The Chamber has formed an Economy Forward Task Force to develop a proactive strategic plan to assist our business community in returning to its past economic vitality. One of ECONOMY FORWARD’s areas of focus is Small Business Development and is of utmost importance. To propel our local economy forward, the support of the community is needed as we regain our former dynamic, healthy and diversified economy.
President & CEO Greater Hall Chamber
We urge all to BUY LOCAL, EAT LOCAL! Studies show that when you buy locally, a greater portion of your money is then used to make purchases from other local businesses and service providers – further strengthening the economic base and creating a sustainable connection.
Chamber staff has developed a resource listing all member restaurants and caterers along with the services they are offering. From curbside pickup to family dinner specials, our eateries have worked tirelessly to come up with creative ways to stay in business while feeding our community. To assist our small businesses in reopening, the Chamber is connecting its members with resources providing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and services. From hand sanitizer to signage, we seek to be the liaison to help jump-start your business. We will continue to keep you informed with local, state and national resources, and as we move forward, we will be contacting our members to survey your needs. Remember that the Chamber is your partner and advocate. For small business, know the Chamber is here to help. You are the heart of the economy and the Chamber's membership base. We are committed to the success of our community and ensuring the conditions for healthy commerce. The Chamber's online membership directory is provided as a resource to find business services and members. Visit online to see who's a member at GHCC.com/membership/directory. Let's all buy local, eat local, and GO LOCAL!

Initiating Our Economic Recovery
Brian Rochester
Rochester & Associates Chairman, Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Greater Hall Chamber Economy Forward Task Force was recently established to develop a strategic plan to assist the Gainesville-Hall County business community in returning to the economic vitality for which it is recognized.
The group is engaging stakeholders from all facets of the economy – Government, Education, Healthcare, Economic Development, Small Business, Construction, Industry, Finance, Hospitality – to move our ECONOMY FORWARD. The task force is meeting frequently, and initial stages include fact finding, idea generation by subgroups and the development of a Strategic Plan of Action. The task force is currently vetting ideas while surveying and soliciting feedback from the community. Let your voice be heard. If you have information you'd like to share, or ideas for ECONOMY FORWARD, contact me or Kit Dunlap, 770-532-6206, kit@ghcc.com.
Of importance in our economic recovery is the urging of businesses to observe established healthcare guidelines from Northeast Georgia Health System, the CDC and local governments. Also important is the passage of the Education SPLOST (E-SPLOST), a one-cent tax on all consumer goods that must be approved by voters in a referendum. Hall County voters will have the option of extending E-SPLOST for another five years and supporting a General Obligation Bond with a referendum vote for E-SPLOST VI on JUNE 9. Since 1997, the E-SPLOST has supported the children of Gainesville-Hall County with new schools, technology and safer campuses. The tax amounts to just one penny on Vote YES on June 9. It's the dollar, but all those “good the best alternative to cents” over the past 23 years higher property taxes, and add up to over $580 million everyone pays. for our local schools. Join me in investing in our next generation, and vote YES for E-SPLOST VI and the General Obligation Bond. E-SPLOST is Just Good Cents, and our children deserve the best.

Health Plan for Small Business The Georgia Chamber SMART Plan is a new health care solution that gives small businesses an easier, more affordable way to offer health care to employees, with a lot less worry. The Greater Hall Chamber, in partnership with the Georgia Chamber, has teamed up with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (Anthem) to offer Chamber members (with 2-50 employees) an opportunity to participate in a larger, self-funded pool. This way, small businesses can join together to share in the overall claims risk and have financial protection backed by Anthem. In addition, this great health plan alternative offers: • Competitive rates • Predictable, fixed monthly payments • Flexibility in choice of benefit plans • Broad networks through Anthem’s Open Access POS & Essential Rx Greater Hall Chamber members can learn more about the SMART Plan through your insurance agent or contact Chamber Vice Chair of Membership, Brett Fowler at Turner, Wood and Smith Insurance, 770-536-0161 ext. 231. The Manufacturing Institute awarded ZF’s Elizabeth Umberson with a Women in Manufacturing STEP Ahead Award, honoring women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers. Elizabeth has contributed for over 25 years to the success of ZF, a top global automotive supplier. In 1999, she became the company’s first female plant manager at its facility in Gainesville. In 2010, when ZF diversified, Elizabeth was charged with establishing a production facility for wind turbine gearboxes. Given two years and a $100 million budget, she led a team that secured suppliers, identified a location, hired 230 employees Elizabeth Umberson and successfully launched a high-quality product that led the VP, Materials Management industry in reliability for wind turbine gearboxes. Most recently, ZF North America, Inc. after ZF’s TRW acquisition, she played a key role in the successful integration of materials management in North America—a challenging task that required a complete change within both organizations. “I am so appreciative of this award because it creates an opportunity for industry to champion the role of women in manufacturing and to encourage and empower other females to excel in their careers,” said Elizabeth Umberson. “People should be passionate about manufacturing. It is a cornerstone of the global economy. Employees within a company collaborate to design, prepare, sell and manufacture a product. It is exciting to see the entire creative process result in a tangible product; and nothing has the multiplying effect on jobs that manufacturing does.” zf.com

Students (L-R) Julie Rubio-Suarez, Madison McCollum, Sadie Hart, Milton Soto-Fuentes, Abraham Phillips and CW Davis Instructor Janie Ritcheson. Ritcheson says "The Memorial Park team is always so gracious and makes the experience more than memorable for our students, many of whom have never ridden in a limo. We are so thankful for their partnership!"

E-SPLOST VI and GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND
A continuation of the school sales tax program for another 5 years
Since 1997, the Education SPLOST – a one-penny local sales tax – has funded new schools, technology and safer campuses in Gainesville-Hall County. Though the tax amounts to just one penny on the dollar, all those "Good Cents" produced $580 million over the past 23 years. The E-SPLOST VI Vote is Tuesday, June 9. In the referendum, the E-SPLOST vote will be paired with a general obligation bond designed to jump-start construction projects. Vote YES, because E-SPLOST it's the best alternative to higher property taxes. And, everyone pays – non-residents, visitors, homeowners, renters. Most of all, vote YES for the future of our children.
