Although we have had about a weeks worth of sleep over the past two months all things considered its been one of the best summers we have had for a while. Edifier TWS1 Pro The TWS earbuds have had a makeover to upgrade them into a Pro edition, they come in a choice of black or ivory with gold branding, they have a small design and are housed in an equally compact charging case that can boost the battery life from 12hours all the way up to 42hours. The speed in which the case can be recharged has been improved from the original TWS and will now be fully charged again in just 40 minutes, the earbuds take about 1.5hours. They feature the 2nd generation of Qualcomm aptX adaptive technology which gives aptX HD and aptX low latency quality, the PU+ titanium diaphragm aims to differentiate between human voices and music for outdoor users. The Qualcomm cVcTM 8.0 noise cancellation aims to provide clearer phone calls whilst the Qualcomm's TrueWireless Mirroring technology provides a stable wireless transmission that can be switched from single to dual ear use with ease. The TWS1 Pro uses Bluetooth V5.2 for a fast and stable connection as well as more efficient battery usage, the earbuds have an IP65 water and dust resistance, making them sweatproof and suitable for the gym and outdoor use. These earphones are comfortable and light in the ears, they hold in place even during vigorous exercise or dancing, they can easily be worn all day without fatigue. The touch sensitive controls take a bit of getting used to but quickly become intuitive and allow you to skip songs, change the volume, take calls and pause/resume play. The sound is enjoyable, the bass is a little weak, so it doesn’t do EDM and heavier rock and roll full justice but overall it’s good for most chart music and podcasts, the earbuds have a good seal that blocks out exterior noise but there isn’t any active noise cancellation to speak of. All things considered these are impressive little earbuds for their price range, with a solid battery life, enjoyable sound stage and reliable connection, a great choice for day to day use.
There’s a lot of good things packed into these little earbuds and it won’t cost you the earth to enjoy them.

Ruffwear Singletrak Dog Hydration Pack

Singletrak hydration pack. Summer is here and its time to get back out exploring the world and what better adventure buddy than your four-legged friend. With many of us being a bit out of practise with going out and about it is worth remembering in this sort of heat it is so important to stay hydrated and that goes for the dogs too. The Singletrak dog pack from Ruffwear is a hydration pack designed specifically for your pooch to carry on board their own belongings, making for the swift location of all the dog’s essential gear. It comes in a choice of Red Currant and Blue Dusk, both brightly coloured versions that make it easier to locate your dog if they decide to go a little off-piste while exploring, it is available in sizes Small, Medium and Large/ Extra Large. This pack is designed with a compact low profile so as not to interfere with the dogs’ movements or snag on the undergrowth whilst they check out their surroundings. It comes with two collapsible BPA-free water bottles which adds up to 600ml, that’s just over a pint, these can be stored away in their own designated pockets, there are also two more pockets to stash other essential, snacks, poo bag and a collapsible bowl for example. The five-point adjustable harness provides a precise fit, it conforms to the dog’s body allowing for freedom of movement around the dog’s legs and neck. There is a large handle that runs down the length of the pack which can be used to quickly restrain the dog or help to lift and assist them over difficult spots, there are two lead attachments points, both constructed from an anodized aluminium V-ring and webbing loop. The Singletrak has reflective detailing for better visibility in low light and there is a loop attachment point for a light, the Ruffwear Beacon for example, at the end of a particularly messy adventure the pack can be hand washed with a mild detergent. LIVALL EVO21
The Evo21 is now available for pre order with a release date of October this year, this 2021 edition of the already popular Evo helmet is a road bike helmet that takes its inspiration from the time trial aero helmets which make sure air resistance and perspiration reduction is an important part of the design. There is a built in, powerful light mounted at the front of the helmet that will angle the light into the road when the cyclist is in the sprinting position whilst the rear lights provide visibility for road users approaching behind you but will also act as indicators and brake lights. It comes in four colours, Purple, Mint, Black and White and is available in Medium (54-58cm) and Large (58-62cm). The Evo21 is packed with tech so it isn’t one of the lightest helmets out there but at 350g it is by no means heavy and is more than comfortable for moderate rides. It has shed some weight thanks to the increase in ventilation, 30% more than its predecessor, this added air is a welcome addition to this helmet and the new inner wind channel system lets more air flow through reducing the build up of heat and moisture and importantly, helmet hair. Our favourite safety features are still present, the SOS system which connects via your smartphone and with the use of the integrated 3-Axis G-sensor and the patented fall detection will automatically send an SOS message to your emergency contact through the LIVALL RIDING App. The only downside to this is it will require a constant connection to your phone to remain active and this can drain some smartphones batteries, but after my dad’s recent collision with a car it seems a small price to pay for raising the alarm quickly. This system can also be set up to call the emergency services and provides the cyclist’s geolocation as well as flashing the helmet lights for quickly locating and ensuring the cyclist remains visible. The 270° rear lights wrap around the sides of the helmet which optimises visibility whilst providing intuitive signals to road users around you. You can signal your turning and stop clearly right from the handlebar giving you greater control over the bike by keeping your hands exactly where they should be, the brake light activates automatically as you slow down warning those behind you. This upgraded helmet keeps all the safety features that made it so popular and tackles the issues of weight and breathability with its new ventilation, making it a good choice for the city cyclist.

Familidoo Air Pushchair Familidoo is a new brand to the UK, and we are glad they have arrived and not just for how satisfying it is to say their name, originating from France Familidoo set out to create an ultra-compact and light pushchair suitable from zero months all the way up to 15kg (around three years old). The Air Pushchair is available in four patterns Pure Black, Grey Denim, Bear Blue and Black Panda, it is also newly available in Twin edition but only in the Grey Denim design. The pushchair comes in a handy carry bag making it much easier to transport, it can be held in the hand or popped up on the shoulder, this also helps to keeps any dirt or water on the wheels and chassis from making a mess of your other belongings or clothing. The chassis is made from a strong but lightweight aluminium frame and the whole thing can be folded down and redeployed with one hand and the lever and button combination prevents accidental triggering, speeding up at least one part of travelling with a little one. The Air is compact when folded at just 43 x 24 x 60cm which expands to 62 x 42 x 103cm when fully assembled, it will stand up on its own when folded down which is useful when so many bags and gear end up on the floor whilst you pack up the car. There is a deployable rain cover and reasonably sized shopping basket underneath the seat, the foot brake is
located in the middle of the base, it is one of the more delicate areas of the pushchair, a thicker plastic would make it feel more robust, but it performed well at quick and secure stops. The seat can be reclined to a near flat position which makes it suitable for the new-borns however it is advised to lay 0-6month olds in a carry cot. As little one gets bigger the seat can be brought upright, it does have a slight recline on it still even at its most upright which might not be suitable for those kids who dislike being laid back even in the slightest. There is a detachable T-Bar for added safety and gives little hands something to hold on to on the ride. The pushchair handles surprisingly well for its price range, there is front and rear wheel suspension which does a good job at delivering a smooth and sturdy ride. Other features include the 3-panel sun canopy and integrated 5-point adjustable safety harness. The Familidoo Air focuses on being a compact and lightweight stroller, this means it isn’t packed with features, there are no cup holder or other attachments, but it doesn’t need them. It’s not the most plush or luxurious of pushchairs but you are still getting good value for money, it perfect for urban trips with a little one, it is easy to pop away in the car, fold up quickly before jumping on a busy train or bus.

Alfillé Butter Dish The Tv Chef Julia Child famously said, “with enough butter, anything is good”, and she was certainly right, however when I come across a recipe that helpfully says “soften butter” it normally involves accidently melting the butter in the microwave or trying to cream cold, rock hard butter unsuccessfully. The problem is where do you store your butter dish, keep it in the fridge and your toast becomes a mangled mess, leave it on the countertop and in the summer months you end up with a greasy puddle. This butter dish from Alfillé solves this frustrating problem by keeping the butter at the perfect spreadable consistency thanks to the adjustable temperature control, it comes in 14 different designs including some funky cow prints. The 12V dc power supply does mean you are giving up one of your worktops plugs and with so many kitchen appliances needing a socket this could be an issue, but the portable design means it can be relocated to a different areas of the house and is even adaptable for your caravan,

Amok Draumr 5.0 I have been using products from Amok for a number of year’s so I have been very excited to get my hands on the Draumr 5.0 when I heard about the coming release last year. What sets Amok apart from other hammock manufacturers is their innovative design rather than sleeping lengthwise between suspension points, as with most hammocks, the Amok provides a fabric platform that hangs across its axis. What this means is by using adjustable straps and an integral inflatable mat you can enjoy laying flat on your side, back or stomach for a comfortable siesta or sleep for the night. You can also re-adjust to allow you to sit in the Amok like a chair to enjoy the views and stars. A ‘floor’ pocket holds the included inflatable mat in place and oh my Is it bliss laying on your side in the trees with the sun on your face and the comfort below. Now when lying flat the rest of the Amok will still be at an angle to where it has been positioned and the pockets help you to defy gravity, so rather than having your food and drink, phone, keys etc all laying on or next to you they can be placed in the many pockets provided so everything is to hand and easy to navigate. If you haven’t used a product by Amok before I would say it is essential to watch their video guide as although it’s reasonably intuitive to set up to fine tune for comfort and stability you want to get the best out the Draumr 5.0. Definitely have a practise at home before you take it on the big adventure. The new Draumr 5.0 has reminded us again why we love Amok so much.

Moment Pebble
Mental health and stress management awareness has become increasingly important in recent times, mindfulness, yoga and exercise are all heathy ways to manage stress and release endorphins. The Pebble is a small natural stone device, weighing 300g (10.65oz), that on command rhythmically glows with a gentle light you can use to take 40-second moments of mindfulness. At first glance it looks like nothing more than a pebble, but the touch controls and LEDs combine to deliver a basic breathing exercise to help relax you. Mud Daddy 5 Litre Portable Washing Device
So far, this summer has been a bit of a wet one, yet we are as keen as ever to get outside and enjoy it, the downside of lots of rain and the great outdoors is that you end up with a lot of mud, mud on your boots, wheels, tent and even your dog. The Mud Daddy is a portable washing device that is powered by water pressure, no batteries, recharging or plugs needed, this means you can keep it in the back of the car, take it down to the beach or use it in the back garden. It comes in a variety of sizes, we received the 5L (30 x 15 x 18 cm), the smallest available, it has a compact build to ensure it doesn’t take up too much space in the car. At first inspection the build quality could be better in some areas to make it more robust, nearly the entire thing is made from plastic including the water trigger. A waterproof carry case would make a nice addition to offer a little protection whilst travelling and preventing any leftover dribbles of water coming into contact with your belongings. The Mud Daddy comes with a shower head brush and a 2meter hose for faster application, it can be used with cold or warm water (not boiling) and will keep the water warm for up to 2.5hours, allowing you to prepare in advance. It is simple to use, just pump the handle until the max pressure is reached and release the trigger, the brush is stiff enough to aid in cleaning but soft enough to use on dogs or horses. This pressurised water system uses 90% less water than a hose pipe or jet wash, holds enough water to clean up to 3 dogs, (depending on the size), there are shampoos and even antibacterial pre-wash available on the Mud Daddy website that can be mixed in with the water for added cleaning power, we know what dogs enjoy rolling in at times. The silent action is a good way to prevent distressing nervous dogs and horses but its not just dog walkers who can make use of the mud daddy. After a particularly muddy walk in the woods with our 3month old our push chair looked like a 4X4 after green laneing, the mud daddy worked really well at getting mess off the wheels, chassis and our shoes, saving our car and belongings from a good coating in mud. It can even be used for a makeshift shower at festivals, although you may need an extra pair of hands to help you out. The Mud Daddy is a simple but effective cleaning solution for those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle without bringing the outside in with them.

Lumen Metabolic Measurement Device When it comes to adopting a healthier lifestyle, it can be hard to know where to start, the Lumen Metabolic Measurement Device is a unique way of looking at your health by using your breath. This is the world’s first hand held portable device that accurately measures the metabolism in a way that until now was only ever available to top athletes, in hospitals and clinics. So, how does it work? well, the Lumen uses a CO2 sensor and flow meter to measure your CO2 levels based on the RER metric (respiratory exchange ratio), this data is then used to indicate the type of fuel your body is using to produce energy and has been scientifically proven to accurately measure metabolic fuels, clever right. All you need to do to get a reading is inhale a fixed volume of air through the Lumen device (dynamic to each individual), hold it for 10 seconds before exhaling fully, the app will walk you through the whole process with easy-to-follow images which are useful when you are half asleep still. However, the breathing does need to be quite precise and if it isn’t perfect, it will ask you to do it again, and again.
Lumen will ask you to take a reading each morning and then use this information to give you personalized meal recommendations by monitoring your body’s ability to shift between using fats or carbs as a source of energy. This morning reading basically gives you a score and tells you if you are burning body fat (ideal in the morning) or still burning through carbs (food) from the day before, this stops you from eating out of habit and instead gives the body exactly what it needs when it needs it. To receive your daily personalised food plan, you will need to select a package which includes a 3months, 6months or 12months plan and the sensor device. This set up, although a little expensive, is really quite effective, seeing a little number first thing in the morning that is telling you that you are still running off last night’s pizza is a big motivator for starting the day right. Tannus Men's Razor Blade 26” We have two bikes in the shed which haven’t been taken out for over a year due to punctures and because of this I have been going for runs for exercise rather than cycling. I then came across the brand Tannus who are known for their puncture proof tyres and we have since reviewed two of the Men’s razor blade 26” models replacing the old punctured tyres on one of the bikes. First thing I remembered was how calf centric running is and how quad centric cycling is and how my quads wanted to remind me of that cycle ride two days later with the doms. The Razor Blade from Tannus tyres alleviates the threat of a flat tyre through the use of patented Aither 1.1. By using this puncture proof tyre, Tannus has found the guaranteed way to stay flat free and smiling for 5000 miles guaranteed (not including motorized and e-bikes as the tread will burn out quicker). The ride was smooth and felt no different to riding on a normal air filled tyre, set up was simple and coming back to the bike a few weeks later it was such a treat not having to get the pump out and that will take some getting used to. The Razor Blade Aither II is the best alternative for hybrid bikes and neighbourhood cruisers alike because it holds up through all kinds of abuse. The heat of summer, moisture of spring, or cold of winter only make this tyre more attractive because temperature and moisture doesn’t impact the performance, unlike standard air-filled tyres. Ener-J IP20 Indoor IP Camera We have reviewed a number of outdoor cameras over the last few months but this is the first indoor camera we have had a chance to review and the first product from the brand Ener-J. The IP20 Indoor IP Camera comes nicely packaged, included in the box is the camera itself, plug, cable, bracket, screws and wall plugs and the instructions. The camera is well built and the cable is a USB to Micro USB with a good length of 1.8m. The bracket allows you to mount the camera either on a wall or ceiling, simply screw the bracket into the base of the camera. There is a slot for you to place the micro SD, when the camera is in place and plugged in you will see a red glow from the SD card slot to indicate that the camera is turned on. You will then need to sync up the camera to your phone via the app, to set this up add the device on the app and connect it to your Wi-Fi. When this is done the app will present you with a QR code which you will present to the camera and it will announce via the speaker on the camera when this has been connected. The app is very simple to use and has great functionality allowing you to direct the camera where you want with its 360 degree rotation, the reaction from the app to turning the camera is instant. You can choose to have the camera in standard or high definition in which the view was very clear. Motion detection can be set between low, medium and high and time parameters can be set on the app. We were really pleased with this cost effective solution from Ener-J.

Logitech C922 Pro If like me you now find working from home a permanent feature of your job, you will find yourself using software like GotoMeeting, Meets, Zoom etc everyday which was software I had never heard of 18 months ago. We can forgive you if you haven’t come across the brand Cimalp before when looking for running shoes, this French company has been around since the 1960’s focusing in the beginning on mountaineering apparel and branching out into a range of outdoor gear. The 864 Drop Evolution are an interesting pair of trail runners with a unique design making it the only shoe to offer an adjustable drop for optimum performance. These shoes come with three pairs of insoles, 8mm, 6mm and 4mm to choose from depending on the terrain you are working with and what your overall running goal might be. The 8mm drop insole is the largest drop on offer with these shoes, they are best used for those long runs to help maintain comfort over time for example during ultra-trails. The 4mm sole delivers the shallowest drop, this type of sole is ideal for runs that focus on speed, this encourages a mid or forefoot landing ready to push forward for take-off. That leaves the 6mm which sits happily in the middle of the two, giving you a combination of both comfort and energetic design to keep you at a moderate pace over medium length distances, marathons for example. The versatile drop height isn’t the only thing the 864 shoes have to offer, they come with the CHROMOSOME midsole and dual density insole, this aids in transferring the energy from landing to lift off as well as maintaining foot positioning. I must say that these fitted me perfectly so those with narrower feet may not find these to be the right shoe for them. Babolat Boost Wimbledon Along with the trainers we were also sent two rackets the first we reviewed was the Boost which is targeted at beginners thanks to a very forgiving 680cm² head size which facilitates the centering of the ball by erasing small placement errors. From the very first exchanges, me and my wife had a rally that lasted more than 4 shots which was very encouraging. There are a few reasons for this, firstly I was going easy on her, secondly the head size made it easier for her to find the sweet spot and thirdly as the racket only weighs 260 grams it was lighter than my old racket which she normally uses. The racket allows for easy handling in all areas of the game to facilitate rallies without feeling tired, even after hours of play, what surprised me is how on the occasion her forearm smashed it down the line with what looked like minimum effort. The 16 x 19 string pattern will provide great spin on the ball while the stiffness of the frame (70 ra) will allow you to hit backhands and forehands at full power, she has now decided this is her racket and it was nice to play a game that lasted more than 15 minutes as there was no complaints that she was tired and it was great that we had a lot more rallies than normal. A great racket for beginner to intermediate levels.

Babolat Evoke 105 Wimbledon The Evoke 105 is another great racket for the novice recreational tennis player. The racket weighs 275 grams so is slightly heavier than the Boost, but that still makes it slightly lighter than a usual racket. The racket is also ideal for children who want to make the transition from a junior to a senior racket. Despite being lightweight this racket has an average face size the same as the Boost at 680cm². A combination that rarely occurs, is that this racket is suitable for players who have their technique under control and would like to play with a light racket to maximise their techniques. APEMAN M4S Mini DLP Projector This month we will be reviewing the successor from Apeman of the M4 with the M4S. Firstly what is so impressive is that this tiny device (10.5cm x 10.5cm) can give you a home cinema experience of up to 100 inches, the unit is glossy black with beautiful curves and only weighs 270 grams. The box comes with the projector, instructions, USB-C charging cable, Mini tripod, HDMI cable and a USB plug. The projectors internal battery is 5000 mAmp so can give you two hours play off one charge. On the back of the device there is the charging point, HDMI port, Headphone jack and a USB port so you can backward charge other devices. The controls on the device are simple to use, there is a power button that you hold for a couple of seconds and a minus and plus button to adjust the focus at the bottom there is a kick stand or a quarter inch screw for mounting on a tripod. When the device is turned on some buttons flash up on the top of the device and these control the volume, light control and the keystone projection. The device is not wireless but you can cast if you plug in a Miracast dongle. After setup I was very impressed with the image and we took it camping and watched a film on a bed sheet under the moon and stars, campers walking by couldn’t believe the image was coming out of this tiny device. For the full cinematic experience and gaming I would spend more money on a projector but for outdoor cinema, presentations this is absolutely perfect.

The imoo Ear-care headset are the first open ear wireless headphones for children to hit the market with their strapline being to promote ear health for kids. The Headset currently only comes in one colour which is Aurora Green which complimented really nicely against the black, the headband fits around the back of the head with the caps resting on your ears. The imoo Ear-care headset has a top level output of 85db so children are not putting their eardrums under any stress and can still hear their surroundings. The sound comes from the 16.22mm Soundbeam speakers which give out a delicious sound from mid range to treble frequencies. They connect over Bluetooth 5.0 which means they have a range of around 10 metres. They are charged via a micro USB with a 1 hour charge time giving 8 hours of use, you receive the charging cable along with the headset and instructions in the box. The headset has been designed perfectly for children out of antiallergy materials while being durable (these can be dropped many times and work, we have witnessed this.) They are very simple to use with one button to answer and reject calls and play and pause music, the only function that I would have like to have seen added is for skipping back and forth through your tracks. They have very clever sensors that pause when they are taken away from the head. We are really happy with this product from a brand we haven’t worked with before and I would feel very comfortable giving this to my child, however at 3 months he is not ready just yet.

GEGO Universal Luggage Tracker As the world reopens we remember what holidays and travelling were. Over the next few months we will be looking at a number of travel gadgets to help make travelling safer, comfortable and more enjoyable. This month we will be taking a look at the GEGO global tracker. The GEGO Universal Tracker can be placed inside or attached to …. anything you want to track basically. The device is the size of a credit card and is very light. (3.54 inches x 2.17 inches x 0.38 inches and 1.73 ounces). It will be able to track locally through Bluetooth connecting to your phone or through the 3G network which provides worldwide coverage with no additional roaming charges. We found through the Bluetooth the connection was instant piggybacking the signal from my phone with real time alerts, through its own 3G the real time feedback was slightly delayed. We have reviewed trackers before which are more instant but not one that tracks this much distance, this can be used to track in 192 countries.
I found the battery life very good, under active use the device will last a week I would always check and charge every couple of days though to make sure you are safe for the following week, when not in use I would imagine the charge would hold for a month. The device is also compliant with all air regulations so you can take it on flights, as a luggage tracker you would assume this is the case but I thought I would include that here to avoid any doubt. You can track through downloading the app on your phone which is simple enough to use and works the same with phones on all operating systems, it is also the only tracker that can be used with Alexa. Through the app you can set alerts and notifications, security zones for example so you know when the tracker has been taken out of a certain area. The service plans are either $14.95 on a monthly rolling contract or $11.95 per month on an annual service plan.
