A FEW REMINDERS: 1. Don’t forget to pay your 2020 Assessment of $1000.00 due on January 1. It is late after February 1. 2. Holiday decorations need to be removed by January 10. 3. If you live near a detention/retention pond, please do not throw your yard waste in those areas. All items wash down stream and become a problem for your neighbors. 2019 Hamilton Mil l Angel Tree
For the past several years we have helped the Gwinnett Department of Family and Children Services with holiday gifts, and this year we had 15 foster children who counted on us to make their Christmas dreams come true‌ and Hamilton Mill, you sure did! We kicked off the Angel Tree season the week of November 11 with volunteers from the Social Committee setting up the tree in the Lakeview Clubhouse foyer. From there, several Hamilton Mill residents and friends came out and grabbed a tag (or two, or eight!) from the Angel Tree and went shopping. Thank you to all the families that donated wrapping supplies, went shopping for gifts and volunteered to wrap presents - not all elves are pictured, as we were too busy wrapping to take too many pictures! Additionally, we would like to thank the neighbors that pulled together and took care of the remaining tags that were still left on the tree. This is truly what this season is all about and these foster parents really do appreciate the help we give them in making Christmas happen for these kids! 10 | HOMETOWN HERALD | January 2020

Santa
BREAKFAST WITH
Breakfast with Santa was on Saturday, December 7, from 9-12 at the Lakeview Clubhouse. NEW THIS YEAR! THE GRINCH AND CINDY LOU WHO! 75 Hamilton Mill families came out and visited with Santa Claus and ate from a yummy breakfast bar of mini quiche, fruit, yogurt, and all the sugary breakfast favorites! Many families took pictures with the Grinch in Whoville and enjoyed Cindy Lou Who making balloons for the kids in line. Mr. and Mrs. Carr, Social Committee members, Maureen Murphy from Shaben, and Boy Scout Troop 1597 came out to be Santa’s little helpers, sell luminaries, and to help with the food donation drop offs. Hamilton Mill families collected a HUGE bin of food and canned goods for the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Food Pantry. A huge shout out to Tammy Maglovsky of Lasting Moments by Tammy for taking all of the pictures with Santa for Hamilton Mill families and friends. Thank you to Sharon Swanepoel, author of the Hashtag Big Bad Bully book for coming out and sharing kindness with the community. #HaveASweetHeartTreatAllGood We hope everyone had a great time visiting with each other, had many photo ops, and most of all had a very happy holiday!

RECIPES
APPLE CIDER CHICKEN
Nothing can help warm you to your toes in the dead of winter quite like the warm, spicy flavors of apple cider. We should clarify: This recipe features not *just* the flavors of apple cider, but also Dijon mustard, olive oil and rosemary. An easy, healthy dinner that cooks in just ONE PAN! INGREDIENTS 4 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil — divided 1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs — (about 8, depending on size) 1 teaspoon kosher salt — divided 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper — divided 1/2 cup fresh apple cider 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard 3 medium firm — sweet apples, cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices 2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary — plus additional for serving INSTRUCTIONS Heat 2 teaspoons of oil in a large skillet over medium high. Sprinkle the top of the chicken evenly with 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, add the chicken to the pan, top-side down. Let cook 4 minutes, then flip and continue cooking until the meat is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees, 3 to 4 additional minutes. Remove to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
In a small bowl or large measuring cup, stir together the apple cider and mustard. With a paper towel, carefully wipe the skillet clean. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons of oil to the pan over medium high. Once the oil is hot, add the apple slices, remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and rosemary. Cook for 5 minutes, until the apples are lightly tender and begin to turn golden. Return the chicken to the pan and pour the cider mixture over the top. Let cook for 4 to 5 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by half. Serve warm, sprinkled with additional chopped rosemary as desired.

WHERE YOU TAKE THEIR INJURY MATTERS
Even if your teen looks like a pro linebacker, he’s not. Your son might look like an adult on the field, but his body is still growing. Unlike other sports medicine choices, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta only treats growing athletes. We know what it takes to get them back doing what they love for years to come. It’s why where you take them matters. It’s why you take them to Children’s.
