PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
From The Board Homeowners, If nothing else, this has been a month that none of us will forget. I hope that everyone is taking care of themselves during these difficult times. As for The Board, we are still discussing items when we can and are still working on keeping Hamilton Mill one of the premier neighborhoods in Atlanta. Hopefully, many of you have noticed that the front entrance has been redesigned. We hope everyone will enjoy the new look as much as we think you will. We are also installing large rocks at three of our entrances where there seem to be frequent accidents that damage the signs. The hope is that the rocks take much of the brunt of the damage and reduce the number of times we need to repair the signs. We have also installed rocks along the sidewalk by the pier to improve the look of that area. As for repairs, the Millview pool has been replastered, and we have ordered several parts to repair the playground (including a new slide). Additionally, we have replaced the sand filters at the Lakeview pool. As a side note, I would like to throw out a HUGE THANK YOU to Maureen and the Shaben team as well as Joe Carr from the cleaning company and Tyler from Sweetwater. Joe’s team noticed water in the fitness center and notified Maureen who then notified Tyler. They immediately went over, stopped the leak from the filters, setup humidifiers and dried up most of the water that had flowed into the workout room before any damage could occur. They did all of this on a Friday night, and I am confident in saying their quick actions saved our community thousands of dollars in repairs. Projects that are next to tackle include replacing the tennis court lights with halogen lights, updating our website and working on improving silt management for the lake. Finally, while we have, unfortunately, had to cancel many of the spring events that our homeowners look forward to April and the Social Committee are hard at work in putting together some events that we may be able to hold while maintaining the social distancing guidelines that are in place. Stay tuned for more information on these. I hope everyone stays safe, and I look forward to the day when we get back to taking advantage of the amenities we all love to use.
Regards, Jerry Hanes President, Hamilton Mill HOA

GRADUATION BANNERS I hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time! Despite the obvious disappointment ALL graduating seniors and their families/friends are experiencing right now due to canceled senior events, we want to support our graduates as much as possible. From May 1st until Memorial Day weekend, we will have the display of Neighborhood Graduation Banners for the Class of 2020. Although neighborhood banners are strictly for HS Seniors, you are free to put up a banner or yard sign of your special graduate in your yard if you choose. Please enjoy the wonderful yearbook-like spread of our Graduates, organized by our Activities Director, April Williams. Thank you to the Hamilton Mill Board of Directors, Maureen Murphy from our HOA, Russell Landscape, and April Williams for your leadership and direction in allowing the placement of Graduation Banners within our Community.
I would like to sincerely extend many, many thanks to all of the wonderful organizers from every participating neighborhood for stepping up to represent your neighborhood, especially in light of the recent crisis we are faced with. This has been an amazing journey and will have an incredible end! Thank you all for your time and effort. Thank you to Jeni Houser (GA Signs), Kristin Ledford (Kreative Signs), and Nathan Sellers (A Better Sign) for your time, skill, and expertise in creating the amazing banners we will soon be delighted to see. We live in an amazing community and this pandemic will not define who we are... please stay safe!!
CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERY GRADUATE FROM THE CLASS OF 2020! Sincerely,
Jacqueline Johnson, Graduation Banners Subcommittee

This Could Be You! day you notice a small fleck of discolored paint peeling on your Imagine ...one breakfast room wall. Next thing you know, you find yourself with a sledge hammer and pry bar ripping out sheetrock in your beautiful kitchen and discovering tens of thousands of live termites eating and destroying your wall. It’s obvious to you that they’ve already done thousands of dollars in damages. That’s what termites do to beautiful homes just like yours every day. By the time you discover their presence, the damage is done. And when you realize the whole thing was easily preventable, it makes you sick to your stomach!
Termites: A $5 Billion Threat Eastern subterranean termites are the most typical species that attacks homes in Georgia. These damages are not covered by your homeowner’s insurance. Don’t be a victim. Call Today!!

AROUND THE COMMUNITY HI NEIGHBORS, I know this is usually the part of the newsletter where we have “Around Town” events for the upcoming month in Gwinnett County and Atlanta. I started doing research and just like a lot of our events here in the neighborhood and in our own lives, they are canceled. Postponed. Closed. These uncertain times can be discouraging, cause anxiety, stress, worry… the list goes on. But I’d like to focus on some of the good I’ve seen these past several weeks. The weather has been amazing (and right now, as I am writing this on Tuesday, April 6), I can hear my kids playing, birds singing, not a cloud in the sky – you start to appreciate these things when everything slows down. I’m getting about one week to the gallon on my minivan. I have spent more time in my backyard playing with my kids than I ever have. I have also spent way more money on food than I ever have! (Does anyone else have this problem with EVERYONE being home?!?) I have seen our community come together in many ways to be helpful to others. People are setting up Compassion Stations to collect food and donating to local Coops. Girl Scout Troops are donating those beloved cookies to nurses and staff. People are sharing on social media how to make masks and where to donate them. People are lighting candles and sending good thoughts and prayers to everyone in the Healthcare world and for the people that are sick. People are supporting our local musicians via Live shows online. People are on family bike rides, walks and playing outside every day. People are creating Scavenger Hunts for the kids to find stuffed animals in their neighbors’ windows. People are creating amazing art and learning new skills. People are meeting with friends and colleagues via Zoom and FaceTime so they can interact safely. People have a whole new appreciation for teachers. People are having birthday party parades for their friends so they can celebrate these special milestones. People are just generally nicer to each other, aren’t scared to say “good morning”, or offer help to those that need it. That is what I am seeing “Around Town”. Keep up the good work Hamilton Mill. We will get through this together. And if you are a hugger… get ready. This has been a hard time for us huggers! I look forward to our summer events and seeing everyone again! Much love, April Williams, Activities Director and Communications
