NEWS FROM THE COURSE
NEWS FROM THE
GOLF GROUPS COUPLE’S GOLF
This group has three consecutive tee times every Sunday morning. In Spring, Summer and Fall, they begin play at 9:30AM More tee times can be added depending on how many couples wish to play. Please contact Lynn Kolb at 706-824-0247 or galynn20@yahoo.com for more information. Every Tuesday, Lynn sends a text to interested parties asking for a response by Saturday morning. All are welcome to join in and they look forward to adding more couples as the weather warms up. *Couples on Sunday – Noon during winter.
LADIES’ GOLF GROUP
Currently, the ladies have two standing tee times Monday thru Friday starting at 8:30 AM. If you are interested in joining the Ladies Golf Group (even occasionally), please email Pam Poppe at ppoppe@mindspring.com if you wish to be included. Each Friday, Pam sends an email to the group asking which days you are interested in golfing during the coming week. She only asks for a 48-hour notice so she can add or cancel tee times. Don’t worry about handicaps since the skill levels vary widely. These women golf for fun! If the morning times don’t work for you, please let Pam know if you are interested in playing 9 holes at other times of the day.
SENIOR MEN’S GOLF GROUP
The senior men gather to play an organized format of stroke play on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You never know who you will get paired with on these days, so it’s a great opportunity to meet your fellow neighbors and make new friends. On Thursdays, it’s just pair-up and play as you like. The course is closed on Tuesdays. Currently, our block of tee times starts at 10:00 AM. As the weather warms up, our standing tee tie will move to 9:00 AM. You can play as often or as little as you like; just show up at least 15 minutes before the first tee time. This is a social group with members of varying skill levels. Every spring and fall the men gather at the Club Grill for a fun evening with their significant others. For more information, contact Steve Morrell at 1-706-654-6034 (H) or on his cell at 770-861-610. You can also email him at shmorrell44@gmail.com
MEN’S GROUP (MGA)

COMMUNITY NEWS
NEW PAINT COLORS ARE HERE FOR 2019
Every year, the paint manufacturers release what they think will be the trending colors for the upcoming year. Here are some that I think, will help to brighten or add pop to any house. 1. THE DARK BROODING GROUP This is the warm color group of charcoal black, burgundy and chestnut. Don’t be afraid to experiment with an accent wall in a darker color. If that is too much for the faint of heart, how about a new accent pillow or a throw blanket to drape over the back of the couch. 2. MUTED GROUP This group goes back to nature, to draw in the outside; sky, ocean, and Mother Earth, to give you muted blues, greens, browns and grays. These colors are calming and can be used in a theme for an ocean retreat or a mountain cabin. Then accent with a Dark Brooding Group color like navy or chestnut on a pillow.
3. WHITE GROUP There are so many whites that who knew picking a white could be so confusing. I have a white husky dog and he looks white until he is in the snow and then he turns polar bear white, with a slight yellow undertone. Whites can have undertones from the coffee to yellow to red and blue. Whites are great to brighten up a home, most people use a shade of white for baseboard, window trim and crown molding. 4. BLACK CONTRAST Now, I would never do a whole room in black and I am sure you wouldn’t either. But black can be a great contrast to white for an accent wall, trim and cabinets. Like white there are many shades of black, from a midnight black to gray to even shades with a blue undertone.
LOVING GOD
EQUALS
welcome people outside of our circle as friends and not strangers. Therefore welcome one another as Jesus Christ has welcomed you for the glory of God. (Romans 15:7). A closed heart handed down will produce generations of people who will develop sects, biases, and methods of exclusion, which leads to ungodly segregation and division. The Bible teaches, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).
Consider for a moment that circles leave no room for more people to enter or for others to exit. Circles are closed all around. Cliques/circles tend to become centered only on the needs of their particular group. In communities, churches, schools, or workplace environments unity will be lost when focus is not on everyone. When we have supreme love for ourselves and lack of love for God, our love towards others becomes self-serving and/or motive driven. Luke 15:1-2 says, “Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, this man receives sinners, and eats with them” (King James Version). We must
Jesus Christ was crucified and brought about a radical change (a transformed life). Christ spent time with the unloved, outcast, and unpopular. Jesus told his followers to discontinue a life of sin (John 8:11).

LOVING PEOPLE
Did you know that loving God also entails loving people? Jesus set forth this example by reaching out to the neglected and down-trodden who were not a part of the popular religious circle. In Matthew 22: 37-39, Jesus said, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself” (KJV). Do you find it difficult to be authentically kind or loving toward people who are not in your circle or clique?

5. SOFT HUES These shades are a great way to introduce some color for the faint of heart or someone just starting to experiment with color. A room can be a shade of blue and throw in a calming tan, or a green room could pop with a pale-yellow accent. Gray goes with so much from pink to red, blue to navy. With spring here and everything starting new again, try experimenting with some colors that you never thought of before. The important aspect of starting new again is to HAVE FUN doing it.
The Pharisees’ focus was never on being relational with the people. They were only interested in their chief seats in public meetings, wearing fancy robes, and excluding people who did not fit the “worthy” status. These elites prided themselves in helping the less fortunate; being good people in the eyes of men. However, they lacked a genuine love for others. Jesus was rejected by the Pharisees because he was not like them.
They led the charge in crucifying him because they hated the fact that they could not confine him to their circle. The love of God will transform everything about you by opening up your heart to love in a greater and genuine capacity. Christ came to reconcile everyone back to God by shedding His blood on the cross and dying in our place. Jesus’s death, burial, resurrection, and ascension not only created a way for salvation; but, it also destroyed the power of sin. Sin separates mankind from God and it will do the same in communities, churches, workplaces, and schools. When we love God according to His desires, we will be able to love our neighbors. The Lord seeks fidelity from those who claim to love him. Loving God must include your mind, thoughts, will, heart, personality, words, behavior, and lifestyle. Many people who claim Christianity as their identity must be cognizant of the Holy Scripture’s command regarding loving God with all thine heart; and your neighbor as yourself. Know that loving God equals loving people. Join us on Wednesday evening for Bible Study at 7pm. If you have questions email Portia at tia459@yahoo.com

IS IT REALLY HARDER TO LOSE WEIGHT AS WE MATURE? Getting old ain’t for sissys! As we mature in age, we start to experience physical and mental changes and losing weight can seem more difficult, especially if you’re finding it more and more difficult to get around. Sarcopenia, which means muscle loss, affects all of us as we age. In addition, our bodies burn fewer calories at rest, but our appetites haven’t necessarily decreased. We can’t turn back the clock so what are we to do?!! 1. Keep moving! Arthritis, recovery from surgery, etc. can slow you down but if you have clearance from your doc, you should be exercising or getting some kind of daily physical activity. There are lots of lowimpact options such as walking and yoga. When pain is the problem, pay special attention to what you eat and eating anti-inflammatory foods. Stick to veggies, fruit, whole grains, beans and legumes and heart healthy fats such as avocados and nuts/seeds. Limit meat, especially red and pork. 2. Ditch the old way of dieting – a cup of java and glass of OJ does not a good diet make. You also need protein and fiber for breakfast and really at every meal. Check out myplate.org for nutrition guidelines and recommendations on what a balanced diet looks like. 3. Focus on what you can add to your diet not cut out – sure, you can lose weight by just eating a piece of dry toast for breakfast but really, what’s the goal here? We want to become stronger not weak and frail. Our bodies need fuel with the proper nutrients, vitamins and minerals which is hard to get on a very restrictive diet. Nutrients also preserve what muscle of bone density we already have! 4. Are you afraid to exercise or that you won’t do it right? Well, any kind of movement is better than nothing I suppose however, you don’t want to hurt yourself or make a past injury rear its ugly head. Find an activity that keeps you moving and that you enjoy and this way you will do it and it won’t be so hard to get motivated. Look for ways to get strong with a strength training program whether in your home, gym or getting a certified personal trainer. Do it and don’t delay! Muscle mass fuels your metabolism so our bodies burn more calories too. It’s never too late to get strong! 5. Cut out snacks. Good or bad advice? I say snack if you are hungry and your snacking on something nutritious. Healthy snacking can keep you from overindulging when you do finally sit down to a real meal. Snacking keeps your blood sugar stable by eating ideally, every 3 – 4 hours. Examples of good and satisfying snacks are an apple with a handful of almonds or yogurt and berries. Hope this helps. I encourage everyone, not matter what age, to make a goal of getting stronger this year. Women keep doing things that keep you active and strong (cleaning, gardening, etc.) and open your own jar and bottle lids. Men take the advice for women as well, especially about cleaning! Do pushups on the counter or floor when waiting for your coffee to brew (women do this too!) And, if you need some accountability or just don’t know where to start, please contact me about training in your home, my home gym, Traditions fitness center or a convenient location of your choice. Your first 30-minute session is FREE if you mention this article! Carol Osborne, Personal Trainer Fitness Delivered 678-510-9573 facebook.com/fitnessdelivered fitnessdeliveredtoyou@gmail.com

SAVE THE DATE FOR OUR “SNEAK PEEK” SUMMER SOCIAL You are cordially invited to our “Kick Off to Summer” event on Saturday, May 11 at the Owner’s Clubhouse from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Although the kids don’t get out of school until May 24 and summer doesn’t OFFICIALLY begin until June 20, this event will serve as a sneak peek of sorts for residents and prospective new neighbors alike. For current Traditions of Braselton homeowners, the event will be a fun sneak peek into the season to come with a golf cart tour of homes, free food truck feast featuring AngelFire BBQ and King of Pops, complimentary tennis clinic, custom golf club fittings, chances to win prizes and more. For families considering a move to Traditions, it will be a sneak peek into the unique lifestyle offered by our amenity-rich and neighborly community. “Traditions of Braselton has many draws for Metro Atlanta homebuyers,” said Michael Rosenberg, President of Paran Homes. “It’s reminiscent of a sprawling and scenic resort village set within a charming small town. Some buyers are drawn here by the 18-hole golf course and the prospect of traveling around the neighborhood via golf cart. Others love the incredible amenities like the Owner’s Clubhouse with pool, splash pad, playground and gym. Still others appreciate the tennis complex and active ALTA program. And let’s not forget the beautifully crafted homes set against a picturesque backdrop. Of course, what really makes this neighborhood special are the people who’ve chosen to live here. Our ‘Kick Off to Summer’ event presents a unique opportunity for current residents to rub elbows with families who may become their neighbors one day soon. Between the fact that ‘social life’ is a way of life around here and the festival-like atmosphere of the day, we believe this event will prove a really fun destination for all involved.” In order to give the best “big picture” view of Traditions of Braselton, the event will be hosted at a variety of locations, including the Discovery Center, Owner’s Clubhouse and Pool and Golf Clubhouse. Golf carts will be available to transport guests from one locale to the other. We hope you will join us for what promises to be an exciting afternoon. It’s a great opportunity to get to know your current neighbors a little better and to share your personal Traditions of Braselton experience with a prospective new neighbor or two. If you know someone who is looking for a community in which they might downsize, right size or raise a family, we hope you will invite them to accompany you to our “Kick Off to Summer” event. We look forward to seeing YOU there!
