EASY PEASY CAJUN RICE DRESSING A.K.A. DIRTY RICE Dirty rice is a classic Cajun dish and one of my childhood favorites. This recipe is from my Louisiana relatives. It’s easy, delicious, and a crowd pleaser. It is the perfect dish to bring to any gathering. INGREDIENTS: • 1LB JIMMY DEAN REGULAR PORK SAUSAGE • 1LB LEAN GROUND BEEF • 1 PKG PUBLIX FROZEN “SEASONING BLEND” (onion/bell pepper/celery/parsley) • 1 TBSP GRAVY MASTER OR KITCHEN BOUQUET • 1 TSP PAPRIKA • 1 TSP CUMIN • PINCH OF OREGANO • 6 to 8 CUPS OF COOKED WHITE RICE (my favorite is jasmine rice) • 1 CAN OF CAMPBELLS BEEF BROTH • KOSHER SALT & PEPPER TO TASTE 4
DIRECTIONS: 1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef and pork sausage over med-hi heat until cooked. Drain any unwanted fat. 2. Add in the Publix frozen “Seasonings Blend” package with the cumin, oregano, paprika, and Gravy Master. Let the meat mixture simmer for 2-3 mins until the vegetables are thawed out and warm. 3. Slowly fold in the cooked white rice. (I use anywhere from 6 to 8 cups depending on how meaty I want my rice to be.) 4. Add in the beef broth. Once the rice is evenly coated with the meat mixture and beef broth, turn the heat to low and cover for 10 mins. Stir occasionally to make sure the rice doesn’t burn at the bottom. Bon Appetit!

EVENTS at the Winery Sunset Stargazing | August 12 @ 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm | RECURRING EVENT As dusk turns to dark, join our stargazing expert around the winery fire pit for a guided, out-of-this-world astronomy experience. Explore the North Georgia night sky with professional telescopes as they point out to star constellations, planets in orbit, and other lunar objects. This experience is complimentary to all overnight guests. Event dates are set to correspond with the monthly moon cycle and other celestial phenomenon. Stargazing at Chateau is approximately 60mins in duration, takes place shortly after sunset, and is weather/cloud dependent. Please note, guests should meet stargazing instructor in front of the winery for evening stargazing. All members of the family are welcome and are invited to come learn about the wonders of outerspace. The event will begin with a short intro into stargazing, a brief walkthrough of the equipment, and an overview of the lunar subjects guests will be viewing. Questions are encouraged at any time. The only equipment you will need for this experience is your curiosity and excitement. Cork & Canvas Workshop | August 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm | RECURRING EVENT Designed for beginner-level artists, get your creative juices flowing with our signature Cork and Canvas Workshop. Join our resident artist, Tracy Kokfe, inside our historic winery as she guides you step-by-step through paintings. During the course, artists can enjoy a winemaker’s selection of Chateau Elan reds, whites, and rose wines. With our Cork and Canvas Workshop team by your side, each class will create a different seasonal painting, discover new artistic styles and techniques, and leave with a masterpiece you’ll remember for a lifetime. As an art teacher for over twenty years, Tracy Kofke utilizes her tenured background in education to guide guests through painting with interactive and personalized instruction. From an early age, Tracy demonstrated an innate artistic talent and continued to bring her creative passion to fruition through drawing and painting. Special Considerations Cheese and charcuterie can be purchased upon arrival. Check-in at Bordeaux Room on the second floor of the Winery, 15 minutes before the class. Wine 101 August 29 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm RECURRING EVENT At Chateau Elan, we believe there’s no right way or wrong way to taste wine. It’s this simple — do you like what you’re drinking or do you not like what you’re drinking? That said, there’s a formal way to taste wine that reveals more about the wine in your glass, even before you start drinking. With our new Wine 101 class, we are taking the intimidation out of wine education. Our goal is to leave each guest feeling comfortable and confident about wine. Together, we will explore the most popular grapes and wine blends in the world. From Merlot to Malbec, and everything in between, our skilled sommelier team will break down everything you need to know including things like how to properly decant wine and how to keep a bottle at the right temperature. 6

Tickets will be limited and ready for purchase by mid-August. October – Prepare for Halloween. Chateau in the Know will sponsor a Halloween Decorating Contest, look for more details soon. For those that are new to the neighborhood, it has been a long tradition that many treaters go to Oxley Village and The Village areas for the Halloween night festivities. The homes are closer together and streets easier to navigate….AND they do an awesome job at decorating and making it fun for everyone. Also, Patti Curtis will once again be setting up a big candy donation bin at her home located at 2745 Muskogee Lane from 10am-6pm on October 23-24, October 30 and 10am-3pm on October 31. This candy donation drive is a great way to contribute toward the large amount of candy that is distributed by our neighbors in that part of the community. Monday, October 11 – Kick-off Party for the Chateau Elan Men’s Pool League at the Legends Clubhouse starting at 7pm. Contact Bob Kindelberger at atlrdk@gmail.com for more information.

Thursday, October 21 – Women’s Club of Chateau Elan’s Annual Chili Cook-off (Couples Event). For more information email womensclubchateauelan@gmail.com Saturday, October 23 – Fall Festival hosted by Chateau in the Know. More details to come on times/activities. We will also be organizing a golf cart parade on the evening of the Fall Festival to view and judge the Halloween decorations in the neighborhood. More details on the meet time/location as we get closer. Saturday, October 31 – Cars of Chateau event will be held from 11am-4pm at the Chateau Elan Winery. A portion of the proceeds benefiting the Chateau Elan Military Support Group. Tickets can be purchase on the Chateau Elan Resort website. November – Chateau in the Know will be organizing a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving event that will include a food truck, movie on the green and other fun activities. Dates and details to come shortly. Please let us know of anyone interested in sponsoring the event at chateauintheknow@gmail.com. December – Chateau in the Know will be hosting a Pancakes with Santa event. Dates and details will be announced shortly. Chateau in the Know will also be hosting the Christmas Decorating Contest again this year….so start planning! December 12, 2021 – Second Annual “Magical Night of Christmas in the Village” coordinated by Patti Curtis with the help & efforts of all the homeowners in The Village to bring the magic to life! This year’s magical night will be held from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The Big Guy with the twinkle in his Eye and a Tummy like a bowl full of Jelly will be back again to see what all the children in Chateau Elan want for Christmas this year. It is an event you will not want to miss!

Women’s Club Chateau Elan Be apart of your neighborhood Women’s Club! The Women’s Club of Chateau Élan is a social club for homeowners whose interests are to support and unify our community through networking and building friendships. We will have 6 or 7 events a year within the neighborhood hosted at the homes of some of our members and a couple off property events along with couples’ events so our dates/spouses can meet as well. Look for our pink signs at all the entrances for dates and locations and sign up to receive all the details to our events thru Evite, so sign up now. We have a lot of fun together and we look forward to seeing you at our next event. This is done to discuss what works well, what did not work well and to drive any new discussions on format and rules. This is for all captains from the previous year and for any new captains that want to put together a team.
