Association Manager’s Corner

The Manager's Message

It is hard to believe it, but Spring is just around the corner. During the Spring we not only manage the Community’s Spring needs but also begin preparing for Summer. Here is a glimpse of the areas that the Association is addressing: Pool: The Pool Committee conducted a survey in October. There were 448 residents that responded. The survey results regarding the pool company are as follows: • 90% of the respondents were happy with the pool greeter system that was implemented in 2019. This will continue in 2020 as well. • 84% of respondents were satisfied with the pool company’s maintenance and oversight. At the Board’s request, the pool contract was put out to bid late last year. After evaluating the bids received, the Board has hired Swim Atlanta as the new pool management company. Swim Atlanta will provide lifeguards for our pools and will place a dedicated experienced manager on site at Sterling. The Pool Committee has requested, and the Board has approved additional pool loungers, tables and chairs with umbrellas for the main pool and the lodge pool. The new furniture will be provided prior to the pool openings this summer.

4

The Pool opening is scheduled for May 16th. If you have paid your 2020 Association fees in full and your account is in good standing, you may come by the clubhouse during business hours, including weekends, to pick up your 2020 sticker. The 2019 sticker will be valid until May 10th. Lakes and Trails: The Lakes and Trails Committee has selected names for each of the Association’s trails. The Spout Springs Road expansion is in progress. The Georgia Department of Transportation will begin the reconstruction of the entrance sometime in June. Once this work has begun, they estimate that this will take two weeks to complete. I will update everyone as we get closer to the construction date. As I near my one-year anniversary as the Community Manager of Sterling on the Lake, I want to take a moment to thank the residents for your kindness and patience. It has been a pleasure working with the community and I look forward to the future as we transition from a developer-led community to a resident-led community later this year. Regards,

Tammy Quinn,

Community Manager for Sterling on the Lake

Volunteer Opportunities

Angels in Waiting transforms donated wedding dresses into beautiful Angel Gowns for the infants who are stillborn or die shortly after birth. The Angel gowns are donated to hospitals all over the world, including Israel, Australia and Canada! Volunteers gather very Tuesday from 9-5 (4382 Rustic Oak Lane, Braselton, GA 30517) to make the gowns. All supplies are provided. If you can’t participate in making the gowns, you may support the mission with: • Donated supplies (white thread, buttons, sewing machines) • Donated wedding/prom dresses or tuxedos • Monetary donations For additional info, please contact Jean Stephens at 770-519-8760. Thank you to Marjorie Cooper, a Sterling resident & one of the group’s regular volunteers, for letting us know about this opportunity! Mercy MATTers (formerly Homeless Hookups – same group, just a new name!) meets in Sterling approximately 3-4 times per month. Some sessions are open to adults only, while others are youth friendly. Volunteers transform plastic bags from various stores into mats for individuals who are homeless. Our youngest volunteer to date is 6 years old! We have several teens and many adults regularly involved in this endeavor. The more the merrier! After attending a session or two and learning how to sort, fold, cut & loop the bags, volunteers may

work from home! If you would like to receive announcements about upcoming group sessions, please join Dawn Stone’s Mercy Matters group on Facebook or request to be added to the email distribution list by contacting Jackie Pray - jepray@outlook.com. Both Dawn & Jackie are residents in The Springs. American Red Cross – Northeast Georgia has openings for MANY volunteer roles: The following positions require no formal training AND may be done from home: • Food supply preparedness (involves contacting restaurant/catering services that might provide support during local disasters) – Contact Mike Riemann at mike.riemann@redcross.org • Volunteer contact/follow-up (involves making friendly “check-in” phone calls to volunteers) – Contact Karen Hillman at karen. hillman2@redcross.org • Animal support resources (involves gathering info about animal rescue organizations, shelters & vets be able to help when animals/ pets are affected by a disaster) - Contact Marcia Brooks at marcia. brooks@redcross.org Red Cross also has opportunities to engage in local disaster response and many other volunteer roles (with varying training expectations). To learn more, visit https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/?nd=user_ volunteer_opportunity (click on Opportunity Location, select Gainesville Northeast Georgia Chapter) or contact Mike Riemann at mike.riemann@redcross.org or 770-532-8453.
