NATURAL BALANCE

With the combination of the stack effect and Geo-cooling, the interior of the building is able to regulate its air naturally. The HVAC system is broken into two parts to efficiently work together with the natural systems

PRIORITIZING EXPERIENCE Studying the community, the conditions, and local hot-spots, the site showed to be fractured by heavy traffic, asphalt and new construction of apartments. The concept of the station is to engage the street level in multiple layers vertically that is then sculpted by movement and flow.

GIVING BACK The surrounding area is covered by concrete and asphalt, surrounded by heavy traffic. King Memorial Station breaks down the levels of circulation and creates moments of green space for the surrounding community to use as a park and rest stop, but is able to maintain a visible connection to the surrounding activities and circulation.

CASE STUDY


ITS IN THE DETAILS Using modern technics, the chapel does not offend the surrounding context of the village but uses traditional materials to connect old and new architecture as one. The inside is minimalistic with light pouring inside from the windows placed at the base of the roof, which creates a sens of bathing of light that breathes with the changing of day.

PRE FABRICATED MODULES

On top of a peak along a rough hiking path, the construction took a small man team and helicopter to fly in prefabricated materials and supplies. With high winds and rough terrain, the minimalistic shelter provides safety from the elements with the purpose of the architecture not to be the element of observation, but to be a tool that brings the travelers observation to the
