As each anniversary passes, our confidence in the product we offer increases. We are fiercely proud of the Citywing brand. Thank you for choosing Citywing to fly today and we look forward to seeing you on-board again soon.
At the start of this year we recommenced our service between Cardiff and Anglesey airports after a successful tender application with our aviation partner, Van Air. The contract is currently until September of this year and we are now busy preparing the next tender in preparation for submission soon. Our marketing campaign for 2016 is centred largely around the internet and social media. On our Facebook page we will be highlighting any competitions, special offers and deals – so do “like” the page to keep up to date with us. TT Week on the Isle of Man is approaching fast and with an additional aircraft, we have been able to offer more flights to our Visitors. It’s the busiest 2 week period of the year for Citywing and I’m proud to be part of a team who really pull together to make this incredibly hectic time a success each year.

Business Tourism Blackpool not only offers you a wonderful place for a holiday, but is also the perfect setting for you and your colleagues to do business
>

Blackpool is not only the UK’s favourite seaside resort but also the home of a growing business tourism sector. Each year the resort welcomes in excess of 45,000 business visitors. Major conferences are held each year in some truly wonderful settings, such as the Winter Gardens and at our many high quality hotels.
What now?
Mandy Tythe-McCallum, Tourism Manager at VisitBlackpool, said: “The resort’s offer to those choosing Blackpool as a place for business is as unique and as vibrant as ever.
The VisitBlackpool Business Tourism team can help you arrange everything from venue hire and accommodation to va va voom entertainment, making your conference much more memorable.
“With a huge array of venues, from traditional hotels to the Victorian setting of the Winter Gardens, there really is no other destination that can offer so much.”
Recent investment totalling more than £350m has contributed to the new seven miles of Promenade and a new state-of-the-art tramway – allowing delegates and visitors to commute from hotels and venues and to the town centre and attractions with ease.
VisitBlackpool wants you to spread the word to your business colleagues about how Blackpool has changed. The resort has been the beneficiary of a regeneration plan worth more than £350m and your help is needed to spread the great news to event organisers past and present.
Venues Blackpool as a business destination has an impressive list of venues and hotels, and in our new conference and meetings guide we’ve been very lucky to have had the expertise of local professional photographer Sean Conboy. Sean has taken some amazing shots of our venues as well as destination images and agreed to be a business ambassador by featuring on the cover.
This is the second year we’ve been lucky enough to have a ‘local boy’ feature in the guide, these professional ambassadors do an amazing job for the town by raising the awareness of what Blackpool has to offer. The images show how stunning some of our venues “If you’re a member of an association or really are. No other destination can offer as much as Blackpool can, working with if you sit on a committee and think Blackpool would be the ideal destination quality accredited venues allows us to assure you of the best attention at all for your annual conference, dinner, team building or just a social weekend times. Mandy added: “The great thing about Blackpool is the variety of venues and the numbers the resort can cater for, from two to 5,000, so whatever the size of your organisation Blackpool can help you make it happen.
away, then let the VisitBlackpool team show you round and open your eyes to Blackpool for Business.”

CITYWING TO OVERSEE CONTINUATION OF VITAL WELSH AIR LINK
Citywing will continue to provide the customer interface for a vital air link between Anglesey and Cardiff following the agreement of a new seven-month contract. After previous operator Links Air decided to cease delivering the service without notice, Citywing stepped in to ensure an interim service was maintained. It has now been announced that the company will continue to help provide the service for at least a further seven months, while a full tender process for a longer-term contract to operate the service is conducted.
8
Citywing will continue to provide the ticketing and marketing of the service, with flights operated by the contract holder Van Air, a wellestablished operator that already serves a number of UK airports, under the new contract. Transport Minister Edwina Hart said: ‘Despite some recent difficulties, the Welsh Government has acted quickly to ensure that there has been no break in service to this important transport link. We will work closely with the new operator to promote the air service, which has seen strong growth in passenger numbers in the past year. ‘To further support the service’s long term future, I recently commissioned a study looking at the potential
opportunities to expand activities at Anglesey Airport. I am expecting to receive a draft report from this work in the next few months.’ The popular air link has made a visit to the Welsh capital a short hop from Anglesey, as well as improving access to the north for travellers from the south of Wales. The connection has enhanced business connections by offering a viable alternative to rail and road travel, as well as giving tourists greater choice, which prices starting from as little as £19.99. Citywing Managing Director David Buck said: ‘Our focus is on providing community-connecting services at affordable prices and a schedule which gives travellers real choice. We understand the importance of the link between Anglesey and Cardiff, and were quick to offer our services to ensure the connection was maintained when Links Air ceased its operation. ‘The new agreement, which will see Van Air operate flights, secures the immediate future of the route and we hope to see the long term settled soon to provide certainty to both the business and leisure passengers who use the service.’ Passengers can now book tickets for the Anglesey-Cardiff route at: www.citywing.com or by calling 0871 200 0440
Citywing has fares starting from as low as £19.95, including all taxes and charges, all year round. Visit our website www.citywing.com for full information and to keep up to date with our latest news.

CITYWING ANNOUNCES TWO NOMINATED CHARITIES FOR 2016 Citywing is delighted to name Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man and Craig‘s Heartstrong Foundation as its joint Charities of the Year for 2016. Due to an overwhelming response from local charities applying to be its Charity of the Year, Citywing took the decision to offer support to not one but two organisations this year. Both of the Isle of Man-based charities will receive 12 return tickets to use for fundraising during the year on any Citywing routes to and from the Island, the donation of proceeds from the popular annual ‘Plane Pull’ event, and the chance to show a promotional video on Citywing flights. Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man is a confidential bereavement support service that promotes the wellbeing of bereaved people, and offers support to anyone bereaved to help understand their grief and cope with their loss. Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation was set up by family and friends of Craig Lunt, a young Manx footballer who died in 2005 due to an undiagnosed heart defect. The charity raises funds to enable heart screening of people aged 14-35 on the Island, and to purchase and donate lifesaving defibrillator equipment to local schools and sports clubs. David Buck, Managing Director of Citywing, said: ‘We received a huge number of Charity of the Year applications this year from a variety of worthy causes, which made it very difficult for us to choose just one. We are very pleased to be able to support two local charities for 2016, and excited to be working with both Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man and Craig‘s Heartstrong Foundation in a number of ways throughout the year.
left to right: Les Watson and Amanda Cafaero of Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man, Donna Sloane, Sales and Marketing Manager at Citywing, Paula Lunt and Paul Healey of Craig‘s Heartstrong Foundation. ‘Both of these charities contribute enormously to the wellbeing of our Island’s community, and we are honoured to assist in raising funds for and awareness of their services to help ensure that they continue. It is both a responsibility and a pleasure for us, as a local business, to support the important work the charity sector carries out in the Isle of Man.’ Les Watson, Chairman at Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man, said: ‘Our charity is delighted to have been selected as Citywing’s joint Charity of the Year for 2016. We look forward to working with Citywing to help us raise awareness and important funds, so that we can continue to help bereaved people in the Isle of Man.’ Paul Healey, Chairman at Craig‘s Heartstrong Foundation, added: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as one of the charities that Citywing will support during 2016. We would like to thank them for their support, not only for us, but for all the charities that they help each year. We will ensure that all money raised for Craig‘s Heartstrong Foundation will continue to be put to good use here on the Isle of Man.’
Citywing’s Charity of the Year for 2015 was Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, which funds nursing staff to provide a ‘Hospice at Home’ service in the Isle of Man. Ron Spencer, Chairman of Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, said: ‘The enthusiastic team at Citywing were a fantastic help to us as the chosen charity for 2015. The Plane Pull was a particularly great success, and was a fun way for the community to get involved with the charity.
9
‘We are thrilled that this partnership helped to both raise funds for and awareness of our charity throughout 2015, and would like to thank Citywing for their invaluable support and personal commitment. We wish them well for their continued community efforts during 2016.’

DID YOU KNOW? Dolphins can hear sounds underwater from 15 miles away. If you run in the rain, you will get about 50% wetter than if you stand still. Some Butterflies‘ ears are on their wings. A hippopotamus may seem huge but it can still run faster than a man! The trickiest tongue twister in the English language is apparently “Sixth sick sheik’s sixth sheep’s sick“. Give it a try and see for yourself!

It‘s easy to understand why Jersey is a favourite destination for visitors both young and old. Family friendly and perfect for outdoor pursuits, Jersey continues to pride itself on its renowned reputation...
Dining
Fresh seafood, quality country pubs and Michelin-starred restaurants mean Jersey is a great place for eating out. Whether you‘re tucking into steaming calamari, pan-seared veal or steak and chips, chances are it‘ll be delicious.
Elizabeth Castle
In St Helier, admire Elizabeth Castle (www. jerseyheritagetrust.org), which stands on an island in the bay, accessible by a causeway at low tide. This imposing fortress withstood Cromwell‘s forces for seven weeks in 1651, and housed occupying Germans during WWII.
Golf
Jersey has two famous 18-hole golf courses: La Moye in St Brelade and Royal Jersey in Grouville (www. royaljersey.com). Both require proof of handicap or membership in a recognised club. Anyone can play at 18-hole Les Mielles or Les Ormes and nine-hole Wheatlands or Greve D‘Azette.
12
Hamptonne
Mont Orgeuil Castle
See the mighty Mont Orgeuil Castle at Gorey, as well as a number of restored military bunkers dotted along the coast. Museums Also in St Helier, wander along Fort Regent‘s ramparts and go to the award-winning Jersey Museum, the Maritime Museum and the Occupation Tapestry Gallery.
Walking
The north has the highest land and most rugged scenery, but gentler walks are possible inland and in the south. One suggested route round the island follows the line of the old Jersey Railway which runs from St Aubin to the lighthouse at Corbière on the island‘s southwestern tip.
Watersports
Watersports such as windsurfing and water skiing are best attempted at one of the island‘s most popular and beautiful beaches, St Brelade‘s Bay, west of St Aubin.
West coast surfing
Explore this restored traditional farm, representing Jersey‘s farming heritage between 17th-19th centuries. Walk round the thatched buildings and hear tales from Hamptonne‘s collection of characters.
Visitors rave about the surfing found on the west coast; particularly off the sweeping 8km (5-mile) sandy beach on St Ouen‘s Bay.
Jersey War Tunnels
Pay a visit to the Jersey War Tunnels (www. jerseywartunnels.com); an underground hospital that now contains displays on and memorabilia from WWII. The tunnel complex was hewn out of the rock by forced labour during the occupation of Jersey by German Forces.
Jersey Zoological Park
Discover many endangered species at the Jersey Zoological Park, in Trinity, the headquarters of the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust (www. durrellwildlife.org), founded by the late Gerald Durrell.
La Hougue Bie
This museum housed in a massive neolithic tomb in Grouville dates back 5,000 years and has exhibitions on the agriculture, archaeology, geology and history of the island.

One of the best ways to explore our Island’s continual coastline, valleys and uplands is on foot and whatever time of year you choose to visit, we have a range of walks to suit all ages and abilities.

Scale the scenic path of Peel Hill, climbing up to Corrin's Folly at the summit, its path will take you into the clouds. Sit in the sunshine at the top of the hill and watch basking sharks laze in the inky waters below. Take a path at random, follow it and pause to admire breathtaking waterfalls or explore a ruined Victorian watermill, before descending towards the sea beneath a canopy of trees, with ferns and aromatic wild garlic growing on the riverbank. The spine of the Island mainly consists of springygrass moorland, while the coastline is punctuated with cliffs, chasms and coves.

Head towards the cliff-top path around the south-west corner of the Island, with wonderful views across the Sound to the Calf of Man, an uninhabited islet. Wherever you wander you’ll see spectacular scenery in all directions and views dotted on the horizon of all four Kingdoms including Ireland’s Mountains of Mourne, the Cumbrian Mountains of the Lake District and the Welsh Mountains of Snowdonia, the toughest decision you will have to make is where do you start.

VisitBlackpool wants you to spread the word to your business colleagues about how Blackpool has changed. The resort has been the beneficiary of a regeneration plan worth more than £350m and your help is needed to spread the great news to event organisers past and present.
“With a huge array of venues, from traditional hotels to the Victorian setting of the Winter Gardens, there really is no other destination that can offer so much.”
Recent investment totalling more than £350m has contributed to the new seven miles of Promenade and a new state-of-the-art tramway – allowing delegates and visitors to commute from hotels and venues and to the town centre and attractions with ease.

Meurig Bowen said: “As Festival Director it’s a privilege to able to be able to programme such a diverse range of classical music in so many stunning venues across the county. “This year I’ve been able to focus on cultural and historic events as diverse as the Somme and Yehudi Menuhin centenaries, the 400th anniversary of Simon Callow Shakespeare’s death and the 150th birthday of eccentric French composer Erik Satie’s, whose popular Gymnopedie No 1 will be familiar to all.

The work of many established and venerable composers, such as Louis Andriessen, Steve Reich, Thomas Ades, James MacMillan, Sally Beamish, Judith Weir, MarkAnthony Turnage and Michael Berkeley, is also featured alongside the fourth edition of Cheltenham’s weeklong Composer Academy, whose new director for 2016 will be Michael Zev Gordon. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Erik Satie’s birth, the programme includes an all-night relay performance by dozens of pianists of his famous ‘Vexations’, a theatre piece investigating Satie’s life and music written by Festival Director Meurig Bowen, and a ‘Keyboard Inventions’ series that features avatars, synths, animation, wearable tech, new scores for old films and an inside-out pendulum piano.

“The result is a wonderfully wide-ranging, multi-layered and entertaining Festival.” Other performance highlights include Ex Cathedra performing James MacMillan’s 2015 Last Judgement work, Seven Angels, in Tewkesbury Abbey; a four-concert focus on Schubert’s major chamber works with the Carducci Quartet, James Gilchrist and Guy Johnston; and a double-bill featuring Will Gregory’s Moog Ensemble and the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. Cheltenham Music Festival’s longstanding track record of promoting new and British music continues in 2016 with more than 20 world premieres. These include a new piano work for Melvyn Tan by Jonathan Dove, a concerto for upright piano and electronics by Dave Maric, a new double concerto by Christian Lindberg for himself and Evelyn Glennie, and the first public performance of Herbert Howells’ Cello Concerto, with its newly completed final movement.
As well as War Horse author Michael Morpurgo, families can attend an illustrated concert with James Mayhew (Katie stories, Ella Bella Ballerina) who’ll be telling Shakespeare stories and painting live to Shakespearean music by Mendelssohn and Prokofiev, as well as enjoy puppetry and physical theatre from Box Tale Soup as they tumble into A Midsummer Night’s Dream. There’s also lots of free music and activities over the weekends. Visit cheltenhamfestivals.com/music for full information.
