Take the time to refresh your mailbox and replace any missing numbers: • Mailbox and Post: Must be painted with a Black Satin Finish • Flag: Must be painted in high visible Emergency Red Gloss exterior paint • Reunion Logo/Medallion: Must be painted in a Metallic Antique Gold with a paint marker such as Testers Enamel Markers or American Accents Leafing Pen • Mailbox Numbers: If your numbers need replacing, they should be 2” gold numbers on both sides of the mailbox. 3 Learn the game of a lifetime! Join us for a fun week of tennis taught by certified USPTR tennis professional and Reunion resident Jamie Gessner. Camp will focus on proper stroke technique, footwork, combining shots, and keeping the ball in play. Players will learn through drills and fun tennis games to become a more consistent player. Good sportsmanship, proper court etiquette, and basic rules of the game will also be stressed throughout the week. Kids will play with lower compression balls that are provided for quicker success. EMPTY NESTERS MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME
When you aren’t allowed to do something for a lengthy period of time, the natural instinct when the restrictions are lifted is to make up for lost time. Well, the co-hosting couples of Gail & Ted Sawyer and Nancy & Ron Scroggins did exactly that by packing what would ordinarily have been two Empty Nester events into one fun filled occasion. In the late afternoon of May 15th, 48 (fully vaccinated) members of the Reunion Country Club Empty Nester group gathered at The Meeting House for their second monthly event since the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions. The gala started at 5 o’clock in the afternoon with a spirited Bocce team competition on the Village Green. Six 4 person teams squared off in good natured Bocce combat. Time restraints would not allow for the usual playoff competitions to determine the ultimate Empty Nester Bocce Champs, so “winner” awards were given to the individual matches on the three courts of play. At the end of the heated “Bocce Battle”, the winning teams were: Court #1- Kate & David Newell and Loretta & John Summerville Court #2- Joanne Giel, Joellen Marshall and Maria & Alan Turk. Court #3- Loraine Horner, Peggy Reiland, Shirley Weaver and Tom Benson

After a brief period of celebration and congratulatory high fives, the players and spectators retired to The Meeting House for dinner and a short business and announcement meeting. In respect of some continued Covid concerns, attendees had been given the option of bringing their own food for the event or bringing the traditional covered dish for the communal buffet. The buffet was delicious, as usual, and everyone enjoyed the fellowship and conversation that accompanies the “breaking of bread” togetherness. After the meal, the entertainment continued. With Jack Sposa on bass and Don Smith on acoustic guitar the Empty Nesters joined in for a group sing along. Several all-time bon- fire sing along favorites including “Blowin’ in the Wind”, “Puff, the Magic Dragon”, “House of the Rising Sun” and other tunes brought out the shower stall diva personas of the group and The Meeting House was filled with cheerful melodies. Many thanks go to Glenn Rush for the use of his amplifiers, microphones and mic stands to make the event complete, and louder. As usual, thanks go to the worker bees that helped with setup and cleanup before and after the event. Special thanks go to Peggy & Mike Reiland for their assistance and direction in setting up the Bocce courts. And, lastly, thanks to everyone for dropping their modesty and inhibitions while belting out tunes during the sing along.

Pickleball interest in Reunion continues to grow. Several Residents have contacted us to find out what this fun sport is all about. In fact some of these new Reunion Pickleball players attended a Beginners Clinic on May 25 conducted by Susan Chambers, US Pickleball Association Ambassador. Another Clinic is scheduled on June 12 and we’ll share some highlights of that one in a future Patriot. The Pickleball courts are reserved every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9–11am, and Wednesday evenings from 7–9pm for open play. There are no leagues or teams, we just play matches and have fun. So come join us and we’ll help you get started. Anyone living in Reunion can reserve a pickleball court anytime from 7am–11pm.
