Kitti’s Corner

Kitti’s Corner By Kitti Kleinedler

January 1 . . .often a time for reflection on the year past and anticipation for the year just beginning. 2020 was certainly a year that our children and our grandchildren will tell their children about. Quarantine, learning from home, not going to family gatherings, and masks- not the Halloween kind. It is easy to look back at 2020 with anger, resentment, and disappointment. Command of our own lifestyle was jerked out from under us like a rug. Daily routines, vacation and travel plans, even employment situations were changed overnight. But maybe there is another way to look at that year. We were forced to pause and decide what parts of our routines were absolutely the most important. Friends, family, work, exercise, entertainment? We found ways to satisfy those desires through testing, social distancing, and selective participation. We have such resilience and coping skills. So as we look ahead to 2021 let’s remember those things that were important and those things we missed the most. I look forward to seeing smiling faces, not just smiling eyes. I want to be able to shake hands and give hugs in greeting, not just bump elbows. I may be a bit more selective in how I choose to fill my days after so many of my choices were stripped away in 2020. Maybe 2020 was a gift in its own way. In spite of restrictions, sadness, and illness, we were all given an opportunity to reflect on what is important and what we all still have. We found a way to have the things that mattered and let go of those that didn’t.

Welcome Committee News By Sue Joninas

Our Cresswind Welcome Committee is still reaching out to new residents with all of them being resales. Our members are sending cards, calling, and offering their support. We let the residents know they can call us and we will help them in any way we can. We also find that neighbors on their street are reaching out to make them feel welcome. We hope some new residents will accept a visit very soon. We will be holding a New Resident Orientation in late January for all new residents since August in the Ballroom at the Clubhouse. We will have several speakers with much more information about Cresswind and Gainesville. If you do not hear from a Welcome Committee Member within four to six weeks of closing, please contact me at sjoninas@gmail.com. We do not want to miss any new residents. Welcome to Cresswind! Committee Corner The ARC News By Debbie Seymour Happy Planning! It is a Wonderful Time to Make Changes to the Exteriors of Our Homes Most of us are spending a lot of time at home these days, and many of us are using this time to make changes to the exteriors of our homes and to our yards. What do you need to know and do before you begin work or hire a contractor? First, become familiar with the Cresswind (CW) rules and regulations (R&Rs), available on the CW website. What do the R&Rs say about the project you are planning? This is where the ability to perform a word search of the R&Rs is very helpful. Remember, that while comprehensive, the R&Rs are not all inclusive, and your project may not be specifically covered by the R&Rs. If this is the case, reach out to an ARC member (listed on the CW website) early in your planning process for an informal consultation. A quick phone call or meeting with an ARC member to discuss your ideas may save time and disappointment later. Often times, a small portion of your idea may need tweaking in order to maintain compliance with the R&Rs. This is especially important if you are working with outside contractors who may not be familiar with the CW R&Rs. Next, you are required to fill out and submit a Request for Approval of Architectural Change to Property form. The CW R&Rs, 5-3.1 (a), states that, “All changes to the exterior of a Cresswind at Lake Lanier residence require ARC approval in advance of starting the work. Do not start work until you have received written approval from the community manager. You are asked to provide the details of your project on the Request form. Most requests must include your lot survey (you should have received a lot survey at closing) showing the location of the planned improvements. However, some simple requests may not require a lot survey, for example, repainting your house or replacing an exterior garage light. There is information on the CW website on how to obtain a copy of your lot survey if you cannot find or do not have a lot survey. You can also reach out to an ARC member for help with this problem. Other required details include plans, elevations, and detailed sketches showing the location of the improvements on your property including distances to property lines and your residence; dimensions of proposed changes; the types of materials that will be used (stone, brick, pavers, etc.); and the colors of paint (we need paint chips) and/or hardscaping materials, etc. Often, will get these details from your contractor. If not, you are responsible for providing this information. The ARC needs written project details before they can process and approve your request. For example, a request to install a new garage light, with no details, will not be processed. Your request needs to state the dimensions, material, color, and style of the proposed new light; or your request could state that the new light will be identical to the light that is being replaced. Some other information you need to know about your ARC request: If your request includes installation of a pool, room addition, concrete patio, patio extension, or any major modification that requires the use of construction equipment that could result in damage to existing landscaping, irrigation systems, drainage slopes, sidewalks, curbs, or common areas, a check in the amount of $1,500 security deposit/inspection fee must be included with your application. This check will be held by the CW front office and returned to you once your project is complete if no damage was incurred, or if any incurred damage was corrected. The approval of your adjoining neighbors is required for fences or any other project that will be on or straddle the shared property lines. You do not need your neighbors’ approval for fences that are not on a shared property line. Neighbors must be made aware, in advance, of any fire pit planned for installation as outlined in Chapter 5-3.2. (m) (5) of the CW R&Rs. The ARC encourages homeowners to make neighbors aware of your plans to make any major changes to your property even when their approval is not required. Lastly, once your ARC request is complete, the request and attachments can be scanned and emailed to the Cresswind Community Manager at CWManager@Cresswindatll.com or delivered to the Front Desk. Remember to keep a copy of your request for reference and to keep your approval letters in a permanent file for when and if you ever sell your home. Happy planning! Cresswind Education Committee by Lois Ehlers

We would like to thank Don Burt, George Maule, and Mary Selbitschka, our outgoing members of the Education committee, for their outstanding three years of service. We welcome new members: Mary George, John Nelson, Rita Petty, and Betsy Robertson. Lois Ehlers, Sandy St. George, and Wimsee Siegel will continue as 2021 members of the committee. Sid Jacobs will maintain his role as Board member liaison.

Our final initiative for 2020 was to support Amy Devillez with the First Responder “Drive By” parade. We had around 30 first responder fire trucks, ambulance, police and sheriff cars drive through the neighborhood, after giving them treat bags and products for the Secret Santa project. Thanks to all of Cresswind for showing their support. The police will be helping us with some educational programs next year.

We are planning a variety of programs for 2021. These include Personal Safety, Car Fit, Smart Driver for Seniors (you can likely get a reduction on your car insurance after you complete this class), Internet Safety, and Public Safety Appreciation. When COVID restrictions are lifted by our presenters, we look forward to offering a Citizen’s Government Academy to provide an introduction to the city of Gainesville. We will also schedule presentations from Brenau University, Legacy Link., and others. If you have any requests for educational programs or suggested speakers, please contact us. https://sites.google.com/site/cwlleducation/ We welcome speakers within our community!

Committee Corner Landscape Committee By Linda Furgerson

While it may not seem like it, now is the time to start planning and prepping for your 2021 Landscape projects. In 2020 we saw a record number of landscape requests come through, and we look forward to receiving more in 2021.That being said there are many things you can do during the cold winter months to not only prepare your own beds and planters (if you are so inclined), but more importantly determining and planning your next landscape project.

If you are working with a landscape architect or

For you junior gardeners, master gardeners, or somewhere in between, now is the time to clean up your flower beds and planters. Remove any dead, diseased, or excess plants that you no longer want. It’s also a perfect time to take an assessment of your current landscape situation. Once you’ve done that, start doing some research or planning of your dream landscape. There are numerous books out there that cover plants and landscaping suitable for Georgia and/ or Southeastern climates that can give you excellent ideas and information. Here are a few of my favorites: Perennials for Georgia – Tara Dillard and Don Williamson; The Well-Tended Perennial Garden – Tracy DiSabato-Aust; Southeast Home Landscaping – Roger Holmes and Rita Buchanan; and Georgia Getting Started Garden Guide – Erica Glasener and Walter Reeves.

These are just a few of my personal favorites. Each provides wonderful information on selecting the perfect annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees. Additionally, they provide maintenance tips as well as suggestions for landscape design. While these more suited for the do-it-yourself type of gardener, they are fantastic resources for those hiring a landscape architect or landscape designer by providing some foundational information and awareness.

While most of the local landscape architects or

landscape designers are familiar with the Landscape Rules and Regulations, you may want to print those do-it-yourselfers, now is a good time for you to re-

familiarize yourself with those Rules and Regulations, especially our updated Do Not Plant List. If your overall landscape plan involves hardscape (raised planters, water features, permanent edging etc.,

you should also provide them with a copy of the

Architecture Rules and Regulations. Please note, you will have to submit a separate ARC request for any hardscape features.

A current plat map of your property is required when you submit a Landscape request. Now is also an

excellent time to request a copy of your property plat map from the Hall County Planning Commission

located at 2875 Browns Bridge Road. This plat map is crucial to efficient processing of your request. A plat map is not the same as property location map

which simply shows the local of your property within

Health & Fitness Committee By Laurie Solomon

The Health and Fitness Committee would like to wish everyone a healthy and peaceful 2021, as we look forward to the promises and hope for the coming year. Last year at this time we hosted our annual Health Fair. Residents were given the opportunity to speak with many health professionals and vendors offering valuable information. We look forward to the future of another Health Fair when it is safe to do so. We would like to thank our Co-Chairman Jackie Edginton for being the liaison between Northside Hospital, Northeast Georgia Medical Center and Cresswind. We are all aware that when it comes to strokes, seconds can be the difference between full recovery and long-term effects. NGMC has always been able to provide stroke patients with clot-busting drugs, but patients had to be transferred to other hospitals for critical procedures related to strokes. The hospital now has the new technology as well as a new stroke expert that allows patients to receive all of the care closer to home. Dr.

Mike Martin, dds Ben Martin, dMd

Mike Martin, dds Ben Martin, dmd

Committee Corner Sung Lee can provide interventional procedures at their new Neurointerventional Lab. He is board certified in Neurology, Vascular Neurology, and Neurocritical Care. If you ever suspect a stroke remember the acronym BE FAST. Be aware of Balance difficulties, Eyesight changes, Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech slurring, Time to call 911. The year 2020 has put many people in a chronic state of stress both emotionally and physically. Stress is the reaction to life pressures and events which we all encounter. The body and mind response to stress has both short and long term effects. Developing stress reduction techniques is a beneficial skill to implement in your life. Physical activity reduces muscular tension and lessens the buildup of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Other stress reduction techniques include focused breathing, meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, focusing on the positive, and practicing gratitude. Stress is a given, but our reaction to it can be counteracted with available techniques. Now it is all about 2021 and looking forward to life in a new, healthy and positive mindset.

We strive to create “customers for life” and believe that each patient deserves the extra care and attention that we would want for our own family members.

Resident News

Cresswind History Comes Alive By Bruce Leibrecht

Did you know Cresswind at Lake Lanier had a previous life? Have you ever wondered about our community’s past? Well, some residents are now working to preserve and share Cresswind’s history. Known as Our Cresswind Heritage Workgroup, the band of wanna-be historians includes Dan Gershkowitz, Judy Brannan, Bert Emma, Marsha Dickey, Jim Brannan, Sue Garcia, Bill Dickey, and Bruce Leibrecht. The group is making use of historical items they and others have gathered over the years, such as the accompanying photo. Back in February the Board of Directors envisioned a project to collect, organize, and share Cresswind’s history from its inception to the present. Soon the pandemic got in the way and things went dormant. Fast forward to early November when the workgroup hit the launch button. Since then we have established a digital repository, started collecting older historical items, coordinated interviews of original founders, and begun planning for initial products. We are especially excited that our discoveries are triggering personal memories of joining the community. Eventually we plan to cover the entire spectrum up to the present, creating a living collection. Cresswind’s historical foundations reach back 15 years. There is a wealth of information that explains how we got where we are now, and it keeps growing every year. No matter what your interests, chances are good you will be fascinated by some aspect of our history. If you can provide historical documents, articles, flyers, photos, emails, or memories—contact any member of the workgroup. Be sure to include today’s notable items, which will become legacy or legend in a few short years. We invite you to help build Our Cresswind Heritage! Seasons on Lake Lanier Residents circa 2008

Resident News

The President’s View - Looking Ahead Hello fellow Cresswinders - Welcome to 2021! We can all agree that 2020 has been a most difficult year for all of us and our families. We all struggled to understand and acknowledge the unseen enemy who wreaked havoc on our lives, caused the health risks we were facing, forced us to adjust our lives while sheltered in place and have left us with some bad memories and heavy hearts. The good news is that we have faced and weathered this most challenging year and we continue to move forward. Last year we accomplished quite a bit. We successfully transitioned our community from Developer Control to being under our complete control. We began a long overdue program to improve roads throughout Cresswind, replace and upgraded out Waterfall System, implemented the resale policy for our Marina Slip Rights, began a review of our storage needs and commenced with some consolidation efforts and the installation of additional shelving. We entered into a long-term Contract with Spectrum which resulted in financial benefits for all Cresswind Residents. We also began to address community grading and drainage issues, resurfaced the tennis and pickleball court surfaces, and commenced a resident group to review our Traffic and Road Issues. These initiatives will continue through 2021 and beyond. We will be setting new goals and objectives for our Service Providers and assure they are met or exceeded. Our Community has and will continue to set the standard for Active Adult 55 and Over Communities – we are all proud to live here and enjoy our amenities and continue to do so for a very long time. Please know that your board of directors, committees, and clubs are making plans for additional community improvements, resident engagement forums and activities as we look ahead towards more times of normalcy. Let us collectively harness our energies, optimism and plans for the future to begin restoring ourselves to the lives we came to Cresswind to enjoy. This path is one which each of us needs to decide for ourselves how we wish to move forward. There are no guarantees that more of us will not contract Covid-19; however, we as a community and a society are learning how better to address and cope with this terrible attacker each day. We need to continue to respect each other, our decisions, and strive to make tomorrow the next best day of our lives. As we do a collective page turn on 2020, I am optimistic that we will return to our clubhouse, our normal fun filled days and evenings, outdoor concerts, and visitations of our friends and family unhampered by the fear that hangs over us. I believe we each bring unique and special talents and qualities to Cresswind. We have benefited from all who have lived, enjoyed, and contributed here. Our newer residents who have not yet had the opportunity to truly experience the best Cresswind has to offer will experience it shortly. We all need to embrace the events we plan to participate in in 2021 and reach out through our community to demonstrate that we have not loss our sense of community, our energy, our charity, love, and compassion. I wish you all a great year ahead. Dan Gershkowitz January/February | The Waterfall | Page 19

Also, anyone interested in bowling should consider getting on the substitute list where you may get called upon to bowl when a regular member is unavailable to bowl. Being a substitute is a great way to ease back into bowling if you have not bowled in a while. Just contact one of the Cresswind Bowling Board members to get signed up. For information about getting on the substitute list and additional information about the Cresswind Bowling League just click on the Cresswind ‘Bowling Club’ website link on the Cresswind Daily Update email.

What’s Happening

The Cresswind Neighborhood Theatre finished up their (unusual) 2020 season with a Tribute to Comedy Legends. Thanks to Joan Rivers, Rodney Dangerfield, Totie Fields, George Carlin and others for showing up and giving us a good hard laugh during these trying times. We have a few fun things planned for 2021 and hope that Covid will allow us to mount them. One way or another, we will get back up on stage and perform for our fellow neighbors! If you are interested in performing or working behind the scenes on our shows let us know so we can add you to the mailing list. This is the easiest way you can get all the latest announcements. Remember that there is NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! You just need a desire to work with your fellow neighbors and have some fun! We can be contacted at work with your fellow neighbors and have some fun! We can be contacted at cresswindtheatre@gmail.com.

What’s Happening Cresswind Veterans Club By Bill Edmondson

We, like so many of us, continue to deal with significant challenges during these difficult times as we aid our members and veterans in the Hall County area. Our club members have not been able to meet in some time, although your Board continues to hold meetings as necessary with hopes that we all can meet again in 2021. We continue to support our programs of Hospice visitation, court mentoring, and that of providing assistance to vets in need as referred to us. We are extremely thankful for the generosity and support of the Cresswind Community…we could not do it without your help. Our clothing drive last month was extremely successful; thanks to you, we collected large amounts of winter clothing, coats, and business attire to help those veterans in need. We are also looking at another raffle which may take place in early 2021, and top prize for that one will be a week’s stay at a vacation house on Hilton Head!

care program in which the VA shares the cost of covered health care services and supplies with eligible beneficiaries. Complete information on benefits and eligibility criteria can be found at https://www.va.gov/health-care/family-caregiverbenefits/champva/ Lastly, I would like to share with our community some photos taken at our clubhouse as we celebrated Veterans Day…a great crowd gathered to show honor and respect. Jay Swartz delivered a message, Mark Hopkins led us in prayer, and Julie Edmondson led us in song, “God Bless America.” Happy New Year…and please stay safe!

I would like to share a little information that may help some of you looking into VA benefits for yourself or a loved one--

1. Some veterans have questioned me on where they should go for assistance and who to call for help at the VA. You may be familiar with the VA Clinic in Oakwood, but if your questions are not a medical situation emergency, you would be best contacting the local VA office in Gainesville. The Georgia Department of Veteran Services has a small but very capable office at 311 Green St, Room #312, and users have proclaimed excellent customer service. Glenn Massey (GM) and Rico Johnson can be reached at 770-531-6060 and will gladly answer questions you may have and help you get started with any issue. Their fax is 770-531-6061, and email addresses are: • glenn.massey@vs.state.ga.us • rico.johnson@vs.state.ga

2. I have been questioned by a few veterans wanting to know what is CHAMPVA, how it works, and how to get it for your spouse. The Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) is a comprehensive health

Cooking Club Looking Forward To 2021

By Lisa Giblin

In October, the Cooking Club submitted our Ms Cupcake display for the Garden Event. It was so nice to walk the gardens on a beautiful day and view the submissions by our talented residents. For 2021, we have added three new members at large to our Board. They are Karen Geganto, Lynne Hayden, and Pat Morris. The remaining Board members are Lisa Giblin, President, Arlene Teare, Vice President, Wendy Roughton, Treasurer, Rosemary Shaffer, Secretary, Pam Snell, Membership and Robin Foster, Event Administrator.

As a reminder, we are not collecting dues for 2021 from those residents that paid for 2020. If you are unsure, go to Clubs and click on our Cooking Club website and then click on Cresswind Cooking Club 2020 membership list. If you are listed, there are no dues required. If you are not listed, please place your dues of $5 per person in the clubhouse mailbox labeled Cooking Club. We thank you for your support.

As far as 2021 we want, keeping COVID guidelines in mind, to host a Mardi Gras event on February 20th. The details will be worked on in January so be on the lookout. Kentucky Derby and Fish Fry are scheduled for outside in May. We are looking forward to leaving 2020 behind and to getting a fresh start in 2021.

Cresswind Garden Club By Sarah Galshack

Greetings from the Common Ground Community Garden. As you may have noticed all of the beds are tucked in for their long winter nap. Our gardeners are awaiting the arrival of their gardening catalogs so they can make plans for next springs plantings.

Garden box rentals will be renewed in January for the 2021-2022 season (March thru February). Residents interested in renting a garden box may sign up on our wait list by contacting Susan Dodd at susan8405@comcast.net. Starting in January, the Garden Club would like to get back to its monthly meetings featuring guest speakers. Watch the Daily Update for announcements.

We are also planning to have some special Garden Events in 2021 which will hopefully include a Spring Common Ground Open House, and a tour of some Cresswind Residential Gardens. Stay tuned for more information in this year.

On one of these beautiful winter days that we are so lucky to have, take a stroll through our Serenity Garden. We continue to add native plants and we now have a lovely variety of ferns. Sit a spell and enjoy our newly placed pine log benches. We thank the many folks who have contributed to the Gardens in a myriad of ways this past year and for the new year, donations are always welcomed to support our upcoming garden projects. Dear Ancestor Your tombstone stands among the rest Neglected and alone The name and date are chiseled out On polished, marble stone It reaches out to all who care It is too late to mourn You did not know that I’d exist You died and I was born. Yet each of us are cells of you In flesh, in blood, in bone. Our blood contracts and beats a pulse Entirely not our own. Dear Ancestor, the place you filled A hundred years ago Spreads out among the ones you left Who would have loved you so. I wonder if you lived and loved I wonder if you knew That some day I would find this spot And come and visit you. ---Author Unknown Interested in getting your family tree started?? What’s Happening

2021 Dance Rhythms (Free class) By Wendy O’Hanlon

I believe most of us are born with an innate ability for dance. Before we age and begin to worry about how we look we clap, rock, bop and groove to the rhythm of a song. Our bodies remind us now that we cannot always move in the manner to which we desire but our spirits are uplifted by an activity that challenges our minds and provides an enriching form of exercise. Wendy has been involved in many forms of dance and performance in her five years at Cresswind and has led the following dance clubs; Beginner line dance, Choreography, and Dance Rhythms. Currently there are clubs for Traditional and Cardio line dance, clogging (3 levels) and an outside ballet instructor. Wendy’s Choreography does require prior dance experience but Dance Rhythms is easier to follow, especially if you have taken dance fitness or Zumba in the past. The routines vary and begin at a slower pace and build to a more cardio fitness level and slow back

down at the end of the hour. You are encouraged to make modifications in movement if necessary. There have been some new songs added recently and at the time of this publication she is planning to have updated video links available on the Cresswind community website under the Club page. Routines include songs by Enrique Iglesias, Meghan Trainor, Abba, and movie hits. We will even have a Bollywood routine early 2021!

Dance sneakers are not required but supportive exercise shoes that have a smoother worn sole are a good substitute. Any questions or concerns please contact Wendy at golfgirl2011@att.net. The current class schedule is Tuesday 8:30 am and Sunday 3:30 pm in the Lanier Room. Dance like no one is looking!

Cresswind Community Chorus By Chuck Bridwell If these were normal times our Cresswind Community Chorus would have just finished their Holiday Music Celebration

in December. And in January, they would begin to prepare

for their annual Spring Music Spectacular. But these are not normal times.

Chorus rehearsals ceased last March and the plan for 2021 is

Comprehensive Cancer Care close to home

to resume rehearsals in April to prepare for a first ever Summer Music Spectacular in July. This will take the place of their

traditional Spring Music Spectacular. Then, after a two-month break the chorus will begin again in September to prepare for their annual Holiday Music Celebration in December.

Cresswind Chorus members are looking forward to their new beginning and are always open to greeting new members.

There is no audition, but new members must be ready to enjoy wonderful music and belong to a fun family of singers.

Make & Take By Kathie Zeranski Thank you to all who have sent me their names and emails to go on the Art List. I will continue to add names so that when we are ready to start having classes again, we will have a good list to send out the information. While the Clubhouse is open, there has not been an interest in teaching classes yet. Hopefully this will change soon and we can start enjoying arts & crafts again. Any of our talented neighbors that may be thinking about teaching a class in the future, please send me an email. We can look at the January calendar or even February and start planning. If you want your name on the contact list, please email me at ZKathie54@gmail.com

What’s Happening

The Quilting Club By Evelyne Palmer

The Quilting Club ended 2020 on a successful note even though we were not able to return to meet as a Club. Working individually, the Club has completed a total of 200 lap quilts (100 more since October 2018) and they were delivered to Legacy Link in time for distribution to those in need. We are very proud of this accomplishment, and thank the Cresswind community for supporting us at the Fall Festival where we sold our projects, guaranteeing materials for 2021 donations. Our Club is small but all members play a big role leading to our success. This year our Club will be led by Jonnie Grimm, who will challenge us even more by introducing new and different techniques, along with favorites of individual members who will be teaching their projects. We welcome any resident to join us. Contact Jonnie at jonniegrimm@outlook.com or Sheran Connolly at sheranconnolly@gmail.com for information. We are slowly starting to return and meet every Thursday, 1:00 to 4:00 pm in the Arts and Craft room in restricted numbers. Stop by, meet us, and see the work we do. We do many quilting related projects, big and small, work at individual levels, and have fun! MASKS continue to be a requirement. The Club is available to offer assistance to our fellow residents if you have any quilting projects you started and now have the time to finish.

Cresswind Investment Club

By Janet Nelson A slate of officers for 2021 was elected, which includes: Leo Cortjens, President Len Greco, Vice president, Debbie Coursey-Prah, Treasurer Jack George, Assistant Treasurer, Lois Dillard, Secretary, Janet Nelson and Cathy Hoskinson, members at large. We continue to meet on Zoom, which has worked quite well for several months. Tennis Club By Sandy Barmak

The fall weather was perfect for getting out and playing tennis! Our members really took advantage of the great playing conditions. Those who participated in our fall tennis league had a great time and enjoyed the friendly competition. The Slammers, led by Norman Slovis, won the fall league over the Cresswinners, captained by Debbie Cortjens. By popular demand, we will plan a late winter/early spring league to continue the fun. We expect even greater participation since everyone had such a good time. Bill Papciak and his team of volunteer instructors held December clinics to help everyone sharpen their skills and improve their strategy while playing. Individual lessons were also offered. We are very appreciative of the time and effort they put into helping members of our Tennis Club. Our Annual Meeting was held in November. Congratulations to the following officers who were elected for 2021. President: Vice President: Secretary: Treasurer:

CAMPER CORNER: CLL RV Club By Linda Gillot

The Cresswind RV Club never stops planning. We are always in search of new places to go and things to see. A group of adventure-seekers recently spent a week of fun in the sun at Orange Beach, Alabama, and two weeks later a large group stayed a few days in Pine Mountain, Georgia, to view the Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights show. We especially like to travel to places within a one-day driving distance. We love to explore everything from museums to caves, to the Grand Ole Opry, to remote villages of historical significance, to the sea shore, etc. So, if you have any destination suggestions for us, we would love to hear them – whether you own an RV or not! Email us at cll.rvclub@gmail.com. If you live in Cresswind, you do own an RV, and you would like to learn more about our dues-free club, go to our webpage at https://sites.google.com/site/cllrvclub/. We would love to have you join us on our next outing, which could take you just about anywhere!

Community Travel Club By Pam Papciak

“Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times.” ~ Anonymous Traveling is a wonderful way to make new memories, meet neighbors, and make new friends. The Community Travel Club welcomes all Cresswind residents to be part of our club. If you were a 2020 member, your dues have carried over through 2021. For everyone else interested in joining us on 2021 trips, the dues are $5.00 per person, payable to CTC and easily deposited in our Cresswind mailbox. Mark your calendars for our General Meetings the first Thursday of every month in the Ballroom at 4:00pm to hear about future trips. Due to COVID-19, we will wait until March to hopefully begin General Meetings and planned trips. Many of the great outings we had to cancel in 2020 will be rescheduled for the Spring of 2021! As a member, you will receive monthly emails informing you about our upcoming trips, so you can plan ahead for those tours that interest you. We will have a wide range of trips for your enjoyment this year: sporting events, plays, historical sites, and concerts. In December, a group of CTC members spent three days in Asheville and the surrounding area. There were many highlights including the amazing candlelight tour of the Biltmore Estate decked out in Christmas finery, sampling craft beer at local breweries, taking in the

Social Singles By Elaine Vetter

Social Singles continues to find ways to connect despite the colder winter temps and limited clubhouse access. Several late-afternoons found members gathered to socialize on the back patio while the sun was still shining. And the pavilion was the scene of “Friendsgiving on the Friday after Thanksgiving where 25 members enjoyed an afternoon of visiting along with a boxed lunch from Honey Baked Ham. The Kayaking group made several trips out on the water before the colder air chased them home and the hiking group still continues to fit in walks at area parks with an occasional lunch together afterwards. The annual Holiday party was moved to the patio where members gathered to share holiday cheer and warm up by the fireplace.

Looking ahead to 2021, we hope to schedule more activities and social events both indoors and out. If you are single and would like to get involved or want more information, please access our link on the Cresswind website and share your contact information. We would love to have you join us.
