DID You KNOW?
Monthly friendly advice for our Reunion neighbors about covenants issues & guidelines Because there was an all residents Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday evening, August 20th, there is little to go over in this month’s “Did You Know?” other than to reiterate the following: • In terms of community safety, the consistent phrase of “if you see something say something” was echoed. We are fortunate to live in Reunion for many reasons, but particularly because of the surveillance that we have especially compared to other communities around us. • Each committee had the opportunity to report on what they accomplished throughout the year and what their goals will be for the future. • John Marshall went over our financial stability, which is in good shape and stated that they are in the middle of a sustainability study as we move towards taking ownership of our Home Owners Association. • Committees function because of dedicated volunteers and more are needed. If you are interested in having some involvement, please refer to the contact information in The Patriot. • The evening closed with a statement of pride in our community with all participants agreeing.
As a summary, in terms of Covenants, our two major and consistent violations are: PARKING: Please make sure that cars and service providers do not block traffic and park as much as possible in the driveway and garage. If you must park on the street, there is a 4-hour limit and cars cannot create an obstacle for emergency vehicles (as in parking directly across the street from another). ALL VEHICLES must be parked going in the flow of traffic or they are subject to a fine. GARBAGE CANS: Garbage cans must be stored in the garage or outside ONLY if they are 1) located behind approved fencing or 2) behind established bushes entirely out of view from the road, neighbors, and the golf course. For a Monday morning trash pickup, garbage cans should not be put out before 5 on Sunday and brought in from the curb as soon as possible - but no later than Monday evening. Thank you, Your Covenants Committee The Covenants Committee is comprised of dedicated volunteers who do not make HOA rules, but simply monitor the community to make certain that all who live here follow the regulations that you were made aware of at the time of your purchase. We aim to keep Reunion the pristine neighborhood it is just as other committees strive to oversee the pool, social life, safety, and the Meeting House agendas.

Empty Nesters Enjoy Pre-Season Tailgate Party In their customary manner of being out in front of most things, the Empty Nester group of Reunion Country Club got a head start on the upcoming pig skin season with their first ever PreSeason Tailgate Party. Hosts for the event, and originators of the unique theme idea, were Jan & Glenn Scarlett and Carol & Mike Brody. Empty Nester members were asked to come dressed in their favorite football team attire and to bring a dish which would be suitable for a traditional pre-football game tailgate party. Sixty-one members of the group arrived at The Meeting House donning team caps, jerseys, t-shirts and other team inspired paraphernalia in support of their preferred gridiron squad. The University of Georgia “Dawgs” were well represented with more than a dozen people proudly sporting the red and black in one form or another. There were also supporters of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, the Wisconsin Badgers, the Virginia Tech Hokies, the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Seminoles of Florida State, the Auburn Tigers and more along, of course, with a sprinkling of Atlanta Falcon, Cincinnati Bengals and other NFL garb. As impressive as the display of team colors happened to be, the buffet of tailgate proper food items was even more jaw dropping. There were plentiful helpings of chicken wings, pulled pork, sausages, chili and assorted sandwiches complemented by
a bounty of tasty appetizers and scrumptious desserts. The evening was kicked off with a spirited Corn Hole tournament which had extremely good participation. Two person teams played head to head in single elimination competition prior to a break in the action. When the competition re-convened the team of Judy Smith & Tom McDermott squared off against the other finalists, Jan Scarlett and Bill Humble, to determine the championship title winners. When the dust settled, it was the Smith – McDermott twosome that took home the Grand Prize of lottery tickets and, more importantly, bragging rights as Reunion Empty Nester Corn Hole Champs of 2019. That, however, was not the end of competition for the night. The hosts also challenged the members in attendance to a football trivia contest in which individual six member teams were posed with 26 questions related to football. At the end of the quiz period, the team of Jennie & Bryan Stancil, Peg & Kirk Baldwin and Gerri & Jack Ofsharick emerged with the most correct answers and were awarded prizes of lottery tickets for their efforts and knowledge. Many thanks go to Jan, Glenn, Carol and Mike for a most enjoyable evening of fun, fellowship and good food.
