Biology Comes to Kettering By Matthew White Assistant Editor

quite remarkable that Kettering, a stem institution, has not had a biology program yet. At most schools, he says, bioloDr. Robert Simspson gy is one of the largest stem programs. A biologist himself, he is excited to be a part of the new program’s genesis. Within six years, Dr. Simpson expects the University to host at least 200 students in the program. The funds provided by the Mott Foundation will enable the University to hire the necessary faculty for the program until it becomes self-sustaining.

On August 13, students, faculty, staff, and community members met on the lawn in front of campus to accept a donation of $15.5 million from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. In a speech to the Kettering community, Dr. Robert McMahan touched upon the area of the campus that would be affected by the Dr. Robert McMahan at grant. Calling all Students Over the next week, Kettering students will have the opportunity to have their voices heard and listen to the thoughts of hopeful candidates. On Thursday from 6–8, The Technician will host a Student Forum in the Cribathon. Students will be given the opportunity to speak about topics that concern them and help direct The Technician in its reporting over the rest of the term. Kettering Student Government will be hosting a Presidential Debate for its prospective candidates on August 21 at 8pm in McKinnon Theater. Students are invited to submit questions beforehand to Matthew White at whit8024@kettering.edu. Questions will also be accepted at the event.
