Community Newsletter Summer 2020 SUMMER IS HERE!
Inside this issue
How wonderful to see all of the beautiful landscaping within Mundy Mill. It’s such a nice drive looking at everything. We hope everyone is staying safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the protests that are happening around Gainesville. The weather is warmer and more enjoyable. Evenings by a fire pit with family and friends. Bar-B-Q’s, lake life and boating are underway. Will schools open in the fall? Will virtual schooling continue? These questions are on everyone’s mind.

from the manager
A Message from the Manager I hope this finds everyone safe and healthy! What a year 2020 has been for everyone. Trying to navigate everyday life with the implemented restrictions everywhere. I, for one, look forward to everything going back to normal, but will it really go back to normal? Only time will tell. I have been dealing with the same issues in my community where I live as everyone else. Not having the pool open in my community, but still having to pay my HOA dues. When I say I understand, it is truly meant. I have had a chance to go on vacation recently. Seeing my son every six (6) months is hard, but when we are together, along with his friends, we have the best times. This year we rented a cabin in Pigeon Forge for a long weekend and visited the Titanic Exhibit. We even had a mama bear and her cubs visit our cabin and try to get into our trash cans. I have pictures of our trash cans with bear paw prints on them. We always manage to get one day of boating in on Lake Allatoona! It was a beautiful day! With all of the restrictions and no pool to swim in, we compromised and went to the beaches at Lake Allatoona and spent the day Bar-B-Qing and swimming in the lake! Everyone had a great time! I hope everyone has been enjoying their time at home and nearby Lake Lanier! Having lived in Philadelphia most of my life and only being an hour and a half drive away from the beaches, the lake is a nice compromise and living only 5 minutes away from Lake Allatoona is great!

The Pros and Cons of Social Media Pulled from a Face Book comment There are many useful avenues for Social Media. We can all make a list of the Pros to using Social Media. For some examples: keeping up with family and friends, invitations for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, keeping up with the news, weather and so much more. We enjoy the animal videos that are shared, the photos of people we don’t live close to and even renewing old friendships once lost can now be found. We all have some type of Social Media avenue that we use. It is a great source of information at our fingertips. But Social Media can also be used for hate, which we can all agree is a Con. People are very strong behind a screen with what is posted on Social Media. Some can even say it is a way to bully someone. There have been many reports of young people committing suicide over rumors, innuendos and untruths being thrown at them on Social Media. No matter what age a person is, if you are attacking them, it is a type of bullying. The attackers don’t care how it affects the person even if what they are spewing is completely false. They get a rush or a high when other people respond to their posts. It’s an addiction that they can’t shake. These individuals are small minded people who are afraid. Again, they feel powerful sitting behind a screen where they can’t be seen and love reading comments that agree with their post. If someone doesn’t agree with their post they get even more outraged and attack the person who is only expressing their opinion, but as long as it’s not the person’s opinion who created the post, they don’t want to hear it. Social Media is now a tool that the courts use when a lawsuit is proceeding and can be very damaging in a trial. Individuals who use Social Media must always think about what they post and should always be careful. Use Social Media wisely and it is packed with fun videos and heartwarming thoughts from friends and family and even individuals that are unknown.

THE 2020 SUMMER SEASON IS HERE! THE ASSOCIATION UNDERSTANDS EVERYONE’S FRUSTRATION OVER THE POOLS NOT BEING OPEN, BUT THE RESIDENTS AND THEIR SAFETY IS OUR FIRST PRIORITY. SAFETY HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE TOP PRIORITY WHEN THE POOLS ARE OPEN SO WE HAVE INCLUDED INFORMATION ABOUT THE POOLS AT MUNDY MILL POOL HOURS The pool opens at 8:00 a.m. for Mundy Mill Residents. The pool closes each evening at 10:00 p.m. and Pool Monitors go off duty. POOL SAFETY Please pay close attention to the pool rules which are intended to ensure a safe environment for all residents. Please be aware that Pool Monitors are primarily responsible for making sure the rules of the pool are being complied with. Parents are responsible for monitoring and supervising their children at all times, while in the water and on deck, and ensuring they observe the rules for their own safety. The majority of our parents are diligent in this regard, but there still are too many instances of unsupervised children. We ask that you give your utmost attention to this and your full understanding and cooperation to the Pool Monitors. POOL CLOSURES Please be aware that pool management and staff have the discretion to close any pool for safety and weather related reasons. If a Pool Monitor hears or sees lightening or thunder, everyone will be asked to get out of the pool. If lightening is seen, the monitors may direct everyone to leave the pool area. The waiting period before pool/pool area reentry is permitted is 20 minutes for thunder and 30 minutes for lightening. The clock starts over each time a monitor hears thunder or sees lightening.
POOL RULES HIGHLIGHTS • There is no smoking within the pool or amenity areas, this includes vaping. We have had serval reports of vaping at the pool and this is prohibited! • There have been several complaints about loud music being played at the pools. If you are using a Bluetooth device to listen to music, it must only be at a volume where the owner can hear it and not disturb others around the pool area. If you are asked to tun the music down by either management, pool monitors or residents, please do. If you do not comply you will be asked to leave the pool are immediately, we want everybody to be able to enjoy their day at the pools. • Only pool toys are allowed. This does not include footballs, soccer balls, etc. If you are caught with anything other than a pool toy, it will be confiscated until you leave the pool. • There are NO FOOD to be eaten with in the pool gates. This draws ants and we have had to hire pest contraol to treat for the ants. Please take your food to one of the pavilions (if it is not being used) or any of the picnic tables that are provided outside of the pool gates. • There is NO GLASS containers allowed within the pool gates. If glass breaks and falls into the pool, the HOA would have to shut the pool down for a week or more. The pool would have to be completely drained, cleaned and refilled. Not only is the time consuming but is very costly to have done. • CHAIRS ARE PROHIBITED IN THE POOLS Rules and regulations are set for your safety and enjoyment when using the pool. Please adhere to every one of the rules posted on the walls of the pool houses.
Joy Rico, Mary Rico and Nelle-Kate Lothridge organize a lemonade and cookies sale to raise money for Family Promise and the Boys and Girls Club of Gainesville, to teach about racism and spreed a message of love.

She has worked at Cresswind at Lake Lanier for 6 years and is a part of the FirstService Residential Family. Carolyn is a lifelong resident of Gainesville, and resides here with her husband Bobby, and son Tommy. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, knitting, gardening, and doing all kinds of crafts. She is a huge asset to Mundy Mill and I hope everyone gets a chance to meet her and say hello.
We love our community! If you have any creative ideas for our community we would love to hear from you!

Safety in our Community As we would all like to keep Mundy Mill safe, there are a few things that you can do as a part of the community. Street Light Outages If you see a street light out, it is a simple fix. Jackson EMC has a hotline to report street light outages. Simply get the number off of the pole that is out and call (770) 536-2415. They will take the information and then dispatch someone to come and fix the light. Known thefts or suspicious activity Call the Police! We do have police patrolling the community. However, the patrols will increase if there are reports of known thefts or suspicious activity.
Stay Safe!
