CHATEAU RESIDENTS SOCIAL COMMITTEE CELEBRATES OUR 1st YEAR Thank you to the many volunteers & sponsors for making the very first year of the Chateau Residents Social Committee a success. The Committee began in 2019 as a grass roots effort to foster a cohesive community by organizing fun, interesting events for the entire community so neighbors can meet and socialize with one another. The intended result of improved neighborhood camaraderie, fellowship and sense of community was certainly achieved and has set the foundation for more fun in 2020!

TOUGH CONVERSATIONS ARE A REWARDING GIFT TALKING ABOUT DEATH . . . THAT’S A DINNER CONVERSATION NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE. BUT THAT CONVERSATION IS ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS YOU CAN GIVE YOUR FAMILY. Death is sad, and it’s scary. It’s a hard thing to talk about, but we’re all going to have to face it one day. So, let’s flip the script. Let’s not talk about death, but instead, let’s talk about how you want to live until you die. Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is starting the conversation with families across our community through a new program called Respecting Choices®. This Advance Care Planning program helps initiate the conversation about your future healthcare choices. Technology has advanced to a point where patients with little or no hope of recovery can be kept alive through life-sustaining treatments for extended periods of time. The time to decide the kind of care you want is now – while you are capable of making your own decisions. Your healthcare journey is as unique as your choices, and as your healthcare providers, we want to know we’re providing the care you’d want if you’re unable to speak for yourself.
NGHS offers free individual or family consultations and group presentations to community groups. To request one, visit www.nghs.com/respecting-choices.
10
This conversation is a gift for both you and your loved ones, and our facilitators will help you discuss with your family: • what living well means to you • when you would want medical intervention – and when you wouldn’t • what kind of care would mean the most to you • who you would want to speak for you if you’re unable to speak for yourself • how your family and healthcare team can honor your wishes Loved ones often find themselves struggling to make decisions in difficult, emotional situations. Some people will have the time to prepare for death, but others will not. That is why NOW is the right time for everyone to have this conversation. For more information about advance care planning – including a copy of our planning guide and advance directive – or to schedule an appointment with a facilitator, visit www.nghs.com/ respecting-choices. This project is funded by the Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation’s Healthy Journey Campaign. The Northeast Georgia Health System Foundation raises funds to improve the health and well-being of the people of Northeast Georgia.

Community Event
WE NEED SPONSORS! The Social/Residents Committee is funded completely through cash and in-kind donations. Most events cost less than $200 to sponsor and in turn will promote your business on our Facebook Page and in the Newsletter. As a thank you for your support, we will provide a complimentary promotion in the monthly newsletter and on our Residents Only Facebook Page. Contact Karen Tatro at 706-362-3309 or karenftatro@gmail.com. Additionally we are researching the cost of enclosed community bulletin boards for the entrance/ exits of the neighborhood that will allow various clubs to post upcoming meeting dates and etc. We will have more information on this project in an upcoming newsletter. Thank you in advance to fellow residents Rosa Zimmerman with RSZ Interiors and Pam Estabrooke with Brooke Painting for their sponsorship of the upcoming Easter Egg hunt.

H E L PFU L T I P GUARD GATE ADDRESS
2585 AUTUMN MAPLE As many of you are well aware, GPS is our friend most of the time‌. but unfortunately for many unfamiliar with our community it can lead them to the wrong gate to gain entrance into our community. This confusion can lead to frustration for those guests & vendors that are trying to gain entrance at a resident only gate and even for those maybe waiting in line behind them. So please make note of the Guard Gate address, it is 2585 Autumn Maple Drive and make a habit to provide it to those guests or vendors that are not familiar with our community.
