Moving from the city to countryside changed up my exercise routine in ways I didn’t expect, aside from trying to get in a run before it gets dark at 3pm in the winter, the increased amount of off-road trails meant it was time to switch out my road runners for something a bit more appropriate. The Wildcross trail shoes were much more suitable, available in Meadowbrook / Black / North Atlantic, Black and the India Ink / Wine Tasting / Black version I got the pleasure of testing. These rugged shoes feature chunky multi-directional lugs for solid grip on muddy and wet terrain, whilst the SensiFit shape cradles the foot all the way from the midsole to the lacing system, keeping a secure fit for a precise fit all the way around the foot. This secure foundation lets you confidently push yourself further and rack up the speed without the fear of slipping or sliding. The optimized drop and stack height add to the steadiness, with the 8mm drop and reduced amount of cushioning keeping your foot close to the ground, letting you feel the surface beneath your feet. The full rubber Contagrip TA outsole has the right amount of flex for a natural feel and have been built for maximum grip on loose, soft, rugged, and uneven surfaces. DreamTex wings and water-repellent TUP mesh keeps your feet dry when running through wet grass while letting them breathe from the inside. The toe box is roomy enough for a natural spread of the toes, the quick lace system means you just need to slide your foot in, pull on the toggle and off you go, giving you less time to find a reason to stay at home, the excess lace can be stored in the handy pocket on the tongue. Weighing 290g these tough shoes are suitable for both training and race days or muddy, soft and technical terrains. It is hard to find fault with these shoes, the sharp lugs saw me safely across waterlogged fields and uneven footpaths, the fit was comfortable and precise straight out of the box and my socks were dry when I got home.
