three brothers, which allowed me to develop a strong sense of independence and resilience. Danville holds a special place in my heart as it is where I attended elementary and middle school. It provided me with a close-knit community and a solid foundation for my education. However, my parents divorced, and my mother made the decision to move to Washington, DC. This transition allowed me to explore a completely new environment, with its diverse perspectives and opportunities, that shaped me into the woman I am today.

In Washington, DC, I attended junior high and high school, graduating from Eastern Senior High School. This vibrant city presented me with countless opportunities for personal growth and development. I was exposed to a diverse range of cultural experiences, expanding my perspectives and fostering an appreciation for different backgrounds and beliefs. Apart from my advocacy work, which is incredibly important to me, I have several hobbies that I enjoy. One of them is jogging, which not only keeps me physically fit but also allows me to clear my mind and find solace in nature. I find myself rejuvenated and refreshed after a good run. Reading is another activity that brings me immense joy and helps me continuously expand my knowledge. I enjoy exploring various genres, from fiction to non-fiction, as it allows me to escape into different worlds or gain new insights into the world we live in.

What made you go into law enforcement? Since I was a young child, I have always been inspired by the idea of becoming a police officer. Growing up in Danville, VA, there was only one African-American police officer in our community, and he left a lasting impression on me. Witnessing his interactions with the children in our neighborhood, I was filled with admiration for the way he served and protected our community. As I grew older, my passion for law enforcement only intensified. When I relocated to Washington, DC, an incredible opportunity presented itself when I was offered a position as a police cadet with the Metropolitan Police Department at the young age of 17. This was a dream come true for me, as it allowed me to contribute to the betterment of society and fulfill my desire to serve others in a meaningful way. The police cadet program was a pivotal moment in my life by giving me a fair shot. Throughout my journey in law enforcement, I have always been driven by a deep-rooted sense of purpose to make a positive difference in the lives of those I interacted with. Being able to assist and protect individuals in their times of need and help create a safer environment for the communities I serve has been an incredibly rewarding experience. My passion for serving people and making a difference has always been at the core of my decision to pursue a career in law enforcement. I believe that by being a law enforcement officer, I had the opportunity to have a direct impact on the lives of people, showing compassion and empathy and providing a sense of security. Moreover, I am aware of the challenges that exist within our society, including issues of injustice, inequality, and discrimination. I will always be committed to working towards eradicating such problems and ensuring that every person, regardless of their background, feels safe, protected, and valued.

Have you always wanted to be an entrepreneur? Yes, I have always had a strong entrepreneurial drive. Even during my time in law enforcement, I found myself embarking on various business ventures in real estate, security, health and wellness, and financial literacy. The desire to create something of my own and make a positive impact on people’s lives has been a constant driving force for me. While my career in law enforcement has provided me with valuable experiences and skills, I have always felt compelled to explore the world of entrepreneurship and utilize my passion to bring innovative ideas to life. Was becoming an author always something you’ve always wanted to do, and if so. Why? Yes, becoming an author has always been a lifelong aspiration for me. The desire to tell stories and create meaningful narratives has been ingrained in me since I was young. I have always been captivated by the power of storytelling to entertain, inspire, and provoke thought. For me, writing serves as a form of therapy, offering a way to explore different perspectives, unleash my creativity, and convey emotions. It allows me to delve into the depths of human experience, provides a means to share both personal and collective experiences, challenge preconceived notions, and create shared connections. Through writing, I can express my thoughts, feelings, and observations in a way that transcends ordinary conversation. One aspect that fuels my passion for writing is the opportunity to humanize law enforcement through stories. Often, law enforcement is portrayed in a one-dimensional light in popular media, with exaggerated or negative stereotypes overshadowing the complexities of their roles.

I believe storytelling has the power to bridge divides, spark empathy, and inspire change, and becoming an author allows me to contribute to this transformative process. By humanizing law enforcement professionals, I hope to foster empathy, understanding, and open dialogue regarding the challenges and triumphs they face. How did you come up with the idea of creating this anthology? The idea for creating this anthology, Uncuffed Voices: Her Story is My Story, was born out of my own personal experiences and the realization that there was a lack of female representation and support within the law enforcement profession. Throughout my long career with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, I never had the privilege of having a female officer to guide me and provide the necessary support in a male-dominated field. However, I was determined to change this narrative for the women who came after me at MPD. I wanted to be a source of inspiration and support for them, but I also felt a deep desire to reach out to women around the world who faced similar challenges in their law enforcement careers. With a clear vision in mind, I embarked on the journey of creating this anthology. My main goal was to provide a platform that would not only amplify the voices of the remarkable women serving in law enforcement but also give them an avenue to share their stories of strength, triumph, and resilience with the world. By sharing their experiences, these women would be able to inspire the next generation of female law enforcement professionals. They would help break down the barriers and stereotypes that still exist in this field by demonstrating the immense capabilities and contributions that women can make.

I believe that by showcasing the stories of these incredible women, we can encourage more females to pursue a career in law enforcement and provide them with the strength and inspiration they need to push through any obstacles they may face. Through this anthology, I hope to foster a sense of community and support among female law enforcement professionals, not just within the United States but internationally as well. I want this book to be a source of empowerment, encouragement, and motivation for women who have chosen or are considering a career in law enforcement. What was your biggest challenge getting the project completed? The biggest challenge I faced in getting the project done was the learning curve. Since it was my first time serving as a visionary author for Uncuffed Voices: Her Story is My Story, I had to familiarize myself with the entire process. Initially, I felt overwhelmed by the intricacies and nuances involved in bringing the project to fruition.

However, I am grateful for this experience as it pushed me to learn and grow. Each step of the process taught me valuable lessons and allowed me to become well-versed in the world of visionary authorship. I had to adapt quickly, seek guidance from experienced individuals, and continuously educate myself about the various aspects of the project. Through perseverance and determination, I was able to overcome the challenges that accompanied my lack of prior experience. This experience is undoubtedly going to benefit me greatly in future projects. The knowledge I have gained will enable me to approach new endeavors with confidence and efficiency. Do you have a favorite chapter? If so, why? While it is quite tough to select just one chapter as a favorite, I can confidently say that each story in the book holds its own remarkable essence. The authors of this book have bravely shared their unique experiences, feelings, and struggles, creating a tapestry of emotions that resonates with readers on different levels. As I read through the pages, I found myself relating to certain aspects of each story. Each chapter explores the complexities of human experience, and by sharing their stories, the authors provide glimpses into their law enforcement careers that provoke understanding and empathy. It is through these relatable moments that we can learn, grow, and connect on a deeper level as individuals and as a society. What do you hope to accomplish with this book? My hope is that “Uncuffed Voices: Her Story is My Story” will inspire future generations of women to fearlessly pursue their dreams in law enforcement. I want them to know that they have the strength and ability to shatter glass ceilings and overcome any obstacles they may face.

Can we look forward to volume 2? Uncuffed Voices is driven by a commitment to highlighting the captivating stories of law enforcement officers. As we continue to receive interest and engage with our audience, we remain open to the possibility of future projects. We value the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on creating social change through the lens of law enforcement professionals. What advice would you give future authors? Don’t fear failure. Rejection and setbacks are common in the writing world. Write regularly. Practice makes perfect. Make writing a habit by setting aside dedicated time each day, even if it’s just a few minutes. Embrace critique and feedback. Stay motivated and determined. Set achievable goals, break larger tasks into smaller ones, and celebrate small victories along the way to keep your spirits high. Understand the publishing industry. If your goal is to publish your work, take time to research the publishing industry. Write for yourself first: While it’s important to consider readers’ perspectives and interests, remember that your initial motivation for writing should come from within. Any special shout-outs or last words? I want to thank our supporters for helping us achieve #1 Best Seller status in multiple categories. I also commend the contributing authors for their courage in speaking up and shedding light on important issues that women in law enforcement face. Their stories serve as a reminder that our experiences, although unique, share common threads that bind us together, fostering empathy and understanding. I am sincerely grateful for the collective impact of all the stories. They all hold a special place in my heart, as they beautifully capture the essence of being a woman in law enforcement and remind us of the power of sharing our own stories.

VS. SELF

POETRY BY: INDIA EASLEY

When you look in the mirror Can you see your flaws Are they pouring out Can you see them all In the midst of your struggles In the midst of a fall Can you see your flaws?? Is this who you truly wanna be Do you have high self-esteem Has it gradually become Harder to find your strength Do you pray and pray Asking for help Asking for peace Asking for love Until your lovely face turns pink Do you rather people approach With she or he Is it something you deal with daily Finding out that people won’t save me Save them Save you ‘Cause people aren’t all really true It’s the mind against the mind It’s you against you A face against a face But when you need a hero for help Your last result is A mirror vs. self.

TaxBar Consultants

TIFFANY M. THRASHER Tiffany, with over a decade of expertise in finance, stands as a beacon of excellence in the business world. As the brain behind TaxBar Consultants, she has curated a tax office known for its impeccable service. This, coupled with her leadership at Main One Mediation Group, solidifies her reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Beyond the boardroom, Tiffany embraces the cherished role of motherhood, pouring her heart into every moment. Her innate drive to uplift the community and ensure others reach their pinnacle of success speaks volumes of her generous spirit. Constantly giving, Tiffany’s mission has always been to pave the way for others, ensuring they not only dream but achieve big.

When did you discover your passion for numbers? My passion for numbers honestly came from wanting more and never wanting to see 00000s. I wanted more than what I saw others go through in my teenage years or early adult life, so numbers was a way to win. How did you get your start in entrepreneurship? I was surrounded by others who had their own business, and I was either working for them or helping them, and a lightbulb went off. If I can pour so much into building their dream, why can’t I build mine? What inspired Tax Bar Consultants? The TaxBar was inspired by wanting to raise the bar on integrity, customer service, and being knowledgeable. I wanted to be different than others who were only in it for the money. I wanted to help my community.

Tiffany, your accomplishments in finance and business are truly impressive. Could you share some key strategies that have contributed to your success in both TaxBar Consultants and Main One Mediation Group? Being a person of strong character is what has helped me be successful. When you put out good, good is sure to come back. I believe in faith, but you also must put in the work. It was never just handed to me. I built each of my companies from the bottom. Trial and error and never giving up. You seem to have a strong commitment to community upliftment and helping others succeed. Can you tell us about some of the initiatives or projects you’re currently involved in to achieve this mission? I currently have built a team of 15 black women whom I have taken under my ropes to mentor to help them succeed in the industry. What message do you hope women take away from your platform? I hope women know they can do whatever they want. The only thing that can stop them is them. Make a goal and stick to it. The saying, “I got it out the mud,” is very true. It only takes one day to change your entire life. Stay true to your dreams. Balancing a successful career in finance with the role of a devoted mother can be challenging. How do you manage to excel in both your professional and personal life, and what advice would you give to other Boss Moms striving for that balance? I have a great support system, thank goodness. My great spouse has always been my biggest motivator, and my family has always pitched in to help with the children. I balance them with time management. Never give one more time than the other bc both are equally as important.

AUTUMN

DISCALA Autumn DiScala is empathetic, encouraging, confident, and kind; she aims to achieve incredible results in all she does! Autumn has always been a coach - only now she has a title to prove it! Her passion has always been to seek the best for others, providing support, direction, and encouragement as she empowers them to pursue both the dreams they have for themselves and the dreams God has placed in their hearts. This passion has arisen from seeing how God has led and moved in her own life in so many challenging and incredible ways. Often, all she’s had to go on to pursue what God has placed on her heart is faith that He will work it out, as well as support from her loved ones. And that’s exactly what she wants to be for other women - the support they need to pursue their God-sized dreams He’s calling them to chase. Her aim is to reach women who want to pursue their careers from a Christ-centered dynamic.

She is also passionate about finding the Lord’s purpose for you in all you do - whether that be your family, hobbies, passions, and interests, as well as career! Autumn has a bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus in Biology from Southeastern University, as well as a master’s degree in Divinity from Lipscomb University. Having lived in Nashville, TN, to pursue her master’s, she has found there is not any other city in America that feels like home. After attending seminary, Autumn sought to expand her health and nutrition knowledge by getting a health and life coach certification, as well as a Nutrition Response Testing® certification. Overall, Autumn DiScala is a passionate and Gospel-driven health and life coach who is here to help Christian women from all walks of life as they pursue what it means to be genuine followers of Jesus.

Many women feel like they might be trying their best but have one (or more) area(s) that are not quite where they want to be on their journey. Autumn is here to bring balance and help all women further the dreams God has placed on their hearts. Further, she is passionate about health and wellness and pursuing stewardship holistically - covering nutrition and lifestyle changes, spirituality, career, love and relationships, mental image, and so much more! Additionally, Autumn is always excited to talk about nature and hiking, travel, anime, art and creativity, and music! Schedule a Roadblock Discovery Session today by emailing her at coachautumndiscala@gmail.com or by texting/calling 717-455-0484. When did you first realize you had a gift for coaching people to be their best selves? I’ve always “coached” others; throughout my whole life, people have always come to me for advice, whether that be family, friends, teachers, coworkers, or even strangers! I have always loved being able to listen well and offer suggestions for courses to take, as I have gotten the chance to walk with people through some really challenging situations, or even as I‘ve seen them take action in their lives and take steps forward to the dreams they’ve wanted to achieve. Now, with the training I have, I feel I can walk with and counsel people even better than I’ve ever been able to! You are a woman of faith. How does your faith show up in the way you lead and coach people into success? It’s the center of all I do! The whole reason I’m even in the coaching industry is because I felt the Lord leading me to pursue it, to use my experience and empathy for others to guide them closer to God and toward the life God has for them.

I deeply tie my faith into my coaching and let that be the fuel for my passion for it, as well as my source of energy and love for those I get to work with, acknowledging that God is really the One who guides the women I get to work with into the lives they want to live – I just get to experience it with them. I also think it’s important to note that success is not something to be afraid of, especially as a Christian. The Lord uses our experiences and knowledge to lead us into successful spheres so He can provide for us through our work and so that we can be both generous with others and able to influence others. What an incredible opportunity we have when we follow the Lord into whatever He’s called us to! Tell us about your brand? My tagline is “bring life back to what you do.” When I think about coaching, and specifically my brand, I think about the dry seasons that can come in life when everything feels chaotic and out of our control; sometimes, God can feel distant in these seasons, too.

My hope is that through working with me, women are able to do just that: bring life back to what they do. Whether that be their business that is struggling to grow or produce the fruit they want, their families and relationships, their finances and feelings toward money, their hobbies and passions and being able to grow and develop those, or even their self-image and desires for themselves. In all things, holistically, let’s bring life back to what you do.

What message do you hope women take away from your brand as a whole? My hope is always that in whatever interaction women may have with me, whether that be my brand, my social media, my website, in coaching sessions, etc., they are able to find hope, peace, joy, and support. I hope every woman who interacts with me knows how loved and capable they are. I hope they know that there is a future and a plan for them, that their dreams are valued and beautiful, and that they are, too. That they are able to do just what my tagline says and bring life back to what they do. Take us through a typical session with you, Autumn. What is the experience like? One of my favorite things to start with as I begin sessions with the women I work with is to start by acknowledging what’s going well for them in their lives - celebrating them and the steps they took prior to our session together, no matter how big or small they may be! Then, I pray over our time together, my client, and their week to come. After this, we normally discuss any challenges that may have arisen over the past week and make a plan to correct them if necessary. Once the introductory information is discussed, I’ll dive into the topic of conversation for the day, which covers whatever they may need to learn about or talk about to help them see what next steps they need to take to accomplish their goals. This can cover many topics, such as self-sabotage, energy, life purpose, ways to connect with God, nourishment, nutrition, or so much else!. We will also do a fun and insightful exercise (I have so many to choose from!) that helps really nail the point home. At the end of the session, we’ll discuss action steps to work on until the next session.

Additionally, I love to share handouts that follow along with the sessions, sent to my clients in advance, so they have a guide to follow along with, as well as a journal to reference back to see how far they’ve come! What services are you currently offering for women in entrepreneurship? As a woman in entrepreneurship, I am SO passionate about walking with other women entrepreneurs. Since I work with Christian women from all walks of life as they pursue what it means to be a genuine follower of Jesus, I definitely believe this covers any passions for business, career, work, or whatever other sphere of entrepreneurship women may need accountability, support, and encouragement in. As I am passionate about health and wellness and pursuing stewardship holistically covering nutrition and lifestyle changes, spirituality, career, love and relationships, mental image, and so much more, I believe these are topics women in entrepreneurship should care about and bring balance into (when they’re ready, of course), so they can pursue their goals and business ventures from a place of overflow and not deprivation. I have 2 separate, 12-week coaching programs that can be tailored to what my clients may be needing as they work with me. Want to work on having the courage to grow your business? We can work on that! Need confidence for public speaking and growing an audience? I’d love to coach you through that! Working on publishing your first book? Let’s talk about that and help you get closer and closer to published (and maybe even get you published!). Whatever it may be that women entrepreneurs may need as they pursue their goals, I want to support them in pursuing that from a place of overflow instead of a place of deprivation.

What is next for you and your brand? Where do you feel God is leading you next? I am relocating to Nashville, TN, very soon! All of my sessions are virtual and will remain so. But I am excited to see how living in my favorite place will help me grow and develop my business and brand! I am looking to really plant roots in my business, and as things grow and develop, I’d love to add new programs and opportunities for my clients, an excellent referral network for additional services, and one day even add more coaches to my business under my brand so I can meet the needs of more women who need coaching! I am always learning to hear more from God and be attuned to His voice as I pursue my dreams and passions. I am so blessed to be able to see Him move in my business as He leads and guides me! What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? My mind first goes to Psalm 139. Specifically, my mind goes to dwelling on the Lord who knows us so intimately and who created us so beautifully and uniquely, so we know that we are never too far from Him - He’s always right there to guide us! A pretty woman who hustles in this context knows she is created for a purpose and that she gets to act on that purpose by stewarding what she’s been given - family, career, business, passions and interests, herself, and so much more! She knows she gets to rely on God to lead and heal her, shaping her more and more into the woman He sees her as so she can lead her business and community from true strength. https://autumndiscala.wixsite.com/healthandlif ecoach

We are done holding on to people and things that willingly walk out of our life. They don't want to be there. It is time to let them go. ~PRETTY WOMEN HUSTLE MAGAZINE

PRETTY WOMEN HUSTLE COVER STORY

Neda Kellogg

A Mother, Self-Discovery Coach, Author, Philanthropist, and Student Pilot – Neda Renee was born and raised by a “village” in Omaha, Nebraska. She left her father’s home two days after graduating high school to figure life out on her own. While homeless for three years, she depended on her aunts and older female cousins to provide a place to lay her head or get a good meal and some guidance as she worked on learning how to become stable as a young adult. In her late 20’s, Neda Renee became an entrepreneur, opening up her first official business - Salon TreVon. At her salon, she had countless conversations with moms who were having challenges with their daughters and their behaviors. Wanting to share her secrets of success with these girls, Neda Renee found that she had a passion for guiding girls like her aunts and cousins did for her. Now, with over 23 years of experience providing selfdiscovery and personal development coaching, Neda Renee has her eyes set on sharing her proven method of ‘remembering one’s authentic truth’ around the world. Over the past 16 years, the organization she founded, Project DIVA Int’l (www.projectdiva.org), has delivered relevant programming, emotionally stabilizing skill sets, an economic focus, and foundational career pathways to girls in 6th through 12th grades. Focusing holistically on educational, social, emotional, career, financial, and wellness behaviors, her organization has sustained a less than one percent teen pregnancy rate, a 100% increase in economic knowledge, and a 99% graduation rate during a time when public schools in Minnesota are failing them. Neda is inspired to ensure Black girls in middle and high school are directed toward resources and connections needed to actively pursue the lifestyles they envision. This focus is assisting girls in positioning themselves to make healthy financial decisions while guiding them to create streams of revenue before they graduate high school. Neda Renee currently resides in Brooklyn Center, MN, and is blessed to have two sons, Lavone and Trenton. In her spare time, she is a student pilot in pursuit of her private pilot’s license. She will eventually instruct girls toward their private pilot’s licenses, inspiring them to join the world of STEM through aviation.

I was and have been able to navigate life with an open mind and deep sense of love for people ...

When did you first discover entrepreneurship would become a part of your journey? I began to dip my toe into entrepreneurship when I turned 25. I remember waking up one day and not liking to have to ‘go to lunch’ at a certain time. I wasn’t always hungry at the time allotted by my “supervisor.” It

I enjoyed the newness of a different state’s energy yet yearned for the family at the same time. I signed up for nail school, thinking that that industry was it. I was gonna be a nail tech like my cousin, LOL, but I quickly found out I didn’t like the way women were so picky with my work. I didn’t have the patience to redo any potential mistakes. So, I started creating flower baskets with my friend Melanie. She was the “creative,” and I managed the business side of things. That brought me joy, also. From there, it was off to finding my “talent” and working the ups and downs of pairing it with finding my passion.

from my Mom before she exited my life due to her mental challenges, the presence of my Dad in my life as a provider, the having family that let me stay at their homes as I couch hopped from relative to friend and back again, my cousin Debbie who took me in to coach me on paying bills and ushered me into my first apartment, the fast food restaurant jobs that taught me character and time management, the first job with benefits that helped sustain my apartment, the friends that became family, the friends that were not good for me, and so many more experiences have all led me to understanding that I needed every last one of the experiences to be who I am today. It’s not cliche when people say that if one thing had not happened, I would be who I am or where I am today. I have no regrets about the tears and celebrations that I have had to experience along this journey of mine.

You were born and raised surrounded by a “village” in Omaha, Nebraska. How did your village upbringing impact who you are today as a leader in your industry? I grew up during a time of big families. Both my grandmothers had over ten children, and they were close-knit on both sides. My maternal grandmother was a part of the ecosystems on all the blocks she lived on, and my paternal grandmother was a part of the ecosystem in the projects. They ensured their neighbors were looked after, and they all looked after us. My dad moved us to the suburbs, but my grams were my sitters, so I experienced both types of lifestyles. Being the oldest granddaughter, I was loved by EVERYBODY. I was given so many different perspectives on life as a kid. I watched my aunts and uncles go through puberty. I saw my maternal grandmother and stepdad go through relationship challenges. I remember the pain the community went through when my Uncle Dwayne was murdered and how the community came together to mourn and hold space for my family. Then, my mom and dad divorced, and my mom moved out of the state. It was devastating and fun at the same time.

Who or what would you say was your first example of entrepreneurship done right? It was several people growing up that gave me this example. My father always had something going on where I saw him getting paid for one of his talents. The most prevalent was he painted cars out of our garage. My father could have been a sous chef because of the way he cooked and presented meals. He still, to this day, creates gadgets around the house that are beyond mind-blowing. He used to have me in the garage working on cars with him, and I remember being so proud when one of his clients would come to pick up their car and pay their final payments. They would leave stoked to sport his work! Also, my hairstylist, Mrs. Sonya. She was one of the first Black women-owned hair salons I experienced. I actually knew of no other growing up because she had done my hair for as long as I could remember. Her decor, systems, and ambiance made me feel BEEE-AUtiful as a little girl growing into my teens.

that vision. From your first official business till now, what would you say has been your greatest lesson? Knowing my numbers. I never realized how much of a disadvantage it was that I didn’t understand how money works until I became pissed off about thinking of how I was doing all the right things financially but never getting anywhere. I got really burnt out from not understanding why I wasn’t making money and “Living LaVida Local” with all the hard work I was putting in. One day in my mid-40s, I woke up and was like, “I quit!” not knowing about how money works. I began on a quest to continue opening, marketing, recruiting, and being the talent AND while I was making those a priority, I began to prioritize learning about money. The learning curve has been real. I now know I will learn to my last breath, but I am super honored to know way more than I did when I started my entrepreneurial journey. What would you say is the importance of discovering self? What key tips do you have for self-discovery? The importance of self-discovery is that it is the first relationship you have, not with another person but with you. A fun fact about life is that those who understand how money works at this time in history exhaust a lot of money to study human behavior. The result that they love knowing and that we see in our everyday lives is that marketing tools are used to tell you what you should buy to enhance any and everything about you because you don’t respect, enjoy, and fall in love with you or know you, you will allow them to tell you who you are. The number one key tip I have for our audience is to know that once you decide to slow down and ask yourself all the questions to help you get into alignment with your truth, you will begin to truly live.

Yes! Project DIVA International (PDI). PDI primarily serves middle and high school Black girls within the Twin Cities metro area, ages 11-19, who come from a variety of economic statuses and backgrounds. The majority of our girls are economically challenged and benefit from the intensive coaching – from a community of women who relate to their economic statuses and backgrounds. These women are modeling success and behaviors that align with the changing climate of our time in history. PDI offers a series of five (5) core and advanced academies and two (2) wraparound services to engage, educate, and excite PDI’s girls. PDI’s core academies are entitled The S’sense Academy (self-love/leadership/emotional fitness), Business 369 Academy (personal finance), The Career Exploration Academy, The Travel Academy, and The Investment Academy. Additional offerings include our two (2) clubs – aviation and entrepreneurship. What do you hope young girls take away from the Project Diva Int'l brand? Our main objective is to guide them into understanding the importance of preparing for retirement as we give them the financial vehicles to do it before they exit high school. We desire for them to feel the importance of community, which inspires them to stay connected to us all while they intrinsically embrace the tools we give them to navigate society over the years they stay with us. How can people get involved and support the work you are doing? The philanthropy of women is powerful. Membership: We are seeking women who are interested in growing personally and professionally with us. Our membership is designed for us to ensure that together, we ensure girls are equipped with all that they need to thrive. The money “put in the pot” as we call it, goes to ensure each girl’s dream is supported.

We have girls attaining their private pilot’s licenses, opening up businesses in middle school, and choosing to get certificates in industries that will bring them a return on their efforts without going to a four-year college. This development and time invested cost us per girl, depending on her vision of success for herself! We are also looking for more women to become coaches. The beautiful thing about our organization is that we are all receiving the same coaching toward self-

Due to there no longer being any Black women’s club (https://savingplaces.org/stories/4-africanamerican-womens-clubs-that-helped-write-history), we are currently modeling our vision after the Women’s Club of Minneapolis. BETINA

HUNT Ms. Tennessee Corporate America, Author, Entrepreneur, International Speaker

With a Track & Field scholarship, she attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, majoring in accounting. With over 20 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors, Betina is the CFO of Heal the Hood Foundation of Memphis. Betina is an alum of Leaders of Color, Leadership Memphis, Score CDC LEADS’s Academy, and Southeast Regional Development Corporation’s Community Capacity Leadership Academy (CCBLA). Betina is a proud mother of two young adults and one grandson. Betina earned her ministry license upon graduating from Ministry Training International in 2009 at New Growth in Christ Christian Center. Minister Hunt has served in various departments of the church, such as Youth Pastor’s Assistant, Media Ministry, Praise and Worship Team, and Prayer Leader. She has spoken at many women’s conferences and seminars and continues today.

In 2017, Betina developed a new program called Dignity Bootcamp, where mothers and daughters attend a 6-week camp building their relationship through life-skills training, fitness, health, and education. In February 2016, Betina Hunt was appointed President of the Greater Memphis Chapter for the International Association of Women (IAW), where she led over 200 members from Arkansas, Mississippi, and Tennessee in professional and career development in monthly networking workshops and community events to give back to local not-for-profit organizations. Betina turned her passion for people into an enterprise as a speaker, coach, and entrepreneur. Betina launched BU Beauty & Accessories in 2017 as well, and she is also the CEO of Premier Bookkeeping and Accounting Services and works to help individuals and businesses balance and maintain their financial records.

Ms. Hunt is also the founder of You First Community Foundation. The mission is to impact the lives of menstruators by raising awareness, educating, and providing access to accurate menstrual health information, distributing healthier alternative menstrual hygiene products, and improving public safety by providing female offenders with services that are perceived to reduce the risk of recidivism and to improve integration into the community. Betina’s most recent accomplishment was becoming a published author of The Sisterhood: Journey of Women in Entrepreneurship. It is a compilation of 17 women sharing their stories with tips of becoming entrepreneurs. As of September 2022, Betina Hunt is the First Ms. Tennessee Corporate America representing women business leaders, corporate professionals, and CEOs across the state of Tennessee and the Mid-South. Betina’s philosophy is, “Nothing will change until YOU change your mind.” What inspired your start into entrepreneurship, specifically accounting and financial services? Entrepreneurship was never my goal or desire. My goal was to climb the corporate ladder and get that corner office with the big window that I would see on TV. While math had always been my favorite subject, I fell in love with accounting in the 11th grade. I would look forward to going to Ms. Lancaster’s class to learn and to hear her stories as she was an accountant outside of school teaching. From taking her class, I knew what I wanted my career to be, and that is what I studied in college.

With over 20 years of experience in accounting, can you share a little about your everyday schedule? My daily schedule is not the same every day. One day may be filled with meetings, advisory sessions, responding to emails, and making follow-up calls. Another day could be setting up new clients’ accounting systems and departments. Another day could be community service. What advice do you have for someone looking to start a career in financial services? Make sure you love what you do and why you are doing it. While it may be good money in the field, the work is long and tedious. One must also understand which genre, if you will, of financial services they are interested in. There are so many types of financial services available. It’s inspiring to hear about your ministry work and involvement in your church, including your former role as a Youth Pastor’s Assistant and your speaking engagements at women’s conferences. How does your faith influence your work and the messages you share? Thank you! My faith is the driving force of all I do. I come from a family of servants who love and care for people. My grandmother made sure the family would be in church. My parents made sure they took me and my brothers to church. Women within the church embraced me and taught me how to serve. I wake up every day with an expectation of what I’m believing to see, I will see. And that’s my faith for all I do. If I don’t believe it will be a success, there is no need for me to do it. I share a message of hope, love, and forgiveness, and it starts with believing you deserve to have better, do better, and be loved.

You’ve made a significant impact through your prison ministry, where you developed classes to reduce recidivism among incarcerated women. Could you share a successful story you’ve witnessed as a result of your ministry efforts? Where do I begin? I am so proud of all the women I’ve had the opportunity to mentor and become friends with. There are a lot of stories in 13 years. My very first mentee has done a phenomenal job in turning her life around. After being released, she went back home and started work with her dad’s company. Ironically, he had an accounting firm. She was an amazing singer, a very talented young lady. It was a process, but she was able to get on her feet independently. She became a hairstylist and then added makeup services. I was so happy when she regained her right to vote and voted for the first in over 15 years. She is now a successful business owner and stylist living an amazing life she’s dreamed of. I could go on and on. You’ve ventured into entrepreneurship with BU Beauty & Accessories and Premier Bookkeeping and Accounting Services. Can you tell us more about your businesses and the services you offer to individuals and business professionals across the state and the Mid-South? Can you share more about this achievement and its significance? Yes, Premier Bookkeeping and Accounting Services was birth from offering advice to other small business owners. Through PBA Services, clients were offered services to set up their accounting systems and departments, bookkeeping and accounting services, analytics, and, in some cases, tax preparation.

BU Beauty and Accessories was launched out of what’s called a side hustle. I sold jewelry and became an ambassador of a cosmetic brand selling lipsticks and lip glosses. Sometime later, I launched my own clothing brand, BU Be Uncommon, which is sportswear. I then combined all three items under one roof. Now, it’s BU Beauty and Apparel. Some achievements over the years through PBA Services are that business owners understand the accounting and finances of their business to make sound financial decisions for the sustainability of their company. Many had no clue about accounting or standard procedures and compliances. Through my services, I believe they are more confident and fearless when making decisions. Both businesses give me opportunities to encourage and inspire both clients and customers. Women are more confident and feel good about themselves with a fresh coat of lipstick or gloss or a nice piece of affordable jewelry. I’ve received awards and recognition for both businesses as well. The BU Be Uncommon was awarded Best Commercial Brand, while PBA Services has received Business of Month spotlights and recognitions. Looking ahead, what are your future goals and aspirations, both in your professional endeavors and in your commitment to community service and empowerment? WOW! As a visionary, looking ahead does not look the same as right now. While I’m coming to retirement of PBA Services, I will still offer advisory and consulting services to business owners. I am planning an expansion for BU Beauty and Appeal. I’m really excited about its growth and grateful for those who continue to demand it.

Because of my work with women in prison, I launched my own nonprofit organization named You First Community Foundation, which has two focuses: 1) to continue my work to reduce recidivism for women and juvenile offenders. And 2) to eradicate period poverty and bring awareness to the silent suffering of women and girls during their menstrual cycle. Currently, I am Ms. Tennessee Corporate America, where I represent women who are corporate leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs across the state of Tennessee. Through this platform, I am able to coach and mentor other women in leadership and spread my nonprofit’s mission to serve women and girls by providing information, education, and access. I am excited to say I will have my facility’s grand opening on October 6th. My continued goal is to provide an environment where women and girls feel safe, can build confidence and courage to do all they have dreamed of and gain access to the resources and tools needed. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

Take us to the beginning of your career. What inspired your start in Life & Leadership coaching? My journey to Life & Leadership coaching began after years of working in a military setting, leading and developing others. During my military career, I felt a calling to support and uplift others, especially after witnessing many talented individuals struggle with personal and professional challenges. This inspired me to become a “community answer” by becoming a life coach. Post-retirement, my passion for understanding human behavior, and my eagerness to positively impact others’ lives fueled my journey into coaching and education. Outside of business and entrepreneurship, who is Dr. Radiance L. Rose? Outside of my professional roles, I’m a mother to two amazing human beings, a dreamer, and a lover of God, music, liberty and all things Dallas Cowboys! I believe in the power of mindfulness and the importance of maintaining a strong connection with oneself and the community. In this case, my community consists of family, friends, educators, first responders, and veterans. When did you realize you had a story that needed to be shared with the world? Over time, as I delved deeper into my one-on-one coaching sessions, a consistent theme began to emerge. Many of my clients would listen intently as I shared snippets of my own journey, only to respond with nods of understanding or even emotional revelations of their own. It dawned on me that my personal experiences weren’t just my own - they were reflections of universal challenges, aspirations, and turning points that many of us face.

These encounters highlighted a profound interconnectedness, suggesting that my story wasn’t solely about me but was part of a larger tapestry of human experiences. It wasn’t just the similarities in our stories that struck a chord; it was the transformational impact of shared understanding. Realizing that my trials, errors, lessons, and triumphs could serve as a beacon of hope, guidance, or even a simple sense of camaraderie for others made it clear: my story had the potential to be a catalyst for reflection and change in others… And if sharing my journey could inspire even one person to persevere, find clarity, or embrace their path with renewed passion, then it became not just an opportunity but a responsibility to bring it into the light. Tell us about your book Joy Comes in the Morning? My contribution to the anthology, Joy Comes in the Morning, is a reflection on overcoming adversity, understanding personal growth, and the resilience of the human spirit. It is a collection of stories that serve as a testament to the idea that no matter the darkness, there is always hope and joy awaiting. What message do you hope women take away from your work? I aspire for women to recognize their intrinsic strength and worth through my contributions. We must comprehend that it’s not the obstacles we face but our resilience in overcoming them that truly defines us. Each woman possesses a distinctive voice and narrative worthy of acknowledgment and honor. Concealed wounds cannot heal; hence, seeking guidance from a trusted spiritual counselor or therapist, complemented by genuine friendships, can significantly advance one’s life journey. Prioritizing one’s mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being is the most profound investment a woman can make. Tell us about Seize the Day with Coach Rai? My podcast features interviews with motivational figures, delves into my personal perspectives, and offers practical guidance on challenges related to life, love, and leadership. I provide valuable resources and insights specifically tailored for educators, first responders, veterans, and women. After a seasonal break, the show will air again in October 2023. Stay tuned. What can women expect when listening in? Listeners tuning into the podcast are immersed in a realm of authenticity and transparency. Each episode delivers conversations that are unfiltered and heartfelt, drawing from the raw emotions and genuine experiences of both the host and the guests. Listeners gain empowering advice and walk away with valuable insights and tools they can immediately integrate into their daily routines, fostering growth, resilience, and empowerment. Take us through a typical session with Coach Rai? My coaching sessions start with grounding exercises to center ourselves. We then dive deep into what’s on the client’s mind, explore their challenges, and co-create actionable steps.

I always end our sessions with reflections and commitments for the coming weeks. Clients remain in the driver’s seat. I simply serve as their guide on the side. You have launched the X-Clusive Retreats Experience. Can you take us through your mission? Meet Coach Cam

CAMERON WRIGHT Meet Cameron Wright, a single mom whose journey from a successful career as a medical social worker to operating a million dollar logistics company in the trucking industry is nothing short of inspiring. For 14 years, Cam dedicated herself to helping others as a compassionate medical social worker. Her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of patients and their families earned her respect within the medical community. In 2021, amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic and a diagnosis of MS, Cam made the difficult decision to leave her career in healthcare. After experiencing the overwhelming strain and risks placed on healthcare workers during the pandemic, she realized that it was time for a change. However, Cam’s entrepreneurial spirit and drive for financial independence led her to embark on a new endeavor in the trucking industry. With determination and a thirst for knowledge, Cam, now known as Coach Cam, fearlessly ventured into this male-dominated field, determined to break barriers and prove that success knows no gender. Through her sheer tenacity, strategic business acumen, and perfect business partner, Coach Cam transformed a single truck into a thriving trucking empire, creating wealth and achieving an extraordinary level of success. Her keen eye for opportunities, coupled with her work ethic, propelled her to become a trailblazer in an industry where few women have dared to tread. Today, Coach Cam stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication, perseverance, and the audacity to dream big. Her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs, female leaders, and anyone who believes that with the “Wright” mindset and unwavering determination, success is within reach.

Coach Cam has not only scaled her business into a million-dollar operation, she has created a platform to help others get started in the trucking industry. Through The Wright Agency: business coaching & consulting, she coaches each client to success in all areas of the logistics industry. If you could use four words to describe yourself, what would they be and why? Four words to describe myself would be determined, resilient, loyal, and spiritual. Take us back to the beginning. How did you get your start in medical social work? I graduated from Winston Salem State University in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in gerontology. I was offered a job within 3 weeks of graduating at a facility where I interned. My career began as a social worker in long-term care. I was a CNA, and I became certified in 2006 as a high school graduate. So, I worked as a CNA in facilities throughout Winston-Salem while I was in school. I used that time to network at different events and seminars. In the 3 years I worked in Winston-Salem, I was referred and recommended for jobs at 5 different facilities, but I only accepted 2 of them. I went to WSSU for nursing; it was my work as a CNA that made me realize I didn’t want to be a nurse. I switched majors during my sophomore year. How did your role as a medical social worker prepare you for where you are now in business?

Although healthcare is very different from the transportation industry, I definitely feel like my role as a social worker prepared me! As a social worker in long-term care, you are mainly responsible for coordinating care plans and discharge planning for the residents. This requires organization skills, problem-solving skills, as well as crisis management. As a dispatcher and freight broker, all of those are necessary skills to deal with the carriers and the shippers. Also, as an entrepreneur, you have to be able to handle crisis and chaos. What sparked your transition into trucking? My now fiance, who was a friend at the time, was already in trucking. He worked at a warehouse and got his commercial license to drive trucks. As I wanted to leave healthcare, I decided to invest with him into getting a truck. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in June 2020. I couldn’t mentally handle, or at least it felt that way at the time, seeing the end stage of a disease I was suffering from. Covid was already taking a toll on me mentally at work, then MS... it was God’s way of removing me out of complacency. I was already an entrepreneur. I opened an adult day center in 2014 when I was 25 years old. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing; I was on unemployment with 2 kids! I had no room for failure. I ended up closing the doors in early 2020 after 6 years in business. I started working at the nursing home as a social worker again in September 2019. Due to my divorce, I had to go back to work full time, so it was a struggle to maintain my business and work full time. Then Covid came, so I closed the doors for good in 2020. I was created to be an entrepreneur, so I knew going back to work for someone else was temporary. What would you say is your key to success in the trucking industry when it is such a male-dominated field? I had to find my own vibe in this industry. When my hunni and I first started, it was his vision, and I was bringing my entrepreneurial experience to the table. It took me a while to get my footing and confidence, to be honest. Sometimes, the people I have to deal with can get really rude. Once I got confident in my services and my knowledge and started experiencing financial success, my mental posture changed. My key to success is my confidence, consistency, and communication. What tips do you have for women considering joining the trucking industry? For women coming into the industry, come in bold, unapologetically assertive, and most importantly, knowledgeable. Learn the industry, the terminology, and the regulations. Never stop learning and evolving. Women can wear many hats and multitask very well! We’ll take over the industry in no time! Tell us about Coach Cam and The Wright Agency. How can women sign up? Trucking is an industry that can create first-generation millionaires. I know this personally. Having mentorship, clear vision, discipline, and financial maturity is vital to the success of any company, especially in logistics. The Wright Agency was created to assist, guide, and mentor new entrepreneurs.

We not only serve the logistics industry, but we also have experience in various areas of healthcare, education, athletic agencies, and non-profit project management. We offer coaching and consulting in all areas. Women can sign up or book a consultation on our website, theceocoach.info, or email me at coachcam@theceocoach.info. What is next for you? What can we expect from you in the next 2-3 years? In the next 2-3 years, I will be kicking down doors in real estate. My plan is to start flipping houses in 2024. What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? A pretty woman who hustles is a woman who owns her femininity while walking boldly into who she is. She is a pioneer who fearlessly follows her dreams and stops at nothing to pursue her passion.

Tell us about a time when a client had a great experience and how it made you feel. This happens every time a client leaves my chair and tells me they love their hair and that I made their day a little brighter. It makes me realize I’m truly walking in my purpose, and it makes me very proud of myself. It motivates me even more to make sure I give it my all and to never give up, no matter what obstacles I’m faced with. How do you practice self-care after a busy day in your life? I practice self-care by scheduling date nights with my husband, I practice daily gratitude, I create to-do lists, and I enjoy journaling. I celebrate all wins, no matter how big or small. I enjoy keeping up my appearance as well because when I look good, I feel good. What are important qualities of a good hair stylist? In my opinion, a good hair stylist provides great customer service, has great work ethic, and is honest with their clients. A great stylist also has good communication and listening skills. They are reliable and consistent, and they keep themselves updated with the latest trends. What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? Zontayvia is also an Amazon Best Seller for her contributions to two anthologies. Mrs. Solomon Jiles’s goal is to become a Director of Medical Administration at a hospital. The biggest achievement for her has been beating the odds of being the first in her family to obtain her master’s degree and open her own business. Zontayvia enjoys reading, writing, creating, and spending time with family.

Who is Zontayvia Solomon in four words? a. COURAGEOUS b. STRONG c. GRATEFUL d. DETERMINED

What inspired your journey into entrepreneurship? 2017, I completed my master’s degree and was given job opportunities upon schooling ending. However, Big God had other plans, and my husband was given military orders overseas. We decided it would be best if we all went as a family. Once I got overseas, no jobs were available. I worked as a customer service clerk at a hotel, which paid little to nothing. I also was working as an English teacher, teaching the English language to Japanese. It paid decent, but it just wasn’t enough. So, I decided to be a substitute teacher and AVID tutor at the local high school on post. Juggling all these occupations did not give me the income I was used to. It was providing me with income, but I felt I deserved more. I had friends stateside who would ask me to help them, and I would never ask them to pay. When they would insist, I would ask them to send me American snacks as payment. One day, my light went off, and I said if I could assist them, this would make me the income I need. It’s safe to say that it was the right move. How did your time in the military prepare you for where you are today in business? As a United States Navy Sailor, it taught me a different mindset regarding following protocol and being consistent with repetition. I am big on having an outline. I have written out how I perform each thing I do within my business. In the military, we called these standard operating procedures that allowed you to learn your job along with repetition. With a business, most things are repetition, and with repetition comes perfection.

When I started my business, it took me around three hours to do specific assignments; now, I can complete them in about an hour and a half without interruptions. Outside of everyday entrepreneurship, you are a mother. How do you balance the day-to-day demands of entrepreneurship and motherhood? This is one thing I have not mastered, and it is a work in progress as my children age and change. I will never master it, but at least I will have a plan of action and continue to make it work for us. But I can say that my children understand that my work is for the better of us all. My oldest has a business, so when I am handling my business, I am teaching him to be a businessman himself. In my house, we have a rule, and it is no electronics on the weekdays, which my children have been consistent on since they were three. They tend not to want to do anything but that on the weekend, but I have a rule that we do ALL THINGS FAMILY one weekend out of the month. We generally go on a mini vacation or excursion. I always remind them that we are family and no matter how busy or what we do, we must take time for one another. Tell us about WriteWay, LLC? WriteWay, LLC is a female veteran-owned small business whose mission is to help college students balance priorities by assisting with courses and assignments. WriteWay also assists writers with publishing and editing their works of art. How are you making an impact on your local community through Worthy Youth Community Outreach? WOW!! Worthy Youth Community Outreach, Inc. is my favorite outside family time. We meet with young teens monthly at the local Boys and Girls Club and teach them different life skills. Our mission is to allow teens to gain self-knowledge and understanding to enhance our community’s academic, social, and emotional growth. When we meet and speak with the young teens, they are little sponges and inquisitive. It is a feeling I honestly cannot explain. We also attend community events and help with local operations to give back to the youth. To be able to give back something I wish I had growing up is more than rewarding. You are a bestselling co-author of two amazing anthologies. Can you talk about your chapters and the message you hope women take away? In my first anthology, Girl Don’t Count Yourself Out, My chapter is on when I counted myself out and how I gained the strength to continue and bounce back. In this anthology, I hope women understand that we are humans, not robots. There will be times when we aren’t perfect, but we must keep going, and in those times, we make the most significant impact. In my second anthology, Girl Don’t Count Yourself Out – Moms Edition, my chapter discusses my motherhood journey and what it taught me. I tell about my struggle embracing motherhood and how it gave me a new meaning of priorities.

The enemy thought that because I stopped publishing magazines (His Favor Magazine, His Favor TEEN Magazine, and others), I would just sit back. He also thought that in battling two chronic illnesses, I would throw a pity party and give up. He even thought that people not speaking to me anymore would cause me to feel lonely or depressed. Well, I’ll admit! The enemy had me going for a minute! I indeed became depressed and angry, and my self-esteem went way down. I even found myself in a mental hospital just to be diagnosed as a manicdepressant. But “greater is He that is in me!” Now, I am revamping my business, Shenee’ Shares, while still maintaining a full-time

YET... IT IS NECESSARY, AND I’M HERE FOR ALL OF IT! If you are starting over like me, be reminded of a quote that was sent to me by one of my closest female friends. “They’re judging you ‘cause you keep starting over. I’m clapping ‘cause you never give up.” This meant so much because I was in a state of guilt and wondering what others thought of me.

They’re judging you ‘cause you keep starting over. I’m clapping ‘cause you never give up.”

So, I pray that each of you continues to keep your head up as we walk into a new season. I have heard so many people professing that the last few months have been a real roller coaster ride. I, too, would like to shout “Amen” when I think about my own life. Yet,

However, many do not know the full story or just go by what they heard. I do not blame them. I blame myself for even caring what was thought or what was being said. I should be more concerned with what GOD thinks of me. More importantly, what He has ALREADY said in HIS Word about me.

what lessons have we learned? How has our perspective changed? When are we going to let certain things go? Who should we reconcile with? All of these questions I am certain will be answered as we move forward! It’s October 2023! The 10th month! Only 2 months left, God willing! Stay Focused! Stay In Prayer! Keep Your Eyes on Christ!

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT

Nia Hunt Nia Hunt is a talented Poet, Author, Songwriter, business owner, and college graduate with an associate degree in web/graphic designing, a bachelor’s in criminal justice, and currently working towards a master’s in law. She was born and raised on the streets of Philadelphia. Like many others from the city of brotherly Love, Nia had a tough upbringing. Her parents abandoned her as a toddler, leaving her to face trials and tribulations as a little girl. As a result, Nia was placed in foster care. Feeling helpless and full of pain and heartache and unable to express herself, Nia began writing poetry to release her pain and connect with her inner self and others. Today, Nia is operating in her gifts and displaying her skills as a writer/poet and many more as she gives birth to her company, Intentional Sentiments, which specializes in a unique greeting card collection and many other products created to inspire! Nia’s vision and passion for reaching, comforting, healing, and loving intentionally will show through every card, book, and other product sold by Intentional Sentiments! Intentional Sentiments believes in spreading unconditional love deliberately! (1 Corinthians 13:13) And now there remain faith[abiding in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.

When did you realize you had a passion for sharing stories through your poetry and music? I realized I had a passion for sharing stories through poetry and music when I was 14 years old in foster care. I had started writing poetry to cope with the emotional pain I was carrying around daily. It was the only way I could give myself a voice. Tell us about Philadelphia. What was the creative scene like? Any authors or poets that inspired you? So, my first job in Philadelphia was at the Edgar Allen Poe Museum, and I do not think I realized then the effect his poetry had on me. Music played a big part in my inspiration. I would go to sleep listening to Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” album every night. I was fascinated by the way she put words together and rapped in such an intelligent way that made you listen to her. Growing up, music was always being played in whatever home I was in, starting with my grandfather playing the Temptations on the piano. Music has always been a big part of my life. You faced several obstacles early on in your life. How did those experiences impact where you are today? The trials and tribulations I experienced throughout my childhood made me have a persevering heart and mind.

I do not quit! I don’t know how to give up. I have to succeed in whatever I am doing. I set high standards and goals for myself, pushing myself to get as close to excellence as I can. I also find it easy to relate to many because there is not too much that I have not experienced. I believe God uses this so I can help others heal, get through their trauma, and find peace. How does your testimony show up in the work you do today? My testimony shows up in the work I do today through me being inspiring, spreading love and hope, and pushing others to be intentional about being their best selves. Whether I am writing poetry and songs, creating my greeting cards, or my journals, every word will help heal, restore, rebuild, and evolve into who they were created to be, living out their destiny. Tell us about your company, Intentional Sentiments. Intentional Sentiments started with me creating my own greeting cards that would express the exact message the giver of the card wants to express but on a deeper level. Now, we have completed our first weekly journal titled “Being Intentional,” and we have our first line of affirmation cards also under the title “Being Intentional.” We are on a mission to create a movement where everyone wakes up with the intention to show up for themselves as well as their loved ones, being their best selves and living out their lives with purpose and gratitude as a mindset.

Do you have a specific collection or line that speaks to you the most? My brand, Being Intentional, is what speaks to me the most. I spent too many years just going through the motions of everyday life, not being intentional about the direction I wanted my life to go in. I got tired of surviving life instead of living my life. Now, I am intentional in every role I walk in, my career choices, my health, and how I show up in my life and other people’s lives. What advice do you have for women looking to get their start with their own greeting card brand? My advice to women who would like to start their own greeting card company would be to do your homework first. Research all the different types of cards, find a great designer if you are not an artist yourself, and know what your brand is. Have a plan for where you are going to sell your product and how big you see your company becoming. What you set as your expectations is how far your company will go. Lastly, stay in a creative space, never allowing life to drain you where you cannot produce.

Take us through your creative process from concept to production. My creative process starts with being in a peaceful state. I find it difficult to be creative when surrounded by chaos. I usually find a place to sit where there is beautiful scenery, whether by a window or sitting out in my backyard. God is the best creator of all, so looking at this beautiful world with the different color birds and butterflies, tall trees, and beautiful animals like deer keeps me in a peaceful state. I then visualize the artwork for my greeting cards and write out what I saw. I then send my designers the writings so they can create the artwork. Lastly, I write a message of love, encouragement, or whatever message is needed for the occasion to complete the card. Once I have all of my artwork and messages, I go to print the cards out for sale. What message do you women take away from your platform? I believe the message women take away from my platform is you can have all of your heart’s desires and be successful at it all. We do not have to choose to just be wives and mothers, but we can be that and have successful, thriving careers or businesses without neglecting our homes, bearing good fruit everywhere we go.

What is next for you? What can women expect from intentional sentiments in the next 2-3 years? Women can expect books authored by me, more journals and affirmation cards, our own Christmas wrapping paper, and embarking on opportunities to help build communities and support our youth in becoming their best selves.

SPOTLIGHT BEAUTY DIRECT STUDIOS

DONNA E. KNIGHT Donna E. Knight is the CEO and owner of Beauty Direct Studios, an all-natural beauty and wellness spa dedicated to providing healthier alternatives to beauty and wellness. In addition to being an entrepreneur, Donna is a public speaker and author. With a bachelor’s and master’s in public health, her professional background includes over 20 years of experience in Healthcare Leadership and Administration. Donna retired from this career to pursue her true passion full-time, which is teaching other people how to live a life they absolutely love. Donna has a passion for empowering people and equipping people with the maximum potential to embrace a winning mindset in their professional and personal lives.

What sparked your interest in the beauty and wellness industry? I used to be a Mary Kay consultant years ago. I really enjoyed sharing beauty tips with people, teaching people how to apply make-up, etc. The Beauty Industry is so vast and in such high demand, I decided it was an industry I wanted to pursue again as a serious independent entrepreneur. Take us back to the beginning. What or who inspired the start of Beauty Direct Studios? Beauty Direct Studios started as a make-up artistry in 2014. I decided in 2021 to revamp the business as a beauty supplier.

After having several horrible shopping experiences at traditional beauty stores, I decided we (women of color) should have a luxury beauty shopping experience with products that are good for us, all-natural and toxic-free. In 2022, I pivoted again and decided to be a beauty hub for all things of color, so not only do we sell beauty products with women of color as a top priority, but we also sell products exclusively made by women of color. I decided it was time for women of color to take back our beauty narrative. As the CEO of Beauty Direct Studios, you’re committed to empowering people. Could you share a pivotal moment when you witnessed someone’s transformation after embracing a healthier beauty and wellness routine? I see the lightbulb go off with our clients every day. People literally walk around the store in awe once I explain our products and who the products are made by. People are usually speechless, and most people say, “How did you think of this?” “You inspire me,” or “We needed this.” So it isn’t just about being able to get healthy products, but it is also the story behind the products. People like to purchase things they feel connected to, and handmade beauty products made by people who look like them is the truest connection and transformation because it is internal. What drives your passion for equipping individuals with these positive changes?

In just the 8 months we have been open, I have touched so many lives, either through products, business advice, or giving someone the opportunity to share their brand at our pop-up shops. My children are growing up and getting to see what our beauty store is doing for people and how it only takes commitment and hard work to touch lives and make a difference. I know I must continue to keep going and see what 8 years will bring. What does life after retirement mean for you? What does a typical day look like for you? Life after retirement means walking in my true passion and purpose. It means pursuing my divine purpose as a mother, wife, and businesswoman. A typical day is never typical. With four children, I never know what each day looks like. We start at 6 a.m. The kids are normally on the buses by 7:30. I get myself and my baby ready for the day. We get to the store around 9:30 and take 30 minutes to check emails and messages. At 10 a.m. the store is open. We fill the day with customers, virtual meetings, and posting content. I’m finally home at 6:30 p.m. Your decision to transition from a successful career in Healthcare Leadership to pursuing your passions is bold. When did you realize it was time to make that shift? I realized the American Dream is not the American Dream for a woman of color in Corporate America. We are not paid what we are worth, and it is a constant struggle and fight to get people to recognize our worth. I decided I wanted to truly control my destiny, bet on myself, and, better yet, create wealth opportunities for my children that a typical 9-5 just can’t create. Being a public speaker and author adds another layer to your dynamic career. What message do you hope women take away from your brand? Be tenacious, courageous, and bold. You are writing your legacy. What is next for you and your brand? Where do you hope to see your platform in the next 2-3 years? I am working to create a foundation for Beauty Direct Studios that will allow it to operate independently and have several locations. I plan to open another business in the next 3 years, but that is really a secret. I also plan to transition to DEKNight Enterprise full-time as a motivational speaker and author. What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? She is a woman who is walking righteously and boldly with grace as she strives to build her community with her talents and abilities.

What inspired your start in health and wellness, specifically holistic health? My dad, Dr. JL Johnson, introduced the health and wellness space to me. He started a health business 42 years ago, and it’s still thriving today. I’ve always thought I was meant to be like Dad. Over the years, you have launched several brands. What would you say is the key message presence within your entire platform? My message has always been that women deserve to live a life healthy and healed. They have the right to make an informed decision based on information from all sides (western and traditional). Self-care is vital to living in a healthy space and NEVER giving from an empty well.

You have spent over 30 years developing insight and educating yourself in herbology. How did this time prepare you for where you are today in your journey? I’m in my menopausal years, and they say these are the years of wisdom. The studying and sowing I’ve done over the years has allowed me to change generations. My motto has always been if I can change Mama Bear, I can change generations to come. She will teach her daughters and lead them by example. That’s my mention as a grandmother of 11. Wisdom is the outcome of understanding and knowledge applied. In 2009, you battled a brain tumor. Can you share a little of your testimony and how that experience has shifted your message? The brain tumor caused my passion to ignite. I suffered from headaches for months and finally decided it was time to switch to natural remedies after not being able to function without aspirin. After going for a checkup, an MRI was ordered. The doctor called and asked me to come in. Before I got to my appointment, I heard the Lord ask me if I trusted him. My answer was, “YESSSS, you’ve never failed me.” The report came back positive for a meningioma. The first words out of my mouth were, “We are not cutting into my head.” It was like my authority over my body and my healing was established. I commanded my healing. I asked her for 3 months, and we would decide from there what needed to be done. We put a herb wellness plan together, and I completely changed my diet. The pain and the shaking in my hand slowed down after 3 months. Because it wasn’t completely gone, we decided to do another 3 months. All pain and symptoms were gone by then. We(hubby and I) agreed to do another MRI in 2010, and it came back clear. Praise God. I’ve been tumor-free since. Tell us about W.I.T. Love Nation. How can women get involved? WIT Love Nation is still in the developing stages. It’s a community of women in the perimenopause and menopause stages looking for holistic information in selfcare, nutrition, and customized formulas for women of color. What is next for your platform? Where can we expect to see you in the next 2-3 years? Semi-annual retreats for women in perimenopause and menopause. I believe in reaching back. Having women of wisdom pour into knowledge, encouragement, and hope in perimenopausal women is empowerment to me.

What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles? I see a woman who understands her purpose and is not afraid to put in the work to make that happen. Her moves say strength, her presence says class and elegance, and her aftermath says mission accomplished.

MEET THE DOULA DREAM TEAM:

Felecia and Latonya

Felecia, known as the “Baby Whisperer,” is a Birth and Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, and Midwife Assistant and is obtaining her Ph.D. in Natural Medicine, started her journey as a doula after bringing her grandson into the world. With over 25 years of healthcare experience, Felecia knew that she could bring more community-based care to mothers and their families. Every client has mentioned Felecia’s intuitive spirit has brought them through labor and delivery. Latonya, “The Quiet Nurturer,” is A State Certified Community Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, PAILAdvocate, Fertility Advocate, and Midwife Assistant and is obtaining her Ph.D. in Natural Medicine. Her journey started after suffering from her own infant loss. Latonya wanted no mom or their families to feel alone and wanted to heal the community with resources and education.

Felecia and Latonya met as Doula partners working in a local doula agency. After three years, the dream team created Ancestral Birthing Queens to bring a prenatal safe space for moms and their families and take their continued education to the next level, becoming Dr. Johnson and Dr. West in late 2024 and bringing Holistic Care to their community-based practice. Can you both share what initially inspired you to pursue careers as doulas? (Felecia) What initially inspired me to be a Doula was that I was blessed to help bring my grandson MKhai into the world. (Latonya) After my own experience with infant loss and difficulty having my first child, I wanted to find a way to support and educate women to become advocates for their health as a whole.

Felecia, you’re known as the “Baby Whisperer.” Can you tell us more about how your experiences and background in healthcare led you to this unique role and what it means to you? My name, the Baby Whisperer, came from my two brothers. My experiences that led to this name were that every time I had a birth, I would talk to the babies while still inside their mother. Before their labor got intense, I would place my hands on their belly and talk real quietly to the baby, letting them know that it was fine to come out and that they would see bright lights and funny faces along with meeting their parents. My background in the healthcare field has taught me how to bond and relate to most people, especially pregnant women, since that’s who I saw the most in the clinics I worked in. Being able to support and advocate for women is by far the greatest gift I can give myself since I never knew doulas existed during my time of pregnancy. Latonya, you’re often referred to as “The Quiet Nurturer.” Could you share your personal journey and the events that led you to become a doula, advocate, and caregiver for those who have experienced infant loss? After bringing my second daughter (Sarah Amelia) into the world and her passing, I realized that I would’ve had a better experience if I would’ve known my birthing options and been educated by my OB on my reproductive issues after the complications after the birth of my first daughter. I was told I was young and my body would be fine after I asked for extensive tests. After her death, I vowed to honor my daughter Sarah by educating her sister Gabrielle on her reproductive health and helping others by becoming a doula in late 2019 and later on becoming an infant loss advocate and helping the Count the Kicks organization bring legislation to Congress so woman all over the country can soon have stillbirth and infant loss support. You met as doula partners and cofounded Ancestral Birthing Queens. Can you tell us about the vision and mission behind your organization and how it’s making a difference in your community? Ancestral Birthing Queens’ vision and mission is to provide community-based care to all women and families regardless of income, race, or gender. We promise to provide a safe, loving, physical, and emotional space for all our families.

THE DOULA DREAM TEAM: FELECIA AND LATONYA What services are you currently providing to mothers and families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum? We offer a customized full-spectrum doula care service from preconception to the first year of birth. Meaning prenatal, birth, postpartum, education, and resource navigating. We also assist parents with getting the necessary items they need for their baby for the first few months. What challenges have you faced in your journey as doulas and caregivers, and how have you overcome them to continue providing essential support to your community? The challenges we’ve faced have been funding for our business, local resources for our clients, and some clients who have poor communication with the doulas. We’ve navigated these challenges by having a business mentor, local foundations that donate, and partnering with health facilities that support small businesses. What advice do you have for expectant mothers and families who are considering the services of a doula or caregiver during pregnancy and childbirth? The advice that Ancestral Birthing Queens would like to offer to families and expectant mothers is to do your research on pregnancy outcomes with having a Doula. Research your hospital of choice, your OB, or your Midwife of choice. Please make sure that you are being fully heard, understood, and respected regardless of your choices. You can find us on FB @Ancestral Birthing Queens Our Website and IG is coming later in 2023

What inspired you to become an entrepreneur and open Exclusive Cleaning Services? Growing up, I always knew that I would have my own business, but I did not know when. I opened Exclusive Cleaning Services as I saw a need for women to be able to come home to a clean environment. It is extremely hard to maintain a business life, family life, and marriage life when you have trivial things to take care of. I decided that the best way that I can help is to provide a service that would allow time and freedom for working women.

Tell us about your company Exclusive Cleaning Services. What type of products do you use, and what services do you provide? We provide residential and commercial cleaning services. We have been in business for 15 years now. We are licensed, bonded, insured, and certified by the ISSA/OSHA. My original intent was to purchase a franchise from one of our competitors “Merry Maid.” I went through the entire process of interviewing and meetings, and one day, I decided to do it myself and save money. I joined an organization called “QT Enterprises” and studied how to become an entrepreneur and created by business plan. While working in Corporate America, I was creating my strategy to exit from the corporate arena. I presently have twenty-three employees and twenty-five accounts, including Apple, Coach, Home Depot, Michigan Chronicle, and more. In 15 years, I have raised this business to a million-dollar status through hard work and perseverance. Outside of being a business owner, what is your involvement in your community? I am a co-author of two books that are available for purchase. The Divine Feminine: My Relationship With God and Joy 365. Joy 365 will be released this fall. I’m passionate about building relationships with individuals in the community. We are always giving out different tools and supplies, such as school supplies and cleaning products, to individuals in need. I am a Ladies of Justice Ambassador, supporting women to have access to an attorney and empowering women to own their seat at the table. . At Exclusive Cleaning Services, we provide free cleanings for individuals diagnosed with cancer. I’m very passionate about being able to help people with cancer. At my former place of employment, I was the charity coordinator for several companies. I have donated over $100,000 in funds to different charities throughout my tenure in corporate America. What advice do you have for someone who wants to become an entrepreneur? It is important to remember that entrepreneurship involves taking calculated risks and learning from your experiences. Stay open to learning, be patient, and remain committed to your vision. It is a journey that requires dedication, hard work, and a passion for what you are building. Stay focused, have faith that you will succeed, and it will happen for you. Also, remember everyone is not going where you are going, and it is okay to come back and get them. Along with being an entrepreneur, you are a mother and grandmother. Can you share how you navigate having a balance and being able to pour into your family? Oh my, this question makes me smile! I have two older sons, Terrell and Devon Wallace. They have two boys, Braylen and Wes. They are my heartbeat and the reason I grind so hard. I genuinely want to leave a legacy for them.

However, they are in different states, and I am making myself available to either FaceTime them or travel to see them. This is how I arrived at my other goal. A goal that I have is to obtain a private jet so that we can see each other whenever we want. I make as much time as I can to speak with them. Unbelievably, I still text my sons good night all the time, and they are over thirty. There is no such thing as balancing. I go with the flow, make sure they know that I love them, and I do the best I can to see or speak with them. My journey was not easy as a single mom, along with my journey with domestic violence. However, we made it through. How do you practice self-care after a busy day in your life? Remember that self-care is not a one-size-fits-all approach. It is about discovering what activities and practices rejuvenate and energize you. I regularly assess my self-care routine and adjust as needed. Taking care of myself allows me to show up better in all areas of my life. What can your supporters expect from you next? My next goal is to launch the Exclusive Elderly Resource Center, where we will be a resource center for seniors, connecting with vendors that provide services for seniors, such as legal advice, transportation, meals, health care, and more. When my mom passed away a few years ago, I had so many obstacles trying to figure out where to get help, and it was truly traumatic and time-consuming. I decided to open this non-profit organization to help seniors and family members lead a lifestyle of less confusion. We are working at a polite office in Atlanta as well. My future goals in about 6-8 years are to open in Angola, Africa, creating a space there for seniors as well. I will also provide entrepreneurial training for individuals who would like to open their own cleaning company. What is your definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles?
