SQUEEGEES & BATT TOWELS ARE HERE FOR YOUR RAINY-DAY RELIEF

NEED TO RESERVE A COURT?

As the winter weather is upon us, please remember there are multiple tools at our courts to help dry your courts. They each serve a specific purpose, so in order to extend the life of these tools, please use them accordingly. Upon arriving at your wet court, please use a roller or pull squeegee to spread out the large amounts of collected water. The BATT towels are to be used once the water has been dispersed to help dry the court in a more efficient manner. Please watch this quick video on the proper way to use the BATT towel here: https://battowel.com/video

All reservations should be made on your phone at Kourts.com. This app allows you to make court reservations, as well as reserving your spot and paying online for Bobby’s drill sessions. Please remember to hang the squeegees and BATT towels back up on the inside of the fence when you have finished using them.

COMMUNITY NEWS

FREQUENT VIOLATION REMINDERS CLICK HERE TO REPORT A VIOLATION

Spring is in the Air What does that mean? It’s time for the 4 P’s of home ownership. It’s time to get outside and take a 360 walk around your home. What do you see? Is your Paint fading or peeling? Do you need a fresh coat? Is your driveway and sidewalk filthy and moldy? How about a good ole fashion Pressure washing? Let’s not forget landscaping. Now is the time to Prune trees and trim overgrown bushes. Additionally, it is time for that spring application of Pine straw (mulching material). As we head into spring these are a few areas we will be looking at during our covenant inspections. Make sure you don’t receive one of those pesky notices by being proactive and checking off those maintenance items now. • EXTERIOR PAINTING - IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU MIGHT THINK You can save a lot on the extent of necessary painting and repairs by catching failure early. Keep a close eye out for spider cracks, fading, and on the overall health of your older paint in particular. (** Please remember all painting projects require prior approval/an ARC application must be submitted) • PRESSURE WASHING Did you know that routine pressure washing will increase the lifespan of your paint and stain? And, it can transform your exterior surfaces, washing away corrosive residues, mold, mildew, and more from your deck, patio, walkways, driveway, and siding. • Pine straw & Mulch Pine straw & Mulch –there are many benefits to using pine straw as natural garden mulch. First and foremost, pine straw is a natural by-product; meaning pine straw is discarded by pine trees naturally. Pine needles (straw) help provide excellent growing conditions for healthy trees, plants and shrubs. Here are some benefits of pine straw and mulch installation besides the appearance. 6

May 2022

• Pine straw and mulch installation are essential to the survival of your landscape during a drought. They will reduce the amount of water that evaporates from your soil, greatly reducing your need to water your plants. • Pine straw and mulch improve the quality of your soil by breaking up clay and allowing better water and air movement through the soil. Also, mulch provides nutrients to sandy soil and improves its ability to hold water. • Pine straw and mulch act as an insulating layer on top of soil, keeping it cooler in the summer. • Pine straw and mulch keep weeds down, and the weeds that do grow are much easier to pull. • They are also a great deterrent against weeds, insects, and rodent free. • Pruning Landscape Trees Proper pruning of landscape trees improves their structural strength, maintains their health, enhances their beauty, and increases their value. Why Should Trees Be Pruned? Pruning is advisable if: • trees have crossing branches, weak branch unions, or other defects • branches are dead, dying, decayed, or hazardous • lower branches interfere with people or vehicles, or block visibility of signs • branches are growing into buildings or utility wires • limbs have been broken by storms • trees have grown too large and might injure people or damage property Landscape trees not only make homes and communities more beautiful, but they also improve our environment and can increase the value of a property up to 20 percent. Trees are truly assets that need to be enhanced and protected. Proper pruning is definitely a worthwhile investment!

PET TIPS

LET’S LEARN ABOUT GOLDENDOODLES I don’t know about you, but I see more and more Goldendoodles and have been curious about this breed. They are a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They have the ultimate combo of good looks, smart wits, playfulness and are known to be hypoallergenic. Nicknames are Doodle, Groodle or Goldenpoo. They are ideal for families due to their extreme friendliness and social personality. They vary in fur types, color and size.

4. MAKE THE BEST PLAYMATES Playing fetch and frisbee are favorite games for this breed. They are very social and prefer to be near their owners. They will definitely be a buddy for life!

Below are some additional interesting facts about Goldendoodles: 1. DESIGNER BREED Relatively new dog breed first appearing in American in the 1990’s and officially given their name in 1992. They are considered a “designer breed” because each of their parents is a purebred, but different breeds from each other. The mix is perfect. Poodles don’t shed and are very athletic and intelligent while Golden Retrievers are lovable and playful family pups. 2. GOT ALLERGIES? Some Goldendoodles are hypoallergenic and most don’t even shed making them great for people with allergies or those sick of vacuuming! It’s important to realize, however, that all dogs have dander (dead skin cells, saliva and urine) where allergens exist, so there is no guarantee a Goldendoodle won’t set off an allergic reaction. 3. NATURAL ATHLETE Doodles are great for active families because they are energetic and very playful. Long walks, runs and hikes are right down their alley! On the other hand, they love to cuddle and enjoy lazy time on the sofa next to you.

5. EXTREMELY FRIENDLY Most Goldendoodles are known to become fast friends with children, other dog breeds, and even cats (if the cat allows!) In addition, they often don’t even bark at the door so if you prefer peace and quiet, this is your dog! 6. ONE OF 3 FUR TYPES Genes can affect their fur type. They could have straight, wavy or curly hair. This means there is no one specific way to groom them. Some require a lot more maintenance. Your vet or groomer may advise you on the best method. 7. LOVE WATER Most Doodles love water whether at the lake, beach or in your own backyard pool. Of course, keep a close

eye on them and remember, doggy life preservers are advised. Just watch out when they decide to shake off that water!! 8. VARY IN COLOR AND SIZE They come in various colors - orange, cream, dark brown, gray and black. They typically weight between 50-100 pounds and have a life span estimated at 10-15 years. However, there are miniature Goldendoodles, as well. Instead of being bred with a Standard Poodle, they are bred with a toy poodle to create a pint sized pup. These Mini Doodles are just adorable! 9. IDEAL SERVICE PETS The combination of Poodle intelligence and Golden Retriever obedience makes this breed a wonderful service animal. They are the perfect guide or therapy dog and excellent companions at hospitals or nursing homes. Their happy demeanor will bring an instant smile to anyone’s face! I now understand why so many people own a Goldendoodle!

What if you could use our money to maximize the value of your home? Homes in the neighborhood are getting older. If you want to sell for the most money possible, you need to update before you list. Dozens of our sellers have used Compass Concierge - including some of your neighbors - and doubled the return on their investment.

PAST EVENTS

Easter Celebration We hope everyone enjoyed the Easter Celebration this year! The event was a little earlier than normal as we wanted everyone traveling for Spring Break to be able to attend the event! We had a very windy day but the sun was shining and the chilly day didn’t deter the kids from grabbing their free snow cones after they hunted the 4000+ eggs in the Clubhouse Courtyard!

Golf Cart Safety

The Board of Directors is asking for your cooperation and assistance.

We as a Board are very concerned about the rise of unlicensed youths operating golf carts. In the event you don’t know the Georgia laws in this area, please see the information below that was prepared by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The bottom line is that no person should be at the wheel of a golf cart unless they have a valid drivers’ license. In the coming weeks, the Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up enforcement of the Georgia Code. If the situation doesn’t resolve itself, the Sheriff’s Office has informed us that parents may be ticketed for allowing their children to illegally operate these vehicles. As always, please call 911 or the non-emergency number (770-781-3087) to report suspicious persons as well as unsafe or illegal operation of a motor vehicle. Windermere Board of Directors
