Charletta Taylor BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Take Your Business to Another Level With CEO Charletta Taylor Charletta is an International Speaker/Coach/Aspiring Author. She is the President of Quality of Life, a nonprofit whose mission is to strengthen families. Her Business is Another Level Coaching & Consulting. Her coaching speciality is Life & Relationships and the main emphasis is on Women’s Empowerment. The business consulting portion of her company focuses on taking entrepreneurs to the next level. Charletta Has an educational background in Business Management & Theology. CCharletta has been the Guest Contributor on both local and international podcasts. Most recently topics have ranged from Mental Health in the Black Community and Fighting Injustice. Charletta is now booking workshops for groups of 10 or more. Current topic: “Why Am I Here?” After this workshop, you will never again wonder why you wasted time on a dead end job, in a boring meeting, at a lifeless party, or on a date with no potential…you will learn the value of putting meaning to the people and places that you spend your time with. Because time is not money, you can always make more money but you cannot make more time. PWH: What inspired your start in coaching? CT: My inspiration for coaching stemmed from a desire to see women achieve a successful balance in every area of their lives. In business, family, relationships, etc. After my mom passed I began to ask myself, “Is this how I want to be remembered?” I was grateful for my position in Corporate America, but I wasn’t fulfilled. I wasn’t living up to the potential of my Purpose and deep down I knew it. I was overworked, overweight, and constantly overwhelmed. When I changed my life, lost 60 lbs, and took control of my destiny, I wanted to show other women how to do it. PWH: What is the passion behind your nonprofit “Quality of Life?" CT: I love the babies lol…As a Single Mom, my passion began by simply wanting to help make life better for younger Single Moms. I believe that creates a better quality of life for their children. Fast forward, our focus is still on children, but we have changed the mission to strengthening families. The passion behind that is wanting to see all hands on deck to make sure children succeed in life.

PWH: What are 3 tips you have to help entrepreneurs get to the next level? CT: • Never underestimate the power of making a genuine connection. • Remove the limits. Think big when it comes to your vision. If it’s not for you, who is it for? •. Establish a charitable giving program. I believe that when you have a desire to help people that are less fortunate, God finds a way to expand your territory. You are not only a vessel, but you allow yourself to become a conduit. PWH: What can women expect when attending your workshops “Why Am I Here?” CT: Women can expect to gain useful information that they can begin to implement immediately. My workshops are fun and interactive, however they are also packed with a blend of sound wisdom, business principles, and practical information that you can apply. No question is a dumb one and no relatable topics are off limits. Conversations are candid. They are real. Women can expect honest, helpful information that will save them a lot of time, money, and heartache if they apply the principles they learn. PWH: What is next for you and your brand? CT: I am so excited to be working on a book. I know that it is going to help so many people. We are also launching an online store which will contain inspirational books and resources. Bonus: What is your definition of A Pretty Woman Who Hustle’s? CT: My definition of a Pretty Woman Who Hustles is one who works hard to achieve her dreams and goals in life. She doesn’t wait for someone to offer her a seat at the table. She creates her own fabulous table and then she turns around and helps other Pretty Women build their own table!

Mastering The Balancing Act “I think you have too much on your plate.” “You are going to burnout.” For as long as I can remember, these phrases have been said to me by family and friends. Whenever I had a job and someone needed help or something needed to be planned, I was always the first to raise my hand. Now that I have started a new career, you would think that I would have learned some sort of lesson. Well, that’s not the case. In fact, I am pretty sure I’m busier than ever before. Becoming an author, a mother, a wife, and a part-time employee is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I will admit that it could feel overwhelming and a little chaotic, but it is all worth it when you experience those little wins in your business. One of the most important lessons I learned is to PUT IT ON THE SCHEDULE. It sounds a little silly, but plan out everything. Whether you are working on your business, spending time with the kids, or even preparing meals, everything needs to be placed on a schedule. Most importantly, don’t forget to schedule some alone time for yourself. Remember, you are the one who is doing the balancing act, so in order for things to continue to run smoothly, you have to take care of yourself both mentally and physically. If you are finding it difficult to balance everything, then take a break. You deserve it! This is the perfect time to relax and take a breath so that you can recharge and take on the world. Listen, times are tough, especially as of late, but I believe in you. Yes, you! We all have greatness inside of us. If you need help with your balancing act, reach out to us at PWH; we will support you. We have all been there. Heck, I’m there right now. I need help getting organized ASAP. However, I will get through it. We all will get through it, and when we do, we will all have more wins to celebrate. No matter what, keep moving, ladies! A balancing act means that you have that much more to be grateful for. You got this! Take the world by storm. You are all beautiful and powerful women, and I believe in each of you.

ONE STEP FORWARD TODAY IS ONE STEP MORE THAN YESTERDAY. CELEBRATE THE WIN AND KEEP GOING. YOU GOT THIS!

“The Art of Owning your Role”

By Latrina Caldwell

Hey Girlfriend, It’s your MHP Latrina C.

Everything starts with the father (Jesus), so to even be able to foster a sturdy foundation, you must maintain your connection with a faith base. More than ever, we need to stay connected in any way possible. This is what will activate that inner power that will keep you focused and ready to fight. This journey called life, unfortunately, doesn’t come with a handbook. You have to create your own roadmap to happiness and success. Most of us women wear multiple hats, from wife, mom, entrepreneur/boss, daughter, sister, and the list goes on and on… Ladies, as a high-achieving woman, make your life expectations abundantly clear. Start with setting goals and expectations of yourself. In order to have a leveled foundation, you must have a few main components. One of them is balance. Balance is one of the MAIN components essential to having a firm and level foundation in life; another important key to emphasizing a stable life is prioritizing your health and self-care. Getting your ducks in a row and being organized will help you stay focused and on track as you progress with the necessary balance required for success, whether it be a big win or simply executing daily responsibilities without deterioration of your overall health due to stress or exhaustion. This is how you progress without wearing yourself to the brink of exhaustion. If you don’t take control and establish a healthy balance, you will find yourself running in circles like a hamster on a wheel – just going and going but not moving forward. You must take action and ownership by establishing structure in your environment. You can achieve this by creating an effective routine and owning your schedule. A local pastor at a prominent church in my friend’s hometown emphasized the critical importance of “Living Life By Design and Not From Crisis to Crisis.” This is why you must be aware of who you are. It is critical to your ability to successfully live a fulfilled life. Maintaining a stable foundation must be built on core values that align with your beliefs and goals. So the key is to first establish balance; however, you must also maintain it by being diligent within your routine, staying on track, and being focused. Creating consistency within your life will positively impact your ability to have a balanced and fulfilled life. Strive for a healthy lifestyle by making sure you are getting enough rest. You have to be serious and dedicated to a daily self-care routine and treat it with priority.

Time management will be another key component towards maintaining a healthy balanced life. Make time for things that are important to you. It’s more important now than ever to keep a good connection with a higher power. A little faith can carry you a mighty long way, and it will help you stay motivated and encouraged through adversity and onto your goals. Remember, everything starts with the father. To obtain and maintain the ability to foster a balanced foundation, you must maintain a connection with a faith base. I cannot stress this enough. Be aware of what you possess within by acknowledging the Source. It will activate and serve as a driving force for the inner power you possess. Your inner strength and power will keep you focused and always ready to fight any obstacle/ negative energy. We also have a habit of neglecting ourselves. We place ourselves on the back burner to take care of our responsibilities at work and at home. Personal time is crucial to your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health so take vacations. It does not have to be for an extended period of time. Consider a quick weekend getaway to have fun or just meditate, rest, and relax. Last but not least, please make it a priority to address your mental health. If your mind is not in a healthy state, it might be difficult to stay focused on the task at hand. Pay attention to your partner and children as well. This pandemic has taken us through some dark moments, and we will never be the same. While you are home, re-adjusting your routine, utilize some of your free time to seek resources. Take care of yourself as a whole; times are changing. It is okay to ask for help. Stop procrastinating and take action. Plan ahead, stay positive, be healthy, and remain motivated. Remember, this journey is personal for you, but you are also an example to others. Keep your balance, girlfriend. You are the artist in your life. Paint your picture. Make it as colorful as you like. Trina Tips: • Do a social media check out once a week. • Take a mental break for your own peace and sanity. • Remember, you become your thoughts; try to do a mind sweep. • Apply self-care in your everyday life. • Spend some time alone. Sit in full peace. • There are simple things around the house you can do, such as take a bubble bath, light a candle, and play some relaxing music. • Find an inexpensive hobby. • Think of things you that you have wanted to and put on hold. Let’s make good use of our time at home. For example, start a garden or paint your room. • Exercise! Make good use of the space you are in. For example, walk up and down the stairs for ten minutes. Do some jumping jacks. Watch a YouTube workout video. Journal this experience. • Write down your goals and create a plan for the next 3, 6, and 9 months. Set a reminder for these small activities. If you are looking for a motivation boost during these unpredictable days, C2C Coaching is offering complimentary consultation calls. Visit C2CCOACHING.org

Life, Spirituality and Balance The balance between life and spirituality is one that we struggle with often as adults. When you’re a kid, you just go with whatever you’re told to do. Oh, to be a kid again! As an adult, you’re responsible not only for your spirituality but for those under your care. This can be tiring, stressful, and even confrontational depending upon household beliefs or even the beliefs your partner grew up within their household. By definition, spirituality is “the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.” This is not to be confused with religion. Religion is defined as “the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.” We all have the power to change the narrative that success is possible when spirituality is not present. This is in no way true. If anything, we need to embrace spirituality to move to the next level in our lives. You can have it all! When you’re concerned with making sure everyone is in a good place spiritually, you tend to put your own spirituality on the back burner. Material things come and go in life; therefore, our care and concern should be focused on being kind toward one another. Taking time to offer help to others is one of the best things you can do to embrace spirituality and life balance. You will be fulfilled when you do this.

There are three easy steps to spirituality and life balance: 1. Meditate 2. Manifest 3. Move in love You’re ALREADY AMAZING, so go ahead and add this gem to your box of AWESOMENESS, SIS!

Hazel - E Rapper |Entrepreneur |Wife | New Mom By: Patrice Rivers

Arica Adams known as Hazel – E is a known reality tv star from The Love & Hip Hop Franchise. Outside of TV Hazel – E is taking the entrepreneur world by storm as a Publicist to celebrities, brand consultant and owner of Girl Code INC, and Girl Code Cosmetics. Hazel is married to the love of her life De’von Waller and they have given birth to a beautiful baby girl Ava Dior Waller.

Hazel-E Opens up About Growth, Career and Tips for New Entrepreneurs

@Hazelebaby

Patrice: It has been a while since you starred in Love N Hip Hop. How did you feel that experience has helped your growth as an artist and entrepreneur? Hazel-E: Love & Hip Hop gave me the most prominent platform I've ever been on at that time. It gave me a vast audience to introduce myself to the world as an artist and a former publicist. It came me the platform for the world to know who Hazel-E is. That's what Love & Hip Hop was to me; a conduit for taking me from one level of what I was doing and making it on a larger scale. If you use the platform for what it is for, the experience can be positive. The platform helped me to identify who Hazel-E is as a personality, as an artist, who Arica is as a mother. I learned how to use my platform for influence and how to monetize social media as well. Patrice: How would you describe your experience in Marriage Bootcamp? Hazel-E: I think my experience with Marriage Bootcamp was positive. It's like a therapy-based show. I mean, hell, Devon and I got married, so Marriage Bootcamp was all right for me. (laughs) Patrice: It seems like real growth took place while you were on the show, which is very empowering, by the way! Hazel-E: Thank-You! Patrice: As a female rap artist, what has been your biggest struggle so far in your career? Hazel-E: Getting platinum! (laughs) People took me more seriously as a rapper before Love n Hip Hop because you are on the streets and on this great program that people think is like acting TV. We have seen one person get successful from the platform. People look at us like rap actors. But I would say getting people to take the artist side of me seriously. There must have been a rapper artist Hazel-E before there was Hazel-E on Love & Hip Hop. I think the most challenging part is transferring the notary of the TV success of Hazel-E and matching that success to the music side of things. Patrice: Awesome! I agree that many people look at a reality show differently because they tend to focus on the negative side of things and within the people on the show. I have been a big fan of The Love & Hip Hop Franchise since season one. Now that you are married and have built a beautiful family, what advice do you have for entrepreneurs trying to balance family and career?

Photographed By Demarcus Adams

Hazel-E: When I was in my early stages of hustling when I was in my twenties and just graduating from college, I say focus on yourself and hustle. The balance now comes with the wisdom within the industry. When the seasons are hot, I know when work will slow up or when a situation needs publicity. I'm very schooled in the game of the industry. In the stage of life where I am at, I can balance it because I know the temperature. Coming into the industry, I could have never done it. Before, it was 24/7 Hazel, but now it's five-hour or eight-hour Hazel and the rest of the time is with Ava and De'von. Now I know how to balance both because I have navigated through the game.

Patrice: That's good that you learned how to balance them both. Most entrepreneurs are still struggling to balance their work and personal life. Hazel-E: You must put what you love first before anything you may need. You always must make sure home is right first. Patrice: Most people do not realize that you have a successful brand management company called Girl Code. What do you think are the most common mistakes entrepreneurs make in their business, and how can they avoid them? Hazel-E: One common mistake is not owning everything that you are trying to brand. The first part of the success that I learned is legally owning the brand that I'm promoting. What if I didn't hold Girl Code Inc. and I put that all across TV and across the name of mixtapes, or what if I didn't own the name Hazel-E and somebody can go in and buy that name and make a profit off of it? Those two things, I think, are some of the common mistakes people make when branding yourself and owning what you are selling. Get yourself together first, then flex to the world! Patrice: Protecting yourself and your brand is vital, and if you do not, somebody can steal it. Hazel-E: You must protect your brand and what is yours. If not, someone can take it and make a profit from it. Patrice: After watching the two episodes of 'The Conversations,' I saw the growth within you. Who or what do you give credit to your change? Hazel-E: With the whole situation dealing with colorism, that is when I discovered I needed a time-out. When I separated from jobs and brands, I had advertised for, and you're thinking, "Oh my God, everything you have worked for has been taken away from you" because of one ranging moment you had on social media. When I did that, I lived in Dubai for nine months, close to a year, and I just played with God. I got myself back together by doing a restart for myself. I packed my stuff away in storage in LA, and I went to Texas to visit my family, and I got an apartment in Dubai and detached from anything toxic. I also got a chance to be on 'Iyana Fix My Life,' and she even encouraged me to go to my safe place. The time off that I had allowed me to come back and know what I need to do and the voice I needed to deal with situations differently. When I came back from my "time-out," I started first by taking care of all of the problems that I have faced. Patrice: Sometimes, you must get away from all the distractions and social media and focus on yourself. Hazel-E: At that time, I was still single, I did not have any kids, and just getting out of a toxic relationship, I took that time to focus on me. Patrice: You are keeping it real, and I love it! I know the readers love it as well! So, we are going to have some fun now. How would you describe your brand in five words? Hazel-E: Feminine, Powerful, Successful, Hustle, and loyal. My brand is loyal to those who are loyal to the brand. Patrice: I like that! So, what is something about you that supporters cannot find online? Hazel-E: My intensive PR resume. People do not know that I was on the staff for public relations for the comic series 'Boondocks,' from a comic strip to a television show. For the movement behind Gnarls Barkley, every play, every show, every concert, and every MTV Music Awards Show, they were in running campaigns to get exposure. You will see me with artists like the young Chris Brown, young Trey Songz, and young Ne-yo, and you will understand that I was already a movement out here.

Patrice: What is your definition of a pretty woman that hustles? Hazel-E: No matter what your hustle is, it is about having a particular style and grace about yourself. Whether you are hustling through college, delivering the mail every day, or an Instagram model, do it your way. It is not just about being pretty, but it's about how you do things and have a certain finesse with it.

"Focus on Growth instead of Perfection"

THE PRICELESS FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN

Available NOW

If you continue to believe in your business as much as you believe in your children, you will always dominate as a mother and as an entrepreneur! I A.M. EDITING, INK MIAMI FLORIDA

THE MOMPRENEUR

Chanda W. Johnson

Running a business and being a mother is definitely a difficult job but being a mompreneur is the new thing for our upcoming generations. Along with this superwoman title comes a huge level of responsibility and frustration; far more than the average mom has to deal with on a daily basis. Women are built to maintain many positions at once, but no one has ever said that it's always easy. It comes with many different challenges, regardless that doesn’t stop the show. Women somehow always seem to make it work. That's just one of the many gifts that women are blessed with, they have the ability to multitask. Women are moving to becoming entrepreneurs, because of political reasons as well as wanting the flexibility of being able to be more available to their families and this way they don't have to worry about the hassle of working for anyone. Maintaining a business can be a gift and a curse, therefore it holds it's advantages and disadvantages. There are often times that mompreneurs have to stay up long hours and be sure to make time for everyone and everything. As a mother they aim to make sure that things go right in their homes; however, it's important to mothers that everyone is safe and happy. Even when they’re not happy themselves. In this new generation, things are a lot different than they used to be. Mothers used to stay at home and take care of the house; while the fathers worked and took care of the family financially. Nevertheless, we are dealing with a new generation of families, as time moves on. Women are becoming more and more independent and running single family households. Mothers are working to provide for their families alone and build legacies. By all means the moms today are determined to work hard and make it happen no matter what. Raising children and growing a business requires knowledge of how to balance our lives and there are things that they have to do in order to be successful. Being a mompreneur requires consistent nurturing and attention for the business and family in order for them to grow and have an outstanding outcome. This is enough to break any woman down, so you must be sure to do a couple of things to stay afloat. -make some time for yourself, even if it is only for 10 minutes. -Set a schedule and stick to it. Set times that you're not available to anyone including your children. -In order to be successful with both there must be a lot of time management, organization, and balance. -Always keep a notebook handy or some type of organizer, so that you can keep your thoughts together and be able to jot down ideas or information that you don’t want to for. Working a business and maintaining a family does have it's complications, but in the end it is a blessing for not only your future, but the future of your children and grandchildren. It leaves behind a legacy while you're business running your business. Keep in my mind to let your children help in any way possible.

Things to be Thankful For: A Guide for Surviving the Holidays It’s that time of year again where the holiday bells ring, and you can smell the crisp air of joy and happiness. What do you enjoy best about the holidays? Is it great food? Spending time with family and friends? Or is it special sales at retail stores or online? Whatever it is, be sure to make every moment count. But what if you are a business owner or an entrepreneur? Times like this during the holidays can be crucial, especially when the pandemic shut down half of the nation’s small owned businesses! If your business was affected, don’t worry! There are ways to bounce back and come back stronger! Don’t worry, sis. It will be okay. Soon you will be back at work, gaining triple the clients you had before the pandemic hit.

4) Make a list of what you are thankful for. God will restore what you have lost and replace it with bigger and better things. The year isn’t over yet, and the best is only yet to come.

First, ask yourself this critical question: “Do I believe in myself enough that I can accomplish any and everything ?” If you answered yes, then you can survive anything that comes your way! Sometimes we have to take a few losses to gain wins. It’s all about balancing time and prioritizing our goals and dreams in this season. If you are a business owner that has been impacted by the disaster, don’t panic! It may seem hard and impossible at first, but with a little bit of guidance and encouragement, you will be back on your feet in no time. It’s going to take some time, commitment, a focused mind, and a robust mental mind as well to move forward.

You can survive anything. The key to a useful survival guide is to remain humble and focused. When you get distracted, the negativity will start to pour into your mind, heart, and soul. Don’t get discouraged during the holidays. Use all your energy to create a new business. If you lost your old company, create new content for your clients and potential clients. Continue to market and promote yourself and your brand to your target audience. Pop in on live videos on Facebook and Instagram to increase your visibility. Remember, you got this! Don’t allow this season to set you back. This can still be your year. Prepare yourself today for an infinite comeback!

5) Tap into your other gifts and hidden talents. We all think we only have one thing that we are good at, but we are all capable of so much more. Incorporate all of your gifts in your business operations. You may even shock yourself!

1) Create some fun ways that you can continue to market your brand online. If you owned a boutique at a physical store, consider opening up a boutique online. A lot of people have been shopping online during COVID-19, so what do you have to lose? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Your boutique might have lost its physical state, but you didn’t lose your marketing skills. Online stores such as Etsy, WordPress, or Wix are just some website platforms you can use for your online store. If you have some merchandise at home, you can sell them online as well. 2) Go through your email list. When you have a business or brand, valuable things are your loyal clients and your subscribers to your email list. Email marketing is so vital because if social media shuts down for good, how will you reach out to your clients or stay in contact? Go through your contact list and send out a mass email to keep your clients posted on the new changes within your business. 3) Create another side hustle. While you are still working out the kinks of your primary business, put those creative ideas to use. Cook up some new ideas on how you can make extra money during the holidays. It doesn’t have to be a depressing Thanksgiving. You got this, sis! And if you don’t know by now, you were born a strong warrior who can get through anything! When one business venture closes, another one will open in due time. So let this November be the best month you’ve had all year!

Outgrown! By: Michelle P. Jones

I was in a workshop, and the facilitator shared the importance of taking inventory of the people in our lives, those we are in a relationship or connection with. She advised that we ask ourselves these three basic questions: 1) Why are you in a relationship with them? Is the relationship meeting a need or benefiting you in some way? 2) What is the overall cost to you emotionally, mentally, physically, personally, and spiritually? Is the relationship taking more from you than it is giving to you? 3) Is the relationship bringing value to your life? Is it inspiring you to be better and do better? As a businesswoman, I am often reminded of the lessons I learned in my childhood and how those lessons have helped shape me into the woman I am today. I had the same best friend throughout elementary, middle, and high school, but somehow, we drifted apart after high school and have never rekindled that friendship. I sometimes think about the memories we made, the conversations we had, and the joy she brought into my life when I take a trip down memory lane. Those trips often remind me of the life lessons the friendship taught me that still influence my interactions, choices/decisions, and how I live today. Although we are no longer close friends, the foundation on which that friendship was built is an extension of the foundation I use to build my current relationships and connections. During one of those trips down memory lane, God taught me that people are in our lives for a moment, a season, or a lifetime. Our responsibility is to determine their expiration date to release them, learn the lesson they’re meant to teach, and embrace the memories we’ve shared. Often people leave our lives for various reasons, but the hardest reason for many of us to grasp or accept is when we have outgrown them. The purpose for their entrance into our lives has lost its importance because we are not the person we were when we met them, and the need that relationship met is no longer a need in our life. I am not suggesting you throw the relationship away. Instead, honor the fact that you have outgrown it and allow yourself to release its emotional attachment to your life. Take a minute to consider this fact: everyone you meet isn’t meant to travel life’s journey with you. She says that she takes inventory of her relationships and connections every six months. Anyone who isn’t adding value to her life does not belong in her life. She begins to gradually extract herself from their life while changing the context and construct of the relationship and connection. She admitted that it was a challenging but necessary process. Those necessary connections help us attain our goals, be who we say we want to be, and encourage us to live our purpose OUT LOUD and living color. This process forces us to become clear on what we want to produce in our lifetime, the legacy we want to leave, and the life we choose to live. That clarity forces us to become intentional about our relationships and our connections, making sure both help us live a life of integrity and character.

John Maxwell says, “…plan your growth intentionally. You decide where you need or want to grow, you choose what you will learn, and you follow through with disciplining yourself and going at the pace you set.” You decide how you show up in your business, for your family, and in life! In order to do that, you have to grow, which stands to reason that when you begin growing into who you are designed and purpose to be, you will outgrow those relationships and connections that are no longer traveling on the same path as you. Utilizing this mindset forces you to know who you are and what you want. For example, to be a millionaire, you have to think like a millionaire, and to think like a millionaire, you have to learn from millionaires. To learn from millionaires, you have to be where millionaires are. It is a process; you have to learn the key to their success and the tools they utilized to reach it. That investment of time and attention alone will pull you away from spending idle time just hanging out and having fun to intentionally building relationships and connections that will help you get to where you say you want to be.

Everyone is not going to understand, nor will they become your cheerleader. Some will feel left out or become jealous of the success you have already attained. It’s ok; it just means that they are not on your life track. Just like people and things die, allow your bad relationships to die! The mistake we make is trying to hold on for dear life to the relationship and connection, hoping they will see the value in what we are doing, learning, and becoming. However, they want it for themselves. You have to realize that it is not their life track and that you are pulling dead weight. By releasing the relationship, you give yourself permission to retain the memories and repurpose the lessons for future use. When you know yourself, you possess a strong sense of self; you are purpose-focused, purpose-driven, and continuously growing. You realize that your life is full and fulfilled, whether you have accomplished your goal of being a millionaire or not. It gives you the courage to keep striving while celebrating each accomplishment along the way. Yes, your circle has changed in substance, look, and even size, but it provides you with the support you need as you continue striving to attain your goals.

If you are honest with yourself, when you visualize yourself as a millionaire, those you have already outgrown but are holding onto for dear life aren’t present in your vision. That alone should give you the push you need to release them. Think of it this way. When milk has reached its identified expiration date, do you continue using it, or do you dispose of it? In the same way, you don’t use milk past its expiration date, we should not continue to hold on to relationships and connections we have outgrown past their expiration date.

ILife is too short to hold on to the past when the future is welcoming you to come and experience it. As much as I want to fit into the sizes of my youth, that isn’t my reality. However, I can take the confidence and the freedom I felt and experienced then into the size and the me I am today and rock it! But first, I have to let go of what I have outgrown and fully embrace and accept the me I am in order to become the me I desire to be! I Don't Know I don’t know how to leave... But I don’t want to stay... All the mirrors on the wall Show my bumps and bruises... Even my swollen black eye... When I go take out the trash to breathe for air... The verbal garbage that I hear every day creeps up... It’s not far away... The shouting and yelling It’s all a blur... In that moment I want to run... Run for miles and never come back... But if I run in this moment Will I be found...? It seems as if I’m paralyzed from the grip... But in reality I just don’t know if it its best to leave or Stay... But some day I will know... Or will I ever know... Time will tell... I don’t know...

Jessica Kemp Jessica Kemp is an up and coming children's author with her first book set to release November 2020. She was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario before moving to Toronto in 2012. A graduate of the Child and Youth Care program at Ryerson University, she worked many years in child care before pursuing her dream of becoming a writer. Most recently, she created her brand "The Jessi K Adventures" in which she discusses her upcoming book, as well as her life as mom and wife. Every children's book that Jessica releases will have a portion of the profits going towards a charity/organization. What inspired your start in writing? I have always loved books. I had a huge collection of books growing up and I would keep them in pretty good condition. In fact, I still have some books from my childhood that I have kept aside for my daughter. Growing up I would take every opportunity I could to write, but I never kept any of it, because I didn’t think anything I wrote was good enough. Back when I was in highschool I knew the odds of me becoming an author were very slim so I picked a profession, where at the very least, I could help people. I worked for years in the child care field and in 2019 when I had my daughter I realized that I wanted to be a role model for her. I wanted to show her that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. What in your opinion are the most important elements of good writing? Finding out where the gap is. Who isn’t being seen? Who isn’t being heard? If you don’t know ask around; do research and ask questions. When we talk to people we learn amazing things. There is so much of this world that we don’t know about. Also, I would say to write openly and honestly. Don’t pretend like you know something. If you don’t know or understand a topic, say that. Write about not knowing something and your path to finding out more. Personally, aside from those two points, I also love writing with an imagination which is why my dream is to become a well-known children’s author. You just recently released a new book, that’s a collaboration with other women what was that experience like? Yes I did ! “ We All Belong” published by Grace and Hope Consulting. I have to admit it was a lot less stressful then having to do everything myself. I was already deep into my adventures of publishing my solo book when I found out about this collaboration, so I really got to compare experiences. I got to meet some very wonderful and talented women who helped me along the way. I was also able to learn valuable lessons that helped me on this journey to becoming a writer. Collaborations aren’t just for new writers either, some of these ladies have written books already so it was nice to hear their experiences too. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind the book and your specific chapter? In a word, the inspiration is UNITY. 2020 has been the year to have difficult conversations; to explore and to learn about the world around us. Personally, I think the world needs a little reminder that we are all human however, there are many colours to the human race. Every colour is beautiful and every colour deserves to be treated fairly. On top of that, every colour deserves to be seen. It’s a beautiful thought to say “I don’t see colour” but when you say that you erase all these beautiful colours that were created. The world would be boring if we were all the same, so we should say instead “I see your colour, and your colour is just as valuable to this earth as mine”. I grew up having to respect others (even family members) when they would say hurtful or racist things and it took me turning 30 to realize that even though they are family these tough conversations need to be had. It’s not right for me to stand in silence because “that’s just how they are”. I need to speak up and say “this is hurtful to me and to others.” Where can readers purchase a copy? Books can be purchased directly from Amazon. The kindle and paperback versions are available on Amazon right now for pre-order. The book launches on Unity Day (October 21st 2020). You can also purchase a book directly from any of the authors and have them sign it ! We are having a launch party on Facebook (October 21st 2020) and you can catch it here : https://www.facebook.com/Inclusion-Begins-With-I-395411747896199

You also have your first solo book coming out, can you tell us about that? Oh I would too! I am so excited about this! I wrote this book while working in child care and seeing “my kids” get upset when their parents had to travel for work absolutely broke my heart. I wanted to write something to tell them that they are not alone. I wanted them to understand that what they are feeling is normal and that all these different types of families were normal. Just because they look different, or their family looks different then others around them that doesn’t mean that they are alone. I wanted them to know that they are loved by many and that they can get through the day with a little help from others. “Never Too Far Away” comes out November 14th 2020 available on Amazon or directly through me by messaging me on social media. What do you hope readers take away from your work? I have big goals for all my books, especially this one. I want kids to feel like they see themselves being portrayed in my books. I want to show different skin colours, body type, abilities etc. I want my books to showcase different families and teach children to love people regardless of what they look like. I want them to understand that families are different and that’s a good thing. Differences are beautiful! If any kid feels like they aren’t represented or seen in books I want them to reach out so that I can make that change for them! We need to shine a light on all kids, all people and all families. We are all beautiful and we are all important! I also plan on donating a portion of my profits from this book to The Rainbow Klub in Sault Ste Marie Ontario Canada. They are a safe space for 2SLGBTTIQ+ youth and allies and they are at risk of losing their space because of lack of funding. The covid-19 pandemic hit them hard and made things especially more difficult. The founder Katrina, has worked tirelessly every day to make sure these kids had somewhere to turn to. They are trying to get more donations and sponsors, so I hope my book can shine a light on this amazing person and this amazing Klub!
