A MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGER Happy New Year! I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. The music, the lights, the smells and the sounds! It’s such a magical time of year and one of my favorite! I always look forward to the holidays and my son visiting from up north for the week. We love to do things around Acworth and Woodstock when he visits. We might even get a walk in at Allatoona Lake. I love living near the lake. My son just turned 21 and he is attending Temple University. I couldn’t be prouder as a mom! I can’t wait to attend his graduation from college and celebrate his success! I look forward to the new year and what it has to offer. I also wish everyone a wonderful new year full of happiness and laughter! We have a new Assistant starting with us and I invite you to stop by the office to say hello!

Safety in our Community As we would all like to keep Mundy Mill safe. There are a few things that you can do as a part of the community. Street Light Outages If you see a street light out, it is a simple fix. Jackson EMC has a hotline to report street light out-ages. Simply get the number off of the pole that is out and call (770) 536-2415. They will take the in-formation and then dispatch someone to come and fix the light. Known thefts or suspicious activity Call the Police! We do have police patrolling the community. Howev-er, the patrols will increase if there are reports of known thefts or suspicious activity. 5

The HOA would like to thank all of the residents who attended the Annual Town Hall Meeting in December. There was a lot to cover and with the help and cooperation of those residents who attended the meeting, everything went smoothly. The HOA will be making a few adjustments to the audio portion of the presentation and we will also incorporate resident questions into the presentation so they are covered, preventing them from getting lost in the shuffle of the end of the meeting. Having the meeting at the Mundy Mill Academy proved to be the right choice this year and we will certainly continue to have future meetings at the Academy as long as it is available for use. 6

THE LOVE OF A PET GRIEVING THE LOSS One of the most difficult days for any pet owner is the day their pet passes away. That’s because pets are more than just furry creatures that live in our homes – they’re part of our families. If we take a moment and think about our relationship with our pets, it’s easy to see why they’re so beloved. If we’re upset or depressed for any reason at all, our pets can often cheer us up. Their loyalty and devotion are unmet by most humans, and they each have their own personality. Because pets play such a pivotal role in our lives, our grief when we lose them is genuine and devastating. For most pet owners, our emotional ties to our pets are powerful. But there are some people who don’t understand that grief, often because they have no pets of their own and simply don’t quite understand the pull they have on our lives. In turn, they don’t understand the empty spot in our hearts that immediately appears when they pass away. When someone you know is grieving the loss of their fur baby – which is bound to happen, as their lives are impactful but far too short – here are a few tips to keep in mind: Acknowledge the strength of their bond For some people, it can be hard to comprehend the closeness between pet and human. But pets are part of their owners’ lives day in and day out.
A FEW PET REMINDERS ….. 1) All pets should be accompanied and on a leash. They should never be left to roam the community. 2) Please pick up after your pet when walking and
Be mindful of your words It’s crucial to recognize and validate the pain that someone is feeling after the loss of a pet – even if you yourself don’t quite understand the loss.
please do not put the bags in the amenities area trash cans. The HOA asks that you take the bags home and dispose of them. Trash pick up is more frequent to our homeowners.
Try to understand the process This is an important tip to remember. Grief doesn’t have a time limit, and there is an incredible amount of grief when a pet is lost. It’s impossible to rush through it or ignore it –otherwise you can’t fully heal. Some people may be able to lapse back into their daily routine with relative ease, while others may take days or weeks or months to adjust. Most pet owners value the special role pets play in their lives and see them as just as important as the humans in their lives. Trying to understand this unique bond will help you empathize with them as they try to heal. 8

9 SIGNS YOUR CHILD IS BEING BULLIED By Greatschools Staff | October 9, 2018
Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s going on at school. If you suspect your child is having trouble with bullying, be on the lookout for these nine signs. If you think or know your child is being bullied, get help immediately. Talk with your school’s administration, and get more information online at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s site Stop Bullying Now! and at the National Crime Prevention Council. But remember, most kids don’t tell their parents that they’re being bullied. They may be afraid, or they may be embarrassed. So how do you know? Look for the signs below. 1. Your child comes home from school with torn clothing or damaged books. 2. Your child has bruises, cuts, and scratches, but can’t explain how she got them (or comes up with excuses that aren’t believable). 3. Your child seems afraid to go to school in the morning. He might say he has headaches or stomach pains. 4. You notice your child starts taking a new route to and from school. 5. Your child has bad dreams or cries in her sleep. 6. Your child loses interest in school work; his grades suddenly start to go down. 7. Your child doesn’t act like herself: she seems sad, depressed, withdrawn, or gets easily angry. 8. Your child asks you for money to meet the bully’s demands, or he might even steal money from you or others in the family. 9. Your child seems lonely and isolated socially. She has few—if any—real friends. She’s rarely invited to parties or to the homes of other kids. (Her fear of rejection may lead her to stay away from others.) 16

POOL HOURS The pool opens at 8:00 a.m. for Mundy Mill Residents. The pool closes each evening at 10:00 p.m. and Pool Monitors go off duty. POOL SAFETY Please pay close attention to the pool rules which are intended to ensure a safe environment for all residents. Please be aware that Pool Monitors are primarily responsible for making sure the rules of the pool are being complied with. Parents are responsible for monitoring and supervising their children at all times, while in the water and on deck, and ensuring they observe the rules for their own safety. The majority of our parents are diligent in this regard, but there still are too many instances of unsupervised children. We ask that you give your utmost attention to this and
your full understanding and cooperation to the Pool Monitors. POOL CLOSURES Please be aware that pool management and staff have the discretion to close any pool for safety and weather-related reasons. If a Pool Monitor hears or sees lightening or thunder, everyone will be asked to get out of the pool. If lightening is seen, the monitors may direct everyone to leave the pool area. The waiting period before pool/pool area re-entry is permitted is 20 minutes for thunder and 30 minutes for lightening. The clock starts over each time a monitor hears thunder or sees lightening.

YOUR Health. OUR Specialty. Congratulations to Andrew B. Reisman, M.D. 2019-2020 President of the Medical Association of Georgia We are proud to congratulate our own Andrew Reisman, M.D., for his leadership throughout our community and state as the newly installed President of the Medical Association of Georgia. Dr. Reisman has served Longstreet Clinic patients since 1996 as one of our board-certified family physicians at our Oakwood office. Made up of more than 8,000 members, the Medical Association of Georgia is the leading voice for physicians in Georgia. Dr. Reisman becomes just the third-ever doctor from the Gainesville/Hall County area to serve as MAG president, and the second physician from Longstreet Clinic in the past three years. In addition to MAG, where he previously served as secretary, he is a member of the Georgia Composite Medical Board, the Hall County Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami and completed his residency at the University of Maryland.
