the artist katrina jones I fell in love with the myth of Paris when, as a little girl, I discovered an Eiffel Tower charm bracelet in my mother’s jewellery box. My childhood was full of anticipation of one day seeing the real thing. I devoured my French classes at school and after graduating in French from university, set out on my first trip in 1991. I was ruined forever. I knew then that Paris would figure heavily in my life and have kept devising ways to make this happen ever since. From a stint at the Sorbonne to an appearance on a French quiz show, to my honeymoon, to now exploring the city with my children - Paris remains a fairytale. A former high school teacher of French, I now work as a Museum Educator and live in Bondi, Sydney with my husband and two children. About the artwork: My early black and white photos of Paris are my most cherished. The feeling of how incredibly happy I was and how creative and inspired I felt on that trip still washes over me when I look at these. My first ever trip cemented paths that I still retrace and shaped favourites that still hold true: Trocadero, les Colonnes de Buren at the PalaisRoyal and the environs of Notre Dame.

the artist razel navarro These images were taken during late winter in Paris a few years back. For history and architecture lovers like me, Paris is bliss. As a young university student, I studied and learned about its landscapes and historic monuments and wondered and wished to see Paris and personally experience its glory and magnificence. Many years later, I had the privilege of travelling to the city of lights. The moment I started exploring its streets, I got this nostalgic feeling bringing me back to the time when I was dreaming of visiting Paris, which at that moment became a reality. It was magical and a love affair with Paris was born.

the artist jb vincent About the Artist Originally from a little town in the south of France, somewhere between the Alps mountains and the Riviera, I’m currently living and working in Sydney. I’ve been lucky enough to be brought up in a family of artists and have always loved sketching and drawing for as long as I can remember. Since then, my work has taken me around the world, which helps me get an appreciation for people, their stories and the diversity of their culture. This journey is what inspires my work, which style is mostly figurative to capture expressive people’s emotions.

Ludovic Baron France
La liberté
Size: 24x26cm Framed $158
Ludovic Baron is a young artist passionate about photography and image creation. He accepts the paradoxes at the heart of his work: realism and powerful onirism, borrowed from cinematography and modern myths. In creating an image, Ludovic undertakes a complex and precise production process that is always in service to his spontaneity. In November 2013, he exhibited at the Petit Palais in Petit Paris and participated in the auction organised at the Hôtel Georges V in support of UNICEF. In 2014, he exhibited at the prestigious Sparta Gallery in Los Angeles, at the Hôtel de Paris in Monaco, at the Espace
Pierre Cardin, followed by an exhibition at the Palais Brongniart in Paris. In November 2014 he renewed his support for UNICEF with a new work created to give hope to sick children, hung at the Théatre du Chatelet in Paris. New exhibitions are currently in preparation, and Ludovic is developing new and increasingly ambitious projects both in France and abroad.

Damien Vassart France
In March 1984 Damien Vassart was born in the suburbs of Brussels where he spent the first nine years of his life. He first of all moved to the south of France. Nine years later, he settled in the West Indies for two years, at the end of which he returned to the mainland to study in Paris, where he currently lives and works. His taste for art and his observational skills, blended nostalgically when he recalls the magnificent landscapes of the regions in which he has lived, naturally led him to landscape photography. Paris and its monuments, La Défense and
its imposing towers, but also the pared down marine landscapes became his favourite subjects. Classic, as well as contemporary influences, dictate these artistic choices. Black and white and square formats are a permanent feature of his work, as well as the long exposure that he uses to give his pictures their dreamlike aspect. His photographs of Paris were exhibited at the Lucernaire Gallery in January 2010. He is planning to visit other cities, whilst continuing to work on Paris which never ceases to inspire him.
Laurent Dequick France
This 40 year old photograph is an architect by profession. There are signs of this in his work as it is first of all a reflection on contemporary cities and more specifically about the proliferation of modern urban space. Laurent Dequick’s purpose is to accurately convey an impression of frenzy which results from a density of population and activity in urban areas: «Along the streets, the lights, the noise, the traffic, the swarms of pedestrians, the blend of smells, are so fascinating that no single shot can entirely capture it. Do choices have to be made? I
don’t think so; I don’t want to…» To translate this urbane life « congestion » into an image, the photographer does not shy away from the juxtaposition, superposition or inlaying of shots. With the same intensity he overlaps photographs representing architectural complexes, main traffic routes and people. He condenses the images like the city condenses the sum of its inhabitants’ lives. Dequick’s style is reminiscent of cubism in its execution close to abstraction and in his representation of permanent movement.

Sandro Gämperle Switzerland
Born in 1975, Swiss artist Sandro Gämperle is multi-talented, playing many roles. A professional engineer, he had a career in mechanical engineering while developing an eminently professional photographic practice in his spare time. A self-taught photographer, he taught himself photography from the early 2000s, at the time the first digital cameras arrived on the market. The instant character of digital cameras arrived on the market. The instant character of digital allowed him to experiment
the technique and settings required to produce images on his own. From his home in Zurich, Sandro Gämperle fuels his curiosity by documenting the voyages he undertakes throughout the world, whether they are professional or personal. The photographer’s determination bore fruits when he participated in a number of exhibitions in Switzerland and recently at «Photo 13» and «Photo 14» at the Maag Event Hall by presenting his shots of Myanmar and the American West.
Xavier Martin France
Xavier Martin was born, lives, and works in Paris. When he was twelve, his father gave him his first camera. It was then that he took his first pictures, photographing everything around him. Impassioned and determined to become a photographer, he began his trade with the Angeli agency at the end of the 70s, as a reporter and, in particular, as a photographer
of celebrities and continued in this line of work at Sipa Press. Engaged by France Soir, Journal du Dimanche, and the Figaro, he is a photojournalist of current events, and also collaborates with l’Agence Jet Set, agency of stars.

Rooted in his fascination with cinematographic iconography, his thematic study the relationship between the individual and architecture. Each one of Bohbot’s works features these photographic intentions — through their enigmatic atmosphere, documentary-style approach, and timeless feel, we are transported to a dreamy, velvety, and nearly infinite visual paradise.
As Such Franck Bohbot immortalizes street scenes, Swimming pools, Libraries, Basketball courts, Museums, Movie, theaters, Fairs, Artists, Athlete or Craftsman. He has been published in international publications, such as The New York Times, The New York Magazine, National Geographic, Wired. He works and lives in New York.
Nicolas Bets France
Nicolas Bets arrived in Paris from his native Belgium at the age of 17, to become a photographer like his father. After abandoning photography classes, he became the assistant to Daniel Lorieux and Claus Wickrath for seven years. It was during this period that he learned about the aesthetics and staging of characters, combining creative madness and technical rigour. Today, he mainly works in the fashion industry and showcases products using models, in which
expressiveness and attention to detail are taken to the extreme. He was notably responsible for the success of the “Babouche” campaign, in which he staged naked characters in the heart of Paris, with babouches (Oriental slippers) as their only accessories! Nicolas Bets works for the magazines Vanity Fair, Photo, Marie-France and Wad; his principal clients are Louis Vuitton, Coca-Cola and Cegetel.
