Gate Project Work is underway at the front entrance to add a second lane for Resident Only use. This work will coincide with a technology upgrade that will improve access control at our gates for residents and their guests. New access options will be available that include RFID readers to detect resident’s cars as they enter and automatic opening of the Resident Only gate if a resident chooses to buy an RFID tag for their vehicle. Existing gate clickers will still operate the new high speed gates. The paving of the new lane will be done in conjunction with the repaving and repair of the golf cart paths and marina parking lot in late July. The project is expected to be complete in August.

Clubhouse Project You may have noticed a lot of extra activity around the clubhouse recently. Starting in late 2020 a Clubhouse Committee was convened to consider updates to the clubhouse interior. Initial meetings included many residents of various ages and tenures in the community. Harbour Point would like to thank the following participants for the input and time contributed to this effort at several meetings across several months. Committee input was provided by Roger McQueen, Angela Ewers, Brenda Schulte, Tom Schulte, Carolyn Boldt, Tom Meyer, Gail Newsome, Kenny Flowers, Leesa Stoner, Rixey Jones and Rich Wilson. Our community was blessed to have two newer residents jump feet-first into this project. We got the incredible benefit of years of professional design experience given to us by Carolyn Boldt and Brenda Schulte who are responsible for taking the ideas developed in committee meetings and bringing them to life with beautiful design, color and texture. Carolyn’s current industry connections have allowed Harbour Point access to trade pricing in many areas including luxury commercial flooring, furniture and lighting. Through this process Brenda and Carolyn have worked tirelessly for months putting together all the details including new paint colors to blend with new selections as well as remaining existing furniture, new seating (coming in August) in the Captains Hall, new dining tables and much more. They have been masterful at using as many of the existing pieces as possible while creating a much more current and luxurious feel throughout the clubhouse. Accessories throughout the building have been updated including new art in all the bathrooms which have also been upgraded to have motion sensing lighting as you enter. One of the great byproducts of Carolyn and Brenda getting involved in this project was them developing a new friendship through the process. The early committee meetings focused on functionality, what was desired from a “how we want it to be used” perspective. The consensus was that the clubhouse should be a more regularly used facility with more comfortable seating and areas for casual gatherings among neighbors. Adding more functional square dining-style tables in the Captain’s Hall that can be used for other activities such as Mahjong, Bridge and Bunco was one consideration as was comfier group seating for frequent events such as Happy Hour. The previous “Map Room” has the best view in the clubhouse, and the idea to convert that to a casual

8

lounge or reading room was born. A new television in the front entry would provide a place to showcase our neighborhood to prospective new residents as well as to share photos and information to current residents. The unworking static-laced audio system in the Captain’s Hall needed an upgrade for both everyday use and special events with 100W Klipsh speakers and a new Yamaha receiver that is WIFI enabled as well as offers Bluetooth connectivity. Downstairs the workout facility is getting a facelift with new paint, flooring, equipment and electronics which is partially done today with completion expected in July. There are other features discussed that may still be within the final budget such as a gourmet coffee bar upstairs additional television upgrades, additional audio upgrades and possible game tables. If the grill comes back to life in 2022 the expectation would be to replace the old grill seating with something new and updated. We hope you stop by the clubhouse sometime to check out the new changes in progress. To date the interior painting upstairs has been completed in all areas besides the new Lounge which is awaiting a water leak repair. That painting will take place later this summer once the repair is complete. Painting included all walls, ceilings, trim and even plantation shutters. The upstairs kitchen got a face lift with the removal of old wall paper and painting of all the cabinets from black and wood tones to white matching all the trim throughout the main level. New luxury commercial carpet was just installed in late June along with 4 new ceiling fans with LED lights as well as a new centerpiece chandelier in the Captain’s Hall. Other lighting is coming soon but on backorder from the manufacturer. That includes new chandeliers for the reception area and new sconces to replace those in the Reception, Lounge and Captain’s Hall. Touch up painting will happen when the Lounge (former Map Room) is painted. Your patience through this process has been very much appreciated by the committee. We know it has been an inconvenience to some who participate in bridge, mahjong and yoga. However we believe the final product will be a big asset to the entire community in a more functional and current clubhouse facility! Any questions related to this project can be directed to Charlotte Cliche at 770-633-5666 or Charlotte@ ClicheHouse.net.
