Association Manager’s Corner

The Manager's Message School is out and the community is enjoying Summer! The pools are open. Tennis and outdoor activities are in full swing. The HOA has added three additional kayaks that are available to be used by the residents. We now have 4 one-person kayaks, 1 two-person kayak, and a new three-person kayak. This allows residents more options when using the lake. To check-out any of the kayaks, simply bring your driver’s license and amenity card to the clubhouse and sign a liability waiver for use of the equipment. Please remember all residents are required to wear a life jacket when on the lake and these jackets will be provided at the time of rental. If you have a non-motorized boat that you would like to use on the lake, it is required to be registered. Please bring a picture of your watercraft to the clubhouse and fill out the required documentation and submit the registration fee of $25 to receive your decal. The tennis courts on Lake Crossing are scheduled to be repaired and repainted later this month. This should take approximately a week to complete. An email notification will be sent out when the dates have been finalized. The HOA will also be adding an access control system to the Lake Crossing’s amenity center restrooms during the next month. The pool monitors have been very helpful during the opening of the pools this season and we will continue this program throughout the summer. Please remember that the lifeguards have sole authority at the pools. Unaccompanied minors ages 13-15 are permitted to use the pools with the understanding that they will respect and obey the lifeguards. If anyone is found not following the rules, they will be removed from the pool. Please remind your children of their responsibilities when using the community’s pools. The Clubhouse offices will undergo a remodel at the end of June. The Activities Director’s office will become the Property Manager’s office to allow more accessibility to the residents. The craft room beside the theater room will be converted to a storage area for the kayak’s paddles and life jackets as well as items for any of the social events within the community. The Spout Springs Road entrance expansion progress is pending the DOT’s project schedule. In anticipation of this project, the seasonal flowers were not planted, and the irrigation has been turned off until the road project has been completed. The Board will move forward with plans for replacement as the construction project nears completion. I will continue to update the residents with changes and enhancements to the community in future Newsletters. Please remember that my door is always open, and you are welcome to come by at any time to share questions and ideas. Tammy Quinn Community Manager for Sterling on the Lake

Tennis

Congratulations to our new coaching staff on their tremendous accomplishments! Our head coach, Chase Hodges, has been selected as the 2019 Wilson/NAIA men’s and women’s National Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In May, Chase along with assistant Georgia Gwinnett college coaches Hannah Keeling and Robert McAdoo, won their sixth straight NAIA national championship with a dominant 5-0 victory against No. 7-seeded Xavier University (La.) in Mobile, AL. Their team has now won all 24 of its matches throughout the years at the national tournament. The GGC Women’s team won their fifth straight NAIA National Championship, moving them into a tie for the second most all-time in women’s tennis. Well done team! If you are interested in learning more about tennis in Sterling, contact Chase at chase@gwinnetttennis.com Congratulations to Danny Wilcox’s A7 spring ALTA Men’s team for winning their division 27-35. Sterling enjoyed having the home court advantage during the playoffs and traveled to the Hudlow Tennis Center for the City Finals. It was a battle to the end but ultimately Sterling won it all taking lines 1,3 and 4. Way to go guys for bringing Sterling on the Lake another ALTA City Championship! Congratulations to Jamie Floyd and her NEGTA 3.0 team for their outstanding performance at the USTA State Championship in Athens. The team tied for first place in their group and placed third overall. Way to go ladies!
