Dallas continues to experience record breaking temperatures, and with your help we are working hard at UGM Dallas to create additional space and outdoor cooling stations to help as many as possible out of this dangerous heat. Galatians 5:14 reminds us “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” People experiencing tough times are our neighbors. Thank you for fulfilling God’s call on your life to reach out to them with love, compassion and the hope the Gospel.
117,760 Nights Stay 472,360 Meals Served
Your compassion and support during the scorching summer days is greatly appreciated. This support provides the monetary resources needed to provide nourishing meals and a safe place to sleep in cool conditions as opposed to outside. Your gifts are housing more individuals, which increases the number of meals served as well as an increase in utility costs in order to maintain a cool environment for them to find refuge.

BRUCE BUTLER, CEO Chief Executive OfficerUGM Dallas has partnered with the Oasis Center to provide forklift training and OSHA certification for members of our Discipleship Program. We recently celebrated the accomplishments of several disciples, 9 men and 2 ladies, who either received forklift training and/ or OSHA certification. We are so proud of all our disciples for putting in the hard work to receive their certifications. Thus far, one of the graduate men is now employed where his primary job consists of operating a forklift.
At UGM Dallas, transforming lives begins with a changed heart that leads to a changed life. Part of that transformation includes equipping disciples with a skill set that makes them marketable as they seek employment. We are continually seeking businesses and business leaders who are willing to invest in training and hiring those who have fallen on hard times and are seeking opportunities to lead an independent life. UGM Dallas, together with volunteers from AT&T, Covenant Church Carrollton, Park Cities Presbyterian Church and with the financial support of our donors, worked to assemble and install StepUP Beds at the homeless center. In a compassionate effort to improve the lives of Dallas’s homeless population, the new bedding system not only offers a better night’s sleep but also provides easier accessibility for guests with physical challenges, more safety from viruses and space for personal belongings.
Sleeping on the streets or in crowded shelters is not only uncomfortable but can also be mentally and physically exhausting. As part of our ongoing commitment to serving the homeless, UGM Dallas recognizes that adequate rest can make a significant
difference in a person’s overall outlook and ability to navigate the challenges they face daily. The StepUP Beds provide a more comfortable and supportive sleeping surface and therefore improves to their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
The beds are designed to promote safety, accessibility, and privacy. They will provide more safety from viruses and disease that tend to spread in close quarters. Anyone who can climb 3 steps will be able to utilize the top area. With the enclosed design, each resident will be afforded more privacy, which is a part of basic human dignity.
Another important feature of the StepUP Beds is the inclusion of storage compartments. Homeless individuals often struggle with the limited space available to store their personal belongings, which can lead to stress and anxiety. The introduction
of these beds provides a dedicated area where individuals can securely store their possessions, eliminating the constant worry of losing them.
“The installation of the StepUP Beds would not have been possible without the selfless dedication of volunteers. These individuals generously offered their time and efforts to assemble and set up the beds, ensuring that they were ready for use,” commented Bruce Butler, CEO of UGM Dallas. “Their commitment and compassion have made a significant impact on the lives of the homeless population. The involvement of dedicated volunteers showcases the power of community support in bringing about positive change.”
UGM Dallas continues to make a meaningful impact, demonstrating that even small steps can create significant transformations in the lives of those in need.
Kindu came to Dallas and knew that if he could just find shelter - he would be alright. He searched for shelters and found Union Gospel Mission Dallas. “I thought that sounds like gospel, that is the Word, the good news. While being here, I have been reminded that God has given everyone a purpose, a mission, skills and talents. We are to live in our purpose.”
We see people from all walks of life…from people who were bankers, investors or owned their own business to others who never knew their father, grew up in a system of prison and incarceration … some who grew up with no hope.
At UGM Dallas, we recognize that anybody may need shelter or a meal. We are also the place where they can meet Jesus. “God works through His people. UGM is important to our community because it shows people there is hope. There is something worth living for.”
She is an ordinary 28 year old girl, but she was homeless.
“I’m just like a ‘regular’ person, I just didn’t have a support system around me when I needed it.” So many homeless people are just like Angie. They are regular people, working jobs, going to school but they just need a little extra help and support.
“I didn’t know whether to sleep or watch my daughter sleep because the streets are not safe. I didn’t know where our next meal would come from.”
Angie is thankful for the safety she found at UGM Center of Hope Women & Children’s Center. She is able to rely on the childcare center to care for her daughter while she attends classes and looks for a job.
Angie and her daughter found a second chance at UGM Dallas. She now has a support system that is not only providing for her physical needs but is also sharing the love of Christ with her.

Compassion should drive us to rethink the way we approach homelessness. We must strive to understand the circumstances that lead individuals to live on the streets and empathize with their struggles. By putting ourselves in their shoes, we can truly grasp the urgency of the situation and work towards finding viable solutions.
Every dollar you give to UGM Dallas helps transform lives to end homelessness one person at a time.

IT’S BEEN A HOT SUMMER. We want to thank all of our supporters for rallying and coming to the aid of the homeless on our streets. We’ve been able to welcome the homeless, offer a cold drink and share the hope of Jesus. We could not do this without you.
As we continue to experience record heat, the lack of access to shelter puts the homeless at great risk of heat-related illnessess and dehydration.
At UGM Dallas, we believe that together, we can make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. Your support is vital in ensuring that we can continue to extend our outreach and offer a helping hand to those who need it most.
Please visit UGMDallas.org/donate to make a contribution or find more information on how you can help. We deeply appreciate your unwavering compassion and dedication to our cause.
A year after Mara Soriano’s mother died, the Vancouver resident lost a teddy bear that played a recorded message in her mom’s voice. When word of the bear’s disappearance reached a famous actor on social media, he offered a $5,000 reward. Within days, the stuffed animal was returned.
Our society talks a lot about “good vibes.” We love hearing inspiring stories and we feel good when we give or serve. But many of us want to do much more than give a little and “feel good.”
What if you could give, make an impact, and get much more than “good vibes” in return? A Charitable Gift
Annuity (CGA) lets you do just that. It’s a Win-WinWin.
A CGA is a contract made between a donor and a charity like Union Gospel Mission Dallas. The donor makes a gift to the organization with cash, securities, or possibly other assets, and gets these benefits in return:
• Fixed, reliable payments for life
• An immediate charitable tax deduction
• Partially tax-free income
• Ability to avoid capital gains (when giving appreciated stock)
We’ve all heard “It is more blessed to give than to receive,” and when we give in ways that align with our personal values, it feels even sweeter.
