REALTOR?
When my wife, Brenda, and I made our decision to sell our home in Flowery Branch, we were sure that our agent of choice would be Michelle Vanderwolf with Keller Williams Realty. We were very familiar with her service in our neighborhood through friends and acquaintances. She walked us through the steps that we needed to take to prepare the home for sale, staged the home beautifully, and was very diligent in negotiating the several offers that we received. With her years of experience, we were able to sell our home for top dollar. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
I can’t speak highly enough of Michelle Vanderwolf (GeorgiaHomesOnMyMind) as our real estate agent. She responded fast all of the time and got the best price for our house! She made everything very easy to navigate and was always available and helpful. Her professionalism, knowledge, honesty, integrity and hard work ethics are very much appreciated and respected. I’ll definitely reach out to Michelle Vanderwolf in the future and I recommend her to all my friends and family!

Play like DAN. Bank STRONG.
UGA defensive back Dan Jackson has the can-do spirit and talent that is making him a standout for the Bulldogs. A North Hall High graduate, Dan started his college football career as a walk-on. He quickly worked up to becoming a starting player, even earning the nickname “Dirty Dan” for his solid hits.
Dan’s rising star story is much like the rise of the Braselton area, growing from a small town into a vibrant community and hub for business and medical practices. Peach State is proud to be a partner in the success and strength of our hometown.
GivingSeasonmeans
The changing of seasons is refreshing to the soul. For children and families in crisis, a change in season may feel like a breath of fresh air. You can be a part of this change for the children and families at Eagle Ranch by making a gift to support our child and family renewal programs.
A great way to do this is through the Eagle Ranch Honor and Memorial Gift Program, where you can make a gift in honor of a family member or friend, to celebrate a special occasion, or in memory of a loved one.

A ‘Zero-Zero-Start’: Pickleball Organizer Moved from Reunion
Reunion Pickleball lost one of its founding members in September.
Brian Stancill, who was instrumental in getting our neighborhood involved in the fastest growing sport in America, has moved to another part of Hall County. He leaves behind a legacy of time, energy and good humor—and opening up a sport to many of us who had never heard of Pickleball.
Brian Stancill, who was instrumental in getting our neighborhood involved in the fastest growing sport in America, has moved to another part of Hall County. He leaves behind a legacy of time, energy and good humor and opening up a sport to many of us who had never heard of Pickleball.
“Brian is a great neighbor,” said Ron Scroggins, who lived next door to Brian and his wife Jenni. “He’s also a great sportsman.” Ron, Brian and Jenni all worked together to get the game kick -started in Reunion.
“I don’t think what I’ve done is anything extraordinary,” said Brian. “I’m just a guy who is passionate for Pickleball who moved into the neighborhood and ended up getting talked into being Chair of the Pickleball Committee,” he said with a smile.
Brian, a retired State Farm employee who grew up in Virginia but lived in the Atlanta area since 1989, said that like many of us, he was an avid tennis player before getting into Pickleball. I got talked into it by a friend’s wife,” said Brian. “I was playing tennis one day and she said come over and try it, and I could not hit the dadgum ball,” he said. “So, I tried for an hour or so and finally got the hang of it, and after that I ‘drank the cool aid’ so now I rarely play tennis and I’m a convert.”
This was back in Brian’s old neighborhood, so when he and his wife Jenni moved to Reunion, he was surprised that there was no one playing Pickleball. “So, we organized a ‘workshop’ or group lesson for about 30 people, who were the core believers. Then we made the decision to ask that Pickleball courts be painted on Court 5,” he added.
Neighbor and Pickleball player Lorraine Horner said, “Brian was always so welcoming and patient towards those of us that were just learning to play.”
Brian said he and wife Jenni will miss all their friends in Reunion. We wish Brian and Jenni many good times on the Pickleball Court as they move on to their next adventure.
The new Pickleball Committee (Chair: Sherry Johnson; Members: Ben Bolden, Jeremy Bottoms, Amanda Gambill, Vanessa Jones, and Ron Scroggins) will do its best to assure Pickleball continues to be available for all Reunion residents wanting to play this very special sport.

The words of auctioneer Jack Ofsharick were sometimes inaudible over the sounds of the laughter he generated at September’s Empty Nester’s Annual Auction/Fundraiser.
A fun-loving crowd, who donated some very usual items, brought their credit cards and checks as their bids ranged from $1 to $50— with the proceeds going toward the Empty Nester’s treasury.
The liquid refreshments were flowing amidst one of our many great Empty Nester dinner buffets—full of wonderful entrées and delicious desserts.
Before the fun began, Empty Nester Co-Chair Sarah McElwee opened with some Empty Nester business followed by a lively group discussion and concluding with a vote on several changes to the organization’s by-laws.
People were still enjoying their desserts when Jack started the bidding with three “hand therapy” balls, which Jack said could be used by both men and women (actually, that’s the PG-13 version of what Jack said). They were sold for $1.00 to Barbara Hasaka.
Four of the next five items became property of Gail & Ted Sawyer, including a Santa’s Wish wine glass and four lamp shades.
Jack, in full stride as the Official Empty Nester Auctioneer, drove
the bidding up on two exceptional items, the first a nice outbacktype leather hat which, despite Jack modeling the hat, still sold for $20 to Stacy Cathey, who immediately (and predictably!) gave it to Rodney Smith. Rodney fashionably sported the slightly used hat the remainder of the evening.
But the evenings most expensive item went to Mitch Esposito, who outbid his fellow Nesters and bought a beautiful sketching of John Wayne on horseback. The beautifully framed art of “The Duke” took the top honors for the night’s highest bid of $50.
Among the other fun (and odd) 59 items donated to the auction included a back scratcher made from deer antlers ($7 to Kerry & Felicia Stamey), a wrought iron cook book stand and basket ($4 to Judy & Don Smith), two lightly used Pickleball paddles ($16 to Lorraine Horner) and a Moscow “nutcracker”, (sold to Susan Eyring for $14).
According to Treasurer Ron Scroggins, the Empty Nesters raised $470 thanks to the generosity of its membership.
We’d love to have you join us each month—and if you are an empty nester yourself and are interested, send an email to Sarah McElwee at smcelwee.88@gmail.com.
Have a GREAT holiday season!
