So far, this summer has been a bit of a wet one, yet we are as keen as ever to get outside and enjoy it, the downside of lots of rain and the great outdoors is that you end up with a lot of mud, mud on your boots, wheels, tent and even your dog. The Mud Daddy is a portable washing device that is powered by water pressure, no batteries, recharging or plugs needed, this means you can keep it in the back of the car, take it down to the beach or use it in the back garden. It comes in a variety of sizes, we received the 5L (30 x 15 x 18 cm), the smallest available, it has a compact build to ensure it doesn’t take up too much space in the car. At first inspection the build quality could be better in some areas to make it more robust, nearly the entire thing is made from plastic including the water trigger. A waterproof carry case would make a nice addition to offer a little protection whilst travelling and preventing any leftover dribbles of water coming into contact with your belongings. The Mud Daddy comes with a shower head brush and a 2meter hose for faster application, it can be used with cold or warm water (not boiling) and will keep the water warm for up to 2.5hours, allowing you to prepare in advance. It is simple to use, just pump the handle until the max pressure is reached and release the trigger, the brush is stiff enough to aid in cleaning but soft enough to use on dogs or horses. This pressurised water system uses 90% less water than a hose pipe or jet wash, holds enough water to clean up to 3 dogs, (depending on the size), there are shampoos and even antibacterial pre-wash available on the Mud Daddy website that can be mixed in with the water for added cleaning power, we know what dogs enjoy rolling in at times. The silent action is a good way to prevent distressing nervous dogs and horses but its not just dog walkers who can make use of the mud daddy. After a particularly muddy walk in the woods with our 3month old our push chair looked like a 4X4 after green laneing, the mud daddy worked really well at getting mess off the wheels, chassis and our shoes, saving our car and belongings from a good coating in mud. It can even be used for a makeshift shower at festivals, although you may need an extra pair of hands to help you out. The Mud Daddy is a simple but effective cleaning solution for those who enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle without bringing the outside in with them.
