CONTENTS Hi everyone! Phew, we have finally left the clutches of January, was it just me or was there at least two extra weeks this year? Either way we are now well and truly in February, that means that not only is pancake day on the horizon but also Valentine’s Day for those that have forgtten. It is also the perfect month to double down on those new hobbies and healthy changes you put in place after Christmas. We have plenty of sporty bits to keep you motivated and moving in these cooler months, including a highend tennis racket from Babolat, a compression top from Compressport, some comfortable hiking boots from Salomon and some bone conductivity running headphones from Nank. To keep things toasty, we have a wonderful heated hoody, we have a couple of robots for the kids and stem enthusiasts and a BBQ, kettle and grater for the foodies. There’s plenty more to get your teeth into in amongst these pages, so settle down and get ready to be inspired, maybe with a plate of pancakes and box of chocolate hearts to boot. Editor and chief

Stubble and Co Roll Top It’s not often you get backpacks designed for cycling. Most of the time backpacks are designed to be a catch-all thing with little mind given to what you’re doing with them other than just having them on your back! And sorting all your stuff securely of course. Which is something this Roll Top backpack from Stubble and Co manages to achieve admirably. Firstly, it has a padded laptop compartment that settles on your back to ensure your essential electronics stay dry and safe and the back panel itself is designed to be breathable and cushioned so you won’t be getting jabbed in the back as you travel or feel like you’re cycling with a plank of wood supporting you! It has external, elasticated pockets on both sides for water bottles or anything else you may need quick access to and the inside pockets are compartmentalised with their own zips. As well as this, there are pockets for stationery such as pens and notebooks so no need to rummage around inside the 20L capacity interior to get what you’re after. There is also a top grab handle for added convenience. As is to be expected for a rucksack like this, the material is fully waterproof while the zips are water resistant and the seems are also waterproof, making sure the contents stay dry. The top of the rucksack is designed to be rolled down, near enough removing any possibility of rain entering through the top and it then clips shut with a G-Hook that keeps it secure while you’re travelling. To help with visibility, especially when cycling, the trim is reflective and there is also a bike light anchor for added safety. All-in-all, a multi-functional bag ideally suited for those travelling by bike and likely to get caught out in inclement weather.
A well-made and designed bag constructed with vegan-friendly and recycled material.
Can’t go much wrong with this! For more information on the Stubble and Co Roll Top click here

Babolat Pure Aero Rafa Origin
It’s not quite tennis weather yet (in fact, while I’m writing this, we’ve got pretty high winds and horrible rain!) but why not plan ahead for when the weather has calmed down a bit and you can get back out on that court? Babolat have pretty much been around since the beginning of Tennis, coming up with the first natural guts strings for racquets a short while after the rules as we know them were devised for lawn tennis (almost 150 years ago!) so it’s safe to say that they’ve got a pretty good idea with what they’re doing – and they dropped the gut strings a while back! They only started making actual racquet frames about 30 years ago but the player that helped with the design of this racquet has been using Babolat racquets and strings for his whole career (Rafael Nadal in case you didn’t guess from the name!) and it focuses on those things that gave him such a lasting legacy. The design features a more widely-spaced string pattern than you get on many racquet designs and is combined with a stiff, head-heavy frame that creates more tension in the strings, offering the hard-hitting kind of stroke that Nadal is famed for and allowing you to keep your opponent at the back of the court with a little less effort than normal. As well as this, the stability of the head gives you more freedom to work with the ball and the Woofer System design of the strings keeps the ball in contact with the strings for longer allowing you to get more spin where you need it. It all leads to a satisfying thwack sending the ball back to your opponent exactly how you want it to get there. It’s not quite as heavy as you may expect from the head-heavy frame too at 317 grams so still giving you that reassuring heft in your hand without tiring you out too quickly.
A racquet made by Babolat with the help of a certain Rafael Nadal. How could it go wrong?
Pros Designed with the help of one of the sports’ best players of all-time
Babolat have been doing tennis for over a century
– if that doesn’t reassure you… Able to get good spin with relative ease
Power shots are easier to achieve
Cons
£289.99
Designed for quite a specific playstyle so will not suit all players.

You don’t often see kids headphones without some kind headphones together via cable meaning you can either of garish colour scheme that offends our adult eyeballs share in watching a movie with them or, if you have 2 or so straight away, these headphones are a winner for me! more children, they can watch together – great for long This one is the green one but also available are yellow, journeys in the car without distracting you while driving. blue and pink, all of them in a pleasing toned-down pastel They have also been designed for rough and tumble play tone rather than overly-bright colours. Yes, I know that’s with an adjustable head strap ensuring a snug fit and fairly the adult in me speaking but the kid in me is instantly lightweight at just over 140g’s. They connect via Bluetooth thinking “They’re called Gecko and have a scaly texture to 5.0 and have a decent range of about 40 metres, ideal for them – when I put these on, I’m an awesome wall-climbing playing in the garden without needing to move your music lizard!” Which is where Pogs have hit a good compromise system outside too. in my opinion, they appeal to both adults and kids! The price is very reasonable and, given their ruggedness From a performance perspective they are limited to 85 dB’s and the fact the head strap can be adjusted as they grow, to help protect your children’s hearing and have a good your kids should get plenty of use out of these before they battery life of up to 12 hours with a 2 hour charging time decide to do the inevitable and start on insisting on more for a full battery. The ear cushions are noise cancelling ‘grown-up’ headphones. so less need to have that volume up to max (although try telling your kid that – hence the dB cap!) and there is an integrated microphone if needed. Pros Ideal for kids Sharing option allows multiple headsets to listen to the same sound source

Compressport 3D Thermo Half Zip Top This latest offering from Compressport is ideal for those keep-fit fanatics brave enough to venture out in the kind of weather we usually experience at this time of year. Personally, not for me, I’d rather use indoor fitness routines but for some, nothing quite beats being outdoors, even if it is cold and horrible! So, just for you guys, here is the 3D Thermo Half zip Top. It’s thicker than most of the offerings from Compressport and weighs in at a (still light bear in mind!) 140g’s, giving you an idea of how much ‘chunkier’ it is than most of their range. The long sleeves obviously help as far as staying warm is concerned but the thing that really helps is the thermoregulation brought about by the way the microfibres are weaved together. In simple terms, a layer of air is trapped between the material and your skin leading to what is, in effect, an extra layer of insulation. Because it’s trapped, it’s not subject to the warmth stealing capabilities of the air and so helps to keep your core body temperature regulated and comfortable. The design of this top also contributes to its thermal abilities with large material panels and very little stitching so that there are less points where heat could potentially be lost. And the placing of the stitching vastly reduces potential itching and rucking points. Built in is an extra-high collar, useful for when the wind really picks up or for especially cold days and in contrast to this, you also have the half-zip for when the going gets a little too warm. It’s worth noting that this top is designed to be a base-layer and worn underneath other items of clothing unless it’s a little more mild in your area, lucky you! Finally, the sleeves also provide localised compression for extra support on your arm muscles.
A baselayer thermoregulating top ideal for when you want to exercise in colder weather.
Pros Sweat wicking keeps you dry Good thermoregulation Helps with your posture due to the knit in the back
Easy to cool down quickly with the half-zip Cons Probably of less use in warmer weather

The lack of needing to pay for a subscription service to make use of this comprehensive security system is a massive plus to me – Pay once, all done!
Netatmo Smart Alarm System with Camera Most alarm systems/cameras are pretty much all-in-one which is not a bad thing – 1 unit, all things catered for and usually easy to install. The problem with this is that the coverage is quite limited and if you want to cover more than one area of your home, you need to buy multiple items and the cost gradually wracks up just for peace of mind. This system from Netatmo aims to address that by providing enough units to cover multiple areas in your home in one convenient package. You get one camera with a wide 130° field of view and 1080p resolution. It also comes with infrared night vision that is good up to 5 metres in total darkness. It can fit a micro-SD card with up to 32GB storage (you get an 8GB card provided) and you have a choice of connecting via ethernet or Wifi. This last one is a good point for me – the fact that you have the choice as to how you set it up which you don’t often get with security systems. Another plus worth pointing out is the fact that there is no need to sign up for a subscription. You pay the cost up front and that’s it, something sadly lacking in the majority of security cameras these days. As well as the camera, you get an alarm siren with a 110dB level that has pre-recorded sounds that simulate real people to help deter intruders and vibration sensors to detect unwanted tampering and you also get 3 door and window sensors that detect vibrations and whether the doors and windows are open or closed. The sensors link up with the camera via radio signal so can operate even if the Wifi goes down and the alarm connects via Bluetooth so the same problem is avoided there.
Pros
£319.99
No subscription required
Devices connect without Wifi in case it gets disconnected
Camera has localised storage
Camera can have up to 12 sensors connected to it. Cons Large initial layout cost-wise For more information on the Netatmo Smart Alarm System with Camera click here

Moonbird It is well documented that regulating your breathing can help your wellbeing in all manner of ways – from better sleeping habits to calming yourself down or just feeling more relaxed, simple breathing exercises can go a long way to helping you out. However, it’s not always easy to get your concentration focused in the right way to benefit from them. Moonbird is an aide to doing exactly this. And, rather than relying on verbal or visual cues, this is a physical object that you hold in your hand that ‘breathes’ when you switch it on by placing your thumb over the switch. When it expands, you breathe in and when it contracts, you breathe out. A simple, tactile way to establish your breathing pattern that can allow you to focus without being distracted. You can use it as many times a day as you like – there’s no limit, but they do recommend starting with 2 or 3 sessions a day, each one lasting about 4-6 minutes just so you get used to using the tool. After that, you can use it whenever you feel the need to use it and you don’t even have to use the app that they provide. Although it does give a whole load of extra to the Moonbird. For instance, you can choose your own breathing exercise or rhythm that best suits you and also get to see real-time info such as your heart rate and heart rate variability and then adjust accordingly. You can also access historic data in the form of statistics so you can see how much of an impact the Moonbird is actually having. And, for those who prefer an audio experience, there are in-app guides on Stress, HRV, Anxiety and insomnia. The fact that you can use the Moonbird just as it is without the app is a great move in my opinion. I don’t know about you but the very act of checking my stats to see how I have improved is likely the sort of thing that is going to get me stressed in the first place! So, I welcome this feature.
Pros
Comes with a storage pouch for when not in use Option to go detailed with stats or keep it simple Free app Very easy to use Cons Expensive but you do get a 30 day money back guarantee
£159
A tactile device that seems to help improve your breathing and regulation of breathing that is very easy to use. Many could find this beneficial in everyday life. For more information on Moonbird click here

Troubadour Tech Kit With so much in the way of technology being an everyday part of all our lives these days and despite wireless tech becoming more prevalent, most of us generally have a small bundle of gear we’re having to carry around with us just to be able to operate on a day-to-day basis! And most of us have only got so many pockets so it’s quite easy for everything to get all caught up and mixed together, leading to all sorts of annoyances. Well, Troubadour have come up with this solution for all your loose bits of tech gear in the form of their Tech Kit. Internally you have 3 elasticated pockets and 3 elastic straps for larger items such as earpod cases or bundles of charging cable. The elastic has a pretty good level of tightness to it so you can be safe in the knowledge that most things in there are going to stay put. I like the fact that they’ve included a small strap to store a pen – always handy to have one of those about, you never know when you have to go all ‘anologue’ and back to basics! Yes, there’s room to fit a small notepad, just in case you were wondering what the point of a pen without paper is… Externally, there is a pocket that seals with a magnet for easy access that covers the width of the bag. The bag is made with vegan-friendly, waterproof fake leather with a waterproof internal lining and the rest is made using recycled polyester fabric and lining so the environmental impact is pretty low too. The bag also opens up completely so you can lay it flat and easily get to whatever it is you need. The total capacity is 1.5 Litres and you can even comfortably fit a mouse in there (your PC one, please don’t put a real mouse in the bag!), giving this bag a good level of ubiquity with plenty of storage options.

A handy way to keep all your technological paraphernalia in one convenient place and be transportable.
£55 Pros Elasticated straps Decent storage capacity Easy-access external pocket Vegan-friendly Cons A small elasticated handle on the outside would have made this easier to carry around, on your wrist for example, freeing your hands up.

Topdon BT100W
As myself and my partner found out recently, a worn-out battery in a car is no easy thing to deal with! Cost us a fortune in charging up the jumpstarting kit all the time and when we finally got it to the garage to change it, that cost us quite a bit too. All-in-all, if we’d had an inkling it was going to be that much of a nightmare to sort out, we wouldn’t have left it so long and we could have done things to extend the life of the battery, which is where this little gadget from Topdon earns its pay. You simply connect this device to your car battery using the clamps provided and away you go. The BT100W has access to a vast battery library so the chances are that you’ll be able to find your particular battery in the first place and then you can start running tests. You have the simple battery test, a cranking test and a charging test available to you but the handy thing with using this battery tester is the app. Once you have access to this, a whole world of analytical tools are at your fingertips allowing enhanced data analysis and giving you the ability to generate test reports that can be held in a folder so you can access historical data and get a real picture of your battery’s journey and when it’s starting to get too old. The screen on the tester itself is perfectly adequate for telling you what you need to know but, perhaps unsurprisingly, the app is much more user-friendly and it’s safe to say the BT100W, while perfectly operable on its own, definitely improves when you get the app. There are 8 different languages available on the tester itself and this increases to 9 when making use of it (Chinese being the additional one with the other languages being mostly European but Russian and Japanese are in there too).
Pros Easily accessible historical info The accompanying app Easy to use £55.20 Inexpensive Cons None – does exactly what it says on the tin! A relatively inexpensive battery tester/ analytical tool that could help save you some money in the long-term, especially useful for those that rely on driving a lot in their jobs.

Elitone
Unfortunately, one of those things that is almost inevitable with getting older is the fact that your pelvis muscles weaken with age and without regular exercise. This of course leads to awkward and embarrassing leakage as soon as your body decides to do something unexpected such as sneeze or when exercising. Doing the right exercises can help with this but not everyone has the time or energy to do so and it’s not always easy to get the type of exercise you need to do correct. This is where Elitone can step in and provide some welcome peace of mind for ladies with incontinence issues. Elitone works by sending a small electrical signal to the muscles and nerves of your pelvic floor. You attach some gel pads to your skin around the pubic area which in turn are wired up to the controller. This can then be hooked on to the waistline of your underwear or legwear and set to the intensity that works best for you. It then does the treatment for 20 minutes while you do whatever it is you are doing and switches itself off. The basic kit comes with enough gel pads to treat you for up to 6 weeks with 1 treatment per day and this is enough, they claim, to significantly improve any leakage problems caused by incontinence. After the initial 6 weeks, they recommend continuing treatment for a couple of times a week although some people find they don’t even need that. Over several clinical trials there was a 72% reduction in leaks and 85% people used less pads after treatment and, on average, the participants had suffered with incontinence for 10 years. To top it off, they offer a full money-back guarantee within 60 days if it doesn’t work. When you compare this to the other alternatives out there, it’s hard to see why you wouldn’t at least give it a go.
For more information on the Elitone click here

Pros
Easy to use Discrete Full money-back guarantee Non-invasive Cons Expensive
It may be pricey, but if it works to end a reliance on pads and worry of embarrassing moments in public, isn’t it worth a try?

Salomon Elixir Mid GTX
Everyone knows that if you’re going to go off hiking, you’re going to need the right shoes (a lesson learnt hard by this reviewer back in my youth!), especially if the terrain you’re hitting is varied and rugged. One wrongly placed foot or slip and you could do yourself an injury as well as the ever-present problem of blisters with longer-range hikes. These shoes from Salomon have been designed with comfort and flexibility in mind and are ideal for those 1-day hikes when you just want to get a bit closer to nature. To begin with, the tongue and collar have extra padding so less shifting about of your feet in the boots themselves with a nice, snug fit. This gives you more confidence in foot placement and also helps to cut down on the blisters. Added to this, the mid-sole is constructed from Energy Foam, giving some nice cushioning to your steps and making longer periods of walking far more attainable and appealing. The material used in the construction of these shoes has been subjected to the Gore-Tex charm and also contains a waterproof membrane allowing you to keep your feet comfortable and dry no matter the conditions – seemingly quite contrarily to their look! The tread is decent at 5mm depth – enough to grip on soft terrain but not so high you lose any kind of feeling of contact with the ground so you can still ‘feel’ the ground beneath you despite the cushioning effect mentioned earlier. It’s also worth mentioning the Sensi-Fit™ design of the entire shoe which basically ensures the whole foot is cradled in what feels like a moulded one-piece bit of footwear, making these shoes one of the most solid and dependable pairs you’ll find out there for hiking. They come in a choice of 3 different colours, black, green or white.
A great pair of hiking boots designed for maximum comfort, ideal for those that like to spend their days walking and enjoying nature.
Pros Great cushioning Nice, secure fit Waterproof Look good Cons Pricey if you don’t use them for what they’re intended but worth every penny if you do!

Epomaker Shadow X Keyboards these days are becoming almost as distinctive and unique as their users! This simply-laid out, stylish keyboard from Epomaker is no different in that respect and has been created with a firm view on style with its clearcut keys and colour placement making for a visually pleasing keyboard in the first instance. Of course, it’s not always about style but performance too. The Shadow X is a gasket-mount mechanical keyboard built with comfort in mind. The keys have a Poron PCB foam layer that help dampen the ‘clacking’ noise. Poron is an open-pore foam so is much better at absorbing sound and kinetic impact than the more common PE foam that you tend to see on other keyboards making for a smooth feel and muted sound as you type which amounts to less fatigue if you’re typing for long periods of time. Speaking of long periods of time, the battery is good for about 3 days before it needs recharging so you can happily move it around without worrying about charging cables and you have 3 modes of connection – Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4 Ghz or you can just wire it up if you don’t need to be mobile. The knob in the upper right can be used for all manner of things ranging from volume control to scrolling your page up and down to zooming in and out whenever you need to. Further down from the knob you have the 1.06” display screen, giving you important setting information at a glance such as whether you have caps or number lock on or off, battery level and the time/date. The keyboard itself is set up in the ANSI format so if you’re more used to the ISO style of keyboard, this may irk you a little but there’s really not much difference between the two and will take hardly any adaptation to be able to use this with no problems.
£85.99

Sodastream Terra
They say that nostalgia is the next big marketing thing and an easy way for a company to make money. I don’t disagree but sometimes there are some things that should never have gone away in the first place and Sodastream is definitely one of them! This latest version of the fizzy drinks machine is a much slicker design than we saw back in the 80’s, more suited to modern tastes and styles. Of course technology has its part to play in this too with better designed and more compact CO2 cannisters so that the unit itself doesn’t take up too much space on the counter or end up being too over-bearing on your work surface. For those still wondering what this actually is, you basically put water in the bottle, plus any flavours you may wish to add (lemon juice for example), click it in to place and press and hold the carbonating button. One brief push later and you have carbonated water! Easy. As well as your own flavouring, there are also a range of syrups available for well-known and popular sparkling drinks such as Pepsi and 7Up, and Sodastream have their own flavours you can purchase too such as ginger ale, tonic water and more fruity flavours such as orange and crisp apple.
The huge advantage of this system is the ease with which you can make sparkling drinks and the fact that kids can use it with ease too, allowing parents to provide carbonated drinks without having to spend a fortune on cans or use up storage space. You can just use squash if you wish or come up with your own flavours using fresh fruit and have much more control over things such as sugar levels or to avoid artificial flavourings. It really can end up being a great money saver and a way to enjoy making your own style of drink. Wonder if the sparkling wine option is any good.
Pros Quick and easy to use Quick Connect for the CO2 cylinder Bottles provided are dishwasher safe (1L and 0.5L) Cordless Cons Not many different flavours available yet – maybe this will grow.

Tracklements Special Edition Chimichurri Chilli Relish The latest addition to the Tracklements range of artisan condiments is the NEW Special Edition Chimichurri Chilli Relish. A popular, green sauce originating from Argentina and Uruguay, this is a veritable flavour fiesta of coriander, oregano, parsley, garlic and lemon juice. And as if that’s not enough, Bird’s Eye Chillies are slipped in to get the party started on pretty much everything this cheeky relish touches. Traditionalists may say it should be reserved for complementing the richness of churrasco - grilled or barbecued meat - but, in our opinion, it deserves a seat at any table.

Godox WEC If you’re producing online content (which seems to be what most people are doing these days!) or you’re a media student or even a professional just doing their job, a decent microphone is absolutely essential. Very rarely do we get a built-in microphone that does the job as well as a dedicated piece of tech and so we go to things like this mic set from Godox. The first thing that struck me about this set was the weight. The transmitters weigh a mere 12g each and the receiver is just 16g making them feel like they’re hardly there when wearing them, a huge bonus for the users as you can almost forget they are there and just let them do their thing! They also sit quite snugly in the charging case making them ultra-portable too (rocking in at just 124g combined weight), easily slipping in to a pocket when travelling to your chosen filming site. Speaking of the charging case, it’s good for 2 recharges before it needs recharging itself, giving you a total of 24 hours use before you’ll need to completely recharge. The range of the microphones is a good 200 metres, giving you plenty of scope for wide-angle or long-distance shots without compromising on audio. That’s another thing this set has going for it actually – intelligent noise cancellation. Overall, this helps reduce the amount of time you’ll need to spend in editing as much of the unwanted sound from recording outdoors will already be screened out. You also have a one-touch option of setting the transmitters as mono or stereo, giving you the flexibility you need to get the sound just right for your project. Pairing of the devices is just a matter of pressing the buttons when you take them out of the charging case and the receiver plugs in to the audio jack of whatever device you’re using to film. Easy.
A relatively inexpensive piece of kit that is going to make the audio on your recordings so much better with minimal effort.
£99
Pros Great range In-built noise-cancelling as well as furry windscreens! Very easy to use Really good value for money Cons 200 metres range relies on line of sight – varying topography could break up the signal at longer ranges

Isotunes UltraComm The main problem with wearing hearing protectors in a loud environment is that they are usually large and bulky on your head and when moving around can be rather inconvenient, especially if moving around in a tight environment where the tendency is to knock them loose or restrict your head movement, not to mention they can sometimes be a little too good at blocking out noise, leaving you unable to detect essential sounds and possibly compromising your safety as a result. Isotunes latest offering does away with these problems as these Bluetooth-enabled bad boys are in-ear! No more big, bulky headsets for you, time for a more streamlined hearing protector. The sound that gets through to your ears is capped at 82dB’s max but you can adjust the amplification level to suit your needs meaning you’re still able to hear everything around you, just at a lower volume. In this respect it works in a similar way to a hearing aid, transferring outside noises to your ear at a volume that works for you and, with a transference speed of just 2 milliseconds, there is no noticeable lag. As well as this, if the noise level reaches 85dB’s or higher, the protectors just block it out, ensuring your hearing safety. The battery life is good at about 10 hours and the charging case is good for 2 full charges before it needs recharging itself and you get 6 ear-bud tips included in the box. Fairly standard stuff but you also get a removable boom-mic that stores neatly in the charging case so you can ensure your voice is clearly heard when making calls. It does reduce the IP rating to 56 from 67 when in use but this should hardly be a problem for the short period of time you’re likely to be using it.
A great, discrete set of ear protectors that do the job they’re designed for and do it well.
£239.99
Pros Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity Decent battery life Certified 30 dB SNR Both Siri and Google Voice compatible Cons If you prefer big, chunky hearing protectors, these probably cost more than you’d be willing to pay

RiutBag X35 If you travel on a regular basis, you have most likely got multiple bags depending on how long you’re going to be travelling for – small for a weekend, larger for a week or more and so on. Of course, the disadvantage to this is the amount of space they take up in storage, picking the right one and then having to transfer all your gear from one to another whenever you swap. So, the RiutBag X35 aims to do away with all this by having a design that is able to expand or shrink the size of the bag dependant on your needs. It achieves this through a series of clips and fasteners that allow you to move the capacity from 35 Litres to 15 and a well-designed folding structure that keeps it looking neat and trim, no matter the sixe you’re currently using. No matter the capacity you’re using, you have full access to all the separate pockets and compartments, including a padded laptop compartment that can fit a laptop or tablet up to 15.6” long. While incredibly versatile, the one thing I really like about this bag is the fact that all the zips and access are actually facing your back, leaving a completely inaccessible view to anyone behind you, making it almost impossible for someone to take something without you noticing. Plus, with a little bit of weight, you can easily access the important sections while still wearing the backpack with a little bit of practice. For those using this at max capacity, there is also a waist belt available separately that you can attach using the clips to help with weight distribution as well as a chest strap to make carrying it less stressful for your shoulders. All of this, plus, it easily fits in with most size restrictions for hand-luggage when travelling by plane.
Pros No access point for anyone other than yourself
Well padded laptop section
Bright interior and mesh compartments make finding things easy
Easy to increase/ decrease size to suit
Cons A few colour options would have been nice
£159
Ideal for those who travel on a regular basis and for indeterminate periods of time.
Also good for those of us who always seem to end up bringing more back than we left with. For more information on the RiutBag X35 click here

Olight Baton 4 Premium Edition
With handheld torches getting smaller yet more powerful all the time, it was kind of an inevitability that something like this would develop over time! What you see here is a torch about the size of your thumb that is capable of knocking out a chunky 1300 lumens when needed with a maximum range of about 170 metres which, by itself, is pretty impressive. But it’s the thought that has gone in to this micro-torch from Olight that really makes it stand out. For starters, a torch this size would normally get lost really easily so it comes with its own sturdy carry case, about the size of a large lighter (and it certainly seems to be designed to mimic a lighter – appropriate really, seeing as, well, you’re getting a light out of it…). But it’s no ordinary carry case of course, you can still operate the torch while it is in the case and docked in. You can still see the LED display showing the current brightness level on the torch and the case display shows how much charge the case still has. The LED display on the case also doubles up as the power and dimming button, keeping things nice and simple with no clutter. The 1300 lumen output only lasts for about a minute and a half but you’re unlikely to need it for much longer than that in one continuous burst. At its lowest setting of half a lumen, you’ll get 30 days-worth of use and the charging case has enough juice in it to charge up the torch 5 times and it only takes about an hour. The charging case takes about 2.5 hours to charge up so you can confidently get it all done before you leave on your adventure and not worry about running out before you’re home. In fact, you can even charge other devices from it using the USB-C portal so it happily doubles up as a multi-device charging case too, solving another potential problem!
A very compact, well-thought out torch and carry/charging case, ideal for those out in the wild and wanting to cut down on luggage.
Pros Carry case can be used to charge other devices Torch itself has a magnetic base for hands-free use IPX8 waterproof rated Very intuitive status indicator Cons Even in the carry case, it could still be difficult to find in the dark

iHood All area heating system 3.0 Remember Back to the Future II™? When Marty McFly ended up in the water and his self-drying jacket dried him off in a few seconds? Well, this isn’t quite that, but we’re close! Sort of. I mean, I wouldn’t recommend going for a dunk in this jacket (seriously, not a good idea!) and expecting it to warm you up afterwards but if it’s cold outside, this thing should keep the shivers away. Alright, it’s nothing like the movie coat but I bet I’m not the only one that though of it as soon as you saw this thing!
is conveniently situated on the left chest and 3 separate buttons control each of the 3 different areas for heating. A 3 second press turns each element on and off and, once switched on, a touch adjusts the heat from low-mediumhigh (roughly 50/60/70° respectively). The switch panel changes colour depending on the setting but you can switch off the lighted function should you so wish or need.
Not only is this jacket heated, it’s also waterproof in light or moderate rain and even machine-washable! Just don’t There are 6 different heating elements – 2 in the front at tumble-dry it, it won’t last long… The battery is good for waist height, 3 on the back (2 lower back, 1 upper) and 1 7 hours at the lowest setting with all elements active and on the neck and, at the highest setting, the temperature about 3.5 hours at the highest, giving you plenty of cozycan reach a toasty 70°C which should be good enough for warm time for most uses. It also looks pretty good to be most of the winter weather we get here in the UK, not to fair – you certainly won’t feel like a ridiculous Michelinmention things like skiing holidays. The switch panel Man while wearing it!

Pros Easy to use
Adjustable temperatures Separate controls for each heating area

Novo Mantis T3 Carbon Fibre Mini Travel Tripod
As any decent photographer or film-maker will tell you, a good tripod is essential for getting those scenic shots. The ability to set up anywhere, on any terrain and have maximum adaptability for the legs so you get the right, continuous angle is essential and not to be underestimated. This tripod from Novo Mantis aims to do all of that and provide flexibility for whatever surface you’re mounting your tripod on. The legs themselves are made of carbon fibre, giving you that lightness yet strength essential for when you’re lugging all your equipment all over the place. It comes in at 500g which is pretty light considering the fact that it can happily support 10 times more than that once you have it all set up. It also comes with a handy little soft carry case for it, even though the aviation grade aluminium it’s made from is anodised and scratch resistant. The legs are extendable (as you would expect!) and only require a quarter turn to release and tighten via rubber twist locks so, nice and quick, letting you get on with the work at hand in as little time as possible. The feet come ready to go with rubber, ball like feet but these can be removed to reveal spikes, giving you the option for sturdiness in soft ground. You can also fit hooves or larger spikes on the end of the legs as well if needed.
The top of the tripod legs can accommodate both ¼” and 3/8” threads and the MBH-25 Ball Head is fully adjustable to suit whatever angle you’re aiming for so, as long as your kit doesn’t weigh more than 5 Kg’s, it should be pretty solid with minimum effort. It also comes with a 5 year guarantee and other compatible accessories are available to purchase separately.
A well-made, strong yet light tripod, suitable for the vast majority of cameras out there.
£114.90 Pros Lightweight Quick and easy to set up Adaptable ¼” and 3/8” compatible Cons Some feet options beyond rubber and spike would have been nice to be included. For more information on the Novo Mantis T3 Carbon Fibre Mini Travel Tripod click here

Nanobebe Ultimate Newborn Baby Bottle Feeding Set There are so many things to get when you have a baby on the way – even more so if it’s your first one and you decide to go for bottle-fed. The bottles themselves, the teats, sterilisers, it can all seem a little over-whelming! Well, this kit provides almost everything you’re going to need in one convenient package, right down to bottle cleaning brushes. It’s pretty comprehensive: 2 breast milk bottles, 2 silicone bottles, 6 teats (4 slow-flow, 2 medium-flow), 2 breast pump adaptors, a drying rack, a non-electric bottle warming bowl and a microwave steam-steriliser and that’s not even everything, I just got bored writing a really long sentence! It’s all made out of baby-safe materials and is free from anything that could possibly cause health problems. Speaking from experience (having helped in the raising of a few children myself) the thing that really sold it for me are the bottle brush and the drying rack! So many times, a simple rinse just wouldn’t do it (would’ve killed for a decent bottle brush!) and trying to balance bottles on your normal drying rack is a nightmare – they never properly empty, leaving horrible watermarks and forcing a re-wash. So, anything to make life a little easier and that’s exactly what this kit does. The two types of feeding bottle are worth mentioning here. The breast milk bottles are moulded to simulate breasts, making that transition from breast to bottle hopefully a little easier and the teats for both bottle types are triple-vented to help provide a more natural feeding style for the baby. The other 2 bottles are of differing sizes so you can increase the feeding levels as time goes by and baby’s appetite increases. Oh, you also get 2 dummies in the set also, allowing you to keep baby happy when they’ve had enough and don’t know it!
A fully comprehensive baby bottle feeding and cleaning set. Absolute bargain.

KAI: The Artificial Intelligence Robot
In living memory, having a robot in the home that would respond to your commands was the stuff of sci-fi and, as far as some were concerned, lay firmly in the realms of make-believe. Granted, this thing isn’t going to be doing your household chores any time soon but we’ve got to start somewhere! And where better than as an affordable, educational tool? Imagine, as a kid, being able to ‘build-your-own’ robot that you can then program, how can that not be awesome?! That’s exactly what this is. It comes in more than 100 pieces and forms a 6-legged robot with an LED ‘face’ that can swivel 360° at its waist to face whatever direction is needed. The building instructions are very clear and the actual act of building the robot really cements the mechanics behind the machine and is a great educational tool in and of itself – just be sure to supervise younger children (they recommend 10 years as the minimum age) due to electronic components and smaller parts. There is also a short comic in the manual that can really help to engage and fire up those imaginations. Once built, you can start training the AI via the KAI Robotics app. You can’t train it without this app so you’ll need to make sure you have a compatible device before you start – a checklist is provided via a QR code (p57 on the pdf manual so you can check before buying). The manual also has short history bytes about AI and it’s development and even a manual way to learn how AI learning works – giving a simple, easy to understand logic behind what is happening that any child should be able to pick up. It's not going to do their homework for them or wash the dishes when it’s their turn but it is going to reveal the potential of what this technology can do and how it affects the everyday world they are going to grow up in and they’re going to have fun while doing so, what’s not to like?
£100

A great learning tool for any kid interested in AI learning and building their own robot.
Pros Very easy to understand manual Easy to use and train Vocal as well as physical action reactions Building it also teaches good, basic mechanics. Cons Limited movements – the arms are just cosmetic and it can only move forwards or backwards
No apparently obvious way to add extras in the future so may have a limited shelf life

For more information on the Morso Balcone electric BBQ click here
Morso Balcone electric BBQ With space becoming more of a premium and flats becoming more common-place, the good old Barbecue is rapidly becoming to large for our shrinking outdoor areas… Well, Morso have come up with a solution. An electric barbecue small enough to hang on a balcony yet powerful enough to get some serious grilling done! No flames so no worries about breaking any (very sensible) safety regulations and the opportunity to become the BBQ master of the third floor! The power output can get up to 1800 Watts which is plenty hot enough to cook thoroughly and the grill itself is made of enamelled cast iron which is great at transferring heat and is easy to clean afterwards – just make sure you don’t use abrasive materials to do so! It’s also split in to 2 separate heat levels with two thirds being your normal heat and the other third being cooler so you can keep food warm once it’s cooked. The temperature is controlled via a knob on the side so you’re not just stuck at 1 temperature and it only needs about 15 minutes heating time before it’s ready to go. The base is made from solid PA Nylon, useful for its resilience and heat resistant properties and the casing is made from sturdy aluminium and the whole thing weighs only about 9 Kg which is fairly lightweight for what it is. A word of warning however – the provided power cable is only 2 metres long and so it’s going to be worth investing in an extension cable for most people and the bracket that supports it on a balcony railing is a separate purchase of £69 so be prepared to need a solid table to rest it on if you’re unable to get that straight away.
A great idea and a decent barbecue that allows people without the room to enjoy outdoor cooking.
£429
Pros Quick to heat up Convenient Easy to clean
Allows outdoor cooking for those without easy access to an outdoor area
Cons Considering what it’s designed for, the brackets should have been included and not a separate purchase in my opinion.

Letshuoer IEM S15 Sometimes, good sound quality is all you’re after and there are plenty of IEM’s out there to suit every kind of taste. This latest set from Letshuoer (Previously just Shuoer) is a planar magnetic set of IEM’s. For those wondering what that is and why it’s relevant, basically, the magnets sandwich the diaphragm and they react more quickly to changes in the audio signal and this in turn enhances clarity and detail. The diaphragm can also be made larger as a result and so capture more of the sound, giving a better overall depth and quality of audio. And the S15 delivers that. As well as the ‘planar magnetic-ness’ of them, the cables are made of 216 individual strands of silver-plated copper cable and dual-acoustic tubes with a filter crossover – a great way to filter different frequencies so they don’t crowd over each other, adding even more to that depth of audio. In addition, they’ve also added a 6mm ‘passive filtering module’ outside of the planar driver, further refining the audio. The overall sound you get is a warm, rounded noise that does a really good job of drawing you in and immersing you in the music which is surely what you want from IEM’s. They have even provided for different jack sizes with 3 being provided in the box (2.5, 3.5 & 4.4mm) and all being right-angled. They’re really easy to switch around too so you can happily switch between devices as and when you need to. You get 2 different styles of ear tips (one wider than the other) and 3 different sizes for each set, small, medium and large. The carry case that comes with the set is a round, sturdy plastic box with an almost rubbery feel to it that should keep your ear pieces in good condition between uses and slips easily in your pocket. Pretty easy to find and likely to survive an accidental sitting on too!
£258.92
A very solid set of IEM’s with a great, rounded quality and depth of sound.
If you’re happy shelling out for them, chances are you won’t be disappointed!
Pros Great depth of sound Caters for different jack sizes Solid carry case 3D printed shell makes for a lighter set of ear pieces

Mbot Ultimate If you’ve never heard of Meccano, it was a series of construction sets made out of metal with all the screws and gubbins you needed to build your own engineering project. It was quite the educational ‘toy’ and most likely launched a few engineering careers in its time. This kit is very reminiscent of Meccano in that you get to build pretty much whatever you want but this has the added advantage of robotics and programming, something that kid-me would have dearly loved to have! You get instructions to build 10 distinctly unique models, all of them with their own capabilities and uses (adult-me’s favourite is the one that can hold and pour bottles of drink in to a glass as well as move around on wheels!) and 10 preset programs to get you started. As well as the instructions provided on purchase, you also have access to a free online resource that provides coding software with 3 different coding languages and the kit is even compatible with Raspberry Pi and Arduino sensors. Once inquisitive minds get going, the possibilities are endless and this can turn this kit in to a really good learning tool for STEM areas. From a technical perspective you get an ultrasonic sensor, gyroscope, shutter module and a line follower sensor – all of which allow the machines to do all the things you want it to achieve. It takes 6 AA batteries and these can keep it going for up to 2 hours so you’ll definitely be wanting to invest in some rechargeable ones if you don’t want to spend a small fortune! It connects via Bluetooth and your phone has all the basic commands on there for the build you have followed. If it's wheeled or tracked you have a circular dial to steer and clear buttons for each function you wish to use. It makes the whole process very simple to use and a great learning tool that should be easy for kids to get the hang of.
$399.99
Pros Comes with an additional storage box for unused pieces
Free to use app Compatible with Raspberry Pi Very durable Cons Honestly couldn’t think of any – even the price is reasonable for what you get!
A really versatile kit that makes learning coding and engineering easy for anyone. I want!
