48 Hours of Volleyball

Issue 1

The Kettering chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha will be holding their annual philanthropy event, 48 Hours of Volleyball, during second weekend ( July 22–24). The event, which has enjoyed rousing success in previous years, starts on Friday at 6 pm and benefits the Genesee County Catholic Charities, an organization that operates many local food banks. While the 48-hour volleyball tournament is the focus of the weekend, the event will also feature a silent auction, car wash, and live performances by local bands Adelade and Get Home Safe on Friday and Saturday evening. Teams interested in participating can either visit Lambda Chi Alpha during lunch in the Great Court, or call Myke Taylor at (248) 462-5862. The fraternity will be accepting donations for the Genesee County Catholic Charities in the Great Court during all of second week.

Kettering Partners with Lecom

By Patricia Mroczek Chief Public Relations Officer, Kettering University

Kettering University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Lecom) signed an agreement June 14 allowing Kettering students to complete their medical or pharmaceutical education at the largest medical school in the country. The agreement guarantees Kettering five seats for pre-med students to enter Lecom’s College of Osteopathic Medicine and five seats to enter Lecom’s School of Pharmacy per entering class. U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Medical Colleges Guide” ranks Lecom as fifth in the nation for graduating primary care physicians and second in the U.S. for lowest tuition among private medical schools. Lecom’s Dr. Christine S. Kell, Ph.D., associate dean of preclinical education, and John Wojtkielewicz, facilitator/admissions associate, joined Kettering Provost Robert Simpson, faculty members Dr. Stacy Seeley and Dr. Patrick Atkinson and Kristen Russell, a sophomore pre-med major from Pennsylvania, at the signing ceremony. “This is a significant advancement for Kettering’s pre-med and pharmacy program,” Kettering Provost Robert
