PET NEWS
A DOG WALK IS MORE THAN JUST A WALK! Your dog’s walks are likely the highlight of his day. It’s more than just a bathroom break. It can give him physical exercise, mental stimulation and a chance to keep tabs on the neighborhood. Humans have 5 or 6 million scent receptors in the nose, but dogs have up to 300 million depending on the breed. Their Jacobson’s organ helps them detect normally undetectable odors such as pheromones. This amazing sense of smell is at least 10,000 times greater than any human making it almost impossible for us to comprehend.
scratch adding even more impact to the scent mark. I have personally had some good laughs over the years of my pet sitting/dog walking when pups do the scratch routine and I end up covered in grass and/or dirt! I have learned to step aside and let them to their “thing” before scooping the poop! So... next time you take your pup for a walk, try a little bit of patience as they explore and leave their mark!
We may advise a friend to stop and smell the roses, but we often hurry our pups to move along during a walk. I am just as guilty of this as many. I am definitely a fast walker, but have learned to slow down and give him some “sniff time”! Where dogs choose to go to the bathroom is often big decision. It’s not just about relieving himself. It’s about communicating with the world at large! Dogs use their urine to signal their presence to other dogs and in turn, the urine can give information about other pups such as gender, age and health. They love to sniff out all of the places other pups have gone to the bathroom so that they can leave a fresh deposit on top as if to say “Rover was here!” Male pups will specifically lift their back leg as high as possible to get their urine up to the nose level of other dogs. As if the urine and feces isn’t enough, dogs sometimes scratch the ground with all fours to further emphasize their signal. Along with leaving an additional visual cue, they use special glands between their toes to leave extra scents on the ground as they

They each serve a specific purpose, so in order to extend the life of these tools, please use them accordingly. Upon arriving at your wet court, please use a roller or pull squeegee to spread out the large amounts of collected water. The BATT towels are to be used once the water has been dispersed to help dry the court in a more efficient manner. Please watch this quick video on the proper way to use the BATT towel here: https:// battowel.com/video Please remember to hang the squeegees and BATT towels back up on the inside of the fence when you have finished using them.
