Building + Engaging the Community
SHAPE OUR VOICE
Steward’s core values are innovation, inspiration, care and respect, individuality, academic achievement, and civil discourse. We will reach a consensus on the definition of these core values and seek actionable ways to employ them.
GROW OUR PROGRAMS
Seeds are planted from the earliest grades for students to develop the skills and mindsets for service, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Students will graduate with demonstrated competencies that are attractive to both college and career landscapes.
EXPAND THE BIL’S IMPACT
The Bryan Innovation Lab is a hub of hands-on learning and creative expression. It is more than a building. Meaningful BIL programming will inspire students every day to learn life and leadership skills that will serve them well into the future.
LEVERAGE MODERN TECHNOLOGY
Students will collaborate with and leverage modern advancements such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality to encourage curiosity and exercise the critical thinking necessary to use the latest technology in creative and ethical ways.
EMBRACE DISCOURSE
In a world that is increasingly full of disinformation, we are creating the Center for Civil Discourse and Discernment. Students will learn how to research topics expertly, how to recognize their own biases in light of others’ perspectives, and how to truly listen to and understand opposing viewpoints.
MAINTAIN WELLNESS
Faculty will be trained in programs such as Mental Health First Aid and Restorative Practices to encourage both individual and community wellbeing. We are also dedicated to auditing our school’s use of time to make necessary adjustments to the schedule and workload of our students and staff.
EXTEND OUR COMMUNITY
Families and alumni are integral members of the Steward community, and their involvement is imperative to our culture. We will create greater opportunities for on-campus involvement, including volunteer and guest speaker opportunities.
SHARE EXPERIENCES
By incorporating Richmond-based start-ups into Steward’s community, we allow our students to learn from and work with local entrepreneurs, on and off campus. Projects and internships create opportunities to take their knowledge into Richmond and bring new learnings back to Steward.
We may not know what the future holds. But we know the possibilities are endless. Each year, the next generation of Spartans gives us countless reasons to anticipate tomorrow. We’re always looking ahead, always growing, and always exploring new ways to inspire students, our community, and the future itself. Steward is today’s school for tomorrow’s world.
