Our ‘IT’ Bags Round-Up What You Need to Know

Accessories play a significant part in completing and complimenting our outfits, and our handbags can either make or break the look. Choosing the perfect bag for your look is crucial. The options are endless, and designers continue to surprise us without limiting themselves to anything when it comes to creativity. As seasons come and go, some items such as the Chanel Boy Bag stay beloved classics. Bringing back the belt bag, now that was a bold, successful move. Other brands such as Louis Vuitton and Balenciaga have started designing belt bags in newer designs and bigger quantities for us fashion-hungry, trend-loving buyers.

the talk - page 16

Fendi Spring/Summer 2019, spottedfashion.com

Another concept that we’re not sure what to call - is it a belt, a bag, a belt bag or preferably a ‘utility belt bag’? The Fendi Leather Multi-Tool Belt Bag is one of the top accessories of this year so far. It includes a phone slot, card slots, a lobster clasp, and a keychain. This utility accessory can be worn around the waist and across the body as well. Its popularity didn’t take us by surprise as we were the first ones to put our names down on that waiting list!

Chanel Fall/Winter 2019, spottedfashion.com

Another bag that caught our eyes is not your typical micro purse that fits a few items. Let’s take a look at the latest Jacquemus Le Chiquito Mini Bag. It caused quite the stir at Paris Fashion Week; the palm-sized bag barely fits anything. But do we want it? Of course! Imagine a perfectly tailored white jumpsuit with a canary yellow Jacquemus Le Chiquito. Perfection? We think so too. the talk - page 17

Bike Chic “Leggings are not pants, but wait a second, what about bike shorts? You might wonder how this could be, but this controversial trend is here to stay.

the talk - page 18

From Kim K to off-duty models, this trend has been seen sported around cities causing a street-style buzz, and during Fashion Week since the beginning of 2019. So, is it possible that this piece of clothing has made it out of the gym and into fashionable everyday attire? Yes, and we’re impressed at how it’s being styled. A paneled bike short in floral jacquard by designer Rachel Comey as part of the latest collection - this athleisure trend has got us shopping at both the sports and fashion sections at department stores! Let’s start with the most casual, and the most obvious look; the only way to really pull this off is to do it just right! Bike shorts with an oversized jacket and sneakers – this post-gym look has been seen on Hailey Baldwin, a.k.a. Hailey Bieber, with her signature low messy bun. Next up, our personal favorite - the bike shorts and blazer combo! Now that’s one that we’re dying to try out, with a pair of heels to complete the look. Opt for a pinstripe bike shorts for a stylish yet refined look or go all monochrome and style it with a long flowy colorful jacket. A minimalistic approach would be to match textured bike shorts with a wellfitted button-down shirt. While these outfits would not fall under the classiest of attires and definitely not one for the office, these style-savvy trends are both fun and challenging, and a must try when going out with the girls! flower crowns and opt for fun 1990s inspired oversized hair clips instead. They can add a summery feel to any basic outfit, and the best part is you can ditch the blowout! Print: Tbh, if you told us last year that we would be coveting a leopard print or a bold geometric for beachside attire, we wouldn’t have believed you! And yet here we are, loving this trend! It creates a beautiful juxtaposition to any tan and will set you apart from the linen wearing throngs. Oversized/Undersized: This trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, and we are super happy with that. There is a lot of fun to be had with mixing proportions from oversized headgear to a micro bag. We absolutely love it! Rainbow Life: One cannot resist the siren call of a rainbow in 2019! From jewelry (Arkay) to shoes (Liudmilla) go for the full spectrum or keep it tonal with this season’s favorite colors: vibrant green and lilac.

The onset of summer typically translates to a bit of traveling, and if you’re anything like us, packing for summer OOTDs can cause quite some last-minute panic! That’s why we’re breaking down the biggest summer trends you can be sure will pack a punch to any summer wardrobe (and suitcase)! Hair Accessories: It’s undeniable that hair has been getting quite a bit of attention this season… but forgo

Shame-free: Our absolute favorite trend of the season and a MUST PACK… it’s ‘body confidence’! That’s right, embracing your imperfections and loving your body is the absolute most significant trend in 2019. That means, yes, you can and should wear that crop top athletic set you have been eyeing. It’s hot outside and so are you! Raffia Life: Raffia used to be relegated to making it illogically tricky trying to pack oversized hats, but now it’s trending on everything from earrings to shoes! Nothing says summer quite like this material, and there is something so definitively seasonal that we cannot resist it in all its new and cute permutations. the talk - page 21

A gemstone or two, please! Your valuable collection of jewels, including precious and semi-precious gemstones, surely must be one of your most sacred prized possessions. What, you may ask, are considered to be precious stones? Diamonds, rubies, sapphires, and emeralds. They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but nowadays girls are opting for gemstones more and more - whether it’s a pair of earrings or a ring to match, perhaps, her collection of bracelets. We’re seeing cluster earrings with diamonds and sapphires, and, in particular, we’re loving the emerald stud with a diamond frame. The options are endless, and it all comes down to your own personal style. Mix and match your favorite gemstones with diamonds to dress up your jewelry box.

When it comes to mixing and matching, we’ve all noticed a penchant for gemstones in jewelry designs these past few years. Since 2018 we have been witnessing the latest “rainbow” trend being sported on runways and on the streets. This trend has followed us into 2019, and it also looks like it’s here to stay. Are you curious about what the rainbow trend is? It’s a mix of colorful gemstones, beautifully collaborated into one single piece of jewelry. Whether it’s a tennis bracelet or a ring, this piece can add a complementary color element to your neutral ensemble and wardrobe and yet be a classic piece that won’t go out of style. Play around with your preferred gemstones and don’t restrict yourself to something specific. Figure out your personal style, and invest in a piece that will forever be your favorite. the talk - page 25

Boucheron Quatre and Serpent Bohème The Serpent Bohème collection was born fifty years ago and is now one of the icons of the House. A protective animal and a symbol of infinity, the snake is also an emblem for free and independent individuals. Because the Boucheron woman likes to have fun with codes, dictates, and fashions.

Over time, the pieces of the collection have been transformed to grace those who wear them. In 2017, Serpent Bohème turned to color by adorning itself with new gemstones, and last spring, the collection introduced new variations into its repertoire. Combined with yellow gold and diamonds, turquoise is enhanced in the nine powerful creations that make up the new Serpent Bohème collection: two rings, including the two-stone model Toi et Moi with its two turquoises facing each other; two pendants (small and medium motifs); a small-motif bracelet; two models of earrings (small-model stud earrings and pendant earrings with four turquoises); two long necklaces, one with 6 motifs, the other with 16. the talk - page 27

Clip Art We’re bringing the 90s back. Can someone call Cher Horowitz for us, we’ll be needing some styling tips. We’ve all been sporting hair clips and barrettes throughout the years but never as big and flashy as they’re doing it on the runways this season. From pearly clips to metallic gold and silver, there’s a clip for every taste. Desiring the high-end look? Christian Dior and Gucci have got you covered in the clip department!

the talk - page 34

Whether you’re the type of gal that likes to pull her hair up or keep it down, this trend is for you. Curl the ends of your hair to create subtle waves and pull your hair to the back, clip on two maxi clips on each side under your ear for a classy approach. If you’d rather pull your hair up, then go for a middle part and pull your hair into a bun but not too high. Wear clips on one side, either at the side of the bun or under your ear below the bun. Style them as you like whether you’re into colors or patterns, there’s something for everyone in there.

Bronzing Queen Summer is here, and the natural beauty of the sea beckons us – and we gladly run towards the beach or tanning salons to get our tan on. But hold on, how many of us hate it when the tan fades away? Also, how many of us feel like their body has reached the perfect color, but their face tan isn’t how they thought it would be? There’s a solution, and we’re here to guide you through it. First, as soon as you plan to start tanning, moisturize moisturize moisturize beforehand! The more hydrated you are, the longer your tan is going to last. Also, do not forget to apply tan maximizing moisturizes to help decelerate the fading process. As for getting ready, for your face, apply a few drops of a darker foundation to your regular one to reach the perfect tone. Go only ONE shade darker when it comes to bronzer. Do not overdo applying bronzer to avoid turning into an Oompa Loompa. Next, the trick with highlighting is to use a liquid highlighter first on your cheekbones, upper bridge of the nose, on your cupids bow, and collar bones. Go for a golden-hued highlighter to bring out your tan even more. After, apply powder highlighter on top to set it. Be prepared to shine and glow post-vacation!

health - Tips

Hydration: Tips and Tricks to keep your H2O levels up this Summer Staying hydrated is tricky during the summertime with all the outdoor and beach activities. Your body tries to cool down by sweating, which makes you lose water, which is why most of our poolside snacks should be water based.

the talk - page 38

There are several ways to stay hydrated. First, we need to accept that hydration starts from the inside. Moisturizing your skin is very important, but if your body’s water level isn’t optimum, then there’s no point. Drink at least two liters of water daily; most of us sip on Americanos all day that we forget that coffee is a diuretic. To encourage yourself to drink more, infuse your water with something refreshing like mint, cucumber, slices of lemon or oranges. Amp up your style game by investing in a see-through water bottle which you can carry around to boost your hydration! Another way to slip in water is by eating it! How? Munch on water-rich foods such as watermelon, kiwi, tomatoes, and cucumbers. When it comes to sodium - it’s a tricky issue - too much salt is bad, too little is also bad. Limit your sodium intake to healthy mineral salts such as rock salt and Himalayan salt. Watch your water intake and stay healthy this summer.

Does traveling adversely affect the skin? Vacation season is almost here and everyone is busy making their travel plans, many people tend to forget their skincare in the midst of all the excitement. Change in the environment and exposure to different kind of weather conditions, and furthermore the oxidative stress of travel can create havoc on your skin. It is difficult to keep up with your normal skincare routine while traveling, and you will need to make adjustments to your skincare routine based on your itinerary. You have to follow a travel skincare regimen to keep your skin hydrated, healthy, and protected, in other words to keep your skin vacation-ready. What are the skin essentials to pack for a trip? Travel sized versions of your skin care products will particularly benefit you on the plane. Consider the weather at your destination while choosing your products. A thermal spring water based mist or spray comes very handy while traveling. Spritz your face with one of these from time to time during your trip. Carry makeup removing pads or towelettes if you don’t have time to go through your normal makeup cleansing routine. If you have acne-prone skin, don’t forget to carry your benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid based spot treatment cream. Whatever the weather condition at your travel destination don’t forget your sunscreen! How do you prepare your skin for a long-haul flight? Follow a pre-flight and in-flight skincare routine. Low humidity and cabin pressure while on an airplane can leave the talk - page 42

your skin dry and irritated. It’s important to keep your skin well moisturized prior to and during the flight. Cleanse with a gentle non-foaming cleanser and apply a hyaluronic acid based serum or cream. In addition to your moisturizer, your lip balm (with SPF) will be handy to prevent chapping of lips. Use a sunscreen as UV rays are more intense at high altitudes. Temporarily take a break from products that will further dry and irritate your skin like peeling creams and retinol based products. Drink plenty of fluids to keep yourself hydrated. What if I’m planning a beach vacation? If you are planning a beach holiday or are vacationing in a hot and humid place take steps to protect your skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays. This can be achieved by using a waterresistant broad spectrum sunscreen. Wear clothing made of light weight breathable fabrics. Use sunglasses with adequate coverage. Some medications and treatments make you more sensitive to sun exposure, so make sure you discuss with your dermatologist what you can and cannot use while traveling to a hot destination Any skincare tips prior to or during swimming? Before you take a dip in the pool or go swimming in the beach use a barrier cream and after you come out take a shower right away to wash off irritants like chlorine and other contaminants that may hamper the skin. After a shower immediately moisturize your skin to restore the hydration. To learn more about how to get your skin ready for the upcoming holidays and look amazing in those vacation photos, contact your dermatologist today!

Porsche’s new Macan S First drive in Kuwait

A fabulously engaging automobile, the Macan shows that a crossover can drive just like a sports car. Within its hood beats a turbocharged V6 of a nominal 3 litres. It’s got a very usable 354 HP on tap, and remember this the new Macan is equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Our Zeina Mokaddam became the first of our team to put it to the test on Kuwait’s roads. And she picked quite a road to trial it on – the all-new Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway… one of the longest bridges in the world.

the talk - page 46

First and foremost, the Macan is a crossover with sporting intentions. How does it match up? Well, the ‘S’version is as quick as some two-door Porsches, it’s got a super-sharp gearshift and powerful brakes to match. So, it is a sports car? Yes, and more. A highlight of the Macan goes beyond performance figures. This is a car that cannot fairly be quantified by numbers – its true measure can only be calibrated by experiencing its all-around competence on the road. The ride is blissfully smooth and carefully controlled. The Macan’s purposeful attitude in corners makes it feel stable and planted. The steering is a little lighter than in most of Porsche’s sports cars, but it is highly responsive and delivers plenty of feel. Driven hard, to a blindfold passenger this Macan responds like a top-ranked sports sedan and its performance would be indistinguishable from many other most overtly ‘sporty’ cars.

There are ways in which the Macan differs… Its higher seating position gives a better all-round view (all the better for looking over the edge of the bridge, and see Kuwait Bay almost too far below for my total comfort). It’ll take your partner, the kids, the shopping, and a set of golf clubs. Porsche’s infotainment system can be yours with all manner of high-tech features, and the Macan can be owned with a wide array of driver-assistance technology, which are optional for your selection. However, key features you should look out for include standard lanedeparture warning; automated emergency braking; and adaptive cruise control. Almost 5 years have passed since the 1st generation Macan was unveiled. This facelifted generation Macan brings the model up-to-date with the evolution of the brand. Its exterior styling is in line with the latest version of the iconic 911. Styling cues don’t make you go faster, but they do make you look like you belong.
