Thinking about a Pet Hamster? Hamsters are one of the most popular small pets for obvious reasons. They are solitary in nature, easy to take care of, and supremely handleable. Give him a few toys and a wheel and he will happily entertain himself.
Because hamsters have pretty bad eyesight, they are more prone to biting than most other rodents. Stick a finger through the cage bar and he is most likely to plunge his teeth into your skin. The pain by a bite should not be underestimated. It is not uncommon for them to draw blood as a result. This can constantly create fear if it is your child's finger!
CONS
PROS
CONSIDER THESE PROS & CONS!
They have a reputation of being fairly clean animals due to the fact that they may quickly get into the habit of using just one corner of their cage asa toilet. Spot cleaning is sufficient although a full cage cleaning is necessary from time to time. Furthermore, for those with sensitive noses, a properly cared-for hamster is unlikely to produce unpleasant smells making them ideal for your home. From a child's perspective, another benefit of hamsters is their cheek pouches which can be fascinating. Fill his food bowl and watch your hamster busily attempt to cram food into his pouches before stumbling back to his bed and depositing the food into a secret spot.
Another downside is their nocturnal lifestyle which means they are up just about all night. So putting him in your child's room could be a disaster. Then they spend all day asleep which is the time you want him to play. All in all, a small pet like a hamster may help children learn responsibility in caring for a living thing at a young age. Take time to train your child in regards to feeding, cleaning and simply handling him appropriately and carefully.... and he may become the perfect pet after all!

Getting to Know Coach Bobby Q. Where did you grow up and what brought you to Atlanta? A. I was born in New York City and moved to East Northport, on Long Island just before my fourth birthday. I lived there until leaving for Texas Christian University. Grad Tennis Instructor school at Georgia State University and three TCU roommates all were in Atlanta in early 90’s. I began visiting in late 80’s while still living in Los Angeles. Was not fond of my California experience and wanted to further my education surrounded by friends in a place that has just always felt like home.
Bobby Schindler
Q. When/why did you start playing tennis? A. I was late to the game and did not begin training in an academy type atmosphere until I was twelve. Baseball was my first love but tennis was booming in the mid 70’s and my mother had a dream that I beat Jimmy Connors at Wimbledon. All of a sudden I am taking tennis lessons. Q. Who has been your greatest influence in tennis? A. Good question. Without Jimmy Connors I never pick up a racket because he brought the game to the masses. We were not wealthy and my dad was a longshoreman who loved boxing. Fortunately we met a teaching professional who shared a passion for boxing who convinced my father tennis was very similar without the violence. My dad, recognizing my lack of size, liked the idea and went along for the ride. Therefore without Bill Morton I do not begin “training.” That said without my dad I have no one waking me up at six in the morning, driving in the snow to the courts and always being in the “window,” watching my matches. Dad wins!
Q. What was your very first job? A. As a thirteen year old I was paid to coach a ten an under baseball all-star team. Guess I was hooked. Q. Where is your favorite place to vacation? A. Love going to Walt Disney World with my daughter. Nothing compares to the feeling we share when on property. Q. What is your favorite venue to watch tennis? A. US Open is played around my birthday and Jimmy Connors five championships while I was growing up felt like a gift. Q. Who is your favorite professional tennis player and why? A. Jimmy Connors was early but no one compares to Roger Federer. Have always been attracted to greatness, Steelers of the 70’s, Edmonton Oilers in the 80’s, Pete Sampras, list goes on. I remember seeing a young Roger and being amazed by his shot making ability. He was not winning yet but you felt it was only a matter of when. Over time the appreciation has only grown, as unlike most legendary tennis players, he seemingly achieves his greatness through a love for the entire process. He seems very much at peace, enjoying every moment of playing, with tennis never becoming a job. Q. What teams do you cheer for? A. I have always rooted more for players than teams so list is constantly evolving. TCU stunk while I was at school but will always wear the purple. That said though the New York Yankees are forever! Q. What’s your all-time favorite movie? A. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Bull Durham, Superman with Christopher Reeve and Toy Story 3. Last one wins the day since my daughter, then four years old, was sitting on my lap. Q. Favorite place to eat out? A. Stoney River for Lamb Chops, Haciendas for Mexican Food, Lin’s for Chinese and any place that grills a medium rare rib-eye.
Cinco De Mayo Tennis Fiesta Mixer Please plan to join us for our next FREE tennis social!

It's not just about preparing to Babysit, it's about preparing them for life! The topics covered stem from the foundation - we delve into who we are, what our values are and then we apply that to the care of others, and understanding how our actions impact everyone around us. We cover the soft skills of interacting without use of cell phones, safely marketing yourself safely with today’s problems of human trafficking and drug triangle. While all of the fundamentals of babysitting are covered, this class delves into the good, bad and ugly - - the things kids don’t often think of, and are therefore not prepared. The icing on the cake - - your kids with be thoroughly trained in CPR from an American Heart Association certified instructor. Your kids should not babysit before taking this class! There is too much accountability involved to send your kids to work without the proper training. All this PLUS the kids have a blast, while learning such important lessons!

EVENTS
The Board of Directors is asking for your cooperation and assistance. We as a Board are very concerned about the rise of unlicensed youths operating golf carts. In the event you don’t know the Georgia laws in this area, please see the information below that was prepared by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. The bottom line is that no person should be at the wheel of a golf cart unless they have a valid drivers’ license. In the coming weeks, the Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up enforcement of the Georgia Code. If the situation doesn’t resolve itself, the Sheriff’s Office has informed us that parents may be ticketed for allowing their children to illegally operate these vehicles. As always, please call 911 or the non-emergency number (770-781-3087) to report suspicious persons as well as unsafe or illegal operation of a motor vehicle. Windermere Board of Directors
A Message from the Association Manager FREQUENT VIOLATION REMINDERS We understand that no one wants to receive those pesky violation letters! The most frequent violations that can be easily avoided are: GARAGE/ YARD SALES Individual or neighborhood garage sales, moving sales, rummage sales, yard sales or similar activities within Windermere are prohibited. Community-wide events have traditionally been scheduled twice per year.
TRASH CANS
MAILBOXES
LAWNS
They must be stored out of view from the street. They cannot be stored on the side of the house or by the garage.
Please make sure that mailboxes are not faded and that mailboxes numbers are easily visible.
We ask that pine straw and mulch are kept looking new and fresh. Your yard is one of the first things that is noticed about your home and an opportunity to enhance the look of your home and lot!

Testimonials:
Great camp all around. Of all the camps my 7 year old attended this Summer, this is the one he talks about constantly. The level of programming and circuit building was beyond anything expected. Extremely impressive for kids of this age. Would return again in a heartbeat. I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen my son more passionate about anything that he was to attend the Imagine That Minecraft camp. He asked me to wake him up early so that he could get there first thing in the morning and get started. His instructor is amazing and he’s learning a ton. Very high recommendation for this camp. Well put together and organized. It was a first class experience. www.WindermereCommunity.net Windermere Leaflet
