Association Manager’s Corner

The Manager's Message Fall is fast approaching, the weather is finally cooling off and it’s a very busy time in our Community! Below are helpful fall landscaping reminders to keep your yard and plants healthy during the chilly months ahead: • Aerate and over-seed cool season fescue • Remove spring color beds and install viola or pansy color combinations • Plant any spring blooming bulbs along with your fall color • Apply pre-emergent to your turf to prevent spring weeds (November is the ideal time) • Gear up for Leaf season: the battle with leaves will continue throughout the Fall and into Winter • Install a fresh layer of pine straw to your landscape beds to give the ground a clean, tailored look Family and friends will love the way your lawn looks when they visit for holiday celebrations! The Association will soon add Golf Cart signage to notify drivers that golf carts are driven on the streets in Sterling on the Lake. The signs are not intended to indicate where golf carts are permitted. Golf carts are not allowed on Capitola Farm Road or on any community walking trail. The Association’s Annual Meeting has a new date: Thursday, December 12 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Sign in will begin at 6:15 p.m. and the meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Agenda items include the state of the community, the updated reserve study, the 2020 Budget and the plans for the future. There will also be a vote for one of the resident Board of Directors positions, with a two-year term beginning January 1, 2020. We look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting! The annual assessment coupons will be mailed to residents in December. If you do not receive them by December 15, please contact me at tquinn@cmacommunities.com. On the tennis scene, the Lake Crossing Drive courts have been repaired and repainted. We have also installed four pickleball courts and have placed pickleball nets on the courts as well. If you are interested in joining the residents who are playing pickleball or would like to learn how to play, please contact me and I will put you in touch with our pickleball league. You may reserve a court for tennis or pickleball by accessing the website www.Reservemycourt.com. On the website, you will be able to establish an account and reserve any court in the community. Courts 7 & 8 are designated for pickleball and are listed as 7A, 7B, 8A or 8B. All other courts are designated for Tennis. The basketball court on Lake Crossing Drive has also been repainted and new lines have been drawn, including a three-point line. Take advantage of the refreshed court and gather some friends for a pick-up game! We expect exciting new upgrades in the Clubhouse this Fall! A new audio/video system will be installed the last week of October. The system includes new equipment in the theater, a smart television in the Gathering room and a music system throughout the clubhouse and on the patio outside. We also plan to replace the furniture to give the Clubhouse a fresh new feel. If you have any questions regarding the Association, my door is always open. Please drop by to chat!

Meet the Neighbors Did you know that just 2.5 miles down the road is one of the largest, most established residential children’s programs in the Southeast? Eagle Ranch provides a Christ-centered home, education and counseling for nearly 70 boys and girls. Children are given the structure, stability and time needed to work through a crisis and return to their families. The gorgeous 315-acre campus has a neighborhood feel in a rural setting bursting with flowering plants, lush fields, 2 lakes, forested trails and wildlife. Tours are being organized for Sterling on the Lake residents to be picked up right at SOTL Clubhouse in the Eagle Ranch 20 passenger tour bus. The tour is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. You’ll have an opportunity to see this program up-close and have an opportunity to learn more about how you can get involved (although there is no pressure to do so!) Come and see. Come and learn. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by the work happening right here in your own backyard! Our next tour will be Thursday, November 14th at 2:00pm.
