FROM THE BOARD
DESIGN GUIDELINE UPDATES Homeowners,
The Board of Directors has just completed an exhaustive review of our Design Guidelines so we would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the changes that have been made. While many of the changes have been cosmetic in nature there are some areas where extensive work was done to either clarify or add new content to the document. Therefore, we have published two documents to the website, which can be found by going to the Document Center and clicking on the “HOA Governing Documents” folder: 1. Design Guidelines Revised June 2021 – Marked Up: This document, while not very pleasing to look at, details everything that was changed from the prior version to the new version. 2. Design Guidelines Revised June 2021: This document is a cleaned-up version with all changes made to make it easier to read. In addition to the cosmetic changes made, the following sections of the Design Guidelines have been updated and/or added in this version: • Roofing – Verbiage was added to address patching of existing roofs • Driveways – Verbiage was added to clarify the maximum length and width driveways must be. • Parking Pads - Verbiage was added to clarify the maximum length and width Parking Pads may be. • Exterior Lighting – Verbiage was added to address how far apart landscape lighting should be and where they should be installed. • Exterior Decorative Objects – Verbiage was added to clarify where bird houses, bird baths and bird feeders should be installed. • Woodpiles, Air Conditioning Units & Garbage Cans/Recycle Bins – Verbiage was added to clarify firewood piles including where and how much firewood can be stored as well as how it should be stored. • Basketball Goals – Added verbiage to reiterate that modification requests are required for all basketball goals. • Parking – Added verbiage to reiterate that car covers are not allowed for vehicles parked outside of a garage. • Landscaping – Verbiage was added regarding landscape spacing as well as flowerpots in landscape beds. • Solar Installation Design Guidelines (NEW) – Verbiage has been added providing guidance on the installation of solar energy devices and panels. • Exhibit “A” Fence Guidelines – Verbiage has been added that describes Type 3, 5, 6 and 7 fences to go with the pictures that are in the document. As usual we thank you for supporting the Board of Directors and the work we do to ensure Hamilton Mill remains a premiere neighborhood.

SOCIAL NEWS
Conner Lorre,
Variety of Legends Show What a wonderful night we had with Mr. Lorre! Hamilton Mill residents and guests came out on Saturday, July 10 for a special treat – Conner Lorre – straight from Las Vegas, to Branson, to right here in Dacula, GA! He started his singing impressionist show with Elvis and friendly competition between the men and the ladies in the room. He delighted us with songs from Neil Diamond, The Cars, Brooks and Dunn, Jimmy Buffet, Dean Martin, and even paid tribute to our flag and the veterans in the room with Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA”. Everyone had a great time singing along and answering the trivia questions! We hope to have Conner back very soon!

TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL NEWS
HAMILTON MILL WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME MICHELLE MILLIMAN!! “Six years ago, I found this crazy sport called Pickleball and quickly became addicted to the game! Pickleball has helped to improve my overall fitness level, introduced me to so many great people from all over, given me a fun, healthy and competitive outlet, and has taught me a ton about myself. I play and/or drill nearly every day, run competitive weekly pickleball challenges in Athens, as well as run Club Wars Pickleball tournaments which brings in over 300 competitors from several different states to each event. I LOVE introducing this amazing sport to new people as well as helping current players improve their pickleball game!” Michelle Milliman

As summer comes to a close and we begin to see the season change into Fall, the Social Committee would like to take this opportunity to celebrate one of our own -
April Williams. April has been an integral part of the Hamilton Mill community, serving on the social committee for the last 6 years and acting as the Activities Director for almost 5 of those years. During this time, April has been able to build wonderful events for our community to enjoy and look forward to each year. Her desire to grow current relationships and build new relationships with our event vendors has allowed Hamilton Mill to feel like home to those who have helped to bring our events to life. As April has welcomed in new Social Committee members, her love and commitment for this community has only served to be contagious to those around her. While she has worn many hats as our Activities Director, some visible and others behind the scenes, she has also been an amazing wife, mother, friend, business woman and leader. It is with a mixture of excitement and sadness that we say good-bye to April as our Activities Director. April- words will never be enough to convey our gratitude for having the ability to know, learn from and share our time with you. We are so excited to see you continue to be successful in this next chapter of your life and career. We know you and your family will continue to do wonderful things! We wish you all the happiness this change will bring and look forward to seeing your smiling face at future events!

RECIPE
Sangria
Versatile Cocktail for Any Season
Everyone should have a go-to sangria recipe in his or her cocktail repertoire. Sangria, when done right, can be a highly refreshing punch that is at home any time of the year. Sangria can be enjoyed on its own and sipped on a lazy, sunny afternoon, or paired with a delicious meal. Sangria recipes also can be changed according to the mixologist’s desired flavor profile. The goal is to avoid making sangria too sweet, which is why recipes often benefit from a variety of tart fruits and fresh herbs. This recipe for “Aprium Sangria” from “Edible Seattle: The Cookbook” (Sterling Epicure) by Jill Lightner features sour cherries and Apriums, which are an apricotplum hybrid. Apriums come in various colors and flavors. This sangria offers floral notes and sweetness, but also a touch of tartness from the cherries. When selecting a Sauvignon Blanc to mix in, opt for one that is not too sweet or acidic.

Aprium Sangria Makes 6 servings 3/4 3/4 2 8 1 3
cup pitted sour cherries cup sugar cups vodka apriums or plumcots peeled, pitted and diced (750 ml) bottle Sauvignon Blanc 12 ounce bottles dry cucumber soda
Directions 1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the cherries and sugar, stirring and pressing the fruit to extract the juice and dissolve the sugar. Remove from the heat as soon as all the sugar is dissolved and let cool. Combine the cherries and vodka in a small pitcher and refrigerate overnight. 2. The next day, strain out the cherries, pressing the fruit firmly to extract plenty of juice. In a large pitcher, gently blend the cherry-flavored vodka with the apriums, then slowly pour in the bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, stirring gently. Chill for at least 3 hours. 3. To serve, add a few ice cubes to a highball glass and fill the glass two-thirds of the way with sangria, using a spoon if necessary to make sure each glass has a generous serving of fruit. Top up with dry cucumber soda and gently stir to combine.
