PAST EVENTS:

The start of spring has been busy at Sterling! Check out what’s been going on so far this year! We are busy planning events for the remainder of 2021! We have lots of new and exciting events for you to look forward to!

RECYCLING EVENT After the Garage Sale, residents had the opportunity to donate unwanted items to Amvets, donate canned goods to the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, and blankets to the Hall County Animal Shelter! Our residents always show up BIG with their donations and generosity! We also filled the paper shredder truck to the brim, collected 245 gallons of unwanted paint, and over 2800 pounds of e-waste for New Life Technology Group! A huge thank you to the Boy Scouts Troop 130 in Flowery Branch for volunteering and making this a successful event!

ST. PATRICKS SCAVENGER HUNT The sneaky leprechaun paid a visit to Sterling and left some pots of gold for the kids to find! 102 kids redeemed their pots of gold for a special prize bag! Then our families enjoyed Johnny’s Pizza compliments of resident, Ryan George with Modern Woodmen!

EASTER EGG HUNT A chilly morning turned into a beautiful spring day! Our Lakes and Trails Committee volunteered to hide our 5000 eggs for the kids to find! We hope everyone enjoyed the always exciting (and fast) egg hunt, the petting zoo, food trucks and games!

Thank you to our Lakes & Trails Volunteers: Kathy & Allen Ballar, Susan and Curt Rogers, Susan Guilbeau, Oliver McClellan, Faith Hayes, Merrie WestDavis, Dedra Murray, Sue Barcus

Include your ALTA ranking and we will put you in touch with the appropriate team captain. Matches are played on Saturday mornings at 9:00 am beginning June 5th.

CONGRATULATIONS to the A8 Winter Mixed Doubles team captained by Lucy Clinton. They were Division Champions and made it to the third round of play-offs. A great season!

Swim Team Sterling on the Lake is excited to announce that registration is open for our summer league swim team, the Sterling Stripers. Joining the swim team is a fantastic opportunity for youth age 5-18 to stay active this summer while developing their swim technique. Our mission is to provide a fun and competitive environment that gives swimmers the opportunity to learn swimming excellence while focusing on the components of individual progress, self-esteem, and team unity. The Sterling Stripers swim as a member of the North Georgia Swim League (NGSL). Our season runs from midMay through the end of June. Practices are held at the SOTL main lap pool Monday through Thursday, starting in the evenings and moving to morning practices once school is out for the summer. Our competition schedule offers a combination of meets that include week-night dual meets and larger NGSL officiated meets over the 4 weekends in June. Both meet styles offer great opportunities for fun, learning, and friendly competition. More detailed information regarding our practice/meet schedule can be found on our website https://sotl.swimtopia.com/.

Flowery Branch High School/ Davis Middle School Swim Team. Mike holds coaching certifications in both the American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) and the USA triathlon association. He is an excellent asset to our team, and we welcome him back for our 2021 season. Registration for residents of Sterling on the Lake is $150.00 for the first three swimmers in a family and $140.00 for any additional swimmers in the same family. We also welcome non-resident swimmers with an additional $25 family registration fee. Registration can be accessed on our website https://sotl.swimtopia.com/. Our swim team will follow CDC, SOTL, and NGSL guidelines with regard to COVID safety. Details of how this will be carried out will be updated on our website and will be discussed at our parent meeting prior to the start of the season. COVID impact on our community is a fluid situation, and guidelines will be updated and modified as needed throughout the season.

We are excited to announce that Mike Martin will be returning as our head coach this season. Mike is a resident of SOTL and is the current swim coach for 20
