CALLING ALL

If it takes a village to raise a child you can only imagine how many people it takes to run a neighborhood the size of Hamilton Mill. In addition to the seven Board members and property managers we also utilize volunteers in various areas to help keep this neighborhood known as a premium place to live in Atlanta. Many people shy away from volunteering for committees or being on the Board because “I just don’t have enough time”. The reality is you can be an active member on any of our committees just by attending one meeting a month.

The following Committees are always looking for new members that are passionate about helping improve on what he have already built in the neighborhood:

GROUNDS AND FACILITIES

The G&F facility is the largest committee we have and is instrumental in ensuring residents and guests have a great visual as they drive throughout the community. This committee is currently helping restructure most of the entrances in Hamilton Mill as well as working with Russell Landscape and other vendors with all of the common areas and amenities in the neighborhood.

NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS

VOLUNTEERS SOCIAL

COMMITTEE

Hopefully, many of you have either seen or been involved with one of the many social events that we have in the neighborhood. The Social Committee works with our Activities Director to plan and help run events that cater to the different groups of residents we have among our 2,300 homes.

TENNIS COMMITTEE

Atlanta is well known as a tennis town and Hamilton Mill is a very active participant in the tennis community. Between ALTA, USTA, T2 and others there is no shortage of opportunities to play league tennis and we boast one of the most robust Junior tennis programs in the area for youth instruction. Our tennis committee is a critical component of success for these as they ensure we have captains for teams, league coordinators as well as working with our Tennis Director on events, clinics and drills designed to benefit players of all skill levels.

PICKLEBALL COMMITTEE

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and many of our residents are joining in the fun. We had five teams sign up for ALTA’s very first season of pickleball and we fully expect this growth to continue. This is also our newest committee, and we desperately need more volunteers to help us get this fledgling sport going in the neighborhood.

There are also committees we would like to put together for two more critical areas within Hamilton Mill:

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Strong financial practices are one of the most critical areas of focus for any Board of Directors and ours is no different. Hamilton Mill’s 2024 operating budget was over $2.4M with another $1.6M in budgeted capital projects. Monthly reporting, General Ledger maintenance, Reserve Study review and updating and other fiduciary responsibilities is a daunting task. We are looking for finance-minded residents who can work with the Board Treasurer and our Property Management Company to ensure we stay as financially sound in the future as we are today.

TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

As technology continues to become ultra critical in our lives it is also becoming critical to the neighborhood. We provide amenity ID’s to all residents 12 and older, have cameras installed for monitoring across the neighborhood and numerous other technologies, including our website, that require attention to ensure we stay up to date. We are actively looking for a few tech savvy residents who can assist with the management of our technology assets, including our digital assets.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

As we mentioned at the beginning of this article there are seven Board of Directors who make the final decision on all things HOA related for the neighborhood. We currently have one vacancy on the Board that will need to be filled in this year’s election in addition to two other members who will be up for re-election should they choose to run again. While being on the Board of Directors requires more time than being on a committee it is still not as time consuming as many people think it is and with the strength of our committee volunteers can be a role that is as much rewarding as it is challenging.

If you are interested in volunteering for any of the above committees or would like more information on running for the Board of Directors please feel free to email us at hmillboard@gmail.com.

Board of Directors, Hamilton Mill

When like-minded seniors are able to share their mutual experiences of aging, the care that they give and receive can feel more compassionate because there is a deeper level of understanding. With a compassionate companion providing assistance, seniors can continue to live happily and age gracefully in the comfort of their own home without sacrificing their independence. Loved ones can feel comforted by the fact that our trusted Caregivers are thoroughly vetted and qualified to provide compassionate care.
To provide our seniors with the ability to choose an independent lifestyle in their own homes, for as long as possible, with the dignity and respect they deserve by finding caring seniors to help each other.
