GRADUATION BANNERS FOR CLASS OF 2019
Wishing you and your family the happiest of New Years!
Time is quickly passing by and as we embrace another year, many of us are getting prepared for our soon-to-be-graduates ending one chapter in life and beginning a new one. I'd like to thank all of you who have contacted me so far to volunteer for your neighborhood's group Graduation Banner! As you know, I have compiled a contact list, so please be on the lookout for any updated information via text and/or email within the next week or so. Since October's posting in the Hometown Herald, NextDoor, Hamilton Mill website, social media, and word of mouth; we are more than halfway with neighborhood volunteers. We are still in need of volunteers/liaisons for the following neighborhoods: Cambridge
Fairway Bend
Lake Forest
Chadbourne
Greenside Park
Laurel Ridge
Coventry
High Point
Oakbrooke
Fairpointe
Huntfield
Woodleaf
If you live in a neighborhood that will not have a 2019 graduate, please send in an email so your neighborhood can be removed from this years' list. Volunteers don't necessarily have to have a 2019 graduate but can have a future graduate, had a past graduate, or just willing to help out for your neighborhood. If you are interested, please send an email to congratz.grad@gmail.com with your name, neighborhood, and contact information. We will be having our 1st informational meeting to discuss all the particulars on Wednesday, January 30th at 7:00pm in the Lakeview Conference Room. Again, thank you all for your help and see you at the meeting! Neighborly yours,
Jackie Johnson

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA 2018 Breakfast with Santa was on Saturday, Dec 1 from 9-12 at the Lakeview Clubhouse. Over 100 families came out and visited with our Elf that made balloons for the kids while they waited in line, sat with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and ate from a yummy breakfast bar of biscuits, gravy, ham and fixin’s, fruit, yogurt, and cinnamon rolls! Mr. and Mrs. Carr and Boy Scout Troop 1597 came out to be Santa’s little helpers, sell luminaries, and to help with the food donation drop offs. Hamilton Mill families collected three HUGE bins of food and canned goods for the Hamilton Mill United Methodist Food Pantry. A huge shout out to Tammy Maglovsky of Lasting Moments by Tammy for taking all of the pictures with Santa for Hamilton Mill families and friends. Pictures with Santa are such precious memories… thank you for capturing them! We hope everyone had a great time visiting with each other, had many photo ops, and most of all a very happy holiday!

SOCIAL NEWS
THE 2018 HAMILTON MILL ANGEL TREE For the past several years we have helped the Gwinnett Department of Family and Children Services with holiday gifts, and this year we had 15 foster children who counted on us to make their Christmas dreams come true‌ and Hamilton Mill, you sure did! We kicked off the Angel Tree season the week of November 12 with volunteers from the Social committee setting up the tree in the Lakeview Clubhouse foyer. From there, several Hamilton Mill residents and friends came out and grabbed a tag (or four!) from the Angel Tree and went shopping. Hamilton Mill is beyond generous when buying gifts for these kids, and these foster parents surely do appreciate you and your support. Thank you to all the families that went shopping for gifts, volunteered to wrap presents, donated wrapping supplies, and for the neighbors that pulled together and took care of the last tags on the tree. This is truly what this season is all about and we thank you!

TENNIS TIP
How often should I restring my racket? One practice that is commonly overlooked by tennis players is restringing their racket. Most professional players restring their rackets every day that they play, but stringing frequency for recreational players can range from a few weeks to a decade. Unfortunately, lack of restringing can impede the performance of the racket. Strings begin to lose tension almost immediately after stringing is completed. They lose about 10% in the first 24 hours and continue to decrease every time you play. As the tension decreases, the performance also decreases. So, how often should you restring? Generally, for year-round players, you should restring your racket a minimum of 4 times per year. If you play 5 or more times per week or use polyester strings, you should restring 5-6 times per year. Keep in mind that even with a racket that has not been used, the strings will lose all its useful tension after six months. By maintaining the string bed, you will get the highest performance from your racket.
