POOL NEWS

Pool News

After much discussion we wanted to send out this Q and A, which we hope will answer questions regarding the pool opening this coming Tuesday. What you see below supersedes the rules that are listed in the Pool Rules. The Board hopes to be able to gradually reduce these restrictions as the summer progresses. Thanks for your patience as we attempt this soft opening of the pool. Q: When is the pool going to officially open? A: Tuesday May, 26th. Q: What are the Hours? A: • 5a-8a: Open swim for those who are most concerned about social distancing • 8a-9a: Pool is closed for cleaning and disinfection; all residents required to leave pool area • 9a-12p: Pool is open • 12p-1p: Pool is closed for C&D, residents leave • 1p-4p: Pool is open • 4p-5p: Pool is closed for C&D, residents leave • 5p-8p: Pool is open • 8pm: Pool is closed for the day, guards will clean and disinfect one final time for the day Q: What are the cleaning procedures?

10

June 2020

A: Our pool company is partnering with a cleaning company and implementing a cleaning and disinfection procedure every 3 hours. Pool staff will spray down the entire pool deck and all furniture. With this said, we highly recommend, encourage, and request that each patron cleans furniture before and after personal use. Q: When I come to the pool, how do I enter? A: We will have one gate open for entry. This will be the gate on the golf club side, closest to the lodge. We have lined the side walk with blue tape in order to assist with promoting social distancing. The other two gates will be closed for entry. When it is time for residents to clear the pool area, all gates will be opened for exit. We ask for your cooperation in NOT letting people In

Again, we are sending this Q&A as a set of preliminary guidelines. We are opening with restrictions to evaluate the optimal procedures to ensure that Windermere Residents are able to utilize a wonderful amenity. Please be patient, and know that the Board and Management may and likely will change these guidelines and restrictions as the summer progresses. Lastly, if you have not DocuSign’d the Pool Rules, and wish to receive your 2020 amenity stickers, please contact the Property Management office.

through the Out doors. Q: Will the pool be over crowded? A: This is a multi-part answer: • As of right now, we are limiting the amount of people to access the pool in one session to a maximum of 300 residents. • In order to give residents first opportunity, please limit visitation of the pool to only those who reside in your household. • We have worked with our pool company to strategically place all furniture to ensure social distancing. Please do not move the furniture. Entrance will be allowed on a first come first serve basis. • Please know that we have engaged additional staff to monitor the entrances and patron levels.

Q: How will I know if the pool area has reached full capacity during a given session? A: We will update the Windermere Facebook Page to communicate if the pool has reached its capacity. If you haven’t already, please Like our page so you will see these updates. Our intention is that no one stands in a line and is turned away. Q: Is the water slide going to be available? A: At this time the slide and splash pad will be closed. We simply are not able to effectively sanitize and disinfect each of these areas after each patron comes into contact with the area. Plus, the splash pad area is being used for additional socially distanced seating. Q: Can we reserve the pool for parties? A: Not at this time.

Board Policy on Reopening of Amenities: Tennis Courts & Instruction Approved April 23, 2020 The Windermere Board of Directors recognizes that many of our residents wish to get back to playing tennis as soon as reasonably and safely possible. The Board shares that goal. That said, the Board must balance this with the potential for individuals to get sick due to using our tennis courts, and the potential legal liability that could attach if we move too quickly. Thus, the Board has decided to have its reopening policy influenced by legal counsel, Governor Kemp’s Executive Orders, and the pre-eminent American tennis association, the U.S. Tennis Association (“USTA”). On April 2, Governor Kemp issued a statewide Shelter in Place Executive Order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The order applies to all Georgia residents and visitors and will remain in effect until April 30 at 11:59 p.m. The Order states that “all residents and visitors of the State of Georgia are required to shelter in place within their homes or places of residence, meaning remaining in their place of residence and taking every possible precaution to limit social interaction to prevent the spread or infection of COVid-19 to themselves or any other person…” On April 20, the Governor issued an additional Executive Order, where (among other things) he stated that gyms, fitness centers, bowling alleys, tattoo parlors, and hair salons could begin Minimum Basic Operations beginning Friday, April 24. None of our amenities fit this description. The Board has agreed that once the Governor has lifted the Shelter in Place Order, currently scheduled to expire on April 30, we will re-open our tennis amenities subject to certain safety and social distancing restrictions.

Tennis Court Guidelines and Restrictions ORGANIZATIONAL CONSIDERATIONS • Activities will be limited to casual court rental, one-on-one coaching, small groups and private lessons. • Online bookings are strongly recommended. • Residents should make payments online, and avoid handling cash. • Staff and participants should wash hands often after touching items. • All courts must be reserved online, in case the authorities need to trace who has been onsite. PROVIDE A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT • All surfaces, including counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures and toilets, will be cleaned and sanitized by our cleaning crew three times a week. • Please do not use the bathrooms unless absolutely necessary, and then, please wash your hands thoroughly and use a towel when touching door knobs. • All court gates will be chained. Entrance to courts will be limited to the openings near the pavilions. • Subject to availability, hand sanitizer station and disinfectant wipes will be available at each pavilion. ENCOURAGE SOCIAL DISTANCING • To the extent humanly possible, all players and staff must follow social distancing measures (defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as keeping six feet apart), including when arriving at and departing from a court. • Even numbered courts will be closed for play, in order to enforce social distancing. • No social gatherings. Furniture under the pavilions will remain, and we reserve the right to remove them if we notice social gatherings that violate social distancing guidelines. • Players are to stay on their side of court and not change ends. BEFORE YOU PLAY • Arrange to play only with family members or others who live in your household or with individuals who are considered to be low risk. • Do not play if any of you: o Are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus: mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC. o Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days. o Are a vulnerable individual. A vulnerable individual is an elderly individual and/or an individual with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy. (Once Georgia reaches Stage Three, a vulnerable individual can resume public interactions, including playing tennis, but should practice physical distancing.) PREPARING TO PLAY • Protect against infections: o Wash your hands with a disinfectant soap and water (for 20 seconds or longer), or use a hand sanitizer if soap and water are 14

June 2020

not readily available, before going to the court. o Clean and wipe down your equipment, including racquets and water bottles. Do not share racquets or any other equipment such as wristbands, grips, hats and towels. o Bring a full water bottle to avoid touching a tap or water fountain handle. o Use new balls and a new grip, if possible. o Consider taking extra precautions such as wearing gloves. o If you need to sneeze or cough, do so into a tissue or upper sleeve. o Avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. if you can. WHEN PLAYING • Try to stay at least six feet apart from other players. Do not make physical contact with them (such as shaking hands or a high five). • You should consider not playing doubles, which could lead to incidental contact and unwanted proximity. If you do play doubles, avoid all incidental contact, NO Bryan Brothers Chest Bumps and NO whispering to each other from a close distance to strategize. • Avoid touching your face after handling a ball, racquet or other equipment. Wash your hands promptly if you have touched your eyes, nose or mouth. • Move score tender with the end of your racquet. Do not touch with your hands. • Do not share food, drinks or towels. • Stay on your side of court. Do not change ends of the court. • Remain apart from other players when taking a break. • If a ball from another court comes to you, send it back with a kick or with your racquet. Do not touch it with your hands. AFTER PLAYING • Leave the court as soon as reasonably possible. • Wash your hands thoroughly or use a hand sanitizer after coming off the court. USE SIX BALLS • Open two cans of tennis balls that do not share the same number on the ball. • Take one set of numbered balls, and have your playing partner take a set of balls from the other can. • Proceed with play, making sure to pick up your set of numbered balls only. Should a ball with the other number wind up on your side of the court, do not touch the ball with your hands. Use your racquet head or feet to advance the ball to the other side of the court. COACHING • Group coaching will only take place only where full social distancing is possible. Group coaching will be limited to small groups. • Players will not handle any coaching equipment, nor will they touch any tennis balls. • When picking up balls, players will use their racquets to move balls to a central location (e.g. net), where the Pro will use a basket or tube to pick them up. • For private lessons that feature serving, players must bring two cans of balls that only they handle for serving.

Lodge & Fitness Center

In consultation with the association’s professional team, including the association manager, attorney, insurance provider, and other business partners, the Board has been planning for contingencies that may arise in the community as a result of the spread of COVID-19. Based on advice that has been circulated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Georgia Department of Health, we have made the tough decision to close the fitness center until further notice. Fitness center usage is suspended until conditions improve and guidance and advice from the CDC and other government officials are confident that operations may resume. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

NEWS FROM THE FORSYTH COUNTY CHAMBER

Forsyth is a Chamber of the Year Finalist! The Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce has been named a finalist for the 2020 Chamber of the Year award, presented by Alexandria, VA-based Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. The Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, founded in 1914, serves more than 9,000 professionals who lead Chambers of Commerce. The mission of the Alexandria, VA-based organization is to support and develop chamber professionals to lead businesses and their communities.

process. Organizations entering the Chamber of the Year competition must meet minimum thresholds in at least three of five key performance areas, including net revenue and assets, membership account retention, and membership dollar retention.

The award is the most prestigious and competitive recognition presented annually by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE). ACCE is an association of more than 9,000 professionals from 1,500 Chambers of Commerce, including 93 of the top 100 U.S. metro areas.

Qualifying for Chamber of the Year is a rigorous process. Chambers compete based on meeting key performance criteria on the ACCE Annual Operations Survey. Qualifying Chambers enter the competition with a written application addressing all aspects of organizational operation and programmatic work. Applications are scored by peer chamber executives to determine finalists. Winners are selected from among finalists based on an interview before a panel of experienced Chamber professionals.

The Chamber of the Year award recognizes the leadership role chambers have in their communities. Those honored with the Chamber of the Year designation have demonstrated organizational strength and made an impact on key community priorities, such as education, transportation, economic prosperity and quality of life.

This year’s competition drew numerous entries from Chambers throughout the U.S. To ensure the fairest competition, applicants are grouped into four categories based on: annual revenue, membership, area population and other factors. Chamber of the Year winners will be announced later this year.

“Congratulations to the Chamber of the Year finalists. These chambers are among the most impactful organizations within the industry,” said ACCE President & CEO, Sheree Anne Kelly. “These Chambers are community champions, providing the catalytic leadership needed to help address their region’s greatest challenges.” “As the Chairman of the Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, I could not be more proud of our Chamber President and the team he has put together. Their professionalism and work ethic are in full force year round. When the pandemic hit our community they immediately went to work to help every business and every citizen in our county. The example that the team set has been a model that other Chambers are following. Congratulations James McCoy and the entire staff for this well-deserved nomination,” commented Carter Patterson, the 2020 Chairman of the Forsyth County Chamber.

PET NEWS

Not All Dogs Are Swimmers We tend to think that all dogs are good swimmers, but that is not the case. While an initial doggie paddle may look promising, some pooches can run into trouble pretty fast and should never be close to deep water. So how do you identify whether or not your dog will be a super simmer? Here are 3 tips to help you reach this conclusion : 1) He has a large and heavy chest 2) He has short legs 3) He has a short muzzle (also known as brachycephalic)

CHOW CHOW - An exception to the natural born swimming large dogs because he has deep chest and shorter legs. The flatter muzzle can also cause shortness of breath and his thick coat easily becomes waterlogged and weighs him down. CORGI - They have a very dense body, large barrel chest and short legs.

Below are the top 10 pups NOT designed for swimming

BOXER - A flat face and shorter muzzle means he will struggle to keep his nose and face above the water.

PUG - They have a short snout that causes shortness of breath which hinders his ability to swim for any length of time.

STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER - Athletic and spirited pup, but his solid, dense muscle mass and large head make him heavier and not inclined to take up swimming.

DACHSUND - Although relatively light weight, this breed’s short legs mean he will never be a strong swimmer and will struggle to paddle for more than several minutes.

SHI TZU - Similar to the Maltese, he can quickly catch a chill and it can be a struggle due to his tiny muzzle and small legs. And small dogs can become nervous and scared in open water.

MALTESE - They can experience challenges related to water such as chills, arthritis and rheumatism. He is a sensitive little pup who has trouble adapting to drastic changes of the environment that comes from plopping into the water.

Even if your pup likes the water, never force him to swim and always use a flotation device or life preserver. It’s best to always to protect him with a life preserver if he joins you on a boat ride. Dogs can fall into the water unnoticed and if you are at cruising speed, by the time you realize he is not onboard, it could be too late.

BULLDOG - With a barrel chest, large head and short legs, he will never be able to paddle fast enough to support his weight. BASSET HOUND - His long ears do not serve as a flotation device and are prone to waterborne infections. His large head, dense bone structure and short legs are his issues.

Also, many pups enjoy chasing a ball into the water, but remember they can become fatigued quickly so do not overdo it just because you think it’s cute! I do believe many pup owners can run their dogs too much whether on the sidewalk for some exerciseor chasing a ball over and over and over again. Keep you and your pups cool during this hot Summer, but remember to be cautious as well!
